 | If we're talking about your private social media, you can do whatever you want! But when you're the face of your business, there's more strategy involved and you have to make decisions based on your audience. In this episode, I'm looking at 3 topics: 1.  When does it make sense to post content in an additional language?2.  7 reasons why we sometimes get in our way with this – and what we can do instead3.  3 reasons why speaking to potential clients in your additional language(s) can help with visibility and credibility. The point of this episode is to be practical. To examine what is working/what could work for us in the future, some of the reasons why there's a gap between what we want to do and what we actually do, and an encouragement to move forward if this is a direction in which you want to go.  It's not something that I find easy, so I also explain my plans and give myself some accountabaility by talking about them on the podcast.  And of course, if you are looking for support with being more visible in English, let me know using the contact form on the show notes page and we can arrange a time to discuss it. I have a number of group and individual programmes in which I accompany people on this visibility journey. The first thing that struck me about Silke was her content. I knew she was fairly new to the freelancing world, but she was getting comments and starting conversations on her posts in a way that felt real and natural. I remember commenting on one of her posts, which led to a few more comments and we also started chatting privately.I hear so many comments about people not knowing what to post, people second-guessing themselves and in the end not sharing things, or outsourcing it all to AI and hoping for the best… I wanted to have this conversation with someone who was creating content that connects people and starts meaningful conversations.I also wanted to find out why Silke chose to focus on women's health and mental health content and to explore what happens when people don't have access to information that's relevant to them in a language that they understand. We talked about: Silke's story with languages and why she decided to focus on translating content on women's health topics How it was for Silke starting out as a freelancer in the language industry and why she set up a peer group for others in the same position How having a mentor helped Silke to gain clarity and make progress – check out Valentina Alia's episode from last week Why it's important to have business-related conversations in our additional languages Where Silke gets her inspiration for LinkedIn content and what's important to her when she writes her posts Silke's advice to others who are new in the language industry. Who is Silke? My name is Silke Kogler. I love learning foreign languages and talking about physical and mental wellbeing. That's why I recently decided to combine my two passions and become a German translator specializing in women's health and mental health. By helping international wellness brands with thoughtful and authentic translations into German, I want to empower women, especially, to educate themselves on how to live a happier and healthier life. Outside of work, I love reading all kinds of books, practicing yoga, and having deep conversations. I'm also currently taking a course on holistic women's health to deepen my knowledge and offer even better services to my clients.Find out more and access the episode links here on the show notes page: https://www.englishwithkirsty.com/podcast/episode314

How do you stay in control of AI while still benefiting from everything it can do? As AI becomes more powerful, many leaders are focused on getting AI to do more work. But perhaps the better question is: How do you make AI more effective without letting it influence your thinking, your brand, or your business direction? In this episode of Grounding AI, Donna Peterson explores why leaders must remain the decision-makers while using AI as a tool to strengthen expertise, deepen customer relationships, and improve business outcomes. You'll learn why AI should enhance your knowledge rather than replace it, how to train AI around your company's goals and values, and the questions every leader should ask before using AI-generated recommendations. If you're responsible for marketing, sales, leadership, customer relationships, or business strategy, this episode offers practical guidance for maintaining control while leveraging AI effectively. In This Episode: Why AI naturally influences decisions and direction The difference between getting AI to do more and getting AI to be more effective How leaders can maintain ownership of their expertise Why your brand voice must remain stronger than AI suggestions The importance of building AI libraries and organizational knowledge Questions to ask before every AI prompt How to keep customer relationships at the center of AI adoption A simple test to determine if AI is helping or leading your business Key Takeaway Before every prompt, ask yourself: What am I trying to accomplish? Why does it matter to my audience? What action do I want people to take? Does this align with our company values and goals? The more direction you provide, the more valuable AI becomes. In this episode of The Changemakers, Dave Corlett sits down with Justin Ballantine, Associate Creative Director of Messaging at Shaped By, to discuss a critical inflection point for high-growth B2B tech businesses, and how it affects their verbal communication. As startups grow into scale-ups, they often dilute (or even lose altogether) one of the things that customers bought into during those early days: their brand voice. Dave and Justin explore how firms navigating this stage can keep that voice strong and relevant, as they transition from a founder-led brand to a more mature market-driven one.In the process, they unpack:Voice versus tone: your voice is who you are, but your tone is how you read the roomThe "brand drift" danger: staying alert to the edges of your business where your brand identity usually starts to frayPrinciples over guidelines: how "27 pages of rules" kill creativity, and why three guiding principles are all you actually need. The human connection: how enterprise audiences are still humans who want to feel something powerful when you speak to them Don't miss this deep dive into the verbal side of branding, from a true master of the craft.Follow Justin on LinkedIn.

If you're a coach, health practitioner, podcaster, or service provider looking to hire a copywriter, you've likely asked yourself one critical question: How can a conversion copywriter capture my authentic voice when they're not me? This is the right question to ask because it means you genuinely care about authenticity. Many heart-centered entrepreneurs worry that hiring a conversion copywriter means outsourcing their voice. You don't want to trade your unique perspective, your actual way of speaking, and your values, for some generic, salesy version of themselves. And you don't have to. When you hire a conversion copywriter, you're investing in someone who becomes fluent in your brand voice. What most people don't realize is that a skilled conversion copywriter doesn't write for you. They write as you. And the best compliment is when even your spouse can't tell if I wrote it or you did!In this episode, we answer the three questions that matter most:How does a conversion copywriter actually get to know your authentic voice? (Spoiler: it's not through 50 pages of questionnaires.)What's the real process for capturing who you are in writing? (And why one hour per month of your time is all I need.)Can a conversion copywriter truly match your tone without losing the conversion power? (Yes. Keep reading to find out how.)This is for those who refuse to settle for watered-down, salesy copy. It's for business owners who know their voice is their unfair advantage, and they're ready to protect it while scaling their message.WHAT YOU'LL DISCOVER IN THIS EPISODEHow conversion copywriters identify and capture your authentic voice…without making you fill out a 50-page questionnaire (Spoiler: I consume your existing content instead of asking you to describe yourself).Find out how the DFY system works on just ONE hour of your time (because part of the ROI is saving you time!) Why outsourcing your copy will does NOT dilute your voice…and what actually determines whether a copywriter nails your brand (it's not what most people think).Discover the 3 ways I capture your authentic voice before writing a single word (including the one most copywriters skip). Why your voice is your unfair advantage in a market flooded with the same tools and templates…and what that means for your authority and conversion power.➡️ SHOW NOTES: Grab all the links and resources mentioned in this episode on the blog here! https://www.megankachigan.com/copywriter-strategies-to-match-your-authentic-voiceLET'S WORK TOGETHER: https://www.megankachigan.com/dfyCONNECT WITH MEGAN:Join My Inbox Community → www.megankachigan.com/email Website → www.megankachigan.comLinkedIn → https://www.linkedin.com/in/megan-kachigan-loehr-9957684b/Threads → https://www.threads.net/@megankachiganInstagram → https://www.instagram.com/megankachigan/Join the Why Isn't This Converting?" Justin Blackman is the Founder of Brand Voice Academy, which helps businesses define, document, and apply a distinct brand voice across their messaging. He is a messaging strategist who helps brands move beyond generic, forgettable copy and create bold, personality-driven communication that resonates with their audience. Drawing from his experience with brands such as Red Bull, 5-hour ENERGY, and IHG Hotels & Resorts, Justin developed a process for analyzing vocabulary, tone, cadence, and writing patterns to make brand voice more consistent and scalable across writers and AI tools. In this episode… In a world where AI can generate polished copy in seconds, sounding "good" is no longer enough. The harder question is how do you make your brand sound unmistakably like you? According to Justin Blackman, a messaging strategist known for helping brands sharpen their voice, the answer starts with documenting the patterns that make your communication distinct. He explains that voice is not just intuition; it can be broken down through vocabulary, tone, cadence, and even mathematical patterns, a process he calls "brand ventriloquism." When brands understand those patterns, they can create messaging that feels consistent, human, and harder to copy in an AI-saturated world. Tune in to this episode of the Smart Business Revolution Podcast as John Corcoran interviews Justin Blackman, Founder of Brand Voice Academy, to discuss building a bold brand voice in the AI age. They explore why generic copy blends in, explain how to measure and mirror brand voice, and illustrate how AI can become a stronger writing partner. Justin also shares advice on finding the edge that makes your work different on purpose.

Should a good copywriter make you rich?If you've ever wondered whether your copywriter is actually good, this episode gives you permission to stop measuring by the wrong metrics.I had such an interesting conversation in a Voxer chat that I knew I had to bring it to the podcast: "Should I evaluate how good a conversion copywriter is by how much revenue they generate?"This got me thinking about everything I've learned and experienced over the last seven years as a DFY conversion copywriter. The truth is, most founders don't know how to evaluate whether a copywriter is actually good. So they reach for the easiest metric: revenue. In this episode, we're breaking down what actually determines whether a conversion copywriter is doing good work, why revenue isn't always the right measure, and how you can know if you're getting real value from your investment in copywriting. Whether you're considering hiring a copywriter or you're already working with one and wondering if it's actually working, this is a practical, honest conversation you need to hear. This is for you if you've wondered:Is my copywriter actually good, or is the problem somewhere else in my funnel?Should I be evaluating a copywriter based on the revenue they generate? If a copywriter is so talented, why aren't they rich themselves? How do I know if the copy did its job? What am I actually supposed to measure when hiring or evaluating a copywriter? Is it possible that great copy exists inside a broken marketing system?Who is responsible for marketing results?➡️ SHOW NOTES: Grab all the links and resources mentioned in this episode on the blog here! https://www.megankachigan.com/hire-conversion-copywriter-metricsFREE RESOURCE: Copy not converting? I'm breaking down how I took a viral AI trend, found the white space in my niche, and turned a playful “edutainment” format into a repeatable content series that built real authority, real community, and real sales. We get tactical about what made the carousel work: the pattern interrupt that stops the scroll, the first-person “brain voice” that creates emotional intimacy and curiosity, and why one sentence per slide beats big paragraphs for a cold audience. I also share the behind-the-scenes process of making AI-generated visuals fit a cohesive brand aesthetic using ChatGPT for brainstorming and prompt refinement, plus the mindset piece most creators miss: speed to posting beats perfection, and discomfort is often the doorway to the next level of visibility. Then we connect virality to conversion. Going viral isn't the finish line, it's the top of your funnel. I walk you through the exact conversion touch points that turn wide-net content into qualified leads: a clear caption, a pinned comment, simple credibility markers, and a DM trigger word that moves the right people into a call and into your offer. In this engaging episode, I sit down with Shanté Cofield, physical therapist and entrepreneur, for an engaging conversation on building a meaningful career in the fitness and coaching space.   Together, we share insights from our journeys as seasoned fitness entrepreneurs—what it takes to grow a personal brand, show up authentically, and create impact through online coaching, especially when supporting pregnant and postpartum athletes.   We dive into Shanté's transition from traditional physical therapy into the online space, and how leaning into curiosity, clarity, and consistency helped shape her business. A big part of this conversation centers around messaging—how to communicate your expertise in a way that actually connects and builds trust.   We also talk about niching down, owning your voice, and the importance of showing up before you feel fully "ready." Sometimes it takes courage to get yourself out there and approach new potential clients. A lot of it can be done alone with nobody watching. You can research the companies, make a shortlist, and plan what you're going to write to them. That's safe enough! But if you want people to trust you enough to make you part of their teams and their workflows, there's a reasonable chance that they'll want  to talk with you and find out who's behind the email or LinkedIn message. Especially now, when people are often outsourcing parts of the lead generation process and initial message writing to AI... Potential clients want to know who you are, what you're offering, and more importantly - how you will add value to them. And unlike your previous experience with agencies, who'll often have someone available who speaks your language, these conversations may need to be in a different one - either because it's the client's first language or because you'll need a bridge language in which you can both communicate. These calls can be prepared to some extent - but there's also the spontanaity factor because it's a conversation between real people. And sometimes trusting yourself enough to go with that is harder than all of the preparation tasks! If you're preparing for these calls in English, it's a topic that comes up in both my one-to-one mentoring programme and my reactivate your spoken English group programme for freelance translators. If it's in French or German, I can put you in touch with others who offer similar services for those languages.Check the show notes page to find out how you can contact me to discuss what you need and how I can help, or to get the link for the LinkedIn event that I mentioned: https://www.englishwithkirsty.com/podcast/episode307

There are three questions every human being is asking: Do you see me? Do you hear me? And do I matter?  When the voice you're putting out into the world doesn't actually sound like you — when it's been sanded down into something professional and polished and unrecognizable — those three questions go unanswered for the very people you are trying to reach. In this episode, I sit down with Patricia Viscount — brand voice strategist, former Canadian Army Public Affairs Officer with NATO tours in Bosnia and Kosovo, and Communication Specialist in the international energy sector — to talk about why so many coaches and consultants perform a version of professionalism that has nothing to do with who they actually are, and what it looks like to finally stop. You are going to love Patricia's story. There were several points in our conversation where my mouth was just open. This woman has been through things most people haven't. She has seen things most people haven't seen. And what she does now — helping entrepreneurs uncover the genuine voice that was already there — makes complete sense when you hear where she's been. This conversation is also going to remind you of how abundant your life is. And how much we all owe to the people who stand up and use their voices every day, inspiring the rest of us to do the same.   WHAT YOU'LL LEARN Why coaches and consultants perform a "professional" version of themselves in writing — and how to stop Why confidence is borrowable — and how to use someone else's belief in you as a bridge to your own Why ready is a decision, not a feeling — and what that means for every move you're afraid to make What a brand voice guide actually looks like and how it removes you as the bottleneck in your own content How Patricia went from 15 years in the Canadian Army to building a business around helping entrepreneurs find their genuine voice   SPECIAL GIFT FROM PATRICIA Take Patricia's free Brand Voice Quiz to discover your brand voice personality: https://www.tryinteract.com/share/quiz/61f1aa1322fd240018d65068 CONNECT WITH PATRICIA Website: https://www.patriciaviscount.com LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/patricia-viscount/ Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/patricia_viscount_comms/   ABOUT PATRICIA  Before starting her business, Patricia had a 15-year career as a Public Affairs Officer in the Canadian Army, with NATO tours in Bosnia and Kosovo. What is the new gold standard for optimizing Amazon listings in 2026 for keywords and Amazon AI like Rufus? Discover how to do in seconds what used to take hours. What does it take to build a high-performing Amazon listing in 2026? In this episode, Bradley Sutton breaks down the new gold standard for listing optimization and explains why sellers can no longer rely on keyword stuffing or traditional SEO alone. Today's best listings need to balance keyword indexing, conversion-focused copy, and AI-ready content that works for tools like Amazon Rufus.   Bradley walks through the full listing optimization process using a real product example, showing how sellers can pull keyword intelligence from multiple sources like Cerebro, historical keyword trends, Amazon's Search Query Performance, and Amazon Brand Analytics. He explains why this layered approach gives Amazon sellers a much more complete view of what actually drives visibility and sales. For Helium 10 users, the biggest breakthrough is that the new Listing Builder can now combine this process into an 8-in-1 keyword research workflow, turning what used to take hours into something that can be done in seconds.   The episode also highlights how Helium 10's Listing Builder goes beyond keyword collection. With new AI features, sellers can analyze product images, customize brand voice, use competitor ASINs for style inspiration, prioritize must-win keywords, and generate listings designed for both Amazon search and AI-assisted shopping. Bradley and Andrew also show how Rufus optimization helps sellers answer shopper questions directly inside the listing, including use cases and objections that may never appear in standard keyword research.   If you sell on Amazon and use Helium 10, this episode is a must-watch. It shows how to create listings that are built for the real online shopping environment of 2026, where success means ranking in search, converting shoppers, and giving Amazon AI the context it needs to help close the sale. It's story time! I'm a language trainer and mentor. I work with others to help them on their language journeys with English. But I'm also a learner with three languages at different stages of fluency. And that's really good because I also have the perspective of a learner. Not all of my clients have the same challenges as me – though many do! My solutions won't work for everyone! But there are things that I can share from my experiences of improving my language skills that will probably resonate with some of my listeners too.In this episode, I'm talking about an experience from my Portuguese class. My Portuguese level isn't at the same level as the English of mmost of my clients, but we're not talking about language level today. We're talking about the choices that we make when we don't feel sure. Sometimes they are choices to protect us and make us feel safe, but they can also dilute our message. My task was to describe three of my services in English and then to talk about the same three services in Portuguese. This is what happened and the feedback I received when we compared them. I'm not talking about aspects of the language, so you don't need to understand Portuguese to listen to this episode.Has anything similar happened to you? Are there occasions when you play it safe with your additional languages? What could the consequences of that be? The first step to fixing something that isn't serving us is recognising the patern or behaviour in the first place! And, as we were talking about my mentoring service, where we look at how you communicate, how you communicate in English, and how you can use your English voice to be more authentic and impactful, you can find all the details here: https://englishwithkirsty.com/discover-your-voice-in-english/Also, you can connect with me on LinkedIn here - https://www.linkedin.com/in/kirsty-danielle-wolf-a8478235/

The world is chaotic and people are tired. And when people are tired, they stop rewarding “safe.” They reward clear. In this Black History Month Series episode, I'm joined by Kristina Hall and we're talking about the problem too many Black business owners won't admit out loud: your business isn't stuck because you aren't working hard. It's stuck because your message is weak. If you're posting consistently, seeing other creators pop off, and sitting there thinking “do I need to be more controversial?” you're not crazy. But let's separate truth from coping: the algorithm doesn't “hate” you. The message just isn't landing. And in 2026, with AI making everybody sound the same, blending in is a death sentence. We get into the line between being bold and being messy. Bold is standing on what you believe and being able to back it up. Messy is rage-baiting for attention, copying hot takes, and building a brand that collapses the second a real client walks through the door.Kristina drops a clean framework we build in real time: Stand. Say. Sell. Stand on your business. Say it in plain English. Then sell your service like you're not ashamed to get paid. We also break down a real client example (Pilates School SF) where one bold, clear message brought in the right audience, globally. And we close with a Black History Month question that gets real fast: what Black history means when you're biracial, light-skinned, and still connected to the roots, the pride, and the pain.Watch the full episode on YouTube: https://youtu.be/8_Z3bf7EVEYAs always we ask you to comment, DM, whatever it takes to have a conversation to help you take the next step in your journey, reach out on any platform!Twitter, FaceBook, Instagram, Tiktok, LinkedinDISCLOSURE: Awards and rankings by third parties are not indicative of future performance or client investment success. Together they break down what copywriting actually is, how website copy differs from “regular” writing, and why your site shouldn't read like an HR handbook. They walk through DayCloud's full website copy process—from discovery and brand voice, to wireframes, UX-minded content strategy, and collaboration between design and copy—and talk honestly about common mistakes businesses make when they DIY their words. You'll hear how empathy and embodiment drive good copy, how to think about SEO without turning your site into keyword soup, and why “integrity, honesty, professionalism” is not a brand personality. If you've ever wondered how agencies actually write websites (or what a ghostwriter does for a brand), this one's for you.
