I am to give numerology turns on my 11 life path, which is emotional energy. I get extremely emotional about things, and one way I help to control those emotions is the gym. Another way is I learned to think about my thinking. As long as I can think about my thinking and talk to myself, I can keep it under great control. Thoughts on Breathing If you look at the word spirit, it actually comes from the Greek word spirit a, which means the breath. So that's our energy. God breathed the spirit into us, so not only is breathing important, but you want really good diaphragmatic breathing, with big inhales. It is also important to learn to strengthen your breathing. A lot of times, I'll just lay on the floor, I'll put a kettlebell on my belly button, and breathe. I want to be able to breathe really well because that's the most important thing when it comes to helping top-tier clients. So Suggested Resources Book: The Results Book By Wally Minto App: NSDR Protocol (Non-Sleep Deep Rest) Bullying Story I've been bullied all the way up until the end of high school. That's when I got muscle. But in a way, growing up in the inner cities, and tough, rough neighborhoods, I dealt with bullies because a lot of times, it got physical. But I will say this, I've always had the gift of being mindful and present, even when I was a child. And so there's been plenty of times where I've gotten into situations where I realized that I need to let something go, or I need to just walk away, or I need to finesse my way out of there. That saved my life and kept me from getting hurt. So Being mindful and thinking about my thinking, that's the true test of an intelligent person. I think being mindful can help you be more aware and get you out of situations that maybe you shouldn't have been in. And a lot of times, you can just pause and think about your thinking for a second, two seconds, or five seconds. That helps you to not do things that aren't true in your nature. If there was a way for you, as a salesperson, to make more money, would you? (We hope you'd answer yes to that question.) Don't worry, we got you! Today's episode of The Sales Evangelist features Roy Redd, who shares his three strategies for you to make more money, have a bigger impact, and take more time off (which sure sounds like a deal to us.) USP: Determine your unique selling proposition. Make your business unique. Dominoes Pizza changed the pizza game with their “hot and ready in thirty minutes or it's free.” Know what your company offers, what your message is, and what you can deliver. What can you do that's unique? Can you guarantee something? Is it speed? Is it language? There are many ways to be different. Roy's podcast, The Entrepreneur Underdog, is different. Why? Because it tailors to specific emotional perception of some entrepreneurs. The best method to identify your USP is to ask your audience. Ask them why they worked with you? Go through those responses to see what stands out to your customers. Positioning: Be the guru at the top of a mountain in your industry. Tony Robbins is the best-positioned person in his space. There are multiple ways to put yourself at the top. Get to the point where you're realized as the best in your game. How do you get to that point? It's all about branding. A brand is artifacts in the market that say who you are and what you do. Depending on what your business, maybe you write a book, speak at a presentation or conference, or even create a course. The most well-positioned people show they can help educate and provide information people want. Systems: Money doesn't create freedom, systems do. You got into business for the freedom. Business owners have a hundred things they're doing and a hundred things they aren't. Figure out what's working, and do that. Use lead results and measures to set up a plan to get you where you want to go. For example, Roy knows for every 150 managers he emails, he gets one repsonse. Plan your goals and daily schedule around that. Why do people have challenges creating systems? It's not about time management; it's about energy management. You've got to hire, delegate, and prioritize the tasks that make you successful and develop systems around those strategies. Whether that's email outreach, LinkedIn messaging, utilize it. (And take advantage of AI!)) Anything you do consistently can be automated. Figure out how to automate your workload to develop systems. Major takeaway: There are only two ways to grow sales: pricing (charging more) and improving business processes (which is utilizing the three strategies in the episode.) To get in touch with Roy, DM him on Instagram (@roy_redd) and visit his website for a free downloadable book that dives deeper into today's topics. You can also connect with him on LinkedIn. This episode is brought to you in part by Skipio. Are you sick of crickets? As a salesperson, the pain of reaching out with phone calls or emails and not receiving a response is real. Helping People Increase Measurable Results with a Book – Publish. Promote. Profit. with Rob Kosberg Episode 051 Roy Redd Roy is a 4-time #1 best-selling author of the book The Unnoticed Advantage and The Success Magnet: Cultivate the 5 values that attract success, The Six-figure Trainer and The Little Book of Mental Health. Roy also Is a performance coach who works with pro, college, and high school athletes. He works with the athletes to dramatically increase, tangible, measurable, and physical results. He also does this with companies, organizations and anyone who has a purpose. At the age of 25, Roy realized he was not the person he wanted to become. That's when he decided to make a change in his life. Since that startling realization, he went from broke to making six-figures, homeless to buying his first home, and depressed to feeling fulfilled. Roy Found that his distinctions dramatically increased what he calls workability. Workability simply means the ability to get the job done. When we look at the workability of an object, we judge the object on its ability to do what the object was made for. With this knowledge, Roy realized that the workability of a human comes down to the human's ability to achieve its purpose. This makes performance the most important thing in life because to perform means to do what it takes to achieve a purpose. Roy became a performance coach for Pro, collegiate, and high school athletes. With a new distinction, Roy calls UnBounded Performance Roy is coaching people to dramatically increases tangible, measurable and physical results. Roy has spoken at Ted, National Head Start Conference, International Health and Wealth conference, La Sierra University, Unbounded Basketball Camp, Chaffey College, Stanford, Inland Empire One Love Christmas Party For Orphans, and Multiple High School, College, and NBA Teams. Wingnut Social: The Interior Design Business and Marketing Podcast
After a seminar that changed his life, Roy Redd started a small CPR business that he grew to six-figures over the next year. So he wrote his first book, “The Success Magnet.” During the launch of that book, he got a DM from Casey Trujeque, who asked if his methods worked for athletes. So Casey flew him out to Portland Oregon to work with an athlete. He was able to turn that athlete around with his methods. How? How did changing his self-talk change his game? Connect with Roy Redd Roy’s Website Follow on Instagram Connect on LinkedIn Resources & People Mentioned The Book of Est How to turn things around Roy asks, “What are you saying to yourself about yourself? In a year from now, what has to happen in your career and your life for you to be happy with your progress?” That is what he calls an instant clarity question. Why? Because with clarity comes certainty. Uncertainty is what causes us to have anxiety or negative self-talk. Roy realized this athlete had a “functional bound.” You’re bound by social ideas, trauma, or what you’ve been told you can and cannot do. He was getting nervous at the end of his games. So they did an experiment and realized that he had a traumatic experience at six at the end of a game when his Dad put his hands on him. Now every time he’s in that situation, his brain goes into fight or flight mode. His self-talk was “I’m not confident because I feel this way.” So they reframed and reclaimed the situation. He learned to anchor to the present. They pulled this unconscious memory into his conscious mind where he can control it. You can do that too. How to recognize your bounds We have millions of past experiences. Roy notes that you can’t expect someone to pull and delete all of them. But you can get to a space where you can get comfortable being uncomfortable. You will end up in a space where you will deal with negative self-talk, either conscious, unconscious, or subconscious. We attach “I” to experiences and it becomes embodied in your identity. Being hungry is an experience you have, but when people are hungry they say “I am hungry.” When they’re upset, they say “I am depressed.” But you are not those things, they are states that you’re in. But by saying “I am” you are locking yourself into those states. Instead of saying, “I am depressed” you can say that “I am experiencing depression.” Depression isn’t physical, measurable, or tangible—but it is something that you can experience. It’s a sensation. You’re locking emotions into your body. You feel depressed, but you’re having a sensation in your chest. It’s an anchor for an experience that you have to move away from. How to use self-talk to become better When Roy dove into neuroscience and the mind, he learned that it all boils down to self-talk. It’s not what happens to you in life that matters—it’s how you interpret it. Once you can identify the self-talk you’re having, you want to stop it or slow it down. How? Root yourself in the moment with things you love and things that get you in a flow state. What are you curious about? Passionate about? Is it connected to your purpose? Those three things lead you into a flow state when you’re in a zone. You lose all sense of time or self-awareness and you’re just in the moment. That’s when you take performance to the next level. Once you’re there, you can master and dial in on the things you’re trying to become better at. Want to learn how to stop your negative self-talk in its tracks? Roy Redd is an author who's writings include Finish, and The Success Magnet: Cultivate The 5 Values That Attract Success. At 25 years old pushing his rusted 1987 Honda accord in morning traffic is when he learned the truth about the past, the future, and the present. He realized he was in that situation because of one thing, the person he had become. With this new found understanding he simply began to work on myself and noticed success started to come into my life with less effort than it ever had before. Simply by living as if everything was a reflection of my being, and with total responsibility for his own life, he transformed my life on all levels from the physical to the mental, and most importantly, the spiritual. With this new simple but profound concept, he was able to go from broke to making six figures, from homeless to buying his first home, from depressed to joyful, in a few short years… Although he am proud of my quick successes, he is more excited about what he has learned during the process, he realized that he is a creator. Roy can create a context for his life, and anybody can also create a context for their life once they were aware of that ability. He realized that the cause of all things is generated with or without intention by human beings and that if a human being could take full responsibility for his life he could be the cause to all the results that take place in his life, and create his life with intention.
