Billy TeedanCoach Teeden just finished his 10th season as the Head Boys Basketball Coach at Plant City High School. He has led the Raiders to 8 regional appearances and a district championship title. Prior to coaching and teaching at Plant City, he was the Head Boys Basketball coach at East Bay High School. In six seasons, he became the all-time winningest coach in school history, while winning three district championships and had a regional final appearance.Coach Teeden has been named Hillsborough County Western Conference Coach of the Year seven times. In 2024, Coach Teeden was the FABC 7A coach of the year. In 2010, Teeden was named the William Bethel Coach of the Year, an award given to a coach who turns around a basketball program at a school that struggled in the past. Teeden has also been the head coach for the 16u Nike Team Florida AAU Team.Coach Joseph WillisCoach Willis just finished his 8th coaching season with the Plant Panthers boys' basketball program. During his time at Plant, the Panthers have had a overall record of 143-75. His Plant teams have won 3 straight district titles (2023, 2024, 2025) and he has been named American Division Coach of the Year the past two seasons. Willis' Plant teams have also won 2 Hillsborough County GPA titles in his time at the school. Although it was his 8th year at Plant, it is his 19th year as a head coach in the county. Coach Willis previously coached at Bloomingdale High School and prior to that at Lennard High. At Bloomingdale, Coach Willis guided the Bulls to their first district title since the 1996 season and first regional semi-final appearance since 1994. During that season he was named the Federal Division Coach of the Year. Prior to coaching in the high school ranks, Coach Willis spent time coaching collegiately at High Point University (2003-04), Saint Leo University (2001-03) and the University of South Florida (1996-2001). Coach Willis played one year of college basketball at Webber College (now Webber International University) and through his high school basketball experience at East Lake HS, he earned All-Pinellas County Honorable Mention his senior year. Coach Willis earned his Bachelor's degree in Physical Education from the University of South Florida in 2000 and his graduate degree in Educational Leadership at Saint Leo University. He lives with his wife Ellen, and daughters Maggie and Elise.

In our first episode of a new 2025 season, hosts Ellen Boyd (NCSPRA Executive Director) and Kevin Smith (Orange County Schools) chat with Susan Allred and Dr. Beverly Emory Britton, co-authors of a new book that is quickly becoming a standard text for educators now preparing to lead in a time of rapidly shape-shifting challenges. In "Stuff That Works, Works!" our guests, good friends and richly experienced education leaders at the local and state level, argue that in uncertain times, truth and hope remain as the constant anchors for schools and school leaders. Through systems of continuous improvement focused on serving each and every child, leaders ensure the quality and efficacy of public schools for the communities they serve and help to build. Their stories in this episode are just a sampling of what readers will find in the book, which was published in late 2024. Their own experiences and interviews with education leaders from North Carolina, South Carolina, Ohio, and Kentucky are the subject of this text which is already assigned reading for doctoral students at High Point University and the subject of book clubs and discussions bringing educators together. Susan Allred is a mentor in continuous improvement processes, having served public schools for 42 years. After working as a teacher and administrator, she came out of retirement to help improve low-performing schools across Kentucky in the administration of commissioner Dr. Terry Holliday. She lives in the mountains of North Carolina. Dr. Beverly Emory Britton is a leadership coach for public schools, having served public schools for 41 years. Following her tenure as a teacher, principal, PIO, and superintendent, Dr. Emory (or "Bev") served as Deputy Superintendent in the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction and a leader for school communicators and administrators in our state during change management processes that included the state's response to COVID-19. Brian Roller is the Assistant Director of Sports Performance at Jacksonville University where he oversees the training for the Dolphins' baseball, women's soccer, and beach volleyball programs. Roller joined JU in 2021 first as an assistant coach before being promoted to assistant director in 2023. He spent two years as an assistant coach at High Point University after completed his graduate assistantship at St. John's University from 2017-2019. They shared the story of how Ron Wanek presented Uncle Tommy with a touching silver dollar keepsake. Following their adventure from High Point Market, they made their way to the Convention Center at High Point University. This is where the Furniture Industry Awards Gala would be hosted, and Broad River Retail would be recognized as the Retailer of the Year. They recounted the story of getting access to the green room where they could change and get ready prior to the cocktail hour and the start of the show.
