 "Love is patient and kind; it does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud". 1 Corinthians 13:4 "Love is the only force capable of transforming an enemy into a friend." – Martin Luther King Jr. This profound truth reminds us that love transcends all barriers, uniting humanity in ways that words alone cannot express. In a world often marked by division and strife, love stands as the universal language that connects us all, regardless of our backgrounds or beliefs. In 1 Corinthians 13:4-7, we are reminded of the beautiful qualities that define love. “Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud.” These attributes encourage us to embrace love in our daily lives, fostering relationships that bridge gaps and build understanding. When we choose to embody these qualities, we create spaces where empathy and compassion flourish. Romans 12:9-10 says, "Love must be sincere. Detest what is evil; cling to what is good. Be devoted to one another in brotherly love. Outdo yourselves in honoring one another."  I remembered a story of two neighbors who had long been at odds over a property line dispute. Their animosity grew over time, creating a chasm between them. However, one day, one neighbor decided to bake cookies and deliver them to the other as a gesture of goodwill. This simple act of kindness broke down the walls of resentment and opened the door to meaningful dialogue. Eventually, they resolved their differences and forged a friendship built on trust and mutual respect. Likewise, as we navigate our own lives, let us remember the power of love to heal wounds and mend broken relationships. “Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins” (1 Peter 4:8). By practicing patience and kindness, we can break barriers that divide us and foster a sense of belonging in our communities. Proverbs 10:12 says, Hatred stirs up dissension, but love covers all transgressions. Amen. Prayer for the Day! Dear Lord, help us to embody Your love in all our interactions. May we strive to be patient and kind, breaking down barriers that separate us from one another. Fill our hearts with compassion so that we can reflect Your light in this world. In Jesus' name. The same study found that Generation Z (ages 18-22) is the loneliest generation, with 79% reporting feelings of loneliness. Social isolation is as harmful to health as smoking 15 cigarettes a day. Loneliness can increase the risk of premature death by up to 50%.   All indications point to the fact that our culture is: More DISCONNECTED than ever Why? The reasons behind this epidemic include the prevalence of smaller and further-flung families, the decline in traditional social institutions such as faith organizations, an increasingly individualistic culture, technology, and social media. ~ Reporter Dan Minchin   Our culture has torn down many of the social institutions and habits that once formed a more healthy relational society No more front porches No more family reunions Social media is actually less social Church attendance decline   Many experts are now arguing that it is actually the HABIT OF CHURCH that lies at the center of this crisis… From an article titled: CAN RELIGION MAKE YOU HAPPY? “People who do have a strong sense of religious practice in their life—they just tend to be happier,” he says.” They tend to be happier people. They have a greater sense of organization in their life. They have a better sense of community. They have an underlying physics to their life, and they're not trying to figure things out in the same way. And life is complicated. There are things that are going to pull you in every direction all the time. And it's nice to have something that you can actually count on, whether you agree with every single part of it or not.” ~ Arthur Brooks: Professor at the Harvard Business School   This shouldn't surprise us Genesis 2:18 Then the Lord God said, “It is not good for the man to be alone. Cultivates all we have. 1: Connecting all we can Walking into a room of strangers Seeing someone you know If loneliness and isolation is a big problem Connection is the answer Connecting takes intentionality doesn't happen by accident   To be a connecting church, it will take… A Missionary Mindset To reach our culture, we must think more like missionaries Romans 10:14-15 14 How, then, can they call on him they have not believed in? And how can they believe without hearing about him? And how can they hear without a preacher? 15 And how can they preach unless they are sent? As it is written: How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news.   As a church, we are called to help the DISCONNECTED in our towns CONNECT with God and Christian Community How can you do this? Just finished a series on CALLING Who is God calling you to? Make the effort to CONNECT with those around you   How is the church doing this? Connect Process Relational spaces Ministries Serving Groups 2: Caring for all we're Sent Care is POWERFUL It's what people remember   Why is Care so important?   The “ONE ANOTHER” of Care in scripture 1 Thessalonians 5:11 11 Therefore encourage one another and build each other up as you are already doing.   John 13:14 14 So if I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also ought to wash one another's feet. Romans 12:9-10 9 Let love be without hypocrisy. Detest evil; cling to what is good. 10 Love one another deeply as brothers and sisters. Take the lead in honoring one another.  Romans 12:15-16 15 Rejoice with those who rejoice; weep with those who weep. 16 Live in harmony with one another. Do not be proud; instead, associate with the humble. Do not be wise in your own estimation.   Galatians 6:2 2 Carry one another's burdens; in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ.   Colossians 3:12-13 12 Therefore, as God's chosen ones, holy and dearly loved, put on compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience, 13 bearing with one another and forgiving one another if anyone has a grievance against another. Just as the Lord has forgiven you, so you are also to forgive.    1 Thessalonians 5:14-15 14 And we exhort you, brothers and sisters: warn those who are idle, comfort the discouraged, help the weak, be patient with everyone. 15 See to it that no one repays evil for evil to anyone, but always pursue what is good for one another and for all.   Caring is: Forgiving Serving Carrying Bearing Living in harmony Loving Encouraging   Connect to Care Tells us what others are in need of How can you do this? Make the effort to be there for others Not just Facebook comments Go to hurting people   How is the church doing this? Care Ministry We care best for those who are CONNECTED Lastly… 3: Cultivating All We Have Being taught to “BE USEFUL” No one owes us anything, so learn to be someone others can count on What are you bringing to the table   This is at the heart of CULTIVATION   We are not just “SAVED FOR HEAVEN” Fire insurance Christianity If that is all you think it is, you may not be saved   This is what Jesus' brother James wrote to the church… James 2:14-18,26 14 What good is it, my brothers and sisters, if someone claims to have faith but does not have works? Can such faith save him? 15 If a brother or sister is without clothes and lacks daily food 16 and one of you says to them, “Go in peace, stay warm, and be well fed,” but you don't give them what the body needs, what good is it? 17 In the same way faith, if it does not have works, is dead by itself. 18 But someone will say, “You have faith, and I have works.”[a] Show me your faith without works, and I will show you faith by my works. 19 You believe that God is one. Good! Even the demons believe—and they shudder. 26 For just as the body without the spirit is dead, so also faith without works is dead.   True Christian faith GROWS It's an action and a trajectory If our faith is a growing plant, then the CHURCH is the GARDEN Cultivate every person we can Every age group Every life season How can you do this? We are urged to present our bodies as a living sacrifice  Holy, pleasing to the Lord (life that is holy according to the Word  This true worship Do not be conformed to this age  Transformed by renewing our minds  To have discernment of God's will   Offering your whole self to christ daily     Sacrifice is a choice  We can do a lot of work for God and never give Him our body  They had to bring a living animal sacrifice so for paul to say bring yourself as a living sacrifice  The opposite of transform is to be conformed. He talking about renewing your mind. Because that where the battle is  We allow the Holy spirit to renew,, reeducate and redirect us daily through the Word    Everyone in the Body has a Gift, Use it Well Don't think more highly of yourself than you should  Think Sensibly  Each person has been distributed a measure of faith  Everybody does not have the same function  We are one body in Christ and individual still should be unified on the WORD  Our gifts have been given to us by grace. The gifts  Prophecy -use it according to the proportion of one's faith Those with the gift of prophecy should speak only when they are confident that the Holy Spirit is truly revealing something to them. After the dust settled from the MLB trade deadline on Tuesday, I'll get into a few of the trades that teams normally aren't in this position (i.e. Orioles, Marlins, Diamondbacks, etc.) at this time of the year and how they've set themselves up for this playoff chase. Of course, you know I have to throw in my rusty two red cents on the Mets. The "fire sale" that wasn't, turned into that did as they sent Justin Verlander to Houston on Tuesday. The course of this franchise has changed direction drastically, to the point that they are transitioning in 2024. Is that a good thing? Why have they done a 180? I'll unpack all of it, as well as, all of the latest in the division and wild card races with now less than two months to go in the regular season. (34:40) Are you ready for some football? Well, sort of. The NFL preseason kicks off tonight with the Jets-Browns playing in the Hall of Fame Game. Do I have any interest? The actual season commences five weeks from tonight with Lions facing the Super Bowl Champion Chiefs. Why I am NOT a fan of that game? The Denver Broncos have had a training camp to forget as they've had two players either suffer a season ending injury (WR Tim Patrick) or out indefinitely with a heart condition (WR KJ Hamler) (40:24) I haven't gotten into the US Women's Soccer Team performing in the World Cup as they were almost sent packing vs. Portugal. (Adam@TheWorldview.com) By Jonathan Clark Nigerian pastor's son killed by bandits Bandits in northern Nigeria killed a pastor's son last Friday. They also kidnapped the pastor's wife and three other family members. Peter Mukaddas, a local leader, told Nigeria's Daily Post that the bandits invaded the community in the early morning. Then, they headed straight to the pastor's house and carried out the killing and abductions. Mukaddas is calling on the government to rescue the pastor's family. Local police have been unresponsive. This continues the trend of Nigeria's government doing little to oppose such violence. He said, “We are fervently praying to God to touch [the kidnappers'] hearts so that they can see the wisdom to release them.”  According to Open Doors, Nigeria is the sixth most dangerous country worldwide for Christians. Tens of thousands participate in Spain's pro-life march On Sunday, tens of thousands of people joined the Yes to Life march in Madrid, Spain. Five hundred groups supported the event in an effort to oppose “all laws and practices that threaten life and human nature at any moment of its existence, as well as the businesses and ideologies that sustain them.” Last month, Spain passed legislation allowing girls as young as 16 to get an abortion without parental consent. Football Coach Joe Kennedy reinstated after Supreme Court win Last Wednesday, First Liberty Institute announced a Washington State school district has reinstated Joe Kennedy as their assistant football coach, reports CBN News. In 2015, the Bremerton School District suspended Kennedy for praying on the football field after games. The following year, he sued the school for violating his religious freedom. Last year, the U.S. Supreme Court heard his case and ruled in his favor. Hiram Sasser with First Liberty celebrated the reinstatement, “We are thrilled that Bremerton [High School] and Coach Kennedy are back together, and we hope they go undefeated.” Congress Overturns D.C. Legislation for the First Time in 30 Years   Last November, the Washington, D.C. City Council, inspired by the Woke Crowd, revised its criminal code to reduce penalties for certain crimes. They did this even as the nation's capital faces increased gun violence and carjackings.   However, because the District of Columbia is not a state, Congress has final say in the matter. Last Wednesday, the U.S. Senate nullified D.C.'s attempt to reduce criminal penalties. The House passed it on February 9th. And now, President Joe Biden said he will sign it. Perhaps they did so because the politicians live in D.C. and want to see criminals receive the maximum penalty.   It's the first time since 1991 that Congress has overturned local D.C. legislation.  The overturned legislation would have reduced the maximum sentences for carjackings and robberies. It also would have removed mandatory minimum sentences in most cases. Christianity in general was the most highly favored belief system. The next most favored system was Protestantism. Other groups like Roman Catholics, Lutherans, and Anglicans scored lower, but were generally viewed positively.  On the other end of the spectrum, Satanism and so-called “Church” of Scientology, founded by L. Ron Hubbard, received the worst favorability scores. They were followed by Jehovah's Witnesses, Islam, and Mormonism.  Dallas abortion mill shut down Praise God! The largest abortion mill in Dallas, Texas shut down earlier this month. It had stopped doing abortions since the U.S. Supreme Court overturned Roe  v. Wade last year. The mill was operational for 50 years, killing thousands of unborn babies. Texas Right to Life reports that “Southwestern Women's Surgery Center was owned by long-time, late-term abortionist Curtis Boyd, who is an ordained Baptist minister and bragged, ‘Am I killing? Yes, I am!'” Psalm 50:16 says, “But to the wicked God says: ‘What right have you to recite My statutes or take My covenant on your lips?'” World's most premature twins celebrated first birthday And finally, Guinness World Records reports the world's most premature twins celebrated their first birthday earlier this month. When Shakina Rajendram went into labor four months early, doctors told her the twins had a zero percent chance of survival. But, in God's providence, Adiah and Adrial are alive and well a year later. Disturbingly, the Canadian hospital denied the twins life-sustaining measures at birth. However, their parents were able to transfer them to Mount Sinai Hospital in Toronto for care.  Her husband, Kevin, said they clung to their Christian faith in the process.
