Welcome to Musicians Tip Jar where we talk about musicians and money. Here we debunk the myth about drummers and an IRA that only one will mature and make money. I'm your host Chris Webb joined by my co-host the rhythmic master who always knows when to come in, Dave Tamkin. Quote:“Timing is everything”… If you haven't guessed yet from our offbeat jokes we are excited to have the talented drummer Brian McRae on our podcast. But more than drumming, Brian is an entrepreneur at its finest, an innovator and just a damn nice guy with great stories. Today we dive into his story and how it led to being one of the first to offer creating a remote service to record drums on your projects. we kick it off, right after this. Just one bike (from each brand) - there are other brands however, this is our list Money is no object Can only pick ONE bike from each manufacturer on the list Must be the model year 2019 or 2020 Must be available in the United States Special or limited editions that require ordering are not eligible must be able to walk in a dealer and get one without waiting The conversation will center around two concepts. 1. What you feel is THE bike to have from each manufacturer 2. Which one YOU would choose they may not be the same, but the list is our choice not the bike from #1 if different. This is our second episode where we tackle the ins and outs of retirement plan discrimination and compliance testing. The first episode we released a few weeks ago hit on some of the core concepts around discrimination testing and laid five strategies to improve your results. Today, we pick up where we left off with the last episode and address some more complex concepts around discrimination testing. Thankfully, I have Chad Johnson, a fellow admitted 401(k) nerd, and Third Party Administrator with Plan Design Consultants to help us out. Over the years I have had numerous conversations with retirement service providers of all shapes and sizes on M&A, Control Groups, Grace Periods and Discrimination testing. Let me know if you agree, disagree or if we missed something you have questions about, shoot us an email at info@401kfridays.com. Guest Bio Chad Johansen is a self-proclaimed retirement-plan-aholoic. Official Website: http://www.lawabidingbiker.com Podcast-In this podcast episode we go into detail about the recent Polaris announcement that it will no longer manufacture Victory Motorcycles, effective immediately. The company will help dealerships in liquidating the current stock and will provide parts for its models for 10 years along with service and warranty coverage. Check out our Routine Maintenance & Oil Change for 2009 & Newer Victory Motorcycles with Freedom 106 V-Twin Motor Video Victory began in 1998 with sales peaking in 2012. Since then, they have declined over the years and in 2015, Victory represented only 3 percent of total Polaris sales. It is reported that Victory dealerships only sold about 20 motorcycles a year. Polaris has lost money in Victory 3 out of the past five years. Add in the recent recalls over the Slingshot and its side-by-side vehicles, and their decision to give up Victory is understandable. SEE MY YOUTUBE VIDEO ON POLARIS SHUTTING DOWN VICTORY HERE Check out the Official Law Abiding Biker Store! Of course, Polaris is chasing Harley-Davidson and wants more of the market and they may be able to do that by consolidating and focusing on Indian Motorcycles. Only time will tell. For a show that is all about the demise of Victory Motorcycles, episode 43 covers a number of industry issues beyond the recent business decisions made by Polaris - namely the tough climate in the US motorcycle industry, the evolution of rider tastes, the changing of the media landscape, the future, and beyond. We think you'll find this wide-ranging conversation to be very interesting.
To continue with the Victory Motorcycles farewell, we have someone who is passionate about Victory to bring to you. Our special guest Lloyd Greer from Lloydz Motorworkz, discusses his passion and experience in the aftermarket world to help improve Victory Motorcycles and build a loyal customer following. Two videos inspired us to reach out to Lloyd for this episode. Onwards and Upwards and Onwards and Upwards Pt 2Has 12 motorcycles, but his go to bike is a stripped down Victory Vision which puts out 240HP at the rear wheel! One of his customers is a 78 year young man with a 2013 Victory Cross Country. A supercharged model that puts out about 200HP with over 63,000 miles on bike.Lloyd is looking for the large front wheel custom trend to pass and thinks the next phase will be the performance Bagger or what he called the "Muscle Bagger".We are fans of the supercharger kit and were pleased to hear that Lloyd makes every part except the supercharger itself, which is from Pro Charger.Has been designing parts for Victory Motorcycles for last 20 years.EVENTS:Easyriders Bike Show Charlotte, NC January 21, 2017Rolex 24 hours at Daytona - Daytona, FL January 28-29, 2017American Flat Track Race - Charlotte, NC April 1, 2017Moto Vlogger Spring Mountain Ride - April 7, 2017 - Going to be staying in Pigeon Forge, TN.Support the show and receive rewards for your contribution by visiting loudpipes.net/donate. In this episode of the Loud Pipes motorcycle podcast the guys talk a little ride planning, bid farewell to Victory Motorcycles, and thoughts on other bikes that could be options other than Harley-Davidson and Indian. The guys start off by breaking the news that Rich and Jon are going to take a little ride down to Daytona for the Rolex 24 hour race at Daytona.Victory Motorcycle closing after 18 years. The guys talk about the history of Victory, engines, and models they have made over the years. We share our thoughts on why Polaris shutdown Victory and what be next. Maybe a new Indian... This is also part 1 as we have a special guest for the next episode to continue the conversation. We do a little searching and find other manufacturers that you should look at if you don't want to follow everyone else with Harley and Indian bikes.U-Turn:If you listen to the live stream one of Rich's 2017 Predictions was Victory would get some much needed love from Polaris. Hello all! Sorry this episode is so late being delivered. I felt like utter shit. I started the recording not feeling that bad due to the help of some medication, but things quickly went south. Then I went out of town for the weekend. I took my podcasting gear with me in hopes of getting the show out still, but I literally went to a barn raising. The manual labor wiped me out since I was already not feeling well, and I was asleep before the local hipsters even got ready to go out for the night. I started recording this episode Thursday, when it was sunny and 80 degrees. Today was Monday and it poured, and it included some thunder and lightning. So, for what it’s worth, my sincerest apologies. Tire swappin’: Playing with tires is a little bit like playing with your lover: You need to get them warmed up before hand. Always use a little lube and a little protection. Do a bit of prying and pulling in all the right places, and Voila!!-mutual satisfaction and smiles all around. Or you can go in like a sado-masochist- cold rubbber intertwined with a bunch of random metal. No protection, no lube. Scratching like a feral cat. Getting beat by and beating on smelly black rubber. Two sweaty hours of screaming and frustration later, you will have achieved the same results, but like BDSM, you both may be sore for a while after. How to remove tire (poor man’s bead breaking. spoons, irons, zip ties) How to mount & balance tire Replacing wheel bearings • Use tire spoon to remove seals • Heat hub if you can to expand it if necessary to get bearings out. • Tap bearing out with a punch, working your way around it so that it doesn’t go sideways in the hub. • Sometimes you may have to move the spacer in the hub if it’s exactly that same size as the bearing. • Put the new bearings in with a seal/bearing driver set (one of the only things that’s ok to buy at Harbor Freight). Heat the hub again if necessary, and you can also use the old bearings, a matching socket, or a matching piece of PVC pipe to drive the bearings home. • Put water resistant grease and install the new seal. Honee’s News! Honee delivers her special brand of industry news and perspective. It sounds like she was recording in a child factory, or a factory run by children… Honee? You got some splainin’ to do! Miscellanious thoughts: I’ve got my own crappy opinion about the EPA’s re-wording of the clean air act (first heard by us on the 2E Podcast). Apparently the EPA is targeting any plated vehicle in their new legislation. It won’t matter if you’re at a racetrack, a tradeshow, or a local swapmeet… according to the guys at Two Enthusiasts, you will be cited if your exhaust is not the factory emissions-compliant unit . I also talk about Victory Motorcycles, and why I think they didn’t make a move to acquire Buell. Parent company Polaris is busy setting their sights on Buell’s former lanista , Harley-Davidson. Thanks to it’s collaboration with Roland Sands, Polaris (indian specifically) has blown the doors open on the Hooligan racing class, and as a result, Indian has successfully entered the AMA twins class for 2016. Along with the success of the Indian brand with the new Scout and Scout Sixty, the Victory Octane and Ignition are generating interest alongside their stable mates, the Project 156 and Victory Empulse electric bike. Movie Review: Glory Stompers – 1967. Dennis Hopper (-R.I.P. One of the greats) This movie stinks!
