Come join the science party as Shua celebrates his birthday doing science!    To give you the best show this week we Science the Stuff out of Shua's birthday. We remember the scientists that helped teach us growing up and play a fun science trivia game.    News Happy 98th birthday to comedic legend Mel Brooks! RIP to classic character actor Martin Mull   Check out our TeePublic store for some enjoyable swag and all the latest fashion trends What we're Enjoying Before Shua Enjoyed his first hurricane in Cancun Mexico, he got the opportunity to swim with dolphins. It was a very cool experience that helped him get in touch with nature. Jay tuned in to the new Beverly Hills Cop movie on Netflix. It did a great job of using some of the things that worked with the originals while modernizing it for today's audiences.     Sci-Fi Saturdays This week on Sci-Fi Saturdays Jay examined an experimental movie called Aeon Flux. This 2005 Charlize Theron film was based on an animated show, but production problems affected the final outcome after the director was held back from doing what was needed to polish it properly. Still fun to check out. Make sure to play around with the interactive map on MCULocationScout.com. There are some new locations from Deadpool 1 and 2 in preparation for the new movie. Plus, you can tune in to  SHIELD: Case Files where Jay and Shua talk about great stuff in the MCU.     Enjoy Science!  It's Shua's birthday! So we decided to celebrate with one of his passions, SCIENCE! As we were growing up we were so engaged when we encountered science. Whether it was an educational show with Carl Sagan, Beakman, or Bill Nye, or hands-on activities in class we loved to experiment and learn how the world worked.    Then Jay lays down some science trivia to see if Shua can stand by the knowledge he claims to have. And he opens his gifts to start his week of right.    Do you like science? Which science shows did you learn from as a kid? First person that emails me with the subject line, “Science Rules!” will get a special mention on the show.  Let us know. If it looks unreal, it’s because Vantablack isn’t actually a color, it’s a form of nanotechnology. It was created by the tech industry for the tech industry, but this strange dark material would also go on to turn the art world on its head. See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

The groundwater of Rockford, Michigan, is contaminated by per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances, chemicals found in everything from nonstick pans to dental floss to—in the case of Rockford—waterproofing agents from a shoe factory that shut down in 2009. Science journalist Sara Talpos talks with host Meagan Cantwell about how locals found the potentially health-harming chemicals in their water, and how contamination from nonstick chemicals isn't limited to Michigan. Also this week, host Sarah Crespi talks with Shyamnath Gollakota of the University of Washington in Seattle about his work diagnosing ear infections with smartphones. With the right app and a small paper cone, it turns out that your phone can listen for excess fluid in the ear by bouncing quiet clicks from the speaker off the eardrum. Clinical testing shows the setup is simple to use and can help parents and doctors check children for this common infection. This week's episode was edited by Podigy.
