Cosmic Inflation and The Big Bang: What Scientists Aren't Telling You In this comprehensive video, we tackle the intricate relationship between theology and physics, focusing on the Big Bang Theory and its controversial origins. The James Webb Space Telescope's recent discoveries have added another layer of complexity, showing large, mature galaxies where we expected to find simple, young ones. In this episode Chris delivers Opinion Scholarship on the idea of Nothingness and the Zero-Energy Universe Hypothesis in modern physics. He compares these ideas and their implications to humanity's oldest myths about the creation of the cosmos...and finds some striking parallels! In our myths we find a primordial mystery existing before existence from which 2 equal and opposing deities are formed. In physics we find the mystery of the quantum vacuum from which 2 equal and opposing particles are formed. In the case of myth, God created Ex Nihilo--from nothing. In the case of the Zero-Energy Universe, the whole of the cosmos was created Ex Nihilo--from a state of zero energy! Enjoy ;)

Our journey of faith begins at the very beginning of the story as we encounter a God who creates everything from nothing with only a word. He also creates us in his image so that we can share in his creative work.

Life is chalked full of disasters – moral failure, job loss, divorce, injustice, bankruptcy, serious illness, death of a dream, death of a loved one. Nothing can be harder on us – or our faith – than when disaster strikes. So this Sunday we will consider what happens with faith meets disaster. How can/should faith make a powerful difference when disaster strikes? This is the second installment in our new sermon series exploring what it means to live by faith on a practical, operational level.

Did we ramble on way too long in this episode? Absolutely! Is it jam-packed, filled minute to minute with informative and gripping content? Debatable... but we had fun recording it. One thing's for sure, and you know it's always a safe bet, is that we bring up fragrances from DS & Durga, Byredo, Arquiste, and of course, Ex Nihilo but in between talk about getting weird in the studio, 60-something art witches, and covering up cigar smoke with dryer sheets. Geoff Blanning, a former investment manager, is the author of the white paper “Put Tools Away Now, Please” and is co-producer of the Cobden Center documentary film “Ex Nihilo, The Truth About Money”. The objective of the film was to make the complex world of finance accessible to the average person and educate the public on the monetary system. He aims to persuade politicians to make changes to the UK's Bank of England and stem out the overwhelming cost of living squeeze. The Cobden Centre's view is to create sustainable growth by having an “honest money” that preserves its purchasing power across generations. This requires a constrained central bank balance sheet, preventing chronic inflation. The expansion of the balance sheet has led to money being pumped into sectors such as property and financial which has led to a disparity of money and resources between sectors. Geoff talks about the effects of financial sector speculation and how it misallocates labour and resources. He mentions the British government's target to combat inflation and mentions cryptocurrency as an example of misallocated resources. He identifies possible solutions such as education and political change, and notes that it will take a crisis to push this change in the right direction. He also explains the idea of 'monetary socialism' and how the interest rate should be set by the market for a more sustainable and less volatile monetary system.
