Before the car took over, Spokane, Washington ran an extensive streetcar network that shaped its neighborhoods. Sarah Rose and Erik Lowe of Spokane Reimagined are working to recover that spirit through a bus system that has already surpassed pre-pandemic ridership, a zoning reform that opened the city to missing middle housing, and hand-built benches placed in all 29 neighborhoods, each painted by a local artist. Their city motto is "In Spokane, we all belong" and they're putting in the work to prove it. On Tuesday night in Anaheim, there were quite a few fireworks at the ballpark—rather than a notable theme park—and it all went down between the Los Angeles Angels and the Atlanta Braves. In the bottom of the fifth inning, Reynaldo López and Jorge Soler traded blows after their heated rivalry reached its peak, causing benches to clear from both sides. On this episode of Baseball Bar-B-Cast, Jake Mintz and Jordan Shusterman break down the fight that saw López and Soler exchange punches before it was eventually broken up, with Braves manager Walt Weiss tackling his former player. The guys then discuss the Los Angeles Dodgers handling a depleted Toronto Blue Jays team in the first two games of their World Series rematch, with the Dodgers looking for a sweep today. Later, Jake and Jordan welcome Dodgers catcher Dalton Rushing to the show, where they talk about his time in Los Angeles's system, being drafted by a West Coast team and the heavy expectations that come with playing for the club. To close the show, they get into Sandy Alcantara not being thrilled about being taken out of his last start, Konnor Griffin getting a contract extension and two notable pitching injuries that are hurting their clubs. 0:48 - The Opener: Fight Night in California 17:13 - Field Report: Dodgers-Blue Jays recap 27:53 - Dalton Rushing joins the show 47:08 - We Need to Talk About: Alcantara's not happy 52:17 - Around the League: Konnor Griffin gets an extension 55:43 - Two big pitching injuries Subscribe to Baseball Bar-B-Cast on your favorite podcast app:

Visuals: https://getbehindthebillboard.com/episode-106-franki-goodwin Episode #106 features the brilliant Franki Goodwin, Chief Creative Officer of Saatchi & Saatchi, London. And is hands down one of our favourite episodes yet. Hugely talented, humble, funny, smart, generous, collaborative and many other things, Franki was ace. We started with British Heart Foundation and discovered how the footy murals campaign came about, which in itself is a great story, esp the casting for the huge wall paintings, which had to come from photos from the families and then brought to life in sensitive but photo realistic fashion by Global Street Art. Then there was ‘Benches' the follow up campaign, which came from a placement team who went on to see their idea come to life across the country in the form of 65 benches to commemorate those still living, thanks to BHF. The work earned the team their first job at Saacthi's. Congratulations Lucy Norie & Hannah Underwood. That is an amazing achievement. Nothing is impossible indeed. We found out who really has got the biggest (meat) balls on Oxford St. We discovered that Franki loves pumping tonnes of magenta paint all over buildings in Germany for T-Mobile. We also talked about Western Edge Pictures - Franki's film production company and how hard it is to make movie posters with no budget. And what it's like to work for Mike Figgis in Venice making a live website, while hanging out with Salma Hayek. Thank you Franki, so much for coming on and brightening our day, sorry for the croaky voice. Please come back on again soon. Late last summer, the Nashville Department of Transportation removed the benches lining Korean Vets Boulevard … but Pastor Robin L. Owen just happened to have one in her car. Since then, she and a team of volunteers have built dozens of benches to place at bus stops across the city, part of a nationwide movement; locally, the project is called “To Nashville, With Love.” She joins host Marie Cecile Anderson to talk about why these community-built benches matter, and share her reaction to last week's news that NDOT was removing their benches, too. The next bench building party is this Saturday, March 21, at Riverside Commons in East Nashville. Volunteers are invited to join at 9 a.m. to build benches, or around noon if they'd like to drive a rescued bench back to its home. If you'd like to donate to the bench building project, you can do so here. Next, we are going to talk about benches in Ennis that have sparked plenty of debate online. The three benches, located by the river on New Road, Lifford, were installed as part of an Ennis Tidy Towns initiative. However, the benches, which are positioned at slight angles to each other, have led to strong and very mixed reactions on social media. To explain the thinking behind them and respond to the criticism, Alan Morrissey was joined by Mary Howard, Mayor of Ennis and Chair of Ennis Tidy Towns. This sermon is entitled “When God Benches You,” drawn from Acts 19:21–41. It's a dramatic scene. The gospel is having such a powerful impact in Ephesus that the city erupts in chaos. A riot breaks out. Two of Paul's companions are seized and dragged into the theater, their lives suddenly in danger. Paul is ready to rush in and help—but those closest to him stop him. It's too dangerous. Stepping in could make everything worse. For Paul, this meant taking a backseat—and that couldn't have been easy. Paul was not someone who sat well on the sidelines, especially when he felt responsible for what was happening. And yet, this moment reveals something crucial: this was never Paul's ministry to manage or rescue. It was the Lord's. Friends, there are seasons when God does the same with us. Like a wise coach, He sits us on the bench at the very moment we want to be in the game. He removes the situation from our hands and gently—but firmly—reminds us that we are not the Savior. He is. Are you there right now? Do you feel sidelined in a ministry, a relationship, or a situation that matters deeply to you? Is it especially hard to let go when the people involved mean so much? This passage reminds us that real peace doesn't come from trying to save the day—it comes from trusting the One who already has. Whether you feel benched by God or not, be reminded afresh that God knows exactly what He's doing—and that He can be trusted, even when we don't understand. Pray that God would prepare your heart to receive fresh strength and wisdom from His Word. Next Steps - Go to waterbrooke.church to find out more.
