Po Valley Energy (ASX:PVE) – Cash-Flowing Italian Gas Producer Eyes 4–5x Growth

Interview with Kevin Bailey, Executive Chairman & CEO of Po Valley EnergyRecording date: 27th October 2025Po Valley Energy, a $60 million Australian-listed natural gas producer operating in northern Italy's Po Valley basin, represents a compelling investment case built on immediate cash generation, visible production growth, and alignment with Europe's energy security priorities. With a single well currently producing and plans to drill multiple additional wells over the next two years, the company offers exposure to premium European gas pricing in a geopolitically strategic market. The company's sole producing asset, the Podere Maiar well in the Selva Malvezzi concession, has delivered consistent performance since commencing production in 2022, flowing 79,000-80,000 standard cubic meters per day and generating approximately $10,000 AUD in daily revenue. Operating at 60% free cash flow margins with minimal overhead costs of just $2 million AUD annually, Po Valley maintains a debt-free balance sheet with $15 million AUD cash on hand.Russia's invasion of Ukraine in February 2022 fundamentally transformed Po Valley's economics and strategic positioning. Gas prices, which historically traded at €0.20 per standard cubic meter, now rarely fall below €0.30 and frequently trade at €0.50 or higher. The Italian government, having reduced domestic production from 40% to just 8% while becoming dependent on Russian imports, is now actively encouraging producers to accelerate development and restore indigenous supply.Po Valley plans to drill 4-5 additional wells over the next two to three years, targeting known anticlines that ENI identified during exploration campaigns in the 1950s-1970s but did not fully develop. The company estimates this program will cost €35-40 million, of which its 63% operated interest represents approximately €22-25 million. With current cash reserves and ongoing production expected to fund 60%+ of requirements internally, Po Valley anticipates needing only modest debt financing or a small equity raising to complete the program. Once new wells are connected, production is expected to increase 3-4x to over 300,000 scm/day.Chairman and CEO Kevin Bailey, who owns 25% of the company through open market purchases, has emphasized Po Valley's focus on shareholder returns rather than empire building. Management intends to return capital via dividends or buybacks once the drilling campaign is complete, with no interest in acquisitions or expansion beyond core assets.Beyond its producing concession, Po Valley owns the offshore Teodorico asset containing approximately 37 billion cubic feet of 2P gas reserves, valued at $40-50 million AUD in 2022 - nearly equal to the company's current market capitalization. While not planning independent development, management will derisk this asset for potential sale to larger European operators.View Po Valley Energy's company profile: https://www.cruxinvestor.com/companies/po-valley-energy-limitedSign up for Crux Investor: https://cruxinvestor.com

Putting the customer at the heart of innovation

Featuring Alessandro Orsini, PETRONAS Lubricants InternationalIn episode 50 of the F+L Webcast, Alessandro Orsini, the marketing guru of PETRONAS Lubricants International (PLI), shares his insights on building value and differentiation in today's lubricants market.Understanding customer strategy is the starting point in understanding your role as a fluid partner, says PLI's Group Marketing and Customer Excellence Leader. With more than 30 years of experience at ENI, Shell, and PLI, Orsini broke down PLI's value chain as a global lubricants player that manages 3,000 stock keeping units (SKUs) in more than 100 countries. His explanation touched on how research, technology, blending, packaging, logistics, and customer engagement work together to create customer impressions in a single interaction. From Orsini's perspective, customisation isn't a marketing gimmick; it's a business priority with strategic implications. He shared that in PLI, research and technology spending is fuelled by specific customer needs. Such commitment leads to research investment both globally and regionally: while PLI's technological strength is most visible in its global research centre in Turin, Italy, supplier and customer dialogues are concentrated in regional research hubs around the globe. These research centres operate responsively, considering factors such as unique fuel compositions and mechanics' preferences per market so that the company is enabled to localise innovation before products hit the shelves.A long-term commitment to putting the customer first has led to some of PLI's most innovative breakthroughs. Orsini discusses a partnership with a top European truck manufacturer that needed to outperform competitors in fuel consumption reduction and sustainability. PLI worked closely with the manufacturer to co-develop its engines and PLI's lubricants over the course of 10 years, resulting in the world's first ultra-low viscosity (SAE 0W-16) engine oils for heavy-duty vehicles to date. The ultra-low viscosity oils, released under PETRONAS Urania, were groundbreaking. They guaranteed a 3% fuel savings compared to standard (SAE 5W-30) engine oils and showed significant improvements in CO₂ reduction. Pushing back against the view of lubricants as commodities, Orsini concluded, “Lubricants are not a commodity—given the right customer partners and the technological commitment, you can create something really distinctive that goes beyond the expected possibilities.” In the current economic climate, industrial and commercial customers aim to reduce the total cost of ownership and meet sustainability targets. Co-development of fluids is key to these goals. For consumer audiences, however, overcoming the pain associated with going for an oil change, and perception of lubricants as generic items demands more effort in customer engagement and communication. Greater need for engagement, shared Orsini, dictates PLI's effort and care towards customers' physical and virtual interactions with the brand. For B2C customers, PLI focuses on improving the oil change experience. PETRONAS-branded workshops provide clean, welcoming spaces and expert advice, addressing customer pain points and thereby building customer trust. On the digital front, PETRONAS Lubricants International's LinkedIn account is filled with entry-level educational content about lubricants, automotive care, industrial vehicle care, and the brand's own updates. The account has more than 530,000 followers, making it the top in its category.

Inside Maker Faire Rome 2025: Europe's Festival of Innovation and Creativity

By Billy Linehan Maker Faire Festival of invention Maker Faire Rome is a family-friendly festival of invention, creativity and resourcefulness. It brings together creators, tinkerers, artists, scientists, engineers and enthusiasts of all ages to showcase their projects, share ideas, learn from each other and connect. Each year the fair attracts a wide range of participants from across Europe and beyond. The 2025 edition, held at the Gazometro Ostiense site in Rome, showed how Italy presents technology as something open to everyone rather than the preserve of specialists or companies. It is a public meeting place where ideas, skills and tools are shared. Curated by Innova Camera The event is promoted and organised by Innova Camera, the Special Agency of the Rome Chamber of Commerce, with support from the Italian Trade Agency and other public partners. ENI, Italy's leading energy company, was the Platinum Partner for Maker Faire Rome 2025, showcasing its work in sustainable energy and innovation. Readers can see my first report on the event, published in Irish Tech News , which gives background on the fair's scale and purpose. This follow-up looks at what stood out for me in 2025 and why Maker Faire Rome continues to matter. A city of invention Rome becomes a city of invention for three days. People attend to show what they have built, not simply what they intend to sell. Exhibitors range from individual hobbyists to full university research groups. Companies such as Digikey and Arduino are there alongside independent makers. Robots, devices made from recycled materials and new teaching tools for electronics and coding are all on display. The organisers placed a stronger emphasis this year on sustainability, digital manufacturing and human-centred technology. Makers tackling real problems Across the halls and marquees, the emphasis was on solving practical problems. Many exhibitors focused on energy, agriculture, health and sustainability rather than consumer gadgets. The DAFNE project (Digital Agriculture Framework for the Networked Economy), led by the University of Tuscia, focused on combatting the Xylella pathogen that attacks olive trees. It showed how crop-protection research can connect scientific study with practical farming applications. At the University of Siena, a public health team presented UV-Heroes , a device for disinfecting stethoscopes that addresses a genuine hospital hygiene issue. Access to digitised heritage Elsewhere, the Rome-based startup Scan Heritage demonstrated both 2D and 3D digitisation of cultural and archival materials. Their work creates accurate digital copies of documents, artefacts and objects to support preservation, study and public access. The approach has some similarities with Ireland's Virtual Record Treasury of Ireland, as both protect fragile archives through digital access. These examples reflected a grounded approach to technology, linking design with real-world needs. Highlights from the fair With hundreds of exhibits spread across four gasometers, halls, pavilions and outdoor spaces, Maker Faire Rome covered everything from electronics and robotics to applied research and digital art. I focused on projects where ideas are being put to use, alongside creators working with materials and form. A lively robot-football tournament drew large crowds. The SPQR team from Sapienza University of Rome played against visiting teams from the Netherlands and Germany, showing how academic research can be turned into fast, reactive machines. Swiss maker Manuel Imboden presented his Open Source Satellite Kit, an open CubeSat model that helps beginners understand space technology. A former film producer, Imboden turned to electronics and engineering during the pandemic and has since built an online following through his YouTube channel. Technology with a Human Purpose Several research projects showed how technology supports social and medical work. The Pet Robots research team from the Universit...

O sea, esas cosas van a continuar".

Moçambique: Cabo Delgado volta a estar a ferro e fogo

Eni Aluko was the darling of the woke establishment—until one comment about Ian Wright brought it all crashing down. After our explosive debate on Heretics, she sent me a barrage of private messages, revealing far more than she intended. What started as a polite disagreement became one of the most controversial moments in sports punditry. Why was Eni really forced out of the Women's Football Awards? Why did the media turn on one of their own? And how did she become the target of the very outrage culture she once championed? In this video, I break down: - The viral moment that got Eni cancelled - Her private messages to me—and what they reveal - Why her comment about Ian Wright was the wrong target at the wrong time - The silent rebellion inside football against woke orthodoxy - What this saga tells us about race, gender, and power in modern media This is more than a media scandal—it's a story about identity, hypocrisy, and the fragile rules of the woke game. And for once, Eni Aluko wasn't holding the cards.

Trans women should use toilets according to their biological sex, according to the equalities minister Bridget Phillipson, this is in response to the UK Supreme Court's ruling a week ago on the legal definition of a woman. The Prime Minister Keir Starmer has welcomed the decision, saying it provides much needed clarity, and his office has confirmed that the Prime Minister no longer believes trans women are women. There have been protests against the decision, with critics saying it is incredibly worrying for the trans community. The ruling followed a long-running legal battle between the Scottish Government and the campaign group For Women Scotland. Susan Smith, one of the directors, gives her reflections on the outcome, a week on. The historian Tiffany Watt Smith traces the evolution and messy realities of female friendship across the past century in her new book Bad Friend. Tiffany talks to Clare about bad friends through history: the romantic school girls of the 1900s; office gossips; mum cliques; angry activists; and the coven – women who choose to live together in old age – to the present day. The former lioness Eni Aluko had a hugely successful career as a player making over 100 appearances for England. Since then she's gone on to have an equally successful career as a pundit, becoming the first woman to appear on Match of the Day in 2014. Earlier this month her name was in the headlines following the outcome of a civil court hearing involving the ex-footballer Joey Barton. In the first stage of a High Court libel case the Judge found that online posts made by Joey Barton about Eni and her family were "defamatory". Mr Barton is yet to respond, and can appeal, or defend the statements if the case proceeds to trial. In a separate criminal case involving both parties Joey Barton has pleaded not guilty to allegedly posting offensive comments on social media. An Army of Women is a documentary that follows a group of women in Austin, Texas who took on the legal systems that they feel let their rapists walk free – specifically by filing lawsuits against the police department in Austin and the district attorney's office in Travis County, which prosecutes cases for the county. Those suits were settled in 2021 and 2022. The documentary debuted at the South by Southwest Festival last year, and is being released here in the UK from this Friday. Clare speaks to documentary director Julie Lunde Lillesæter and Hanna Senko, who was the lead plaintiff in one of those lawsuits.Presented by Clare McDonnell Producer: Louise Corley
