In this lively episode of REJUVENAGING with Dr. Ron Kaiser, filmmaker Tom Carroll joins the show to discuss his new comedy feature, The Stress is Killing Me. Tom shares how his background in advertising and corporate film production evolved into a passion for creating full-length movies. His film follows eight college friends at their 20th reunion who, facing midlife dissatisfaction, decide to change careers to chase their dream jobs—only to find that reality isn't as glamorous as their fantasies. Tom reflects on the real-world inspiration behind the movie and highlights the universal message: satisfaction often comes not from drastic change but from rediscovering value in the lives and careers we already have.Throughout the conversation, Tom and Dr. Ron explore the common midlife questions that so many successful individuals experience. They emphasize how frustration with a career doesn't always mean abandoning it; sometimes it means tweaking roles or rediscovering the deeper meaning behind your work. Tom explains how The Stress is Killing Me captures this idea with humor and heart, showing characters who attempt new careers, face hilarious challenges, and ultimately gain a renewed appreciation for their original paths. Their discussion resonates with audiences of all ages—especially those reflecting on decades of work and seeking new energy for the future.Dr. Ron and Tom also discuss the filmmaking process, the importance of laughter in tackling serious themes, and the universal desire to find joy and purpose at any stage of life. Tom encourages listeners to watch The Stress is Killing Me, now available on Amazon Prime Video and Apple TV. Direct Links to the Movie:

It is certainly a topic that everyone wishes to avoid, but Bethany brings four different real scenarios of where drugs or substance abuse entered the workplace. She and Dr. Kuba discuss the signs in each of these very diverse scenarios, and they discuss the action that each practice owner took. While it is not a fun topic to consider, it is more prevalent than anyone would like to admit. It is critical to address potential substance abuse situations with grace and also with swift action. It's the very first of our Ko-Fi Member Selections and first up, from our good pal Ruddy Rutherford, is Therapy?'s 1994 release, Troublegum. The album was shortlisted for the 1994 Mercury Music Prize and is brand new to both Corey and Kev, so it was a brand new, fresh listen for both chaps! But what will Kev like a cover of a Joy Division song? Will Corey's North American rock sensibilities be challenged by a band from Norn Ireland? And where will the album finish in our overall rankings? The only way to find out is to turn on, tune in, and forget about that!Songs covered in this episode: "Knives", "Screamager", "Hellbelly", "Stop It You're Killing Me", "Nowhere", "Die Laughing", "Unbeliever", "Trigger Inside", "Lunacy Booth", "Isolation", "Turn", "Femtex", "Unrequited", "Brainsaw"Don't forget to follow us on social media and leave us a rating/review if you're enjoying the show!Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/UltimateCatalogueClashBluesky: https://bsky.app/profile/ucatalogueclash.bsky.socialDiscord: https://discord.gg/76F8G8FEX8Ko-Fi: https://ko-fi.com/ultimatecatalogueclash Hosted on Acast. Women apologize more than men. Why is that? This episode looks at the likely reason and it may surprise you. https://journals.sagepub.com/doi/10.1177/0956797610384150 Marijuana has come a long way. A few decades ago, it was considered a very dangerous and illegal drug. Today, recreational use of marijuana is legal in a lot of places and smoking it is just not a big deal. While people have their beliefs about it, what does the science say? What is in marijuana? How has it changed? Is it dangerous or not? Here to tackle all those questions and more is Godfrey Pearlson. He is a psychiatric researcher, physician, and Yale neuroscience professor. He has authored a book on the subject called The Science of Weed: An Indispensable Guide to Cannabis (https://amzn.to/48IZJcF). You know that feeling you get when you know you know you are right and someone else is wrong? In some ways It is maddening but in other ways it feels very satisfying to feel right. Yet, it might also be a sign that you have fallen into the certainty trap. And that can be a problem. Joining me to explain the certainty trap and the dangers it presents is Ilana Redstone. She is a professor of sociology at the University of Illinois at Urbana– Champaign and author of the book, The Certainty Trap: Why We Need to Question Ourselves More―and How We Can Judge Others Less (https://amzn.to/3YEBWGp). Your furnace and central air conditioner are pretty reliable and ask very little of you. But there is one thing those systems really need that a lot of people just don't attend to. And it could be costing you money and putting strain on the equipment. Listen and I will explain. Source: Jeff May author of My House is Killing Me (https://amzn.to/40HBBoN). This Flashback Friday is from episode 173, published last June 11, 2010. Jason is feeling generous… Enjoy an entire free issue of The Financial Freedom Report. Here is our source for innovative, forward-thinking investment property and home-based internet business strategies and advice. Income property investing is the most reliable path to wealth. History has proven it time after time. So, why do people still waste their time and energy with Wall Street's pitiful selection of junk stocks and laughably inefficient mutual funds? Who knows? Our guess is financial media payola and herd mentality – like buffaloes following the leader in a blind charge over a cliff. Finally, here's your chance to discover how to create real wealth in America today. Obviously the question is “How do I get there from where I am?” This insurmountable hurdle is what stops most people. They have a hyper-inflated concept of how much money it takes to get started. The truth is,”Not That Much!” The sky really is the limit when you have access to the right information. Information that tells you whether or not an investment makes financial sense the day you buy it. You need to know: Why you shouldn't believe the “national housing market” myth:– 41 cities around the country hot for investing right now and the hottest micro-markets within them.– How to tell at a glance if a property is a sweet deal and, more importantly, how to avoid the portfolio killers.– Government policies that are destroying your savings, stocks, bonds, mutual funds and equity every single day.– Secret ways you can grow wealthy from inflation while everyone else is moaning “The Economy is Killing Me” blues.– How to apply unique arbitrage techniques to income property and skyrocket your wealth, while almost completely eliminating downside risk. These may be pretty bold claims but income and wealth education pioneer, Jason Hartman, has built a career and a company on putting his money where his mouth is. If you want to create the kind of life-changing wealth Wall Street and other investment schemes promise but never deliver, Jason's team of Investment Counselors would love to tech you how. They decided the best way to get this cutting-edge investment knowledge out to you is in a premium monthly newsletter, Jason Hartman's Financial Freedom Report. This newsletter is like nothing you've seen before. It vanquishes the guesswork and uses clear language to describe the strategies of how you can implement income property investing the right way. Re-create the exact steps Jason used to become a multi-millionaire. In addition, expect spot-on analysis of the real world of property investing in each lengthy, full-color, wealth creating issue. We strongly suggest that you do not take the risk of investing without it. If you are exhausted from trying what doesn't work and ready to create significant wealth in your life right now and protect what you've earned, the choice is very simple – Jason Hartman's Financial Freedom Report. It's $197 annually for email edition; however, you can enjoy this issue with our compliments. My F3 story is probably somewhat unique. No one person “EH'd” me. Somewhere, in the back of my brain I had heard about F3 probably near its start in Knoxville.During the pandemic, I decided to do P90X at home. I went through the 90 days and really enjoyed the workouts, how I was beginning to feel, and the new energy I had. However, around the 45 day mark I found myself muting Mr. Tony Horton during the workouts. I knew them almost all by heart and the repetitive nature of them was KILLING ME. Once school started back in the Fall of 2020, I had given up on continuing P90X and wasn't working out. However, I found something. When spending the summer of 2020 applying for and interviewing for Administration jobs in Knox County Schools, I noticed that two of the principals I was interviewing with were “mutual friends” with my old buddy Andy, aka “Dimples”. I was able to tell that they were friends because they all “liked” F3Knoxville. I looked it up, poking around on social media and the website, and thought it seemed cool. There was even a location 5 mins from my house! That was in June/July of 2020.I changed jobs in November of 2020, becoming an Assistant Principal at Carter High School. Because of COVID restrictions and having to be at the school at 7:30 am each morning to take the temperature of the students as they entered the building, I thought that there was no way that I could get to this F3 workout, come home, shower, get ready, and make it to school in time.
So often, there is a spoken and unspoken pressure to push your practice as far as it will go. Grow. Grow. Grow. Push. Push. Push. So many well-meaning people apply pressure to dentists to grow their practice into something massive. There tends to be a simple definition of success that every practice owner is fed, and then they spin their wheels always working to achieve. In this episode, Bethany and Dr. Kuba talk about an experience Dr. Kuba had recently where a well-meaning advisor pressured her to push her practice toward a destination. Through dialogue, Dr. Kuba was reminded that she is content in her practice. It is providing for her family. It is providing good careers for her team. It is focused on quality care, and it allows her to support her family and aging parents. She discusses the importance of finding contentment in the practice, knowing that it will ebb and flow with life goals. While she attends school like a normal teenager, she targets a specific vampire in her free time. However, when Saki confronts the vampire, none of her attacks are effective, giving her enemy an opportunity to drink her blood. The vampire—using the name Miyoko Kujou—claims that she has no intent to kill Saki before declaring that she actually loves her. The encounter ends there, but Saki continues to face Miyoko at school. Miyoko has made a habit of drinking Saki's blood, and while she may say otherwise, Saki quickly succumbs to pleasure. Despite the gratification she receives from this interaction, Saki always tries to kill Miyoko immediately afterward. Is this a sense of loyalty to her position as a vampire hunter, or is it something else entirely?

Bethany embarks on her third “rendezvous and record” session! Dr. Marr is a pediatric dentist in the Dallas, TX area. After many years successfully growing her private practice, she has a fresh and encouraging perspective built upon reflection, positivity, and overall gratitude. She shares with listeners the importance she places on reflection, even if that means getting away alone to truly evaluate the things that bring joy and stress. Once a person has evaluated the joys and stresses they have, they can make better goals and better decisions. In addition, once a person can identify what brings them true joy, they can intentionally incorporate those things into life and lean into the joy they should bring. These moments of intentional joy can push us through the difficult times. Dr. Marr reminds listeners that as we set goals for team members, they need to be individually beneficial for them. Finally, she ends with gratitude and an encouraging reminder that we all are extremely blessed. Enjoy meeting the wonderful Dr. Marr! Indie horror flicks are the lifeblood of the genre. Without standouts like Halloween, Night of the Living Dead, or even Saw, the genre would be a bunch of sanitized Hollywood mainstream junk food. But for every Evil Dead, there is a Town That Dreaded Sundown. Where does You're Killing Me fall? That's what we're here to find out. Like what we do? Consider leaving us a review on the podcast app of your choice. Reviews help us get noticed and gain new listeners like you! Our podcast is ad-free, and we'd like to keep it that way. Kath and Jan are joined by old theatre pals and long-time married couple, Michael Shepperd and Hutchins Foster. We reminisce about the old days in Chicago when Kath, Jan and Michael were in “The Good Times are Killing Me” at City Lit, which was supposed to run for 6 weeks and ended up running for over a year, and is considered by all of us to be a true career highlight. Jan speaks of a very dark time in her life and how Michael managed to shine a little light on her to help her. We talk about Michael and Hutch's meet-cute at that infamous seedy bar in Brooklyn. We plug their various projects, including their YouTube channel @boozinwithgays4123 (can also be found on Facebook facebook.com/boozinwithgays) and how sometimes the demon gin can cause their own broadcast to devolve into fighting. We plug Michael's latest show Blood at the Root at Open Fist (www.openfist.org). Michael recalls his beloved mom Choice and how by the time Michael was of age, she was kind of over cooking, since she had six children, but many decades apart. Hutch remembers a series of Salvadoran housekeepers who had to do all the cooking under the tutelage of Sally, his glamorous mom. Kath tells the story of how she begged Hutch for five years to get his family's famous eggnog recipe – which she finally did. Michael tells Jan how to properly cook a pork chop. We talk about who cooks in the marriage (Hutch) and how their kids feel about food. It was so great to catch up with old friends who we don't get to see that much, even though we live in the same damn city, but that's LA for you. A terrific conversation – listen in!
