It's the very first of our Ko-Fi Member Selections and first up, from our good pal Ruddy Rutherford, is Therapy?'s 1994 release, Troublegum. The album was shortlisted for the 1994 Mercury Music Prize and is brand new to both Corey and Kev, so it was a brand new, fresh listen for both chaps! But what will Kev like a cover of a Joy Division song? Will Corey's North American rock sensibilities be challenged by a band from Norn Ireland? And where will the album finish in our overall rankings? The only way to find out is to turn on, tune in, and forget about that!Songs covered in this episode: "Knives", "Screamager", "Hellbelly", "Stop It You're Killing Me", "Nowhere", "Die Laughing", "Unbeliever", "Trigger Inside", "Lunacy Booth", "Isolation", "Turn", "Femtex", "Unrequited", "Brainsaw"Don't forget to follow us on social media and leave us a rating/review if you're enjoying the show!Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/UltimateCatalogueClashBluesky: https://bsky.app/profile/ucatalogueclash.bsky.socialDiscord: https://discord.gg/76F8G8FEX8Ko-Fi: https://ko-fi.com/ultimatecatalogueclash Hosted on Acast. The guys follow that up with talk of ex-Machine head guitarist Phil Demmel's recent exit from Bay Area thrash kingpins VIOLENCE and him joining Kerry King's lineup while keeping his involvement a secret for four-and-half years. Episode 48 of Season 5 aired at 19h00 on 1 Dec 2022 on Rebel Rock Radio.  It was a tricky show because of the wifi signal jumping in and out.  The podcast is 100% so that is a small mercy I am thankful for.  We kicked off with a double header in the form of the first two tracks on W.A.S.P's magnum opus The Crimson Idol.  From there is was a bit of Southern Rock from Whiskey Myers and then over to Ireland for some Therapy? and a track called ‘Unbeliever' off the clritically acclaimed Troublegum.  We stayed with the late ‘80s type guitar driven rock with Badlands and a track called 'Dancing on the Edge'.  The Badlands debut album with Jake E. Lee, Ray Gillen, Eric Singer and Greg Chaisson was the first CD I ever bought and has a special place in my heart.  Black Sabbath and Thin Lizzy classics ‘Killing Yourself to Live' and 'Some Day She's Going to Hit Back' were up next and then from these classics we got up to date with two albums released in the last month; Soilworks' Overgivenheten and Sakis Tolis's Among the Fires of Hell.  Mötley Crüe's track ‘Motherfucker of the Year' off Saints of Los Angeles elicited some nominations from the listeners, so I will collect a few more and we can discuss that another time.  The Offspring and Blink 182 hit the spot for the ‘90's kids.   We spent a lot of time talking Metallica, they dropped a first track off the new album 72 Seasons this week and the 2023/24 Tour is kicking off soon.  They are doing two gigs per city with different opening acts and different sets each night.  I played Pantera, Five Finger Death Punch and Mammoth WVH all of who will be part of the M72 Tour.  To end off we checked out the ladies, Taylor Momsen and Lzzy Hale and said farewell and RIP to Christine Mc Vie of Fleetwood Mac who passed away this week.  We listened to her play and sing ‘Oh Daddy' off the multi-million selling Rumours album.  SA bands were a bit thin on the ground tonight but we squoze in The Uninvited and The Burning before saying cheers and playing out with KISS and their anthem ‘ Let me Go Rock ‘n' Roll.  Thanks for listening, much appreciated.  Cheers until next time.  Artists featured:  W.A.S.P, Whiskey Myers, Therapy? To Here Knows When - Great Irish Albums Revisited

In this episode Andy Cairns joins me to chat about the writing and recording of Therapy's debut album Nurse released on A&M records in 1992. In a long conversation we discuss: Therapy's move from Wiija Records to A&M and accusations from the time of “selling out”; the band's 30th anniversary and recent tours; early gigs with Babes in Toyland; the influence of Belgian New Beat; writing Nurse in a farmhouse in Co. Carlow; recording at Loco Studios in Wales; the release of ‘Teethgrinder' as their debut single on A&M; early support from John Peel; the band's background growing up in Northern Ireland during the Troubles; attending gigs in Belfast in the late 80s and early 90s; touring America with The Screaming Trees; the remastering of both Babyteeth and Pleasure Death; the SharpShortShock EP, Troublegum and working with producer Chris Sheldon; playing Monsters of Rock at Donnington Castle 1994; Therapy's cover version of Hüsker Dü's ‘Diane' and Andy's heroes Grant Hart and Pete Shelley and more.

S5E16 aired on 21 Apr 2022 on Rebel Rock Radio.  Load shedding had been suspended so the amount of distraction and chaos was reduced significantly from last week.  We kicked off with a track titled 'Washed Away' by Craig Goldie, and Vinnie Appice of Dio fame's outfit Resurrection Kings.  Sadly we are currently experiencing a lot of Natal being washed away so it's relevant to our troubled times.  Next up, some Deep Purple, a track called Spanish Archers off their 1987 effort titled House of Blue Light.  This features the classic Mark II line-up and the album has been overlooked by many.  The next hour was full of typical TSORR rock and metal, we got fluffy with The Eagles, sleazy with Mötley Crüe, heavy with Pantera, and energized by Chickenfoot.  As mentioned before Joe Satriani in Chickenfoot is simply amazing.  We checked out 'My Name is Allen' off Stone Sour's House of Gold & Bones to mark the fact that Stone Sour will be featured on the next Rock Review and then we had a track off Troublegum, that magnificent ball of venom released in 1994.    We did a little feature based on the Phil Wright tapes, I am working through old cassettes of Phil's shows and featured two of the tracks I dug up, 'Love is a Killer' by Vixen, and A cover of The Small Faces classic 'All Or Nothing' by Tygers of Pan Tang.  We checked out the new Red Hot Chili Peppers and gave thanks for the return of John Frusciante.  No disrespect to Josh Klinghoffer, it's just that John is part of the genetic structure of all the things I do like about RHCP.   As usual in the last hour, we get a bit more off the beaten track and check out rare and amazing stuff Like Roger Kaye's home recording of 'Lucifer Lives in the Whitehouse' and a track off Deangersmith's latest EP Vocabular Vacation.  the track was called 'Escape From Johannesburg' and that is indeed a worthy goal.  For the rest, we had some classic Iron Maiden, Avenged Sevenfold, and Sepultura.  We took a quick look at Rick Rubin's work with ZZ Top and Johnny Cash, check out his podcast with Lex Fridman for context.  Hope you enjoy it and spread it the TSORR word.  Cheers m/  Artists featured:  Resurrection Kings, Deep Purple, Jetboy, The Eagles, Mötley Crüe, Hell Yeah, Pantera, Megadeth, The Dust Coda, Beastie Boys, Chickenfoot, Stone Sour, Therapy?, Avenged Sevenfold, Iron Maiden, My Chemical Romance, Nickelback, Richard Thompson, Anti-Flag, Scorpions, Tygers of Pan Tang, Vixen, Sham 69, Stiff Little Fingers, Roger Kaye, Deangersmith, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Sepultura, Tyler Bryant & The Shakedown, Thin Lizzy, Manowar, Man As Machine, Neil Young & Crazy Horse, The Uninvited, The Doors, ZZ Top, Johnny Cash, Francois Van Coke, Kid Rock, Volbeat.

On this week's Crowcast, we're delighted to welcome frontman of legendary rockers Therapy?, Mr Andy Cairns. Therapy? are a rock band from Northern Ireland. The band was formed in 1989 by guitarist-vocalist Andy Cairns from Ballyclare and drummer-vocalist Fyfe Ewing. Therapy? recorded their first demo with Cairns filling in on bass guitar. To complete the lineup, the band recruited Larne bassist Michael McKeegan. The band signed with major label A&M Records in 1992, for which they released four albums, most notably Troublegum in 1994 and Infernal Love in 1995. Ewing's departure in early 1996 preceded the arrivals of his replacement Graham Hopkins, and Martin McCarrick on cello and guitar. Neil Cooper replaced Hopkins on drums in 2002. Following the departure of McCarrick in 2004, the band have remained a stable three-piece since. This has been edited from an episode from our weekly show that streams LIVE @ 9pm Every Tuesday on Facebook LIVE, TWITCH and YOUTUBE.https://www.thosedamncrows.com/crowcastvideo See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.

Those who love Therapy?, and those who haven't heard them yet.  We chat a little about the history of the band (or rather Rob delivers a lecture) before we talk about our relationships with one of the most important bands of the 1990s. After that we go through their most critically and commercially successful album track by track. This is one record where the age difference between the hosts doesn't matter as its just an absolute piece of work. Sam remembers me and our other brother just playing it relentlessly and, once driving licenses were obtained, going to Therapy gigs almost every other week!!! This is a really important record and band for us, Sam admits to keeping it in a special box with loads of precious memories, reaching for it on important occasions while I've listened to as much as any other album I care to think of. So join us as we chat about one of the most important, underrated and vital bands of the last 30 years whose influence, craftsmanship and energy is still as strong in 2021 as it was in 1994.www.recordsandbands.com Hosted on Acast.
