A therapist and a hairdresser walk into a bar; just kidding we don’t really drink. This podcast started as just conversations between me, a hairdresser, and my therapist during the beginning of my mental health journey where we explored a list of misdiagnosis I’ve carried since childhood. Between my own healing journey that comes down to CPTSD, how I coped to get this far in life, how alternative therapies and medicines helped most, and how all of this integrated into my life and my business. We also go over client stories, crazy folks we meet, how to build a great team or staff using science, and personal drama/tea within the world of therapy, my hair salon, and the entire beauty industry in the USA; where I share my insights and experiences as a national educator Hopefully the other world topics we cover don’t get us cancelled as we also dissect our weird thoughts and feelings on the government, mental health, beauty and whatever else is trending on social media.
Summer's heating up and so is this episode—stay to the end for an announcement that'll change your weekly routine
What happens when you start unpacking the beliefs your family handed you — along with the vodka? In this raw episode, I talk about my complicated relationship with drinking, my abandonment as a baby, and the emotional blueprint passed down through my Jewish and Irish roots. I explore the wild question: if I had different parents, would I just be fucked up in a different way? This is about generational trauma, breaking cycles, and reminding ourselves — just because it runs in the family doesn't mean it needs to keep running you. I was abandoned as a baby. My dad's family didn't seem too bothered. Add in a mix of Irish chaos and Jewish guilt, and you've got a cocktail of generational dysfunction. In this episode, I get into my relationship with drinking, my family's history, and the deep-seated limiting beliefs I inherited — ones I've spent years trying to unlearn. I've wondered what I'd be like if I were raised by alternate parents in some other universe. Would I still be fucked up? Probably. But maybe in a cuter outfit. I truly believe I'm on the best timeline now… but it doesn't erase how formative our early years are. So let's talk about it. And maybe — just maybe — stop beating the shit out of our kids, emotionally or otherwise.
This episode is a wild ride through the reality of running a modern hair salon—with plenty of laughs, lessons, and unexpected turns. Laura and the crew unpack a recent three-star review from a client whose hair was too damaged for color, explore the disconnect between client expectations and professional boundaries, and call out the toxic entitlement that salon owners deal with daily (spoiler: it's usually boomers, but not always). From Yelp drama to pets being buried mafia-style in concrete, and even naming shelter animals after Transformers, this episode blends industry tea with raw, real-life stories. It's part hair talk, part animal rescue chaos, and totally unfiltered.
Ever felt like you're outgrowing people but still trying to keep the peace? This episode unpacks the silent power of boundaries, how to handle subtle (and not-so-subtle) bullies, and what happens when you stop shrinking yourself to fit into rooms you've outgrown. We're talking real-life stories, emotional resilience, and the kind of growth that feels both scary and freeing. Sometimes people just won't let go, and we dissect why people are addicted to drama and the stories they make up in their heads. You'll laugh, you'll get chills, and you might just block someone after listening. ✨ It's not about being mean—it's about being done. Follow the podcast and connect with us on Instagram:
In this episode, we unpack the very important debate: pink jobs vs blue jobs — and who's actually winning the podcast war, men or women? We get into the Alabama Barker vs Bhad Bhabie beef (yes, we have opinions), and ask the tough questions like: why do kids in private school uniforms keep trying to convert me or poison me with home-baked cookies at the salon? Also: Chris could never get angry, but Kelly? I can absolutely see her throwing hands in a parking lot. We talk about the “no soliciting” sign that no one reads, what it's like to grow up in a trap house, and why I fully wait for my team to leave the salon parking lot before I do (no, I'm not paranoid, it's safety. Ok maybe a little paranoid). Plus: shake plates, anxiety hacks, tattooed heretics, and the fever dream that ended with me firing a client. THConversation is where humor, heart, and healing collide — and this episode is a ride. Hit play, because there's so much more where that came from.
This week, I'm sharing all the wild, unexpected moments that made the last few weeks a rollercoaster—tech glitches, travel chaos, mystery packages, and the gut-punch of my best friend breaking up with me. Yeah, it's been *a lot*. I take you from the peaceful beaches of Costa Rica (monkey sightings included) to LA's most dog-friendly creative space, where I helped shape the future of hair education. Plus, a little peek into the kind of things you can casually grab at a Latin American pharmacy… you're not ready. We also get into family history—how Sean and I are just third-gen Americans, why my ancestors took one look at NYC and said “no thanks,” and what that all means now. And of course, I spill a little salon tea because… drama waits for no one. If you love a mix of storytelling, travel, reflection, and real life unfiltered, this episode's for you. Let's get into it.

We're also talking fever dream moments, unexpected celebrity run-ins, and the absolute *struggle* of picking the perfect movie night flick. It's real, it's ridiculous, and it's basically like catching up with your funniest friend over coffee (or whatever overpriced drink your barista is pushing this week). Hey there, friends! In this episode, we kick things off with some wild stories about snowstorms and the thrill (or terror) of driving through them. Ever tried doing donuts in a snowbank? It's a lot of fun, unless you hate snow, in which case, it's a bit of a nightmare, right? We also chat about an eye-opening experience in Vegas where a sphere took us on an unexpected ride through space and religious propaganda. Spoilers here, but there were some wild twists and turns, literally and metaphorically. Oh, and we do our social media news round up, talk about my week in Las Vegas with the beauty brand I work for; behind the scenes and what I learned. Our chat takes us from the crazy traffic of Los Angeles to some heated discussions about California's ongoing wildfires. Trust me, it's a rollercoaster of emotions as we share some eye-opening conspiracy theories and heartbreaking stories about the impact of the fires on animals. But wait, it's not all gloom and doom. We switch gears to lighter topics, reminiscing about New Jersey's food scene (hello, best bagels ever!) and having a good laugh about the challenges of living in different U.S. regions. We explore our love-hate relationships with famous actors, all while making you feel like you're right there with us sipping coffee (or a cold brew!) and chatting away. Welcome to our latest episode, where we're mixing it up with a little curiosity, a little cinema, and a whole lot of style. First up, we're breaking down the unexpected world of grape innovation—yes, cotton candy grapes are real, and their story is wilder than you think; and they are not genetically made! Then, we take a deep dive into Interstellar, one of my all time fave movies, unpacking fresh theories on Matthew McConaughey's journey through space and time—while also having a little fun with Anne Hathaway's more… distinctive on-screen moments. There are spoiler alerts but i beg you, watch it! If you like space and time travel. And finally, we're pulling back the curtain on a bold salon transformation that blends Gothic edge with Western grit. I rebranded, redecorated, and renamed my salon! The energy is next level, and if you're into spaces that make a statement, you'll want to hear this. Starting 2025 with good friends, a great mashup, and fun insights into our brains and of course the therapists opinions!
Hey there! Dive into this rollercoaster of an episode where we tackle everything from the unexpected hilarity of misdelivered packages to reminiscing about those mysterious middle school boyfriends who supposedly went to 'another school.' It's all about the little things, right?
We got new equipment and it's amazing, but we fucked up and by we I mean the boys. They love to hit buttons; and turns out the new fun sound effect buttons also end the recording. We filmed potentially the best episode ever and only 54 seconds was captured; on audio. BUT on video I got it all. From Peanut the squirrel, to gross government over reaches, to the tik tok ban, dead CEOs and finally pantones color of the year and what it means. We also spill the tea on some hairstylist drama - trust me, it's juicier than a TikTok scandal. You get to listen to the whole 54 seconds here of course, but if you want the Friday night giggle vibe, head to the link. Link to the secret show here in the notes, we did our best to recover and add new thoughts even here, but I 10/10 recommend this video episode for the LAUGHS None of this is advice ever, we are not professionals, we just like to start a good dialog amongst friends. SECRET EPISODE
Hey there! Join us for a wild ride as we juggle cooking chaos with some laugh-out-loud moments. We try to plan dinner to be ready by the time the episode is over. We're also diving into a fascinating (and slightly maddening) statistic from TikTok about self-awareness. Do you think most people are really self aware or just NPC's on auto pilot drifting through earth. Oh, and we're not stopping there. We're taking a trip down memory lane, grooving to some '90s classics, and having a good old rant about taxes, the IRS, and my view on taxation; it is theft! As well as sneak in what Chris and Kelly think about the person who said I domestically abuse my husband! I know, I cannot make this up. Things take a wild turn as we delve into bizarre coma tales reminiscent of the Matrix and discuss the enigmatic world of classic rock. From Freddie Mercury to brain-bending out-of-body experiences, this episode has it all. So grab your headphones, relax, and join us for some friendly banter. We promise you'll come away smiling and maybe even questioning reality a little. Don't miss out!
Hey there! Buckle up for a hilarious and candid episode where we dive into a whirlwind of stories, from speeding tickets and seatbelt debates to run-ins with the law and crazy car tales. We've all been there, right? Dealing with those nerve-wracking moments and somehow coming out the other side with a laugh or two. Join us as we share our thoughts on generational differences, a wild ride with Slipknot blasting in the car, and the inevitable what-if scenarios we all ponder. Plus, get ready to chuckle at some good old-fashioned relationship banter and the quirks that make us, well, us. It's all about finding humor in the everyday chaos and connecting over the shared craziness of life. So grab a cup of coffee, sit back, and let's chat like old friends catching up on the latest adventures!
Hey everyone! It's been a while since we've podcasted—I've got so many episodes I still need to upload! I've been busy living life, and sometimes we all need a break. This podcast has become part of my therapy now so it does more for me than for you I bet. This year, we've seen so many different versions of me, and my hair often reflects those phases. Sean jokes that I was nicer with certain hair when we were dating, but when we first met, I was also battling sobriety. We dive deep into topics like my avoidant attachment style, childhood neglect, and even the 90s eating disorder culture. But it's all about processing, not blaming. We also chat about trauma, AA meetings, codependency, and, yes, even crying—though Fox and the Hound is the only thing that can make me cry (although Sean thinks Guardians of the Galaxy will also do it). Oh, and there's a story about Sean setting our tent on fire while on vacation. What would you have done? You'll have to listen to know! Lastly, RIP to Ghost the Guinea Pig—this episode is in his honor.
In this episode, we're hanging out in the salon lounge while Britton's hair color processes. It's a fun, laid-back chat with some special guests: Lili, Maggie, and Jorja. We spill the tea on the salon's big launch party, the recent renovations, and—surprise!—an upcoming salon name change. Britton and I have grown so close over the years. I love having her in my chair and working on projects with her because she's the ultimate girls' girl. And honestly, us girls—sorry, but we rule! We also dive into how much we enjoy collaborating with the amazing Ben Egelson. We chat about why I'm always updating and changing things around the salon. I mean, let's be real—if salons stop evolving, people stop coming. I even brought in secret shoppers to keep things fresh and get some feedback that we share in this episode. Britton, as one of my OG clients, shares her honest feedback on the podcast, especially on that awkward moment when clients stare during the shampoo! You won't believe how many people do that instead of just closing their eyes. We get the team involved, too, sharing their own wild shampoo station stories. Trust me, you don't want to miss this one! What a few weeks it's been! This episode we dive into the pre holiday shit show that is the salon with our favorite salon manager, Maggie! We start off with the crazy ass week we had, including 2 bad reviews not are so wildly invalid we had to share. One of them my attorney is even involved, because you can have an opinion but you're not allowed to make shit up! In all my years in hair the one thing that remains consistent, is the holidays bring out the worst in people receiving services. And the best too! We have some of the absolute best clients, but this time of year the worst ones always find us, rotate back to us, or just suddenly become crazed. (or they ran out of salons to get kicked out of) IDK what it is about Sept - Dec that makes folks so inhospitable, trust me we always investigate and try to grow and learn from each interaction - but there is always at least one person we have to ask to not come back. This week is the precursor every year to the holidays. Two bad reviews from folks we haven't seen in 6 months or over a year. Then to add on top a cancelled concert, me backing out of an event, and people trying to start fights with me via text. Join us, as me and Maggie dissect whats happening and brace for whats coming! Dont forget to follow us on instagram! Laura @hairzillaa Maggie @_maggiefelker_
The theme this episode is how grumpy people are, especially on the internet; but real life too. And how the best I can do is monetize it, cause Sean is gonna be nice to you if he sees you out. And he always seems to see the biggest haters out and about. Todays hater he saw at the Hair Supply Store. We also have out first sponsors! Links and codes below Today's trauma is also brought to you by boomer dads on vacation; and boomer moms reading your diary. Navigating childhood trauma is f**king yucky, but I discovered a new limiting belief all because when I was a teen my mom read my diary; and then punished me for what was in it. Spoiler alert, turns out it was normal teen stuff that I was lead to believe was actual psycho stuff haha So remember, partners, if you see your partners haters out in the world, ignore. A little more about me, I was always the unwanted kid, but I was also always the aware kid. Words didn't often match the actions of adults around me, so here we are; with trust issues. Although, I am never wrong about a person. We dive a little politically deep here too, because I actually enjoy a healthy discourse. But most people can't even name the 3 branches of government, thus rarely know what they are talking about outside of headlines. It's frustrating, but not as frustrating as that presidential debate. Oof And as usual we take a mental health turn into my PTSD, reframing things to be more positive and tricking your brain into abundance aligned thinking rather than victim aligned. Which brings us to peoples perspectives, espesh of other people, and heavily tattooed people like myself. From strangers to in laws it gets interesting here.
Ok it was only 3 weeks but it felt like forever. So here we are catching up I did a ton of travel, and I stand by Midwest folks are the nicest folks, none of this 'southern hospitality' stuff. Which also leads to, what is Ohio? does the midwest claim them, does the north east? Where do they go? Sean tried so hard to like Dune, so Chris would like him. He couldn't hack it though. And speaking of movies, I am DYING to see the new Inside Out movie, surprise its for adults. More so, adults in therapy haha And finally, my favorite mental health discussion, personalities. I recently took an amazing course where we dove into business but first we dove into ourselves! I even shared a worksheet about my personality with my staff so they could get a better understanding of me, their ENTJ leader who has spent most of her life in Fight or Flight. A great well rounded episode as far as I am concerned.
In this episode not only do we talk about salons and suites that try and poach employees, we play a video of one. No edits! Now listen, it's gonna happen; but I am also gonna expose you when it gets a bit crazy. Cause lets be real, its good content lol If you're bold enough to put yourself out there, make videos, and steal you gotta be ready to receive bold back, so no hate or shade just playing you all the facts! Among other topics we also dive deep into Seans first anxiety attack, in his thirties! It was crazy but also refreshing as someone who has struggled with anxiety her whole life, attacks, and more for him to experience it and finally KNOW what its like how you basically feel like you're dying. And for our side quest discussion, did you know serial killers are on the decline in the USA!? IDK if its all the true crime girlies out here finding the clues, or maybe they're just getting better? This episode is one of my faves because it's such a mixed bag of nuts that we link all together for a great, fun episode.
First up, the latest drama with Diddy, who's being raided, and how 50 Cent is absolutely loving it because he hates Diddy. We'll get into the whole Diddy/50 Cent beef because, while I might suck at general pop culture, I'm a pro at rap beefs. Call it a skill. Without my good friend Blake, I wouldn't have a clue about the latest in Popular Culture, but I can give you the lowdown on rap feuds from Tupac and Biggie to Eminem and MGK. I also don't buy into cancel culture—it's so random who gets canceled and who doesn't—but we'll chat about Justin Timberlake's recent antics and why he been canceled. We'll wrap it up with the Kansas City Chiefs' kicker going full Handmaid's Tale on female college graduates, proving he's completely out of touch, even though Travis Kelsey, his teammate, is dating the ultimate girl power icon. As a libertarian, people think I'm an anarchist honestly; I believe in freedom of speech, but remember, freedom of speech comes with consequences; and those aren't free. Plus, I'll share what I've learned about fillers, even though I have lip filler—turns out there are some new studies about that. We'll also briefly touch on the Kevin Spacey documentary, we choose Britney, Snoop Dogg and the evolution of celebs, celebrate the elite status of 90's music, and reminisce about the albums we snuck listens to in the 90's/early 2000's that we definitely shouldn't have. This is a fun one, find more content on all other platforms; I am HARIZILLAA on every channels - except my burner account; that you will never know (diabolical laugh)
TW: suicide/mental health issues Let's recap May; mental health awareness month. I never like to fall into these types of trends because May is also women's health care month, better sleep month, national walking month and so on. Every month can be Mental Health Awareness Month if you really want it to be. For me, it always is. In this episode, I take you on a journey through one of my delightful burnouts. Thanks to plenty of therapy, I've learned it's just my brain lying to me in the name of what it thinks is "safety." While navigating my own issues, some blasts from the past decided to make an appearance—cue the previous toxic employees. Yes, I said it: TOXIC! Haha. Picture this: I'm minding my own business on social media, happily engaging with public hair pages, when suddenly, someone I fired years ago, yes, YEARS ago, pops up to tell everyone how terrible I am. After validating his feelings (insert sarcastic "awww"), "Veronica" from my past stories swoops in, claiming I prevented her from being fully booked. She never says exactly how, but generously offers that I can reach out—even though I'm blocked on all platforms. (Insert smiling eye roll here.) I only know about this drama through other people's screenshots, which is just wonderful for my mental health. But hey, it is what it is, and the online booking system never lies—she's still not fully booked. I have no idea what their obsession is or what stories they tell themselves, but I lay it all out, rename some characters, and share what's happening inside my head during all this chaos. Oh, and we also chat about how Chris hates LinkedIn, the new Walmart has special edition Legos, and how getting a dog might be the best way to focus if you're struggling. They take up a lot of time in the best way possible. So to whoever listens and clearly reports back, or to anyone listening hoping I don't talk shit about you, these are anecdotes, not shit talking. Shit talking implies gossip, and gossip is usually 'untrue' but I appreciate the plays and downloads. Thus the holy Trinity of may is Mental Health, Story time, and Content Farming. As always, we covered a bunch of juicy topics, but the highlight of today's chat was my encounter with my very first hair salon Karen as a new salon owner! And guess what? It wasn't a random client—it was an employee's mom! This all kicked off when the employee decided to leave the salon. The whole ordeal was WILD and, honestly, pretty weird. So, the ex-employee is now a waitress. No shade to waitressing, but it stings when you invest in teaching someone how to build a career and make a good living, only for it to turn out my coaching is 'toxic' and for them not to be passionate about the industry anyway. Emotions were definitely high. Plus, we spilled some tea about the person who stole from my salon and had the nerve to act like I was the villain for wanting my stuff back. But that's not all! We also dished about our favorite billionaires, celebrated some of our beloved Jewish friends, and I gushed over my obsession with Threads. Join me on threads HERE Find me on insta HERE Don't forget were on YOU TUBE and Insta for video content!
It's 420 twice a day every day, but here we celebrated with what we call salad, mixing the last bits of our stash to make one unique salad to smoke and then reminisce. From old-school cartoons to a wild encounter with THCP, this episode is like a trip down memory lane on a sugar high, sprinkled with laughs. We reminisce about PBS, Nickelodeon, and Sesame Street, then dive into the crazy story of a THC-infused weekend gone wrong. Get ready for 48 hours of unexpected highs, including frantic trips to the bathroom, robot-like walks, and trippy dreams. Warning: you might think twice before trying anything labeled THCP after this wild ride! I couldn't feel my limbs so I am here to warn you! But the fun doesn't stop there. We also chat about the good old days of being unsupervised kids, teenage adventures with acid (not our adventures), and the everyday chaos of mom life. We even debate life choices made under the influence, sharing personal stories and lots of laughs. Then we switch gears to talk movies, from classics like 'Pride and Prejudice' to epic tales like 'Troy'. We all agree that movies have a way of tugging at our heartstrings and shaping our views, leading to some lively debates. And we don't shy away from discussing sensitive topics, diving into our concerns about the content we consume. These detours into introspection make this episode a must-listen. So buckle up for a rollercoaster of laughter, nostalgia, and deep thoughts. With funny stories, movie chats, and reflections on life's quirks, this episode is a wild journey you won't want to miss! Find us on all platforms!!
We're spilling the tea on what it's like to be head over heels in love and how to make it last. Plus, we're tackling the hairy subject of ethics in the hairdressing biz and what it really means when we call something 'toxic'. The final episode shortly dissecting whats left of this conversation, I promise. But wait, there's more! Ever wondered about the struggles of running a business in the social media age? And don't even get us started on energy dynamics and terms like 'little dick energy'—yep, we're going there. Oh, and get ready to feel all the feels as we talk about how our childhoods shape who we are today. From rebellious teenage years to accepting ourselves, it's a rollercoaster of emotions; and some trauma dumping and how we now cope in a healthy way. And just when you thought it couldn't get any wilder, we're diving into conspiracy theories and societal norms. Mandela Effect, anyone? Workplace culture is deeply examined in this episode, particularly the misunderstood concept of 'toxicity'. Understand the impact of terminologies, setting boundaries, and fostering effective communication for a healthier work environment. And how the word TOXIC, is over used, diluted, and a cop out. Toxic people exist, yes. But stop using the word toxic as the excuse, maybe you were toxic to the space you were in... and you were projecting.
Get ready for some juicy debates about the Kardashians – you know, love 'em or hate 'em, they're everywhere. Plus, we've got this awesome story about a beauty student who's using social media to kickstart her business. It's all about how our online lives affect our real-world selves. Then, we're delving into the messy world of online relationships versus offline ones. Trust us, it gets deep. We'll even share some personal stories about childhood bullying and how it shapes us today; and how people like to be passive aggressive with posts - but I want you to be aggressive. Tag me. Oh, is that too direct? I never understand when people have some thing they wanna say, or something they believe in, but they won't stand by it. I'm built different. If I'm gonna be petty, it's gonna be direct. These same people making videos or talking shit about me have my number, use it babe, or tag me. It's just giving 'womb womb' energy. It's not all serious stuff! We're also keeping things light with a few laughs about the ridiculousness of social media pressures and the funny side of online drama. And let's not forget about the big questions – like, how real is our online persona, really? We're tackling the authenticity debate and even chatting about blocking people online when things get heated. By the end of it all, we're promising to lay off the Kardashian talk for a bit and look towards a more authentic, considerate digital future. So, if you're up for some thought-provoking conversation mixed with a few laughs, tune in and join the ride!
So this episode is about Life Purpose, and how an industry podcast said employers MUST provide Gen Z with a purpose or they won't work for you... and I will not be providing purpose. Here's what AI thinks this episode is about: So, picture this: we're diving deep into the behind-the-scenes of running a hair salon. We're not just talking about the basics here, but getting into all the juicy details, sharing insider stories and some real eye-opening industry insights. But hey, it's not all serious business. We're also gonna take a moment to poke some fun at society's expectation that every workplace should be the center of our universe, especially when it comes to keeping Gen Z employees happy. Spoiler alert: it's not all about work! And yeah, we'll sprinkle in some wisdom from cool folks like Simon Sinek, mixing it up with beach vibes, artsy stuff, and maybe even a dab of politics. But don't worry, we're keeping it chill and open-minded, because healthy debate is where it's at. Wrapping it up, we'll talk about how society's pressure can sometimes make us lose sight of what really matters, swapping real purpose for something fake. It's a chat that'll make you think, challenge your views, and hopefully leave you feeling inspired to find your own path to fulfillment – whether it's in your job or just life in general. LETS GET SERIOUS. An employee and mentee that I thought was close, was actually trying to stage a walk out. In this episode, join me and my good friend and fellow educator Kerry, as we dive into the cutthroat world of salon culture. From sharing personal challenges to discussing the importance of open communication, and the dumb shit we've been through, we cover it all. Listen in as we explore the impact of competition and isolation in the industry, and why self-care and rest are crucial for creative minds like ours. I get real about my own experience with an employee's sudden departure and the lessons learned about communication and respecting individual growth paths while also respecting myself. We also take a deep dive into the dynamics of the Charleston hair scene, emphasizing the need for authenticity, direct communication, and a career-focused mindset for salon owners and workers alike. In an industry known for its cutthroat competition, we dissect the balance between professionalism and personal growth, advocating for honest feedback over fake flattery and celebrating transparency in professional relationships. We also discuss industry trends, upcoming plans for a salon rebrand, and the importance of staying true to oneself in business. And we challenge the myth of salon owners pocketing their staff's commissions, shedding light on the true financial challenges faced by independent stylists and commissioned salons. In the end, this conversation offers a blend of professional anecdotes, philosophical reflections, and strategic insights that promise to immerse listeners in the fascinating world of salon culture. Get ready to plunge into the multi-dimensional world of 'coolness,' psychedelics, and a shocking incident that terrorized a town. Welcome to an episode brimming with laughter, profound wisdom, and unexpected perspectives. This is the episode before I head to Tulum on a healing retreat, where I also documented my journey; but this one is to see if I change at all. Physically, tonally, or on the outside that is noticeable to anyone. I have been on a mental health journey since 2020 doing IFS, EMDR, Psilocybin trials (micro and macro) and i have gotten to a place where I want to try more holistic and powerful healing so I signed up for a week in Tulum to be shot through the healing cannon as I call it Moving away from the mainstream, we explore the disputed realm of plant medicines, culminating in a detailed discussion about psychedelics. Through captivating narratives, we illuminate the evolving viewpoints surrounding these natural yet potent medicines and how the research is piling up for mental health and natural medicines. Our narratives take you on a winding journey that includes talks about the unease of being in the public eye, the adrenaline rush of suspenseful films, amidst other offbeat topics. Amidst the humor and depth, expect an uncensored exploration of divergent subjects. In a significant tonal shift, we narrate a solemn yet horrifying incident—the notorious Chowchilla Kidnapping. We relive the truly chilling ordeal of a school bus full of children buried alive in a moving trailer, a crime that has had a lasting impact on the victims and the society . We closely examine the emotional aftermath and the existent societal ignorance towards emotional trauma. AI wrote this summary after listening to the episode-it was dead on and used big words so I kept it, but what it forgot was - these are personal opinions, some facts, and for legal reasons mostly jokes
In this episode we talk about sobriety, John and I are what the kids call Cali sober. No alcohol for us. We talk about friendship and how making up stories in your head can affect friendships but also how I am avoidant attachment so I would avoid my good friend John cause he worked with women who vocally dislike me. And when I say vocally again, its never to my face. Chelsea is also the MOST supportive friend you can ever have, and yet we all still get "invited" to friends events but asked to bring our hair, makeup, or photography tools. Like are we friends are you trying to hire me for free. Follow us along as we all travel around the USA doing what we do, John being the premier photographer of Charleston, me being the coolest hairdresser you will ever meet, and Chelsea the most talented makeup artist I know. The secret to social media engagement is saying shit straight down the middle, no sides, and letting people take it how they wanna take it and letting them fight in the comments. Tik Tok anyway. We talk about the pendulum swinging in the hair industry, how we won't be editing in 2024. We ar enow on YouTube too! So you know there won't be edits. And if you're too scared to post your content on social media remember, I happily watch people eat weird snacks and hamsters run on wheels online. Your content is probably cool. That being said, I realized I am not inoffensive person, and I cannot handle walking on egg shells for social media anymore. So here we are. Should we talk about politics? Or is Fox and the Hound enough? Find us on YouTube Laura: Hairzillaa Insta Hairzillaa Tik Tok www.laurafrazier.com Kelly's Author Page
TW: Suicide, Mental Health The mics are blown, if you couldn't guess by the last few episodes but I had to wrap up the year with the busted ones! So here we are, if we laugh too loud it gets fuzzy, I did my best editing. Meet some new friends, expand big foot's reach to space, and my dislike for Anne Hathaway continues. This hot mess of an episode is the perfect bow on top of 2023. It was the year I tried to have podcast; and its been weird. 2024 I am coming with fresh equipment, a plan, and consistent episodes! So enjoy the last conversation of 2023, don't kink shame anyone, and stop using the word trigger. Unless you mean it
So I have decided to keep track of local folks who talk shit, and it's starting to be fun; plus the content creates itself at this rate, and I get to hear new information about myself! If you DM me on social maybe I'll name names-if I can remember. How can folks, and not just me or in Charleston, hate on random people they don't even know? It's a question my bestie and I have always asked each other. But we have leveled up my listeners, someone went and made a whole Tik Tok about me! We met once
I have always believed in manifestation, and then recently 3 physicists were awarded a Nobel Prize for proving we live in a quantum field! Find my fave manifestation person and courses linked below! But this rabbit hole takes us down a few of my faves like flat earth, fake foods, and the moon landing. But mostly this episode is about mindset, and what you choose to believe and how it shapes your personal reality. Stay tuned for the update on my new fans making cute videos about me (please read between the sarcasm here) the next episode is some warm tea (its not that hot) Follow me hairzillaa Manifestation Babe Katherine Zenika

This episode I wanted to talk about a trauma therapy that changed my life, and then it also turned into how our friendship came to be. From the salon, to the therapist couch, to friendship! I can promise it's all ver ethical, and my husband thought I was a mind experiment for Chis to "test" out this new therapy. Surprise it's not new! It goes beyond the "how does that make you feel" bullshit most therapists stick you with and call it medicine. Listen on in for how it works and how cool it is you can rewire some of your brain to function like a "normal" brain. Whatever normal is. Ok let's be real, there is just a generational shift happening, some online are calling it an exchange of power; between Millennials and Boomers. I have my own opinions on this, but to get to the point, my industry has seen MASSIVE changes since 2020. Left and right and everyday; and I do not think it's going to slow down any time soon. The big one right now is education. The way our industry communicates, grows, evolves and thrives is through education, but the new hairdresser is consuming and searching for MORE than just a ticket to a show. Brands are coming up and showing up and brands are cracking at the foundation refusing to change. Blake, an industry leader in my eyes as well as a voice of not only the Millennial Hairdresser but Gen Z too, sits with me and we dissect whats happening, and then maybe... at the end we let you in on something we have been brainstorming! This is a good one for all, but an exciting one for hairdressers! Follow us on social, DM us what you think/feel about this discussion! Follow us for more details as they unfold, and BTS too! Now that the Generation has a hard stop (1997-2012) there is a micro generation in the midst, the Zillenial (1990-2000) and there is a huge difference. I have had younger stylists set up interviews and ghost before, but I had my first full on hire ghosting. The part that doesn't make sense was she just never said anything, skipped work, deleted the group chat app so she wouldn't get notified we were trying to reach her and turned her read receipts off. BUT she would watch and INTERACT with the salon story. I was shooketh. I don't care if you want to quit. Just nut up, and quit! I also tried to go to the source, the local beauty school, and they didn't have much to say about accountability so I put schools on blast as far as what they actually do for our industry. My entire staff is under 26, they had a lot to say about this and about Gen Z. I just have questions. All of this, while I'm fighting for my life trying to do sober October, well I held out for this episode and we try and brand new strain and take it from there! So if this adds to my "reputation" in Charleston, so be it. Because maybe, just maybe; I am a b*tch. Follow me HAIRZILLAA
In this episode you get to meet my best friend!! Samon Mahas! Samon is doing something so many stylists are doing, and shaking up her way of life!! She went from a career one location ever stylist into her own small business inside a poppin' salon that primarily booth rents! I believe you can find success in any corner of our industry, Samon is just proof of that! As a progressive commission salon owner I always turn to Samon for insight and advice to my team because not only will she give it to me straight, she's my ideal candidate for employment! I would love to employ a strong, smart, creative person like herself! In this episode we chat about toxic salon owners and stylists! How people aren't property, how we all have our own filter in life, and the boomer salon vibe vs the modern salon vibe. I promise you if you are triggered it is on you because we are 100% generalizing from personal anecdotal evidence. In this episode we didn't flavor and strains since I went straight to the airport; but trust we did sample flavors of Milwaukee's finest the rest of the week prior. Ok this episode strain was Guava Gelato and it knocked me out of my shoes; forming sentences was hard. Kelly was sick so we got weird, since no one was there to supervise us, but this is a one take episode with zero editing. Thats rare so catch me on all platforms to get the unedited versions live on Instagram and Tik Tok - maybe I'll start a YouTube idk. But I just wanna say, I'm sorry Anne Hathaway its not personal, now that we were up 4000% on downloads I feel like she might be listening. We touch on the last episode but if you want the deets to that got back and find it! Or stay tuned for a follow up episode with Allison again! For today you get the usuals, and the affirmation this Sunday is: "If you don't give a f**k, it doesn't matter what happens." Cheers to the haters making us famous
This is the longest episode of THC history, featuring my good friend Allison owner of Salon Sage. That being said - the least edited episode. The more I listened to it the more I realized if we didn't say it to their faces, we would. And if they didn't want the smoke they wouldn't ask for it. Who is they? You'll have to listen to find out, but its an episode of what its actually like being a salon owner, our base line of anxiety, and the random ass things we have to deal with because we actually do care; despite popular belief. At the end of the day we love people, we do it for the people that believe in us and our businesses! So cuddle up, grab the popcorn, and open your social media, cause these people are real. Listen, I am approaching my yearly burn out and that means I am fresh outta F**ks, I made this podcast to talk shit and thats just what we do... before we get off on a tangent. Todays hemp is an exclusive strain, Red Runtz and it does not disappoint. The Hair industry here in Charleston, SC is sad, and angry at that. These folks have scarcity mentality and choose to bicker and be mean rather than gather and empower! So here I am getting on the band wagon and letting them know, that I know whats said, and I know who says it. No one is safe from this podcast anymore. But of course, this is all in good fun (insert wink face here) draw your own conclusions. Names are named in future episodes; maybe. Also I go live on tik too during podcasts, Sean tries to be supportive but it's just distracting. Find me on all platforms as HAIRZILLAA
