When COVID restrictions threatened to cancel this year's Taste of the Arts Festival, its host organization, Arts United, got busy and virtually reinvented the entire celebration. Thanks to the generosity of Arcpoint Productions, the event's co-sponsor, many of the perennial activities were translated to concert-quality videos, including all of the music, dance and theater performances, which will take place on three virtual festival stages throughout the day. Restaurant Row, Artlink's Art Market and NIPSCO's STEAM Park are also making their products virtually available to festival goers. These will all be accessible from Arts United website, Facebook Live, and YouTube Live, with the ability to support participating artists directly. Meanwhile, several partner organizations have planned to host safe and socially distanced events on site in cooperation with Taste of the Arts to preserve the traditional festival flavor of the day. To learn what the event will look and sound like from this new online platform this weekend, WBOI's Julia Meek invited its technical director, Luke Holliger into the studio to discuss the scope of such a challenge, and what process his team devised to make it happen. WBOI Artcentric is brought to you by WBOI's own Julia Meek and Ben Clemmer. Our theme music is “Me voy pal campo” by KelsiCote. Our administrative assistants are Olivia Fletter and Brittany Smith. Our production assistants are Monica Blankenship and Mikaela Veltum.

The best thing about this week's episode is Dan & Dave's discussion of Civilization V - no other simulator can compare with an epic of such scale! That said, the best thing about this episode is actually Pandemic: The Cure - no other game provides a better simulated experience for budding doctors than this dice adventure! When all is said and done however, the best thing about this week's episode is Steam Park - where else can you while away the hours cleaning up robot poop and building fun rides? Which leaves us with Talisman - easily the best thing about this week's episode! If you're wondering what all this "best thing about" is you really need to head over to Youtube and check out "Why Heroquest is so great" by Bardic Broadcasts. It really is the best thing about YouTube! This week's beer is the Australian made Japanese beer Kirrin - First Press! 00:00 - Intro 01:23 - Quest for Sponsorship - Kirrin First Press 03:28 - Civilization V 13:32 - Pandemic: The Cure 23:57 - Steam Park 29:54 - Talisman (Digital) 42:25 - Kirrin rating Buy games at Here Be GamesFollow us on FacebookWatch us play games on YouTube or Read our articles on the website.
Ambie, Cassadi, and Crystal discuss Keyflower, FUSE, Pixel Tactics, and City of Remnants, along with our "Accessory" of the Week - 3D printers, games that have unique themes, and the origins of the word "dice."

By Paco Garcia Jaen, Michael Chamberlain and Max Murray Steam Park comes from the company that entertained us with Dungeon Fighter released this lovely looking game at Spiel 2013. With cute looks and some delightful art work by the same artist that gave Dixit its idiosyncratic and recognisable feel, the assembly parts that come with this game do promise quite a lot. The charming theme, creating your own theme park to entertain and delight your visitors. Simple, right? Not so fast! You’ll have to keep your park clean and well looked after to earn money, and if you also complete your missions successfully, you’ll make even more money! And all this in a family game! We sat around and had a game to find out if Steam Park is as family friendly and as lovely as it seems. Hope you enjoy the show!
