In this episode of the show, Binksy, Jamie, Baldy and Stu kick off the IPL 2025 coverage by previewing the fortunes of the Kolkata Knight Riders, Sunrisers Hyderabad, Rajasthan Royals, Mumbai Indians and the Chennai Super Kings. We start with a Baldy explainer, and a quick chat about the impact of the mega auction, before moving straight into the team previews. We discuss what excites us about our chosen teams, whether that's particular players or team storylines, and whether they'll be in title contention come the business end of the tournament. First up is KKR, in which Binksy asks why they aren't favourites with the betting agencies, highlights the importance of Andre Russell and Sunil Narine again, as well as the talented Indian bowling core featuring the likes of Varun Chakravarthy, Harshit Rana and Vaibhav Arora. There's also a word on Ajinkya Rahane taking over as captain. Next is Sunrisers Hyderabad, in which Stu gets excited about songs, Abhishek Sharma, Nitish Kumar Reddy, the power-packed batting lineup and bowling reinforcements, before asking whether this team can go one better in 2025. For the Rajasthan Royals, the absence of Jos Buttler is the question on our minds. Without him and others, they look weaker and the betting agencies have written them off. But can Sanju Samson, Yashasvi Jaiswal and co. make those odds look silly when the winners medals are handed out at the end of May? The Mumbai Indians are up fourth, and Baldy proceeds with caution when discussing their favouritism with the bookmakers. Will the star-studded batting lineup featuring Rohit Sharma, Suryakumar Yadav, Tilak Varma, Hardik Pandya and friends deliver in 2025? Or will the absence of Jasprit Bumrah - for how long? - be too difficult to overcome with the ball in hand? To round out part one of our preview, Jamie takes a look at CSK, highlighting the plethora of options their allrounder-packed squad provides them. What role will Rachin Ravindra play? Will MS Dhoni continue his six-hitting exploits? And when the team does settle on a best XI, will it be strong enough to take them to the final? Another decade-long streak has been broken under Rohit Sharma's captaincy. India lost a Boxing Day Test in Melbourne for the first time in 13 years after their big guns flopped once again. Pressure is mounting on Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma.  Are Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma overstaying their welcome in the Test team? How long will we keep hearing the oft-repeated refrain: “Retirement is a personal call?" Does anyone within the Indian cricket team's setup have the authority to tell Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli that their time is up? Can the head coach or selectors take the bold call of dropping them in Sydney? Some established senior players in the past, including Cheteshwar Pujara and Ajinkya Rahane -- the heroes of India's last Test series triumph in Australia -- were told their services were no longer required when their form dipped. “Captain Ajinkya Rahane has held this Mumbai team together.” Rahane's Mumbai teammates rightfully said this throughout the 2023-24 Ranji Trophy season. On 14 March 2024, Mumbai clinched the Ranji Trophy for the record-extending 42nd time. Rahane was available for Mumbai for the entire season, barring two games, which he had to sit out due to a niggle. He scored a vital half-century in the second innings of the Ranji final but was woefully out of form otherwise. However, for Rahane, the championship trophy matters the most and not the runs in front of his name. Throughout the campaign, his leadership won the hearts of fans and critics and resourcefully marshalled his troops to end Mumbai's title drought. In this episode of Kattyawarchya Gappa with Amol Karhadkar, Sports Journalist, The Hindu, Ajinkya talks about how domestic cricket has changed since his debut, Mumbai's 2023-24 domestic season and how Mumbai won their 42nd Ranji Trophy title…

It's not the biggest of surprises that Ajinkya Rahane has made a comeback in the Indian side for the World Test Championships final. MS Dhoni has given a clear hint that he might soon hang up his boots. In this episode of Saaptahik CCBK, Amol Karhadkar, and Amol Gokhale shed light on these hot topics.

Injury-hit India team rose from the ashes to hold on to the Border-Gavaskar Trophy in one of the greatest Test victories against Australia. India scripted a story of grit, guts and glory at Brisbane Test as it scored 329 against Australia. India beat Australia by three wickets in the fourth Test in Brisbane, pulling off a record run-chase in a thrilling final session to hand Australia their first defeat at Brisbane's Gabba ground since 1988. In a conversation, we talk about how stars of the series, Rishabh Pant, Washington Sundar, Ajinkya Rahane and others took India from losing a match being bowled out for 36 runs to an emphatic victory in the fourth Test, widely considered, the best Test series win in Indian history. Excerpt: Sidney Kiran: Hello and welcome to another episode of DH Radio. Cricket fans in India couldn't have asked for a better New Year's gift than this. What a performance by the Indians, bruised, battered and struggling to field personnel in the final Test of a riveting series. We Indians or other India A that I should be saying, pulled off one of the biggest heists in cricket when they stunned a full strength of Australia to retain the Border-Gavaskar trophy. Every journalist and critics were immensely scrambling for words to describe the heroic show. Today, Roshan Thyagarajan and I talk about one of the finest series ever played between the two great cricketing nations. Hi, Roshan, how you doing? Roshan Thyagarajan: Hi, Sidney. I'm good, man. Thank you. Sidney: Firstly, so let's start off. I mean, the whole world was talking about this entire series, the series initially looked as if it might never take place. There were troubles before the series. Indians had problems with the bio-bubble. We didn't know if a match could happen in Brisbane. And both the nations are battling a pandemic and Australia now more so very stringent. Tune in to the podcast to know more about the conversation. We ask whether NZ needs to push for longer Test series, and ask whether David Warner, Steve Smith and Shakib al Hasan deserved to be honoured in ICC Teams of the Decade. As we move to the Australia v India series (24:00), we discuss a stunning response from India at the MCG to level the series. Shubman Gill, Mohammed Siraj, Ravindra Jadeja, Ravi Ashwin and Ajinkya Rahane all receive praise, Binksy signals a momentum shift, Baldy comes off the long run about Australian team selection and Raj talks about himself in the third person. We wrap up the show with the thrilling Boxing Day Test at Bay Oval (47:20), where the Blackcaps beat Pakistan just before time expired on Day 5. Kane Williamson moves to #1 in the Test rankings, Neil Wagner has all of us glowing and Mitchell Santner has us discussing a spinner taking the final wicket for NZ in home conditions. I rant against the captaincy of Virat Kohli and the current setup and strategy of the Indian Cricket Team. We discuss the reasons why Virat Kohli should not be the captain of the Indian Cricket team and instead why guys like Rohit Sharma, Ajinkya Rahane or R Ashwin are better suited for that role. Virat Kohli has not won any ICC Trophy or even IPL as a captain, which is a damp squib considering his predecessor MS Dhoni's record or his Indian Counterpart Rohit Sharma in the IPL. Virat Kohli may be the greatest batsman or greatest cricketer of this generation but certainly not the greatest of captains.  While discussing all this, we go into the latest fiasco of 36 All Out at the Adelaide Cricket Ground and also how India bounced back from it in Melbourne under the captaincy of Ajinkya Rahane with a resounding victory. The comeback victory had a lot to do with the freedom with which the team played after Virat Kohli left the group. All this and more in this 32nd episode of the Haryanvi Podcast. In a hearty chat, Rahane talked about the current Lankan team, and how they would not do the mistake of taking their opponents lightly. Though India enjoys an upper-hand against their opponents, but they can still spring a surprise, that Virat Kohli and boys need to be wary of. Also Rahane made it clear during the interview that they are not thinking about the South Africa series as yet, as to be the no.1 team in the world, they'll have to focus on one team at a time. Although Rahane, on being compared to Rahul Dravid, used to shun it, but now has said that he likes it whenever he is compared to the great cricketer. According to him, that only serves as a good motivation to him. "He is my role model off the field too, and I would like take up challenges of ODI and T20 cricket, like the way he did." ENTERTAINMENT After the two films- S Durga and Nude- were left out from the 48th IFFI, director Sujoy Ghosh resigned as jury head of the Indian Panorama section without giving any reason. On Wednesday morning, film editor and a senior jury member, Apurva Asrani too stepped down from his post. But another member, filmmaker Rahul Rawail, has said he was kept in the loop by the Information and Broadcasting ministry. The I&B Ministry on November 9 had listed 26 feature and 16 non-feature films for the Indian Panorama section of IFFI, leaving out the said films which were recommended by the jury. All reports suggest that the switch was made at the ministry-level without consulting the jury.
