The mix starts with a soothing track by Nimino, called “Light Up”, which sets the mood for the rest of the mix. The mix then gradually builds up the energy, with tracks by Lane 8, Sultan + Shepard, Jamie Stevens, and more. The mix showcases some of the best producers in the scene, such as Kevin de Vries, Sasha, Rodriguez Jr, and Ross From Friends. The mix also features some classic tunes, such as “Pacific State” by 808 State and “You Are Here” by Nathan Fake. The mix then switches to a more breakbeat-oriented style, with tracks by Left/Right, Nathan Micay, and Eat Static. His passion for audio began with his background in Jazz and only grew from there when he obtained a Degree in Sound and Master Degree in Music and Technology. A few of his notable releases include “Tough to Say”, “The Beholder”, and “I will Guide Thy Hand”. Take a listen to his latest track “Scars”. “Scars” is out now via Klockworks and it's available on all streaming platforms. Visit facebook.com/temudomusic for the latest on Temudo projects. In this limited run series, I will be exploring the pioneers that have shaped and influenced the EDM we have today. In this episode I will be featuring “808 State”. In 1987 Graham Massey, Martin Price and A Guy Called Gerald formed the group “808 State”. This Manchester, England based trio were influential in the acid house, techno scene in the 80's and early 90's. Their breakthrough single was released in 1989 called “Pacific State”. Take a listen to it here. “Pacific State” remains one of the most influential songs for “808 State” because it showcased their fusion abilities of house, techno, acid and ambient music. They were also known for their use of the Roland TR-808 drum machine which became a staple for EDM use today. That's it for Vinyl's From The Past, now let's get back to more music. Robby East: Start - 20:34 and End – 25:19Robby East is a DJ and Producer out of Amsterdam that specializes in melodic house. The Manchester music scene gained notoriety long before Ian Brown and Shaun Ryder thanks to 1960s artists like The Hollies, The Bee Gees, and Herman's Hermits. Following the rise of punk, Manchester provided their own twist with bands like Joy Division and New Order, The Smiths, and The Fall breaking out at home and abroad. But our focus is on the unique combination of guitar-driven rock and underground rave music that morphed into what became known as Madchester. Combining funky, percussive rhythms with everything from 80s college rock to 60s psychedelic, the brief window of the late 80s and early 90s created a unique blend of danceable rock music paired with DJs and club music that became a small factor in the eventual rise of Britpop. Songs In This Episode: Intro - Fool's Gold by The Stone Roses 13:27 - Dragging Me Down by Inspiral Carpets 26:08 - I'm Free by The Soup Dragons 33:15 - Pacific State by 808 State 46:02 - Sit Down by James Outro - Step On by Happy Mondays Support the podcast, join the DMO UNION at Patreon. It's been thirty years since they last met but I had a chat with A Guy Called Gerald and Trevor Miller. Miller's cult novel Trip City caught the early acid house zeitigest and it was released with an EP made by Gerald, riding high at the time with what are now the classics Voodoo Ray and Pacific State. To celebrate the book's re-release I caught up with the two for a frank, revealing and at times hilarious chat. It was pretty much two old pals catching up with me somewhere in the middle. Enjoy!Theme music by ESO

Cookie-Dough Guest Mix 28 with Dave Gerrard Welcome to the Cookie-Dough Guest mix where we invite some of favourite DJ / Producers to answer a few questions and dig deep into their collections and put together a mix of their favourite records. For this episode we have invited DJ, Producer and edit man Dave Gerrard to put together a mix of records that have influenced him over the years! This is one for the house heads. Nice one Dave! A few words from Dave... Nostalgia for me is a powerful emotion triggered, on occasion by music. My track choices are for this reason. Hearing these tracks fire up memories ranging from being in the back of a car, a night at the Hacienda or maybe a warehouse party in Blackburn. Upon hearing the track it’s as if I’m teleported back in time to that moment. This music is from my past, and I consider myself extremely lucky to have been around to experience the birth of Chicago and Acid house, enabling me to travel the length and breadth of the UK, experiencing different clubs, music and above all the excitement that everyone was feeling witnessing how this new music was changing things. So here it is, my mix, a tricky thing to put together because, at the time most of these tracks were made, the term DJ friendly wasn’t a term widely used. Lots of early house a couple and I had to include one of my very first edits also. This is some of the music that made me. Track List Mr Fingers-Can U Feel It. Adonis-No Way Back (Greg Wilson Edit) Orbital-Chime Joe Smooth-Promised Land Marshall Jefferson-Move Your Body South Street Player-[Who] Keeps Changing Your Mind A Guy Called Gerald-Voodoo Ray (A Guy Called Gerrard Edit) Soft House Company-What U Need The Todd Terry Project-Weekend Alison Limerick-Where Love Lives FPI Project-Rich In Paradise Joe Smooth-It’s Alright Q&A What was the first record you bought that made you realize that you wanted to be a DJ / Producer? The first record that made me realise I wanted to become a DJ? That’s a difficult one, it was a long time ago, it was probably Frankie Knuckles-Your Love or Faze II- Reachin’, funnily enough both tracks are a nightmare to try and mix into a set. The first record I bought however was The Wombles-The Wombling Song. What record makes you most nostaligic? There are a few records that make me nostalgic, Pacific State by 808 State, Mr Fingers- Can U Feel it, I used to blast them out in my car on a Sunday evening after Partying all night on the Blackburn Warehouse scene, both tracks are full of emotion. What is your favourite end of night record? I have a few end of night records, Michael Jackson-Don’t Stop Till You Get Enough & Sister Sledge-We Are Family both seem to do the trick, leave em wanting more. Do you have a guilty pleasure record? Guilty pleasures, anything by The Wombles, I nearly started my set with that one. What is your most treasured piece of vinyl? My most treasured piece of vinyl is probably House Sounds of Chicago Vol 1. It was my first house record.
