The early learning centers, operated by the United Planning Organization, provide subsidized care for lower-income families, many of them in Southeast D.C. Urad za Slovence v zamejstvu in po svetu je objavil nov nagradni natečaj za diplomske, magistrske in doktorske naloge s področja Slovencev v zamejstvu in Slovencev po svetu. Upoštevana bodo dela, ki so bila uspešno zagovarjana v tem letu, od 1. januarja do 31. decembra, napisana v slovenščini, italijanščini, nemščini, hrvaščini, francoščini, angleščini ali španščini. Strokovna komisija bo ocenjevala naloge z različnih področij na temo slovenskega izseljenstva oziroma zamejstva. Pri tem bo upoštevala izvirnost teme oziroma pristopa, »uporabnost« oziroma informativnost v smislu preučevanja oblik ohranjanja slovenske identitete zunaj meja Republike Slovenije in povezanosti z njo ter strokovnost, zahtevnost, splošno kakovost dela. Najboljše tri s posameznega področja bodo prejele denarne nagrade v višini 800, 600 in 400 evrov. Urad bo naloge sprejemal do vključno 20. februarja 2026, rezultati natečaja bodo znani najkasneje do konca septembra 2026.

Župan Globasnice na avstrijskem Koroškem in predsednik Stalne konference svetov avtohtonih narodnih skupnosti v Avstriji in predsednik tega organa za slovensko narodno skupnost Bernard Sadovnik je poslal odprto pismo članom avstrijske vlade na Dunaju. V njem izraža zaskrbljenost in nerazumevanje nad napovedanim občutnim zmanjšanjem finančnih sredstev za avtohtone narodne skupnosti zaradi uskladitve proračuna. Upoštevajoč 70 let podpisa ADP, 80 let konca nacističnega terorja – in z mislijo na 50-letnico Zakona o narodnih skupnostih ta korak ni le „politično nerazumljiv, ampak predstavlja tudi hud udarec v obraz vsem, ki se vsakodnevno zavzemajo za ohranjanje in spodbujanje jezikovne in kulturne raznolikosti v Avstriji. Člane zvezne vlade izrecno poziva, da to preprečijo in meni, naj se dogovorijo, da bo ob izboljšanju proračunskih razmer podpora narodnim skupnostim usklajena z inflacijo in finančno okrepljena. Že prejšnji teden so bili do vladnih načrtov kritični pri Narodnem svetu koroških Slovencev. Avstrijski parlament bo o proračunu za prihodnji dve leti po napovedih glasoval 18. junija. Pred tem bodo o osnutku razpravljali v pristojnih odborih in tudi na plenarnem zasedanju.

Računsko sodišče je v reviziji pravilnosti izvrševanja proračuna za lani podalo mnenje s pridržkom. Dev, Kev, Casey, and Upo watched Ari Aster's film debut, Hereditary. This modern classic does not disappoint. First time in a while where everyone agreed about the quality of a film. There were some laughs amongst the scares in this one. 

Kev, Casey, and Upo watched A24's latest horror masterpiece, Talk to me. After the internet claims that this is the scariest movie ever, it had some expectations to live up to. 

Well just a couple days ago on the 5th of August we married off one of the crew. We all love Briar like a brother and we were elated to be a part of his big day. Especially the Batchelor party. In typical UPO fashion we hitched up some boats and headed out in search of something to hunt and boy did we find it. Spooky Season 2022 Episode 3 (kind of). In this episode Casey, Kev, Dev, and Upo discuss the insanity that is Titane (ti·tan). Upon watching none of them really considers Titane to be a horror movie but there is definitely enough for you to sink your teeth into. Beautifully acted and utterly bizarre this is possibly the best of spooky season 2022.
