Hello and welcome to the first Fantastical Flashback episode of The Mouse and Me! Now there are THREE types of episodes - Interviews, Magical Moments, and Fantastical Flashback. Fantastical Flashback episodes will do three things: (1) It'll give consistent listeners a nice throwback and a reminder of some of the amazing things the guest and Scott talked about; (2) It'll give new listeners the opportunity to discover these interviews if they don't listen from the very beginning; (3) It allows Scott to take a break and recharge his batteries! Who knows? It could be an extra busy holiday season. Scott might be in a Disney park. He might be busy editing episodes...or he might just need a breather. :) For this first Fantastical Flashback, Scott chose to replay his interview with his pal, Sam Bird. When Scott originally interviewed Sam, it was a 2 part interview because they simply had a lot to talk about so Scott wanted to honor that conversation by replaying part 1 this week and part 2 next week.  When Scott first interviewed Sam last year, Sam was no longer with the Walt Disney company…but he is again! He started back with them this past April and, in total, Sam has been with them now for 20 years!  His current position is a stage technician. He did the install of the new "Rogers the Musical" at the Hyperion Theatre in Disney's California Adventure. He's involved in automation with that production, which means he maintains and operates the show and makes sure that everything works properly.  Since their interview, Sam and Scott have become good friends and continue to text, call, and FaceTime each other fairly often. As a matter of fact, when Scott was in Disneyland this past February, he and Sam spent a magical day together in both Disneyland Park and Disney's California Adventure AND two other former podcast guests, Kate Harrow and Savannah Harrow, joined them, as they all know each other. Kate and Savy SHOULD know each other…they're sisters...but you get the gist! In today's episode, Sam talks about the different roles he's had at The Walt Disney Company including stories from his time in the Art Department. He also talks about repelling down from the ceiling in it's a small world, working on the holiday overlay for Jungle Cruise and Haunted Mansion, working on Frozen at the Hyperion, and being a test rider on the Tower of Terror.  We know that you're going to love hearing Sam's stories, whether it's for the first time or if you're listening again. The struggles are over! But Envision seemingly had a hand in their own demise by refusing to play team orders with Nick Cassidy destroying his car as Sebastien Buemi swiped across him! Who was in the wrong? We also talk about the tame Race 2 as the rain led to a 90-minute delay, and then a race that had next to no action in it at all as Nick Cassidy would dominate to take 2nd in the Championship and the Teams Title for Envision Racing, one of the originals getting their big moment! Sam Smith and Andrew van de Burgt are joined by Nissan's Sacha Fenestraz to review a spectacular Rome EPrix that saw several twists in the hitherto close 2023 title battle. Jake Dennis emerged as the clear favourite after winning the second race on Sunday, with his joy accelerated by the fact his two most direct championship competitors collided on the second lap. Also discussed is the catastrophic accident triggered by Sam Bird losing control of his Jaguar and the near misses that ensued, particularly for Antonio Felix da Costa, Edoardo Mortara and Bird himself. The knock-on effect of that shunt also included some remarkable stories on how new monocoques were allocated throughout the paddock. How do you create an environment where everyone present feels comfortable to participate?  In other words, how do you get Shy Native Youth to speak up? What do you do when Indigenous youth are speaking up and they're tremendously pissed off?  Our host for this series, Sam Bird, explores these questions through conversations with three Indigenous young people: Elycia Monaghan, a Kitikmeot Inuk medical student at NOSM University, and former member of the Tree of Peace Friendship Centre Youth Council. Maximilian Guenther and Pascal Wehrlein made Jakarta a German fiefdom last weekend as the Maserati MSG and Porsche drivers stole the show with a win apiece. Sam Smith and Andrew van de Burgt decipher how they did it and how Guenther in particular dominated so many sessions and then the second race in the sultry Indonesian conditions. Nick Cassidy's messy weekend is also dissected, as is Mitch Evans' herculean third place, which came just a day after he was drop-kicked out of contention by his own teammate Sam Bird, for a second time this season. Jake Dennis' recent form has looked ominous and with his happy hunting ground of the London ExCeL Arena track to come at the end of July, Sam and Andrew discuss whether or not this makes him the title favourite. The recent departure of Formula E CEO Jamie Reigle is also mulled over as the all-electric world championship now enters a new epoch under the stewardship of new CEO, Jeff Dodds. Hey Fandom! Welcome back for another episode of Trash Talk Roundtable with your Challenge Fandom Podcast hosts Rick, Corrina, Josh, Tony and Cory! We did it! We are officially here at the end of MTV's The Challenge season 38 Ride or Dies. This season began in October 2022 but honestly, it feels like it's gone on for nearly a year now! So, come break down the finale with us! Start off by finding out why Tony says that horses get farted on the most, the red VS pink shirt debate, Fergie's National Anthem disaster, class clown stories, strange school mural paintings and which host says they'd die for Circle K (0:00 - 17:25). Next, we discuss Sam Bird and Emily Schromm's recent twitter beef and have a few debates about things like: why the advantage from the Noodle Dinner wasn't announced, if The Challenge is ready to be considered the fifth sport, how we are feeling about the time inconsistencies, who we are dubbing the true MVP of Challenge finals, our thoughts on the Corn Maze, whether we prefer finals to end on a mountain peak, what we are so upset is missing from this final and does TJ really hate girl farts? (17:25 - 58:15). Last, we discuss the quote of the night, how we are feeling about this modified version of 'Balls In', whether we think Nany was intentionally targeting Aneesa's injuries, overarching thoughts on the Post Apocalyptic Finale Zone, Olivia being dubbed the new age Barbie Beast, the biggest mistake of the entire season, how we feel about Bananas and Nany not finishing until the horn, season MVP's, rookies we want to see back and, if you can believe it, even more than that (58:15 - END). It has honestly been an incredibly fun season. We've laughed, cried, argued, agreed, had amazing guest hosts and were even able to all come together a few times. Thank you all for your love and support this season, we truly appreciate you all more than you know. Make sure you keep an eye out for our "off season discussion" episode next week and we will be back with Roundtable Recaps in a few weeks for The Challenge World Championship!
