RUNDOWN Mitch Levy and guest co-host Danny O'Neil react to Julio Rodríguez's surprising All-Star selection and question whether he belongs among baseball's elite. The duo debates the greatest individual season by a Seattle athlete over the past 30 years, considering iconic performances by Ichiro, Ken Griffey Jr., Randy Johnson, and Shaun Alexander. They factor in stats, MVP honors, cultural impact, and surprise value. Jason D. Hamilton joins the show to share his experience walking 72 holes in a single day at the Bandon Dunes Summer Solstice event. He recounts the physical toll, unexpected challenges, and personal reflections, along with a look at family updates and Mitch's plans to attend an NIL-era college basketball tournament in Las Vegas. Mariners No-Table, Joe Doyle and Brady Farkas, return to discuss the Mariners' recent success, including a sweep of the Pirates and strong outings from Brian Woo. They revisit the Julio All-Star debate and urge fans to move on from Robbie Ray. The group also previews upcoming series against the Yankees and Tigers. Finally, Mitch welcomes MLB Pipeline's Jim Callis to preview the Mariners' draft strategy with the No. 3 pick. School is back in session for the gang's senior year. Joey is excited to get through this to what's next, and Pacey's just excited to be around her. That only lasts until the end of the first day, when new temporary guidance counselor Mitch -- apparently on leave from his job as general manager of the restaurant -- calls Pacey in to tell him that instead of on the True Love he should have been in town making up the three junior classes he failed in summer school. Mitch alerts Dawson that Pacey's in big trouble, and though Dawson is a bitch about it, he does hear it when Mitch suggests that he pass the news on to someone who does care if Pacey lives or dies. Speaking of whom: Joey needs a job, and Andie recommends that she apply to wait tables at the yacht club, which is full of cute rich boys and big tips...here at the end of the tourist season. Never mind: Joey takes Andie's advice and lies about connections to big wigs on the club board, getting her hired on the spot, and putting her in the path of "Owen Ross," scion of the family she claimed to know. Jen is starting to get antsy that she hasn't heard from Henry in a while, but no, his email account isn't offline: he gets in touch with Jack just fine, wussily asking HIM to tell Jen Henry wants to take a break. RUNDOWN Mitch and Hotshot break down Super Bowl 59, admitting their lack of enthusiasm for both the Eagles and Chiefs fan bases but finding unexpected entertainment in the blowout. They discuss Tom Brady's underwhelming debut as a Fox analyst, noting his lack of personality and insight compared to past greats like John Madden. Reflecting on the halftime show, Mitch wonders if he's officially aged out of enjoying Super Bowl performances, realizing how modern entertainment trends no longer resonate with him. Dr. John Osborne joins the show for his annual heart health discussion, emphasizing the importance of a coronary artery calcium (CAC) score—a quick, affordable test that can detect heart disease decades before symptoms appear. He debunks common cholesterol myths, explaining that genetics play a bigger role than diet and that HDL (the "good cholesterol") isn't as protective as once thought. With heart disease remaining the leading cause of death, he urges listeners to take proactive steps through prevention, lifestyle changes, and early screenings. The Mariners No-Table tackles Seattle's frustrating offseason, dissecting Jerry Dipoto's comments suggesting the team didn't have many holes to fill despite an anemic offense. While Dipoto takes criticism, analysts Joe Doyle and Brady Farkas argue that ownership's unwillingness to spend is the real obstacle, leaving glaring gaps in the lineup. They also discuss potential prospect call-ups, bullpen depth, and whether the current roster is strong enough to compete in 2024. Christian Capel from On Montlake breaks down Washington football's eventful offseason, including major coaching staff turnover and roster changes through the transfer portal. He evaluates the Huskies' top-25 recruiting class, the challenges of retaining talent in the NIL era, and expectations under new head coach Jedd Fisch. With a Big Ten schedule ahead, the program looks to rebuild and position itself for long-term success.
