FELIPE MASSA AND THE 2008 CHAMPIONSHIP NOW IN COURT!…WHO KNEW AND, WHO DIDN'T KNOW? WILL LCH BE FORCED TO HAND OVER 2008 GOODIES?...HOW COULD PIASTRI DROP OFF SO BADLY? COMPARED TO LANDO NORRIS! AND, THIS WEEK'S NASIR HAMEED CORNER WE GET NOSTALGIC WITH A LOOK BACK TO 2016...GP2 ENGINE AAAHHHH.... Felipe Massa's Legal Case: In 2023, Massa filed a lawsuit against the FIA (International Automobile Federation) and F1's governing body, arguing that the manipulation of the 2008 race — which he believes cost him the championship — was not only unfair but should have been investigated more thoroughly at the time. Key points in Massa's case include: Fraud and Misconduct: Massa alleges that the events surrounding the Singapore Grand Prix in 2008 were fraudulent and misrepresented to the public, and that this directly affected the outcome of the championship. Potential Victory: He claims that, had the safety car period not occurred due to the orchestrated crash, he would have won the race and the title. Timing: Massa's case is built on the assertion that new evidence (like testimonies from insiders and other facts) has come to light, suggesting that the true extent of the manipulation wasn't fully revealed or dealt with at the time. Why Now? Massa's legal action comes years after the original events, with the key question being why the case is being pursued so late in the day. Some speculate that Massa might have been waiting for the right legal grounds or new evidence to surface, or simply for a change in the FIA's leadership and its handling of such cases. Current Status: As of late 2023, the case was ongoing, with Massa and his legal team looking to secure compensation or possibly even a re-opening of the 2008 season's results. Massa has hinted that he might be seeking justice more than just financial recompense. The outcome of this case could have significant implications for F1 and how the sport handles cases of team manipulation, race fixing, or other forms of cheating. It also raises questions about accountability within F1 and the FIA regarding race conduct. Massa's lawsuit is likely to be a long and complex legal battle, given the intricacies of sports law and the FIA's position in the motorsport world. How sweep it is: Porsche takes all three IMSA titles. At the end of the day, you can't talk about a history of racing without a history of winning. After a season of sweat, heat, trading paint and swapping drivers, Porsche Penske Motorsport has taken all three 2025 IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship titles: Drivers', Teams', and Manufacturers'. No race—and no championship—is a given until the checkered flag drops. Yet after finding victory lane in the first four races of the season, there was definitely something in the air around Porsche Penske Motorsport. And with victories secured at Daytona, Sebring, Long Beach, and Monterey, the 963 was cementing its status as another legendary Porsche endurance racer. A string of strong finishes followed, all of them in the face of intense competition—which is exactly how racing should be. Because it's in the heat of the moment that you learn the lessons that make you better. All of them culminating at Petit Le Mans at Road Atlanta, where the whole Porsche Penske Motorsport crew took what they'd learned and made it official: they're the champs. The FIA have explained why Max Verstappen was left unpunished during the Mexico City Grand Prix during his hard-nosed battle with Lewis Hamilton. Meanwhile George Russell has revealed that part of his new contract at Mercedes includes a clause that if he meets a certain performance-based target, it will automatically be extended into the 2027 season.
F1TV expert James Hinchcliffe and former F1 driver Esteban Gutiérrez join Tom Clarkson in the paddock to dissect a chaotic Mexico City Grand Prix. A dominant Lando Norris converted pole into victory to lead the World Championship for the first time since Bahrain. He's now a point clear of Oscar Piastri with four races and two F1 Sprints to go, so how will the mentality of both McLaren drivers change now they've swapped positions in the standings? Max Verstappen finished third to score his sixth podium in a row, but having said Red Bull would need to be ‘perfect' for the rest of the season if he's to complete a sensational comeback in this title race, will Max leave Mexico the least satisfied out of the three championship contenders? Ferrari had a mixed weekend, with Charles Leclerc securing back-to-back podiums and Lewis Hamilton unable to convert his best ever qualifying for the team into his first podium. The guys discuss his 10-second penalty for leaving the track and gaining an advantage, and whether Lewis will have learnt any lessons from his battle with Max. Plus, how did Haas rookie Ollie Bearman deliver a career-best finish of P4? And could Mercedes have fought for a podium had they let George Russell pass Kimi Antonelli earlier in the race? The 2025 Formula 1 Season is here!. It's Round 20, the Mexico City Grand Prix - around the Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez. Lando Norris leads the Drivers' World Championship again. For the first time since he surrendered the lead to team-mate Oscar Piastri in April this year, Norris snatched the lead by a point with a commanding win in Mexico. However, it was FIA and Race Control that stole the limelight after questionable calls and penalties in the race. Was Lewis Hamilton's time penalty fair, and if so, why was Max Verstappen not penalised? Also, should Charles Leclerc have given up position to Hamilton? Race Control and Ferrari seemed to have miss that key moment! A lot of people were surprised as to why Lando Norris was getting booed following his Mexico City Grand Prix win, and an explanation has now been offered. Mexican F1 journalist Carlos Jalife from Fast Mag explained to Norris himself during the press conference that it dates back to the Italian Grand Prix, and McLaren's team orders during that race. Speaking of explanations, the FIA have also released a statement to explain why a Virtual Safety Car was deployed in the dying embers of the Mexico City Grand Prix.

The 2025 Formula 1 Season is here!. It's Round 20, the Mexico City Grand Prix - around the Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez. Let's get into the details & give our predictions for bangers & clangers shall we. My name's Tommo, let's talk about it.
Red Bull Racing have been given what the FIA call a significant penalty following the United States Grand Prix as they breached the International Sporting Code. Meanwhile Carlos Sainz has been given a five-place grid penalty for this weekend's Mexico City Grand Prix. The penalty was given for Sainz's attempted overtake on Kimi Antonelli during Sunday's US Grand Prix, where the two cars collided and the Spaniard had to retire from the race after.
There are just five races left to go in the frenetic 2024 Formula 1 season - and the stakes are getting higher. McLaren are still in the hunt for both World titles but, after a penalty for Lando Norris at the U.S. Grand Prix, the team must regroup back at base. The next race in Mexico is vital for the team if they are to keep Norris' hopes alive in the Drivers' Championship. The events in Austin saw the British star's title fight with Red Bull's Max Verstappen heat up. Will the Mexico race see it become even spicier? The race takes place at the high-altitude Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez and, at nearly 3,000 metres above sea level, that makes the Mexico City Grand Prix a unique challenge in F1. The cars are starved of air and the drivers have to work that bit harder too. All signs are pointing to another dramatic slice of action in the World Championship battle.Whatever happens on track, the Aston Martin team is preparing to toast a landmark in Mexico. It's here that double World Champion Fernando Alonso will make his record 400th Grand Prix start. At the age of 43, the Spanish legend is reflecting on his F1 journey so far while Formula 1 President and CEO, Stefano Domenicali, explains why Alonso is still an important reference in the sport. At the Silverstone Museum, overlooking the famous British racetrack, another event is also hoping to inspire the next generation of motorsport talent. F1 broadcaster Holly Samos and journalist Sarah Holt are also there to find out how the sport's female leaders are aiming to reach out to its young fans. Aston Martin Team Ambassador and racing driver Jessica Hawkins is meeting the young females hoping to make it all the way to the pinnacle of motorsport. Hawkins has driven a current generation F1 car - but the quest for the next female F1 driver to join the grid continues.Formula 1 is not only about looking to the future, it's also about looking back at its rich history. McLaren continues to honour one of the greats of their past - their magnetic three-time World Champion Ayrton Senna. The 2024 season marks the 30th anniversary of his tragic death at the San Marino Grand Prix held at Imola. For McLaren this was an opportunity to celebrate his legacy and impact in F1. Back at base, McLaren's Heritage Department is also working to preserve Senna's memory, rebuilding the car that took him to his final grand prix win. This history is at the heart of McLaren's modern ambitions too. This is a team that has won 20 World titles and it's down to 2024 drivers, Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri, to add to the growing trophy cabinet. The next race in Brazil - the birthplace of Senna - unites its history and current ambitions. But the Sao Paulo skies are ready to burst and throw the race weekend into chaos.F1:Back at Base is narrated by Josh Hartnett. It is created and produced by Sarah Holt and Holly Samos and is an IMG Production for the BBC.
What a difference a 20 second penalty makes. It was just last week we were ready to put the nail in Lando Norris' championship bid only to see the stewards this week wake up and realize maybe, just maybe, Max Verstappen needs a timeout. After two aggressive and some may say downright dangerous moves to keep Lando from passing him, we discuss what another week of spicy wheel to wheel battling means for the championship chase. While those two went after each other, we saw Ferrari once again benefit. This time around, it was Carlos Sainz, who may have had his best weekend all year, grabbing pole for the race. Though Max made an early run, taking P1, he snatched the position back, leading the rest of the way to the flag. With him and Charles Leclerc finishing 1,3, Ferrari is now in second place for the constructors championship and seem primed for a run.Take a listen as we break down the race, the Redbull's tough weekend, and the surrounding storylines of the 2024 Mexico City GP.

Tom Clarkson is joined in the paddock by former Haas and Sauber driver Esteban Gutiérrez and F1TV presenter Laura Winter to dissect an action-packed Mexico City Grand Prix won by Carlos Sainz. After the Spaniard explains why this victory was particularly emotional, Tom, Esteban and Laura discuss how Sainz recovered from losing the lead into turn 1, why he got the better of his teammate Charles Leclerc, and what contribution Carlos has made to Ferrari's transformation into championship contenders. Also on the agenda: were Max Verstappen's two 10-second penalties fair punishment for his moves on Lando Norris? Did Lando show he'd learned from their previous tussle in Austin? You'll hear what both drivers made of the latest twist in their title fight. Plus, after very eventful weekends for home hero Sergio Perez, Liam Lawson and Yuki Tsunoda, what will Red Bull Racing be thinking about their driver line-up for 2025? And how could Franco Colapinto have a part to play in any changes? Harry Benjamin, McLaren Formula E driver, Sam Bird, and BBC F1 correspondent, Andrew Benson, reflect on qualifying at the Mexico City Grand Prix, where Carlos Sainz took pole. Are Ferrari the favourites heading into the race? And what next in the battle for the title, with Max Verstappen qualifying in second and Lando Norris third?
Ahead of the Mexico City Grand Prix, Tom Clarkson sits down with Ferrari Ambassador Marc Gené to preview a crucial weekend for both F1 World Championships. In the Drivers' title fight, McLaren's Lando Norris needs a victory. Does he need to be on pole position to avoid needing to overtake supreme defender Max Verstappen, or does the long run to the first corner change the game? After Ferrari's 1-2 finish at the United States Grand Prix, Marc explains why they're confident the car can perform well again at Mexico's high altitude racetrack and how the team is feeling about a Constructors' Championship challenge. Plus, Marc and Tom discuss the drivers who need a good result: Sergio Perez who wants to ease the pressure on his place in F1, Williams' Franco Colapinto, who is still trying to claim a place on the 2025 grid, and Fernando Alonso, who is competing in his 400th Grand Prix.
