Nearly 20 years after his first Palme d'Or, Romanian auteur Cristian Mungiu once again takes the festival's top prize for “Fjord” – a film exploring the tensions between religious conservatism and social liberalism. It stars “Marvel” actor Sebastian Stan and Norwegian actress Renate Reinsve as parents accused of domestic abuse. Before the big win, Eve Jackson sat down with Mungiu and Reinsve in Cannes.

El 79º Festival de Cine de Cannes bajó el telón con la entrega de sus máximos galardones. Anna welcomes five guests who talk about films and feminism amid the glamour that is Cannes. First up, Anna discusses the gender balance in some of the festival's stand out films with film critic Sucharita Tyagi. Next Anna is joined by writer-director Katharina Rivilis in Cannes with her first feature, I'll Be Gone In June, a semi-autobiographical film in which a young woman's exchange year in New Mexico is set against the backdrop of 9/11. Film critic and journalist Tomris Laffly joins Anna to talk about her festival highlights including Palme D'Or Winner, Fjord, Marie Kreutzer's Gentle Monster and comedy drama A Woman's Life. Finally Anna welcomes Shrimoyee Chakraborti and Parno Mittra to talk about female friendship, their passion for film and their documentary feature, Spirit Of The Wildflower, directed by Shrimoyee and exec produced by Parno. Set in rural India this film follows the lives of two siblings who unite to form a business marketing the traditional tribal drink, mahua. The film explores themes including family, community, feminism and transgender identity. El Radar Empresarial de hoy pone el foco en el enorme impacto económico que mueve el Festival de Cannes, considerado uno de los certámenes cinematográficos más importantes del planeta. La edición de 2026 ha tenido una destacada presencia española gracias al triunfo de los Javis, que lograron el premio a mejor dirección por La Bola Negra. Sin embargo, la máxima distinción del festival, la Palma de Oro, terminó en manos de la producción rumana Fjord. Más allá de los galardones, el lujo y las celebridades que cada año ocupan la alfombra roja, Cannes se ha convertido en una auténtica maquinaria económica para la ciudad francesa que lo acoge. Durante los once días que dura el evento, la localidad recibe alrededor de 200.000 visitantes. Entre ellos se encuentran más de 4.000 periodistas acreditados y unos 40.000 profesionales vinculados a la industria audiovisual. Toda esta afluencia de personas tiene un efecto directo sobre hoteles, restaurantes, comercios y servicios.
