Alberta's new regulations allow hunters to target female cougars with cubs. That's exactly what happened to a cat John E. Marriott had been tracking for the past four years. The renowned wildlife conservation photographer tells us why he believes the hunt was "legal but unethical," and what he's doing about it. Later in this episode, we get details on a stunning betrayal as a U-11 soccer coach (allegedly) steals two years' worth of fundraising, burying plans for a tournament in Vegas. 3:30 | John E. Marriott tells us about an emotional few days, and his mission to save orphaned cougar cubs (and reverse changes to Alberta's hunting laws). In Hour 2 we were joined by Sportsnet's Mark Spector and Edmonton film producer Adam Scorgie. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
DBS is back today with film producer, Adam Scorgie. We wanted to talk to Adam about his new Phil Heath documentary, Breaking Olympia, which we did, but not before Mr. Scie went off about the Covid rules and regulations he had to fight for just to get this documentary finished. It's astonishing when you look back on how Canadians and people from around the world were stifled just to make a living. Not compliance or total compliance in extreme situations can't be warranted but listening to Adam talk about how we had to keep trying to get into Canada makes you wonder what government actually does for people in times of crisis. - We talked about Dolph, Lundgren and his cancer, diagnosis and what it was like to try to shoot the “I Must Break You“ Documentary. - Dolph's He-Man, Masters of The Universe, power sword. - Phil Heath documentary where it's screening in Edmonton and where you can watch it at home. - Why Adam continues to follow extreme athletes, and characters as subjects for his documentaries. - Why Canada should think Adam for making legal weed possible with his documentary The Union
Today we welcome Lochlin Cross and Adam Scorgie to the program.
We're back on a Wednesday!!!! Legendary filmmaker/documentarian Adam Scorgie stops it to talk about his latest Doc, "Thunder," the life and death of Arturo Gatti. THE MOST recognizable Canadian Boxer, not named Lennox Lewis, died under mysterious circumstances in 2014 in Brazil. Adam and His team had unprecedented access to Gatti's family and investigators as they tried to piece together what happened to "Thunder" the night he allegedly killed himself. Adam recounting the story as he filmed the documentary is INCREDIBLE theater. We also tapped Scorgie's brain on CBC VS PEEPEE and if government funding is the real issue. We took a minute to console each other as the Leafs and Oilers laid giant fat EGGS in game one of their opening-round playoff series. What's worse? Blowing a 2 goal lead twice OR getting blown out from Jump Street? I say "blowout" and explain why. It's all about the proper use of time.

It's our last show of 2022 and we have a big TIME documentarian to talk about his favourite stories of 2022 and what's next (our documentary) in 2023. Elon VS perception and reality? Tesla? Ottawa Convoy? The rise of Fascism? We also talk about the new Dolph Lundgren and Jordan Tootoo documentary. Scorgie is producing both and the stories are insane. We finish out the show with a legendary freak out at Miami airport and a bad rectal exam!

Producer Filmmaker Talk with Adam ScorgieAdam Scorgie's plan A has always been to work hard, be humble and take chances; and it has worked tremendously to date. A father of 3, a loving husband and an acclaimed documentarian, Adam has an astonishing ability to balance his relentless work schedule and his invaluable family time. To date, Adam has produced ten feature films, with two features currently in post-production including ‘Inmate #1: The Rise of Danny Trejo' and ‘Bisping', an in-depth look at the life of UFC legend Michael Bisping. His leadership and loyalty to his team has ensured that his future films guarantee to impress and inspire those who watch them.DescriptionProducers, directors, choreographers and professionals in related occupations oversee and control the technical and artistic aspects of film, television, video game, radio, dance and theatre productions. They are employed by film production companies, radio and television stations, video game companies, broadcast departments, advertising companies, sound recording studios, record production companies and dance companies. They may also be self-employed.Job ForecastOver the 2016-2018 period, employment in this occupational group grew strongly. The unemployment rate increased slightly to reach 4.1% in 2018, below the national average of 5.8%. However, the unemployment rate for this occupation has been historically below the average of all occupations, mainly because about 60% of the workers are self-employed. The increase in the number of unemployed workers, coupled with a low and stable number of job openings, led to a surge in the number of available workers to fill those vacancies. The mixed signals of key labour market indicators suggests that the number of job seekers was sufficient to fill the job openings in this occupational group.Employment RequirementsA university degree or college diploma in the performing arts, broadcasting, journalism, business administration, theatre production or film studies and Experience in a technical or production occupation in motion pictures, broadcasting or theatre are usually required.Stressed about work? Upon request in 2012, the film, which focused on the war on drugs, would go on to screen for government officials in Canada's Parliament Hill during the country's preliminary steps to legalizing marijuana nationwide. Adam was very fortunate to be a two-time guest on Joe Rogan's to talk about the impact of both films.Being a Golden Glove boxer in his teenage years, Adam's interest in hand-to-hand combat lead him to spend 8 years developing ‘Ice Guardians', a film examining the enforcer role in the NHL. Adam's high school was also home to many players for the WHL's Kelowna Rockets, which opened the door to conversations with NHLers such as Stanley Cup Champion Scott Parker. After many years of production, the film premiered to rave reviews in 2016 - the film landed at Netflix, where it can still be streamed worldwide. To date, Adam has produced 12 feature films, with another two feature documentaries currently in various stages of production ‘Breaking Olympia' and “Direct to Dolph: An American Dream” along with a three-part doc-series also in production titled “Thunder: The Life & Death of Arturo Gatti” it's safe to say Adam and Score G Productions has been able to stay busy during the global pandemic.Adam is a shining example of how powerful a person can be by simply putting in the work every day in order to achieve their dreams.
