Welcome back to my Walk & Talk Series. Today, I'm sharing one of the biggest lessons life has taught me this year: when you change your environment, you change your life. As women, we often outgrow people, places, and versions of ourselves, and our growth requires us to be honest about what no longer feels aligned. I open up about leaving an East Side Los Angeles loft that no longer felt safe and moving into a nature-filled home near the ocean that I manifested through prayer, journaling, and faith. That shift didn't just change where I lived, it improved my health, creativity, business, relationships, and overall joy. We talk about the power of creating a home that supports your well-being through feng shui, energy clearing, and intentional living, while remembering that our body is our first home and deserves nourishment, movement, rest, and gratitude.I also share a heartfelt conversation about protecting your energy and being intentional about who has access to you. Sometimes growth requires editing your circle, releasing one-sided relationships, and creating stronger boundaries with those who take more than they give. I share the spiritual practices that help me stay grounded, including: breathwork, meditation, visualization, prayer, journaling, sage, and palo Santo and why having a small circle of trusted people can be one of the greatest gifts you give yourself. If you're navigating a season of change, healing, or reinvention, I hope this episode feels like a walk with a trusted friend who reminds you that you are allowed to choose peace, protect your energy, and create a life that feels good from the inside out.
Strengthening Your Supply Chain is critical because "A resilient supply chain isn't built in a crisis—it's revealed by one". Disruptions are inevitable but your recovery speed is what matters and in this episode we discuss strategies you can put in place to mitigate these challenges.
In this episode David discusses why supplier tiering is a strategic framework that helps procurement professional prioritise their supplier relationships based on value, spend, risk and performance. He also explains how supplier tiering evolves with market conditions, business strategy and supplier performance, so building in periodic reviews is critical.
"Trust, but verify." Carrying out careful due diligence in procurement is essential because it helps to make an informed decision, mitigate risks, and ensure compliance by properly assessing suppliers, business partners and clients.
In this episode Sonia and Josh join David in discussing the importance of taking the time to research the total cost of a purchase before you sign a contract. We know that sounds logical but it doesn't always happen, so ensure you have a plan in place to manage the unexpected changes.
Having a bulletproof tender evaluation plan makes sense - legally, ethically, for project success and also to ensure the best decision. So commit to it and make it happen, a solid evaluation plan is transparent, able to withstand scrutiny, and is imperative for good decision-making.

In the final episode of the Grid Talk Series on the EPRI Current, Maria Pope, President and CEO of Portland General Electric, joins Marty Rosenberg for a wide‑ranging conversation on how utilities are responding to historic demand growth without compromising reliability or affordability. Maria shares how PGE is using advanced analytics, grid-enhancing technologies, and large-scale battery storage to unlock new capacity from existing infrastructure and accommodate rapidly growing loads. The discussion dives into PGE's “growth pays for growth” approach, innovative rate structures, and the role customers play in funding grid expansion, while also exploring regional market coordination, renewable integration in the Pacific Northwest, and what today's surge in data centers signals for long‑term grid planning. In EPRI's Take, host Samantha Gilman meets with David Porter, VP for Electrification & Sustainable Energy Strategy and executive lead for EPRI's DCFlex initiative, about how data centers and other large loads can support grid reliability. David highlights three key flexibility opportunities at data centers – shifting compute workloads, optimizing auxiliary systems, and using backup generation and energy storage to manage peaks. The conversation also looks ahead, emphasizing the flexibility of demand across all electrified loads and the growing role of transportation electrification as a shared grid resource. In this episode our special guest Glenn Tomai discusses what drew him to the field of Internal Auditing, he talks through the impact internal adutiting can make across the organisation and how AI is changing his role.
There is a saying "Fraud thrives in silence" meaning fraud is never obvious and it's often hidden in plain sight. Fraud is a threat that touches every department, and prevention is everyone's responsibility – Not Just managements.
Surging electricity demand is pushing the grid to its limits, prompting regulators and innovators to expand the system without sacrificing reliability or affordability. In this episode of the Grid Talk Series on The EPRI Current, Marty Rosenberg meets with Ann Rendahl, President of the National Association of Regulatory Utility Commissioners (NARUC), a commissioner with the Washington Utilities and Transportation Commission, and a member of EPRI's Advisory Council, to explore how state regulators are navigating rapid changes to the electric grid. Rendahl discusses the sharp rise in electricity demand and its implications for rates, infrastructure investment, and long-term reliability. They also discuss how regulators are working to protect customers from stranded costs, balance an evolving generation mix, and manage growing risks from wildfires, cybersecurity threats, and climate impacts on hydropower. To get EPRI's Take, host Samantha Gilman speaks with Morgan Scott, EPRI's VP of Global Outreach Partnerships, about where innovation is most urgently needed as electricity demand accelerates. Scott highlights the increasing load data centers could account for by 2030 and explains why meeting that challenge will require advances in generation, grid-enhancing technologies, and flexibility at both the customer and data center levels. She also reframes the conversation around affordability – distinguishing the rising cost of electricity from its growing value within the broader “energy wallet” for consumers. Procurement Talk welcomes special guests David Morgan and Joshua Byrne to discuss why "Whistleblowing" is so important and the linkages between procurement, contract management and fraud. We also discuss the market leading "Whistleblowing" service available through Veremark.
In this episode David discusses why procurement thresholds and delegation of authority are foundational to good governance and smart spending. Procurement thresholds are like the "speed limits" for spending – designed to balance efficiency and control, while Delegation of Authority is like the "driver's licence" – defining who is allowed behind the wheel at what speed.
In this episode David talks about why aggregated procurement is more than just a cost-cutting tool, it's a strategic approach to buying that fosters collaboration, efficiency, and innovation. It is about buying smarter, ensuring alignment, transparency and a shared vision.
In this episode of the Grid Talk Series on the EPRI Current, Marty Rosenberg sits down with Elliot Mainzer, President and CEO of the California ISO, to discuss how the state navigates extreme grid stress during record-breaking demand. Elliot reflects on California's all-time peak of 52,000 megawatts during a historic heatwave and the extraordinary measures taken to keep the lights on. From emergency load reduction programs to extending the life of Diablo Canyon, the conversation highlights how flexibility and innovation are critical for reliability. Elliot shares insights on the growing role of demand response, virtual power plants, and customer engagement in preparing for rapid spikes in energy use. This discussion underscores why adaptive strategies are essential as electrification and climate extremes reshape grid operations. To get EPRI's Take, Samantha Gilman meets with Eamonn Lannoye, Director of EPRI Europe, to discuss similar trends across global markets and the importance of regional cooperation for reliability. They explore expanding transmission needs, advances in higher‑voltage and HVDC systems, and the push to optimize existing grid capacity through grid-enhancing technologies, including EPRI's GET SET initiative.
