As a curious child, Sarah Baumert, experimented with the yoga postures she found in a book. She found joy in how the postures stimulated intense energy or offered calm. She was far more comfortable with expressing with her body than her words and became a professional dancer. When she became a yoga teacher she learned to put her profound experience into words so she could guide students to find that for themselves.  She later realized how her dance training had an oppressive quality that was instilled in her.  This deeply affected her movement and how she related to herself. It wasn't until her Feldenkrais training, Sarah learned how to move to the music of her internal senses as a way to work through chronic dance injuries and to find freedom in her body. How two minds meet: The mental dynamic of dressage“ . This is part 2 of my chat with Brad Baumert. If you haven't listened to Episode 71, please go back and give it a listen. To recap it all, this is the amazing story of how a passion in sport can drive you into business. With a bit of tongue in cheek, it is also somewhat a cautionary tale of not knowing when to quit. In all seriousness though, Brad Baumert has been a driving force (literally & figuratively) behind trials in the USA for a number of years. We hear about the origins of RYP (Ryan Young Products) which from humble beginnings became a quite serious business.   However success is measured in more than money, and the way previous guests have spoken about Brad tells you all you need to know about the calibre of the man and the impression he has left on so many.   Brad and Ryan through RYP made Sherco the envy of other manufacturers with the professionalism and market penetration in the US, illustrated by the fact that at a point in time, every rider in the USA pro class was on a Sherco!   Brad was instrumental in establishing training camps for youth riders that continue on to this day; he was a mechanic at the pits supporting his riders for years and years and bus driver shuttling his team across the country. Between all this, RYP wasn't the only company he had to run and he still had a family.   He was also proud of his riders achievements and reflects on the sporting success of team RYP; and the circular loop that appears to have begun with his former participants now leading the teen training camp.   It wasn't always smooth sailing...there were false starts in 05 with Sherco's enduro bikes, the closing of the Scorpa factory in 07 shortly after becoming the importers, there were sporting challenges, and the Global Financial Crisis which caused them to consider just winding up the business altogether.   Brad is so humble and was keen to make sure he reflected on all the others that helped him along the way. Now that he has left his involvement with RYP, Brad continues to give back with his work on the board of the AMA.   Even if Brad efforts were US focused, the sport of trials globally is better for his efforts by showing us what is possible.   I hope you enjoy par 2 of this chat with Brad Baumert.   Contact the Podcast: Email: podcast@trials.com.au Facebook Group: Trials Australia Podcast Community

Claudia is a registered and licensed dietitian nutritionist with a functional and integrative approach, and she has so much information to share about the impact of food sensitivities and nutrient deficiencies on fertility and pregnancy. Claudia has experienced two miscarriages herself, and was able to carry a healthy pregnancy to term once she corrected her own nutrient deficiencies. Considering the food we eat is an important and often overlooked part of addressing fertility issues. Food sensitivities can be linked to inflammation and hormone imbalance and nutrient deficiencies should be replenished to optimize the health of a pregnancy. On this week’s show we talk to two riders who are making their games debut for the US Dressage team, Jennifer Baumert from Ohio and Sarah Lockman from California. Jennifer and Betsy Juliano LLC’s 14 year old Hanoverian gelding Handsome join the squad for the 2019 Pan American Games to be held from July 28-3 at the Equestrian Club Militar La Molina in Lima, Peru.  Although this will be Jennifer’s Games debut she and Handsome were on the winning Nations Cup team in Wellington, Florida in March this year and she is excited at the opportunity given their consistency since the partnership began three years. They have had sixteen wins so far with six of those this year at Intermediate I, enough to convince the selectors that they are deserving of a place on the team alongside Nora Batchelder on Faro SQF, Sarah Lockman with First Apple and Endel Ots with Lucky Strike.  I spoke to Jennifer at her summer training base in Ohio and she told us that her family were counting on her making the team so they could have a holiday in Peru. Sarah Lockman and Gerry Ibanez’s nine year old Dutch stallion First Apple first met in October of last year and in their short time as partners have won all of their FEI competitions with consistent scores in the mid 70’s. But even though this is a relatively new partnership to be making their games debut Sarah knew from the time she first sat on Apple that they were meant for each other and she will be heading to team camp shortly full of confidence of what they can bring to the squad.
