John Sykes Tribute John Sykes' passing hits hard, partly because he was the same age as me. You don't expect to be making tribute videos for someone from your own generation—a peer who, for many of us, epitomised the 1980s rock dream. But more than that, John Sykes was a driven perfectionist with a distinct vision for his music. He left an indelible mark on the bands he joined, whether it was Tygers of Pan Tang, Thin Lizzy, Whitesnake, or Blue Murder. To his family—especially his sons—know that John Sykes was truly one of the greats. His riffs, solos, and larger-than-life stage presence continue to inspire guitarists all over the world. Jack Meille in conversation with David Eastaugh https://www.tygersofpantang.com/ The Tygers of Pan Tang were formed by guitarist Robb Weir (born Robert Mortimer Weir, 1958), Richard "Rocky" Laws (bass), Jess Cox (vocals) and Brian Dick (drums). They played in working men's clubs and were first signed by local independent label Neat Records before MCA gave them a major record deal. After several singles, they released their first album, Wild Cat, in 1980. 'Bloodlines' was released in 2023 featuring their two new members, followed by 'Live Blood' in 2024 showcasing songs from across the bands career. Recent gigs have shown a significant upturn in attendances and the Tygers will return to their original stomping ground, Whitley Bay, in November 2024 for a show at the prestigous Whitley Bay Playhouse.

Tygers of Pan Tang - Robb Weir Interview with Phil Aston Robb talks about the Fantastic new album from the Tygers of Pan Tang 'Bloodlines' as well as the early years, going through the classic albums, the difficult 90s and the rebirth of the band following an epic appearance at Wacken in 1999. Since then the band have gone from strenght to strenght constantly pushing themselves. We all know of New Wave of British Heavy Metal bands like Saxon, Tygers of Pan Tang, Def Leppard and Heavy Pettin' but these bands all put out some seriously melodic arena rock & AOR-styled albums in the '80s. It was a sign of the times and even though some early hardcore fans of these bands may discount those albums that those bands released there is no denying there were some great, albeit slightly "fluffy", moments from these normally rough and tough NWOBHM bands. Tom & Mark dive into a number of these bands and those melodic, keyboard-heavy records that had those bands shooting for the USA arena rock landscape, so hear it all on episode# 47 and be sure to let us know your thoughts on bands that didn't make it into the discussion.
