    On this week's episode we are joined by English musician, producer and songwriter Nick Van Eede. The decade of the eighties threw up a host of timeless tunes and Nick and his band Cutting Crew certainly contributed to this with the classic "I Just Died In Your Arms" which was a global chart topper. We discuss the impact of this song on the band many dubbed an overnight success. However Nick had years of touring with bands such as Slade, Hot Chocolate and David Essex before forming Cutting Crew in the mid-'80s with Kevin Scott MacMichael, Colin Farley and Martin Beadle recording three albums, Broadcast, The Scattering, and Compus Mentus, before the group broke up in 1993.     Damon Minchella is a base player who was a member of the band Ocean Colour Scene for 14 years. The band were one of the biggest of the Brit Pop era and sold millions of records scoring five top ten albums and 15 top 20 singles. When Damon left the band he would go on to play in Paul Weller's band, racking up equally impressive chart stats and playing live across the world. Damon's reputation as one of the UK's most talented bassists saw him in much in demand playing live or in the studio with greats as Paul McCartney, The Who, Jimmy Page, Doctor John, Paolo Nutini, Amy Winehouse, Richard Ashcroft and Oasis.     Liam Ó Maonlaí is a founding member of the Irish band Hothouse Flowers. Liam blends an eclectic mix of folk, blues, gospel, soul, rock, and more with his amazing vocals and an array of instrumental mastery from piano to flute, harmonica to bodhran. Liam formed the Hothouse Flowers in 1985, cutting their teeth busking on the streets of Dublin their reputation grew and soon they would sign to U2 label, Mother Records, releasing the single "Love Don't Work This Way". The first album “People” would be released through London Records and was hugely successful with the global hit “Don't Go” which the band played at the interval at the 1988 Eurovision Song Contest propelling the band across the world.     Billy Steinberg is an American songwriter who was inducted into the songwriters hall of fame in 2011.     Episode 103 - Colin Blunstone

    On this week's episode we are joined by Colin Blunstone, Colin is an English singer, songwriter, and musician. He started his career in 1962 while still in school as a singer and founding member of The Zombies where he remained until the band split in 1968. The group had British and American hits with "She's Not There" and "Tell Her No". Shortly before the band split, they released their masterpiece, Odessey and Oracle, featuring the mega-hit “Time of the Season” and the beautiful "This Will Be Our Year”, with the album being credited by many musicians as the best of that decade. In 1971 Colin released his debut solo album "One Year” which was co-produced and partly co-written by The Zombies co-founder Rod Argent. Hits such as "Say You Don't Mind", "Caroline Goodbye" and the haunting "Old and Wise" recorded with Alan Parsons Project, would follow. By the start of the new Millennium, Blunstone and Argent were inspired to resurrect The Zombies, which has led to several critically acclaimed new albums including the 2023 release "Different Game" which has been met with very positive reviews.  A special thanks to Sacha at Hush PR for arranging the interview.     Peter Dillon is an Irish stunt coordinator, stunt performer and actor. Having spent several years working as a secondary school teacher in Ireland, Peter took a career break in 1998, which saw him trek the Himalayas to an altitude of 18,000 feet, teach scuba diving in the South China Sea, and further his study of Chinese Martial Arts in Malaysia and China. Arriving in New Zealand it wasn't long before he made the transition into stunt acting in 2001, on "The Lord of the Rings" Trilogy. He has since worked on lots of projects and his credits include "The Chronicles of Narnia", "Underworld", "Vikings", "Penny Dreadful" James Cameron's "Avatar" and the recent box office hit "Dungeons and Dragons: Honor Among Thieves".     Sananda Maitreya started his career with the stage name Terence Trent D'Arby, he is an American singer and songwriter who came to fame with his debut studio album, Introducing The Hardline According To Terrence Trent D'Arby. The album was released in 1987 and included the singles "If You Let Me Stay⁠", "Sign Your Name", "Dance Little Sister", and the number one smash hit "Wishing Well". The Release of his second album in 1989, Neither Fish Nor Flesh, was very different from his debut, and music critics seemed eager for Sananda to release music in the tone and style of his successful debut. Although not a commercial success the album has grown in recognition over the years. Sananda continues to preform and record music with the release of his 12th studio album, "Pandora's Playhouse" and the documentary "Welcome To The MadHouse: The Costa Rica Sessions" which is available to stream on YouTube.     On this weeks 100th episode we are joined by Gavin Friday. Gavin, born and bred in Dublin is a singer, songwriter, composer, actor, painter and all round Irish legend, best known as a founding member The Virgin Prunes who were one of Ireland's most ambitious post-punk groups. Gavin left The Prunes in 1986 going on to record several solo albums and soundtracks. Gavin collaborated with Bono to write three tracks for the Jim Sheridan movie, In the Name of the Father, two of which were Bono-Friday vocal duets with Sinead O'Connor singing the third. He contributed the song "Angel" to one of the biggest selling soundtracks of all time - Romeo and Juliet as well as a full score for the films The Boxer, Angel Baby, In America and Get Rich or Die Tryin. Gavin still puts the same energy into his work that he did when he started the virgin prunes in 1977, whether recording his own albums or composing music. Billy is an American singer, actor, writer and music historian who's musical career spans decades and many different musical genres, from R&B to Soul and Country to Rock-n-roll.     Derek and Kieran are joined by broadcaster, journalist and author Terry Christian. A stalwart of the Manchester scene Terry has championed music from his beloved city throughout his career.  Terry first appeared on national TV in the show Devil's Advocate this would be the catalyst for a career in media. Terry hosted radio shows for the BBC and Manchester's Key FM. Moving back to TV Terry would become the host of Channel 4's iconic early 90's show The Word.  Here many groups would be playing live for the first time on British TV, including Oasis, Nirvana, Snoop Dogg, Public Enemy and Rage Against the Machine.     Episode 97 - Glen Matlock

    Kieran and Derek are joined by Glen Matlock. Glen is an English musician, and the original bass guitarist of the punk rock band the Sex Pistols. He is credited as a songwriter on 10 of the 12 songs on the Sex Pistols' only album, Never Mind The Bollocks. After leaving the Sex Pistols, Matlock went on to form the Rich Kids, with himself as bass guitarist and singer, Midge Ure.  A constant on the music scene he would play with The Philistines, Dead Men Walking and Slinky Vagabond while rejoining the original Sex Pistols members for the first of their many reunion tours (1996, 2002, 2003, 2007 and 2008). In April of 2022, Matlock was asked to join legendary New York band Blondie for their UK and US tours. Matlock remains a touring member of the group and is currently slated to appear on their forthcoming 2023 new studio album. Glen's long-awaited, timely and politically pertinent new solo album Consequences Coming will be released on April 27, 2023. A first single and video from the record “Head On A Stick” is released on January 27, 2023. Born in London in October 1964, Sam has been active in music industry from the age of 12. She came to prominence in the late 1980s as a solo artist, and released six singles that entered the UK Singles Chart during the 1980s and 1990s Brown released her debut album Stop! in 1988 and in total has released six studio albums, one EP, one live album, and three compilation albums, as well as three albums as part of the group Homespun. She developed serious problems with her singing voice in 2007 after which she stopped recording and singing live.
