The Dressage Radio Show podcast is an educational, fun, and friendly show that caters to both beginners and experienced riders in the dressage community. The hosts, Reese and Phillip, do a fantastic job of breaking down movements and other issues in a way that is easy to understand and apply to your own riding. This is something that may often be missed in a traditional lesson due to the constant movement and changes in the horse's balance, tempo, direction, or gait.
One of the best aspects of this podcast is its ability to relate to people at all levels of dressage. Whether you're new to the sport or a top professional, there is always something pertinent and valuable for you to take away from each episode. The hosts bring on industry experts who share their insights and advice, making it an amazing opportunity to learn from some of the best professionals in the field. The listener Q&A segment is also highly appreciated as it addresses specific questions and concerns that riders may have.
Another great aspect of this podcast is its entertainment value. The hosts have a friendly rapport with each other and their guests, creating an enjoyable atmosphere throughout each episode. They also manage to inject humor into their conversations, making it not only informative but also entertaining to listen to. This makes it a perfect companion for long drives or any activity where you can listen while doing other tasks.
There are no notable worst aspects of this podcast. However, it's possible that some listeners may prefer more focus on certain topics or may not find every episode applicable to their specific riding needs. This can be subjective depending on individual preferences and goals within the dressage discipline.
In conclusion, The Dressage Radio Show podcast is a must-listen for anyone interested in dressage or looking for valuable insights from top professionals in the field. It provides an educational yet enjoyable experience with its fun and friendly approach. Whether you're a beginner looking for guidance or an experienced rider seeking to expand your knowledge, this podcast offers something for everyone. Aviva and Stephany catch up on what's going on – Stephany's travels, her new baby cows, Aviva has a potential buyer for Ralphie! Aviva has an amazing question from Alex about conformation, effort and how that is recognized in a test. She gives us a lot to think about with her answer – are you riding a 6 mover? Are you a 6 rider? What is a good expectation for an average horse, and where are there places that you can shine no matter what?Mark talks about his background and how he came into the natural horsemanship world. He discusses different ways to think about helping your horse into a better mental state, what he really means when he says pressure, and how even our dressage horses could feel better if we changed our approach a little. It is a fascinating interview with lots of places where we tie his work into dressage examples, so take a listen! Welcome to the Dressage Today podcast sponsored by Sentinel. Aviva and Stephanie talk about how lucky they are to have had the opportunity to talk to so many of the riders on the dressage Olympic short list, and then Aviva answers the question about how the counter canter in First Level Test 3 should be ridden and how it is scored.Together they interview up-and-coming international rider Endel Ots. A native of Wisconsin, Ots grew up on a farm and began riding at age 8. While he started in jumping, he soon made his way to dressage. After that he worked with Lars Peterson and found his new home in Wellington, Florida where he is based today. He was an alternate for the 2011 Pan American Games team and selected for the 2019 Pan American Games team with the horse Lucky Strike but had to withdraw when his horse unfortunately suffered superficial cuts in a trailer injury. After Lucky Strike recovered, the pair went on to win the Intermediaire I Championship at the Dressage Festival of Champions at Lamplight. Then in December 2023, he got the ride of a lifetime with Heidi Humphries' Zen Elite's Bohemian.
