Matt and Jayce are two ex college radio guys who became ex professional radio guys who are now professionally guys in other professions. Tune in to see if you get Matt & Jayce, Prufrock & Jayce "the Ace", The Doctors of Love or maybe you'll just get two guys yelling at people to get off their lawn. Whichever pair shows up you'll get two guys talking about things they want to talk about, in the way they want to talk about them because there is no pesky Program Director to tell them they're doing it wrong.
Send us a textHave you ever wondered exactly how many d*ck jokes you should tell in front of your parents and children?Do you know exactly how long a track meet is?Have you ever wondered what music pairs well with certain amorous events in your life? How do you make your 3's, or 4's or 7's?Is it okay to punch your cat if it jumps on your head in the middle of the night?Have you heard that Jayce's dog knows how to work a mechanical bed?Kid Rock sucks but I Am The Bullgod ROCKS! I wonder if you agree? If any of this keeps you up at night then tune in. If none of these are questions that keep you up at night I bet you'll think about them now.So friends and future friends sit down and tune in to this episode of XRadioX where we generally talk about music, radio and music on the radio but not today! You've entered, THE RANDOM ZONE!!!Check us out on X, Instagram, Threads (YUP Threads), or Goodpods and tell us how happy you are thatWE. Send us a textHey Xer's, it's Episode 44! It's titled Mattshimi Battles The Pink Robots in a omage to a classic alternative album you may or' may not have heard of. This episode... Where to start? It started out as one thing, turned into kinda what we though it would be, off-roaded into something else and almost ended on a discussion of would you like to eat the same Oreo at 4:55 everyday on your drive home from work?' But then it ACTUALLY ended with Jayce telling Program Directors that he doesn't believe a word the consultants are saying when they tell them that radio is attractive to the younger generation. But Jayce knows how to make it attractive but nobody will listen to him, what does he know. (Jayce crosses arms and sulks away)Somehow we also had time to compare playlists from two Michigan Active Rock Juggurnauts against one Chatty playlist to see if Matt could sus out the robot. Did he? Guess you'll have to listen. There was also A LOT of Linkin Park talk. Matt started it, don't come at me. Remember! My dog is named Chester. :)Check us out on...Instagram and Threads @XRadioX_PodcastXitter @XRadioX1 (I think?)Text us above the word Diaphram to win tickets to the latest ShineTallicDethPunch Concert sponsored by LoveNotion Events**This is not a real contest, that is not a real band and they are not a real events company.See you next time XRadioX!
Send us a textHey Xer's its the latest and dare I say, most robotic, episode of XRadioX we've ever produced! Maybe the episode with the fake, robotic baby is a bit more robotic than this one. Maybe not?Anyway...It's episode 43 and Matt and I tackle the question of Robots and Radio. Ever since you could automate a cart deck to go to the next cart deck with a tone, radio station owners have been trying to strike that balance of automation, scheduling efficiencies and the eternal question of... Do I really need these pesky "personalities" to make this station LIVE and LOCAL. Spoiler Alert... You do, no matter what your reps tell you.Matt and I do a little talking about AI (Chatty) and how well the algorithm is not only programming your video feeds on YouTube but it's also influencing your music choices. Think about it... If you were into alternative college rock in the 90's how different is your music feed now versus then? You know it all sounds like late 90's Foo Fighters with a mix of Seven Mary Three, for you know... Variety. You can thank your previous music tastes and Spotty for making every song you like to listen too a variation of Monkey Wrench, Hey Man, Nice Shot and Cumbersome... You know, for variety.Basically whether you like it our not the robots are taking over.We also play a game where I totally kick Chatty's robot ass. Go on and listen. You won't be upset.Check us out on the socials....Instagram - Threads - Xitter

Send us a Text Message.Hey XRadioXers its another month and time for another episode of your favorite podcast and this time we're taking on the evening radio juggernaut... (cue the bumper)DELILAH!!!(tires screeching to a stop) You do know who Delilah is right? You know Delilah... The evening radio host who is basically the sonic version of Chicken Soup For the Soul. She is the the warm blanket that can comfort you on a chilly, rainy night. She's the voice that has stitched together a million broken hearts on your local Adult Contemporary station. Specifically Cars 108 if you live in Flint, MI. ;)Delilah is kinda like if Oprah and Dear Abby lab built a radio host for middle aged love sick suburban folks who just needed a little musical nudge to say... thank youI'm sorryI love youdinner is ruinedI failed the testI passed the testJK... I failed itWe lost the houseThe car broke downDawn hates meReally... She doesYou don't know DawnBut there's a good reason why she doesI digressAnd Delilah could give you the advice you need and play you a song to fix the situation. Even if she couldn't fix it she would at least make you feel better about the whole thing. So, if you didn't know that is what the Delilah radio show is all about. It's the safe space on your radio dial to request relationship advice, get a supportive "atta boy" or just air to the world that you are really sorry about that thing you did to Dawn that one time. I swear Dawn, IT WAS ONLY ONE TIME!!!So tune in and enjoy XRadioX as we give Delilah a little advice on how she could jazz the show up. A few new songs to play. Maybe throw the word Rizz or Skibidi in there to help some of those confused Millenial parents communicate just a little better with their chat. (Yeah I don't understand what I wrote there either...)Hit us up on XInstragram & Threads (@xradiox_podcast) Email We are XRadioX!
Hey Xer's! It's the end of April and what type of episode is everyone clamoring for? That's right a March Maddness episode. We know you didn't get enough of Maddness and Brackets in the ACTUAL month of March so we figured we'd give you one in the month of April! We think you missed March, Maddness and Brackets enough for not one BUT TWO episodes. You're welcome. This episode features Matt, Jayce and their special guest Jeff debating and picking winners when if comes to Grammy winning songs of the 80's versus the 90's. We'll be debating such heavy hitting matchups like Sailing versus From A Distance and Always on My Mind versus Tears in Heaven. Talk. About. A. Slugfest!!!Matt has a hot take about Beyonce and her new record and Jayce spins a yarn about hands in his pants and they weren't his! Maybe the poop story made the cut... Maybe it didn't. I guess you'll have to listen. Please enjoy this episode and within a day of publishing this we'll put up part two.Enjoy and feel free to send feedback to xradiox.feedback@google.com
XRadioX Fans!We rejoin our heroes as they are faced with deciding if Sonny will come home? Will The Police answer the musical 911 call from within the house? Is "Bette Davis Eyes" a super fun pop song? Hey XRadioXers its another month and time for another episode of your favorite podcast and this one is about a game. Not just any game it's...THE GAME! THE BIG GAME! The Superbowl, right? NO! It's the Mondegreen Game. Its the game where Matt reads lyrics that people think are correct, but aren't, and then Jayce and the special guest try to see who gets the most correct. This episode's special guest is Sluys. He's like the Edge, Cher or Jayce because he only needs one name. Sluys went to NMU with Matt and Jayce, he worked with the both of them at WUPX and he got a much better career after graduation than Matt and Jayce. Did you know that during college Sluys and Matt shared an apartment? And in that apartment there was a legendary piece of furniture called The Worm. Nobody knows who manufactured The Worm' and nobody has ever seen The Worm again after graduation. It is legend. Another fun fact: Matt, Jayce and Sluys have all slept in The Worm, individually and not together. Get your mind out of the gutter people... Matts hair wasn't THAT nice. ;)Tune in and listen to these three play THE GAME!If you're interested you can revisit the first time Sluys joined us on Episode 6.Thanks for listening and we'll chat again next month here on XRadioX!
It's that time of the year again XRadioX fans. It's the time of the year you feel bad because you forgot to get your cousin Tom, twice removed a cheese log. It's that time of year where your kids tell you about the palomino that the mysteriously rich family down the road bought for their daughter that looks nothing like her father and mysteriously like her uncle. Jeez… Compensate much? It's the time of year you make excuses to eat cookies instead of broccoli because, you know, tradition. IT'S. THAT. TIME. OF. YEAR. IT'S F@#K!NG CHRISTMAS FRIENDS!This year Matt & Jayce started out trying to crap all over Christmas music like they usually do, but mysteriously ended up talking about Christmas music they actually like. Is there a Santa, Mary? There just might be. We talk traditional songs from Bing Crosby, The Andrew Sisters, Frank Sinatra and Burl Ives to more contemporary songs from The Dropkick Murphy's, Ru Paul and various renditions of Last Christmas. Is Mariah the Queen of Christmas? SPOILER ALERT!!! The Patent and Trademark Office says NO! See Mary, there is a Santa!Tune in and enjoy us talking Christmas music and enjoy the playlist attached here. Be warned, this is generally music for people of a certain age. (That means some is not for kids!)We appreciate you listening and would love to hear from you Xwitter, in a review on Goodpods or Apple or just send us an old school e-mail (xradiox.feedback@google.com).We appreciate you all and wish you a very, VERY, Merry Christmas.
HAPPY NEW YEAR XRADIOX FANS!!!Let's get this year started with a question. Have you ever wondered if two people who have really never listened to Country music BUT have both actually worked at a Country station could program a Classic Country station? You haven't? That's understandable. You probably have your priorities straight and are a very successful person in real life. You probably also are fit, enjoy the company of others, have a prosperous 401k, have a favorite wine and are just a well rounded person. You have!?! Then this episode is for you!!! Matt and Jayce think about this stuff all the time and are convinced they could musically fix ANY and ALL music stations out there in radio land and this month we fix your Classic Country station. Here's how this goes, Matt went out and got the playlists from some of the top Classic Country station PD's like Westwood One and Elmer Aho. Jayce said I can do you one better and created his own. There's music talk, a few jokes and two friends who are CONVINCED they can fix your station if you'd only just ask. Sit down, tune in and enjoy our latest episode of XRadioX. Catch us online on Instagram, X (fka Twitter), HERE or email us at xradiox.feedback@gmail.com.Check out the playlists for the show here - Westwood One - Elmer Aho - Jayce's Classic Country RadioP.S. Jayce does have a 401k and he is working on it but he does not have a favorite wine and refuses to work on that. ;)
Hey Xers!!! It's that time of the year here in the good ol' US of A! It's Homecoming season!Did you go? Did you have a date? Did you fly solo because you had a girlfriend/boyfriend you met at summer camp who resided in Canada? Right... Canada. Are you from Germany and have NO IDEA what we're talking about? Here is your primer. It's a time of parades, football games, Homecoming Courts, getting dressed up, getting pictures taken, fancy dinners, Kings, Queens and of course... Slow Dancing. Matt and Jayce are now both fathers and Jayce even has kids going to the BIG DANCE! They just have a good time discussing things they did and a little bit of what kids are doing now. They talk some music and somehow (as it usually does) devolves into sophmoric humor about erectile dysfunction medication. And just so you know. Yes I went. Yes, my date was on the Homecoming court. AND YES... She sleeps next to me every night these days. I'm a stud, I know.So tune in and take a little trip down memory lane. Hell! Send us your Homecoming story at xradiox.feedback@gmail.com.And as usual... Thanks again XRadioXer's!
James Kochalka SUPERSTAR logged in and recorded a fun interview with us that ranged from Jayce's sons laughing in the car at his song Pony The Penis... to the always fresh Monkey vs. Robot... to Matt asking about his process... to discussing his different albums... to Jayce getting cities in Vermont mixed up... All the way to the end where we hear the story of him and his band accidentally being sent to Marquette University instead of Marquette, MI to play an epic show in spite of an epic snow storm. Who is James Kochalka you may ask? He is...A wildly prolific artist, James Kochalka (kah-chall-ka) has been creating iconic indie comics and bizzarely catchy punk rock since the early 80s. He is a two-time winner of the prestigious eisner award and in 2011 was named the first cartoonist laureate of his home state of vermont. his song “britney's silver can” was on rolling stone's Best Songs of 2006, and his song “Hockey Monkey” was the theme to fox sitcom “the loop.”I lifted that from his website where you can find out more here. Coincidentally this episode is releasing the same day as his new album Pop Popular. You can head over to his Bandcamp Page and pick it up along with his entire discography. We did not plan this but we figured since we're going to get that sweet James Kochalka SUPERSTAR bump we should give his new record that equally sweet XRadioX bump. (Seriously folks... Don't make Matt & Jayce look like punks.)You can find James on Top Shelf Comix, YouTube, Apple Music, Spotify and Bandcamp. Go check out his stuff! Thanks for listening and check out the XRadioX primer on James Kochalka here!Goodpods Top 100 Music Commentary Indie PodcastsListen now to XRadioX podcast
HEY Xer's WE'RE BACK!!! (Finally)It's Episode 34 where Matt and Jayce take on the duties of re-programming an hour of radio for any station that calls themselves or classifies their station as, Classic Alternative. What is a Classic Alternative radio format? According to Wikipedia Classic Alternative is a radio format focusing on alternative music from the late 1970s to early 1990s, with particular focus on the early days of MTV. Now that you know what to expect take a listen and let us know if Matt's playlist beats out the two "Classic Alternative" stations we put him up against. He's up against playlists from 106.3 The Core in Saginaw, MI and Indy 103.3 in Indianapolis, IN. For transparency Jayce pulled the radio stations playlists from their websites for the 12AM hour of August 8th, 2023. Check out and listen to each Spotify playlist then let us know what you think at XRadioX.Feedback@gmail.comMatt's PlaylistThe Core's PlaylistIndy 103.3's PlaylistYou can also visit these stations websites a visit and let them know what you think of what they're doing. Thanks for tuning in and thanks for your patience while we got our sh!t together over the past few months. We look forward to hearing from you at XRadioX.Feedback@gmail.com, XRadioX on Twitter(X) and our XRadioX Facebook.See ya next episode on XRadioX!
In Episode 33: The One Where We DID Our Homework, Matt and Jayce understood the assignment and delivered an episode that is anything but mid! Also, check out our playlists on Spotify that go along with this episode. WE'RE BACK!!! XRadioX has awoke from their fall slumber. We came back with more lyrics to dissect and talk about. Personally I'm happy I got to make Matt think about Cake's the distance as if it was about sex. I also enjoyed being reminded that a certain sect of music fans have no idea how magnets work. I know how they work but the Mystery is better than the truth. ;)So tune in and enjoy Matt and Jayce getting back at it.It feels so good to be back!
In this episode, Matt and Jayce wax nostalgic about the Summertime/back to school hits that dominated radio when they were in high school. It was a while ago. Longer for Jayce. Do you remember Dino? Roxette? Nelson? We give you a brand new trapper/keeper full of mid 1990s pop culture, all in a neat podcast candy coated shell!
It's Episode 30! It's the 4th of July! It's Independence Day! It's a Monday! It's XRadioX!In this (not) special episode we take a few shots at some institutional "Freedom" songs. Some of ya'll might get upset and some of ya'll might agree but that's FREEDOM BABY!!! Deep down you know you don't care for that Lee Greenwood shlock fest either. JUST. ADMIT. IT! Matt and Jayce also talk some songs that they think you should add to your 4th playlist. Picks include Neil Diamond, James Brown, CCR, The Menzingers, Public Enemy, John Cougar Mellencamp, Brad Paisley, Lee Greenwood, Toby Keith and Gil Scott-Heron even got a mention. One that didn't make the list (Jayce got sidetracked) was Ragged Old Flag by Johnny Cash. That should be on every playlist in my opinion.So... Sit back, chill and listen to this installment of XRadioX. Catch us on Twitter at @XRadioX1 or @JayceTheAce4.Have a wonderful 4th of July friends. Be safe, shoot off fireworks, eat hotdogs, enjoy non-mayo based salads and thanks for listening.
It's Episode 29 and we're at it again with the lyrics. What is it with us and lyrics? Are we dense, maybe? Are we next level when it comes to analyzing lyrical content and intent, probably not. Are we two guys who listen to way too much music and take the lyrics WAY to seriously, BINGO!So sit back and enjoy our deep dive breakdowns of these great songs: Maria Maria, Don't Bring Me Down, Kokomo, Watermelon Sugar, Africa, Astronaut In The Ocean, Pour Some Sugar On Me and Don't Touch Me there. We even chaptered it out so you can jump to the song you'd like to hear us discuss. Click on the time to jump to the discussion or click on the song title to hear the song. We're BACK! Hopefully you missed us terribly. Due to family schedules, bouts of COVID, and life just getting in the day, this is the first episode we have released in exactly 2 months! After all that time away, you would think this episode would be FULL TO BURSTING with heavily prepped material. Well you would be wrong. We hit you hard with tiny random thoughts about music, our lives, pretty sure we cure COVID, and more favorites like #bedtalk, Tony Award winning David Bryan, and Sluys throws us a musical bone to chew on, metaphorically. The important things is, we remembered how to make a podcast. So much more to come, so subscribe, like, review, be our friends!
Hey there Xers!Matt & Jayce are back with another episode of XRadioX! This is Episode 27: The One Where Jayce Plays. Plays? Plays what? Keep reading and you'll find out.In this installment we touch on all our regular topics. We cover what we've been up to, make sure you are expertly warned of crude content via our disclaimer, we give you a BedTalk update, talk about Jayce turning 47, talk about Jayce taking Christmas lights down (finally) and we play a guessing game. I know what you're think. F!@k ANOTHER guessing game? We get it guys... You like to guess music things and have us play along but another one so soon after the last one? Just wait friends... We put a different twist on this one. Jayce broke out his old acoustic guitar and plays parts of some songs and Matt has to guess what he's trying to play. WHAT!?! Jayce plays guitar? He sure does and he is solidly average at it. All this and a smidge more on this great episode of XRadioX!!! Yes... Jayce is almost 50... I know! He sounds so young. ;)
Hey there Xer's! We're back with another episode of the Mondegreen Game on XRadioX!What's a Mondegreen you ask? Have you ever heard someone sing..."I led the pigeons, with a bag, of uranium chips from South Africa" Or you heard someone yell... "Excuse me, while I kiss this guy!"Have you? If you have, that's a Mondegreen where someone thinks the lyrics are one thing when they are actually something else.Jayce and our friend Jeff both try and guess the songs that Matt has come up with and let me tell you one of these players really stinks at this game. So check us out for fun, laughter and ridiculous lyrics that will leave you scratching your head wondering how did anyone thing that was a song? Also how did they actually guess the song?We also talk about what we've been listening to and we include another boring installment of Bed Talk with Jayce and Matt where Jayce talks about sleeping. Do these guys know how to party or what!So tune in and enjoy a hour or so of fun with your friends on XRadioX! Check us out and rate us on Goodpods, Stitcher, Spotify, Apple or where ever else you listen to podcasts.
Hey there Xer's! It's Episode 25, Matt and Jayce are finally back after their holiday (and then some) break. This year they've got a lot of fun stuff planned for their listeners but first... Have you ever heard a band and thought, THEY SHOULDA BEEN HUGE-ER!!! Yeah? Us too. So Matt and Jayce went through their playlists, record collections and their mental inventory and came up with a few groups each who shoulda been HUGE-ER. So here we go... Break out of your Rut and Colour your week with some bands that shoulda been HUGE-ER. This sentence will make more sense after you listen. ;)Also Jayce bought a new bed over the holidays and tries to ruin the podcast with our new segment, BedTalk with Matt and Jayce. Hit us up on the Twitters and give us your thoughts on BedTalk and our segment on Bands That Shoulda Been HUGE-ER!!!XRadioX at @XRadioX1Enjoy and give us a rating on your favorite podcatcher like Goodpods, Apple Podcasts or Stitcher.
Merry Xmas XRadioXers! Its time for Episode 24: The One Where We Hate On XmasMatt and I spend an hour giggling and sh!ting on Xmas stuff. Thats it. Thats what we do. We sing a scientifically bad version of the worst Xmas song EVER, Baby It's cold Outside. I truly hate that song. I can't believe people like it.Somehow Dr. Suess is compared to Trent Reznor? Blame Matt for that one. Did Scott Wieland owe his record company an album or was it just a parole thing when he made an Xmas standards album? We talk the Star Wars Xmas Album, the Snoop Dogg Xmas album, and the Xmas clock is back. Its one of my favorite decorations in this house. There are comments about my age equivalency in shoes, I give away some Xmas presents I bought, Matt recites Oi to The World, Matt didn't know who did Mistress For Christmas and we just have a good old fun conversation about kitchy, crappy and hackey Xmas stuff. I even talk a little about my only real rebel moment while working at WSGW in Saginaw.I had fun, Matt had fun and we hope you have fun listening. Happy Christmas, Haunakah, Kwanza, Saturnalia, Boxing Day and have a wonderful New Year! We appreciate all the listeners... We really, really do.
Episode 23: The One Where The Empyre Strikes! In this episode we reconnect with our old radio pal Empyre! Yes folks he only has one name not unlike other musical stars like Bono, Edge or Cher. We sit and chat about old radio programs on WUPX he was part of, mix tapes and his pet project Sample The Martian. We discuss how he got his radio name and if you're from the Mid-Michigan area you will appreciate it and spoiler alert... it has NOTHING to do with Star Wars. Other things discussed are can we have another Axl Rose, the newest singer from Journey, was the Styx song Snowblind a Sabbath cover, Van Halen and most importantly... Empyre's songs from his project Sample The Martian. So sit down and take a little trip on our Radio X journey with our good friend Empyre.Check out Sample The Martian here.
HEY!!! Get your Country out of my Death Metal! NO! You get your Death Metal out of my Country!!! XRadioXer's it's time for Episode 22: The One Where Song Titles Are Disgusting. To be fair the Country song titles aren't disgusting but we needed a catchy title so cut us a break. In this episode we'll discuss, poke fun at and flat out laugh at some of these song titles. Its just Matt and Jayce riffin and having fun on this one. Be warned though... Some of these Metal song titles we bring up aren't going to be fun to explain to your kids, parents and maybe significant other so consider yourself warned. We also throw some love to our podcast friends and that's about it for this one. This episode is pretty close to what a radio program would be with us if we actually still worked at a college radio station. We hope you enjoy this one!
It's the Season 3 opener and we invited our old radio pal Spike Chiquet to come on the show and talk about stuff. And boy did we talk about stuff. Here is a short synopsis of what we talked about...He provided child labor to his employers to work his first radio jobHe was once just Spike until a secret non-family member told him to say his last name in French cause radio people have two namesHe has worked with at least one former WWF wrestler with the name Booger in his nameHe likes to brew beer and has built his own KeezerHis FCC license was stamped before Jayce graduated High School and Jayce is plenty older than SpikeHe's not a leader of a French Biker Gang like his radio name would suggest, but there is full disclosure about that in the disclaimerYou all need to know the proper way to say 90 is nine-tee. Just ask the folks at Public Radio 90.All of these things are basically true and you'll have to listen to find out exactly how much I may have exaggerated in this description.Enjoy the beginning of Season 3 with Matt and I and our special guest Spike!!!
It's a misheard lyric challenge, as we bring back our friend Jeff (The Doc of Rock) to attempt to beat Jayce in a game of "WHAT Did They Think The Lyrics Were...??!" Matt reads a WRONG lyric and the fellas try to guess what song it is. Extra points if they SING! You don't want to miss that. Also, we recap the past 10 episodes in a way that will totally make you want to download them all immediately. You've been warned. Amazingness awaits you beyond that link click!
Hey there XRadioX fans! It's been a few minutes since Matt and I remembered we had a podcast. You can really tell in the beginning but we collected ourselves and got this fun interview underway. We sat down with our old friend Dave Cole, live from his basement. We touched on how Dave joined the X, his time in the West Hall studios and how he transitioned from 'Big Steve' to the Toaster. Dave has arguably the most unique story about joining the X I've heard so far. So carve out some time and enjoy us talking to Dave while he enjoys a pumpkin beer and lets kick off the Fall together here on XRadioX!
It's Episode 18!!! We're finally legal! Our podcast can finally buy smokes! To celebrate us being 18 we have a great catch up with the one, the only…. Bridgette! She was our manager, sometimes mentor, supplier of smokes by the bench and she was always our friend! In this episode she gives us the okay to use the seven deadly words, we discuss prison mail and it's consequences, never playing cool enough music for JB and that one night we got drunk at her grandmas. Take a listen and I hope you enjoy this one as much as we did!
Welcome to Episode 17! In this episode you can tell Matt put in a lot of effort and homework to discuss more lyrics that don't make sense. Also in this episode you can witness Jayce doing his best to plow through ice cream poisoning and ride Matts coattails till the end. Matt and Jayce discuss and dissect lyrics from LFO, David Bowie, Zager and Evans, America, Backstreet Boys and Europe.By the way…. Steel Panthers version of I Want It That Way is WAY better than the original. You may disagree, but you're still wrong!
It's Episode 16 and XRadioX is officially old enough to drive! We were going to have a sweet sixteen party for XRadioX but due to certain restrictions we had to cancel. We had a punch ready to serve, those fancy little sausages in a crock pot and some puppy chow to send home with guests. I mean what is a sweet sixteen without puppy chow!?! Matt and I had even rented the Dumb & Dumber replica tuxedos for the occasion. But whatever… We'll get over it.So instead of all that we decided to do a covers episode to help cope with our disappointment. We talk some of our favorite covers from artists like Ash, The Pet Shop Boys, The Jim Carrol Band, Garth Brooks, Loggins and Messina, Paul Simon, Elvis, David Bowie, The Rocky Horror Picture Show, The Bay City Rollers, John Denver and a few others. The one tie that binds these all is they are songs we either played in our days at Radio X or would've definitely played at the good old X.Sit back, relax and enjoy some puppy chow if you got it and then leave us a review on your favorite podcast platform. You can also find us on your favorite social media sites by searching for XRadioX, and if you see that yellow background with the big black X you have found us.ZlSaFqngGl4dRxHe2jxb
Hey XRADIOX fandom!!! It's Episode 15 and we're going to talk about some of our favorite artists and music and WHY they are our favorites. We even almost get emo about it... Almost. You wanna to know why Matt loves REM and what Jurassic Park has to do with it? You wanna know why Jayce loves KISS, Poison, Frank Turner and The Gaslight Anthem? You know you wanna hear what the song Lick It Up did to Jayce's household as a kid. You wanna know why a movie soundtrack brought about Matt's creation of DDAD?Do you know what DDAD is?What song did Jayce dance to on the roof of the Iron Sheiks old mansion?Did you know the impact Soul Coughing has had on Matt? No, it's not because of Circles.Did you know Matt can read and actually likes to?We have disclaimers, music info and a quote from a book all in this episode of XRADIOX!!!
In this episode, Jayce and Matt try a new game they are calling "High, Drunk or Genius?" They each bring some songs that they find interesting, and discuss whether the artist was high, drunk, or genius when creating the song in question. It's fun! The game includes The Dead Milkmen, The Doors, Bowling For Soup, Sly and the Family Stone, and many others. Most of the time the answer is 'drunk,' but you'll have to tune in to find out for sure! Then they fanboy out about the indie podcasts they have been listening to and/or meeting on Twitter. Also, Dee Snider is their new best friend.
Hey there xRadiox fans! It's Episode 13! We were going to jump right to 14 from 12 like fancy big buildings do but we are neither buildings nor fancy so 13 it is. On this special 13th episode we have one of our old co-workers Stone Cold Jim Bollinger on with us. He was our Manager. He was our drinking buddy. He is our friend. We reminisce with Jim about the good ol days. You know the days when Jim doesn't fire Jayce because he said strawberries and sh!t on live radio. Or the days when Jim constantly yells "Boat Drinks" as his request at Jim & Ray at The Northwoods. Or the days when Jim almost dies getting the scoop with Prufrock on the aliens that are helping frame a local Palmer resident. Basically this was all in a days work when you worked at Radio X in the mid to late 90's with us. Good times. Yes indeed... Good times. We also plug one of our new podcast friends over at Next On Stage One, which is a fun (and inside look) at the adult nighclub scene in Denver. Plus I admit to liking the Drivers License song. Somedays I'm just a lovesick teenager at heart ya'll.
In this megazord-sized episode, Jayce and Matt discuss all their favorite old radio programs. They also disrupt the space/time continuum and leap forward somewhere in the middle of the episode. See if you can hear the splice! Jayce decides to dust off the bass guitar and get the band back together, and Matt gets mad at Everclear for ruining their own music. All that and they try to keep their composure after discussing Vanity 6 and the origin of their name. Stick through to the end for mid-credits bonus scene! 2 hours of conversation, for the same low price (free)!!
Welcome to Season 2! This is the episode where Matt and Jayce begin to school you on formats, radio formats. You know... The radio... The thing in your car that plays specific groupings of music when your smart phone isn't playing this podcast. The classic rocker that plays the rock music you smoked to in the parking lot in high school. Or the CHR station that's playing ALL the hits you pretend you hate but know all the words to because of your kids. Or the AC station with the cool Quiet Storm mix in the evening to get your groove on to but is kid gloved for your at work fun during the day. The Morning Zoo's! The Shock Jocks,! THE RADIO!!! The thing that brought these two great hosts together. Radio... Some. One. Still. Loves. YOUUUUU!!! (Sing that last part like Freddy Mercury)Fun Fact: Quiet Storm is my secret favorite radio format. Babyface, Al B Sure!, Jodeci, Keith Sweat, Teddy Pendergrass... Am I right? The Doctors of Love would approve.
In this META-episode of the podcast, Jayce and Matt close out the fake year talking about the podcast in which they are currently hosts. Climb into the Wayback Machine to January 2021 and experience an AUDIO version of How It Started/How It's Going. We discuss our favorite episodes, settle the age old question of "Who's better: David Bryan or Gene Simmons?" and have an all around good time. Looking forward to season 2 and much more fun! Tune in to find out where you want to dig into our back catalog. Get your mind out of the gutter!
It's Episode 9! In this installment of xRadiox Matt and Jayce catch up with Jen. 20+ years ago you could catch her all over good old WUPX where she was know as The Jentrix! Matt and I were lucky enough to call her a friend back then and had a great time catching up with her now. We talked about why she joined the X, songs that remind her of her time at the X, and the time she had to talk to Public Safety about a missing CD. Unfortunately that missing CD was not Bumblebee Tuna. Maybe you can settle a discussion we had... Was public safety on Wright Street or right across from the University Center? We also talk a little about Country Goth from England and play some Flashing Red Aeroplane and Half-Japanese. Don't worry... Matt got us permission. Even Genesis gets a mention in this episode, sorry David Bryan...So come on in, sit down and catch up with your friends Matt (Prufrock), Jason (Jayce "the ACE") and Jen (The Jentrix) here on this episode of xRadiox!
In this episode, Jayce dives down the rabbit hole of conspiracy theories that involve music; Stevie Wonder, Elvis, Andrew W.K. and even Kris Kristofferson! If you love a good conspiracy, you won't want to miss this, unless you're a lizard person... then chances are you ALREADY KNOW.....!?Also we talk about what we've been watching and listening to, and we still love the cars... the cars that go 'BOOM.'
After a few episodes where Matt and Jayce interview former Xers they decide to take an episode for themselves. Matt brings up lyrics he doesn't "get" from famous songs. We discover Jayce doesn't do his homework, chat about what we've been listening to and discover that Matt thinks all of Jayce's favorite shows are FAKE!!! Can you believe he doesn't like Ghost Adventures!?! I guess nobody's perfect. Thanks for listening and you can find us on our Instagram at xradiox_podcast and on twitter at @XRadioX1. We have a group on Facebook, it's private but if you find it we may just let you in. Go follow Nihilist Arby's on Twitter. It's a fun read... If you can read... But who cares... Nevermind.
In this sixth installment of xRadiox, Matt and Jayce talk to Sluys. Its a great talk. Its a long talk, but its a great one. We talk about Sluys joining the X, some of his favorite memories and his song list. The Love Pad was brought up, movie night and The Red Hot Chili Broeemers... Remember them? They opened for the Mighty Mighty Broemertones. Also does anyone remember Bridgette's favorite WuTang song? We could not remember for the life of us, but it made Sluys' list. This is ALSO the episode where Matt rants about The Eagles vs. Michael Jackson. Intrigued..?Take a listen and we hope you enjoy this as much as we are! If it weren't for you all this wouldn't be possible and we greatly appreciate it.Oh yeah... We intruduced disclaimers in this episode. Thanks Jeff... I think?p.s. Don't worry, David Bryan pops up in conversation in this one too. It's brief but its there.
In the latest episode of xRadiox Matt and Jayce interview The Doc Of Rock! The regular world knows him as Jeff. The Doc and Prufrock inherited All Request Saturday Night from Bridgette in 1996 or 1997 and carried it till 1999? Although he was never “officially” on ARSN, Jayce always seemed horn his way in and the three would help Radio X listeners party their Saturdays into Sunday's. Then off to the Washtub to celebrate with cheap beer and bar bands. Then we'd wait six days and do it again!it was great to catch up with The Doc and talk about why he joined The X.
In this episode of xRadiox, Jayce tries to teach Matt to NFL! Jayce goes over the NFL Draft with Matt and also helps him decide who he is and is not supposed to root for in the NFL if your team is the Eagles. So if you don't know how to draft, root or sports in an NFL way this may be the episode for you! Probably not but listen anyway. FYI... Jayce is a Lions fan so what does he know about the NFL to begin with? There is also some chatter about things they've been watching and listening to. Matt's been digging the new Kings of Leon and Jayce tells him that a bird pooped in one of the band members mouths once. They also bring up David Bryan and to their knowledge no bird (or any other animal) has pooped in his mouth. All this and a few other things in this episode of xRadiox!!!
Matt & Jayce try to talk about 2021 and end up talking about 2020. They wonder if you'll keep watching first run movies at home? Was 2020 all bad? They also talk about having 10 listeners and mention a review. They even mention David Bryan AGAIN!
Matt & Jason talk about radio, some other things and Sketchers. This is also where you can hear the Duran Duran Appreciation Day story!
xRadiox - Episode #1 - The ONE where we figure out how to work this thingHey its the inaugural episode of xRadiox! This is the one where Matt & Jason figure out how to work this thing, we talk about David Bryan for some reason and discuss BAD Christmas Songs. It's kind of our origin story and like other origin stories it gets better as the story goes on. BTW... This was recorded in mid-December 2020 so you'll have a little context of why we are talking about what we are talking about.
