Critics say this doesn't address the underlying problems of homelessness, and it simply pushes vulnerable people elsewhere. Shawna Nelson, Executive Director of the Downtown Saskatoon Business Improvement District, joins Evan to discuss what she'd like to see going forward.

And Todd Blanche keeps trying to get over the Judiciary speedbump. ----- The biggest story in legal last week was an unfortunate guerrilla antagonizing of a couple making out on a park bench... who just happened to be a Wachtell partner and associate. And now an internal HR problem is suddenly national news. Say what you will about the person who filmed it, but "get a room" was good advice. Meanwhile, Todd Blanche's confirmation hearings continued to drag on, with former supporters abandoning him and even some Republicans wondering why he can't commit to ruling out a January 6 slush fund. A new book says Blanche once feared bringing frivolous cases. He seems to have gotten over that. And Elena Kagan publicly claims her colleagues get a "bad rap" for supporting Trump. She's wrong and making these statements unfairly maligns her liberal colleagues facing personal attacks for their work. Oh, and John Yoo is back in the news.

As in any large metropolis, mornings in New York City start like this: small coffee and one bagel please. They come to work rain or shine and are always welcomed by busy New Yorkers: the food cart vendors. Two dollars will buy you a breakfast. Another popular morning destination is the deli, short for delicatessen, usually a small store that has everything one might need: a small snack selection, some hot food and the obligatory coffee-to-go. We've had a lot of famous people come in. All these people are coming so restless alone. And Howard Stern is a customer, but he doesn't drink the coffee. Coffee first came to New York in the early 1600s, back when the city was called New Amsterdam by its Dutch founders. New York City was really the coffee capital of North America, and the coffee culture of New York City is very distinct because it was a Dutch colony. By the 1800s stores would sell steaming hot cups of coffee for a few cents. Local rumors and news came for free. Once paper cups made their entrance, coffee-to-go became a morning routine. We provided an excellent cup of freshly roasted coffee every single day for 100 years. Alexandra Vassilaros is the owner of a coffee empire.100年来,我们每天都提供一杯优质的现烘咖啡。 For three generations, her company has been giving New Yorkers what they need most in the mornings. Since the 1960s, many New York coffee shop owners have been immigrants from Greece. So it's not accidental that one of the most recognizable coffee cup symbols here is an amphora. Like yellow taxi cabs, they were a symbol for coffee-to-go, but then Starbucks came along. Starbucks has done a very good job of creating a roast profile and roasting notably darker, for example, than many other roasters. And for many years, this was their sole point of differentiation. They had quality coffees and they roasted them very dark. And their consumers started to become educated to actually appreciate that. For those New Yorkers who prefer to sip their coffee in a less hurried manner, there is Caffe Reggio. Walls are adorned with Caravaggio style paintings. Benches are decorated with the Medici family ciphers and the coffee machine here is the oldest in New York. At this time it should be, you know, packed with the line inside outside. Caffe Reggio owner Fabrizio Cavallacci has been here for the last 50 years, and so were his parents before he took the helm. Coffee is still made based on traditional Italian recipes. Cafe Reggio has always attracted New York's Bohemian crowd. It's nice to sit down and have a coffee, and I think that I'm sitting here with Bob Dylan or Kerouac or one of the great poets who has come and sat and written here at one of the tables. In a classical interior or rushing out of a deli, a cup of coffee remains an integral part of New York City life.

As the weather starts to warm up, tensions among players and teams naturally begin to rise, as we've seen multiple altercations occur during games this past week. With Wilson Contreras taking exception to words said to him by Cade Cavalli and Josh Naylor getting into it with former teammate Austin Hedges, it's time to ask the question: What's with the beef? On this episode of Baseball Bar-B-Cast, Jake Mintz and Jordan Shusterman break down the bad blood that circulated through Fenway Park between the Boston Red Sox and the Washington Nationals, as well as between the Cleveland Guardians and the Seattle Mariners. Did Wilson Contreras have the right to be as upset as he was with Cade Cavalli? Is there a bigger issue that needs to be discussed regarding Josh Naylor's former actions with teammates? Later on the show, Jake and Jordan preview the 2026 MLB Draft, including which of Roch Cholowsky, Vahn Lackey and Grady Emerson could go No. 1 overall and why Jackson Flora is the clear top pitcher in this draft class. They then take a look at the New York Yankees suffering their annual June swoon after dropping their series to the Detroit Tigers, with Cam Schlittler helping to extend the skid, and Junior Caminero officially joining the Home Run Derby field. 2:13 - The Opener: Brawl in Boston 19:14 - Naylor vs. Hedges 30:46 - 2026 MLB Draft preview 53:22 - Around the League: MLB changed the balls 56:09 - Yankees and their June swoon 1:02:02 - Junior Caminero joins the Home Run Derby Subscribe to Baseball Bar-B-Cast on your favorite podcast app:

On Tuesday night in Anaheim, there were quite a few fireworks at the ballpark—rather than a notable theme park—and it all went down between the Los Angeles Angels and the Atlanta Braves. In the bottom of the fifth inning, Reynaldo López and Jorge Soler traded blows after their heated rivalry reached its peak, causing benches to clear from both sides. On this episode of Baseball Bar-B-Cast, Jake Mintz and Jordan Shusterman break down the fight that saw López and Soler exchange punches before it was eventually broken up, with Braves manager Walt Weiss tackling his former player. The guys then discuss the Los Angeles Dodgers handling a depleted Toronto Blue Jays team in the first two games of their World Series rematch, with the Dodgers looking for a sweep today. Later, Jake and Jordan welcome Dodgers catcher Dalton Rushing to the show, where they talk about his time in Los Angeles's system, being drafted by a West Coast team and the heavy expectations that come with playing for the club. To close the show, they get into Sandy Alcantara not being thrilled about being taken out of his last start, Konnor Griffin getting a contract extension and two notable pitching injuries that are hurting their clubs. 0:48 - The Opener: Fight Night in California 17:13 - Field Report: Dodgers-Blue Jays recap 27:53 - Dalton Rushing joins the show 47:08 - We Need to Talk About: Alcantara's not happy 52:17 - Around the League: Konnor Griffin gets an extension 55:43 - Two big pitching injuries Subscribe to Baseball Bar-B-Cast on your favorite podcast app:

Visuals: https://getbehindthebillboard.com/episode-106-franki-goodwin Episode #106 features the brilliant Franki Goodwin, Chief Creative Officer of Saatchi & Saatchi, London. And is hands down one of our favourite episodes yet. Hugely talented, humble, funny, smart, generous, collaborative and many other things, Franki was ace. We started with British Heart Foundation and discovered how the footy murals campaign came about, which in itself is a great story, esp the casting for the huge wall paintings, which had to come from photos from the families and then brought to life in sensitive but photo realistic fashion by Global Street Art. Then there was ‘Benches' the follow up campaign, which came from a placement team who went on to see their idea come to life across the country in the form of 65 benches to commemorate those still living, thanks to BHF. The work earned the team their first job at Saacthi's. Congratulations Lucy Norie & Hannah Underwood. That is an amazing achievement. Nothing is impossible indeed. We found out who really has got the biggest (meat) balls on Oxford St. We discovered that Franki loves pumping tonnes of magenta paint all over buildings in Germany for T-Mobile. We also talked about Western Edge Pictures - Franki's film production company and how hard it is to make movie posters with no budget. And what it's like to work for Mike Figgis in Venice making a live website, while hanging out with Salma Hayek. Thank you Franki, so much for coming on and brightening our day, sorry for the croaky voice. Please come back on again soon. Late last summer, the Nashville Department of Transportation removed the benches lining Korean Vets Boulevard … but Pastor Robin L. Owen just happened to have one in her car. Since then, she and a team of volunteers have built dozens of benches to place at bus stops across the city, part of a nationwide movement; locally, the project is called “To Nashville, With Love.” She joins host Marie Cecile Anderson to talk about why these community-built benches matter, and share her reaction to last week's news that NDOT was removing their benches, too. The next bench building party is this Saturday, March 21, at Riverside Commons in East Nashville. Volunteers are invited to join at 9 a.m. to build benches, or around noon if they'd like to drive a rescued bench back to its home. If you'd like to donate to the bench building project, you can do so here.
