Wow, The Blaze TV held a Presidential Forum this weekend and Tucker Carlson hosted. During this forum, at least 3 of the candidates for the Republican primary saw any chance they may have had slip away. It was beautiful and we will discuss. Also, another weekend, another hit piece on RFK Jr.

Since she was a student at Northwestern, University Trustee Jane S. Hoffman '86 ('21 P) has been interested in how messages and media are constructed and consumed. And found she could help others understand complex subjects through storytelling and accessible language, and through public service. As Commissioner of Consumer Affairs in New York City, Hoffman found herself never tiring of hearing people's problems and finding solutions. During her run for Lieutenant Governor of New York she describes how she had the opportunity to tour the entire state and listen to her potential constituents and understand the issues impacting them and their communities. Hoffman tell us how she later founded the Presidential Forum on Renewable Energy to help force politicians and their policy makers to talk about the existential threat of climate change in a public forum. And subsequently introduce language around climate change into common discourse. Helping others understand complex subjects such as data, privacy, money, and sustainability through accessible language is a through line in her career path. In this episode of Northwestern Intersections Hoffman joins us for a conversation that highlights her recent book, Your Data, Their Billions: Unraveling and Simplifying Big Tech. Understanding the great benefits and genuine risks of navigating the internet and new technology is essential in our increasingly virtual world. She shares how her book offers an accessible explanation of how big tech collects and trades our data to make profits, and how her policy proposals would protect online users' privacy rights. And how you can take meaningful steps towards safeguarding your privacy while enjoying the positive features the internet has to offer. Northwestern Alumni Association is offering alumni in the United States a chance to win one of 10 signed copies of the book Your Data, Their Billions: Unraveling and Simplifying Big Tech. To participate, complete the form: alumni.northwestern.edu/IntersectionsGiveaway or request to be entered by emailing intersections@northwestern.edu by 11:59 p.m. CDT on August 18, 2022. No payment or donation is required, nor will it improve one's chances of winning. The giveaway is limited to one book, per household (a $28 retail value) and limited to Northwestern alumni who are United States residents and at least 18 years of age. Shipping and handling of the book will be covered by the Northwestern Alumni Association.

In this week's episode, we dive into our experience with the Fall 2019 Presidential Forum. If you attend the New York City campus and haven't already heard the news, students still feel left out of the equation when it comes to the impending campus move, even after the university's efforts to quell tensions. Julian had the opportunity to ask some questions of his own, and Nicole details what she felt and experienced once the Q&A segment of the forum ended. We hope you enjoy this episode, and if you have any questions, comments, or insights, feel free to reach out to us through an Instagram DM @manhattansvoice_pod. We hope you all have a great week! We broadcast live from South Carolina State University in Orangeburg, where tonight the first-ever Presidential Forum on Environmental Justice will be held. Six presidential candidates — Senators Elizabeth Warren and Cory Booker, Tom Steyer, Marianne Williamson, John Delaney and Joe Sestak — are participating. The forum is hosted by the National Black Caucus of State Legislators and leaders from frontline communities. South Carolina is a crucial state for the 2020 presidential race and one of the first that will have a Democratic primary, following New Hampshire and caucuses in Iowa and Nevada. The region has been repeatedly pummeled by climate-fueled hurricanes, including Hurricane Florence, which swept through the South in 2018, causing epic floods. Black residents and communities of color have faced disproportionate air and water pollution and exposure to environmental hazards, but South Carolina is also home to some of the most successful responses to environmental racism. Ahead of Friday's presidential forum, we speak with Mustafa Ali, the forum's co-moderator and the former head of the environmental justice program at the Environmental Protection Agency. “It's important that we have these conversations about climate change, but those are the symptoms of a disease,” Ali says. “The disease has been the racism, the structural inequality, that continues to happen inside of communities of color.” The post Warren, Booker & Steyer to Take Part in First-Ever Presidential Forum on Environmental Justice appeared first on KPFA.
We watched the entire Presidential LGBT forum in Iowa so that we could tell you about it, and we found it intensely boring and alienating. You may find this episode intensely boring and alienating as a result. Mayor Pete isn’t reading LGBT media anymore, and neither are we. Find us on Twitter at @twinkrev!
