The oldest tattoos that have been discovered are from a caveman named, Otzi. He has 61 tattoos which appear to have been very specifically and intentionally placed. This episode starts off as a Mummy-like expedition with Steven and Layla trying to make it to Amunet's tomb before Arthur and his cult. And they're trying to do it without Marc or Khonshu. And it goes about as well as you would expect.  And then there's the end. Pulled straight from Jeff Lemire's 2016 run. Giving us just enough to wonder if this whole thing was made up in Marc's head but then also showing us that no, no this is very real. Barry and Iris' valentines date is interrupted by Amunet Black, who steals a valuable brief case containing a device. The two track Amunet to Ivo Labs where she is confronted by her ex-boyfriend Goldface, who gets away with the device Amunet was attempting to steal. Barry and Iris witness the confrontation between them, before leaving with the device in the brief case. After a brief argument with Barry over life choices, Iris allies herself with Amunet by giving her the device. Afterwards, Amunet and Goldface reconcile as do Barry and Iris, who is revealed to still be trapped in the mirror at McCulloch Tech and that Eva was impersonating her the whole time. Meanwhile, Frost convinces Allegra to reconnect with her ex boyfriend, while Nash starts seeing visions of Harry.

Now normally we don't care much for "themed" episodes that line up with holidays but we really did enjoy this episode of The Flash (Love is a Battlefield). First off, Candice Patton was great. After Iris got pulled into the mirror at the end of last episode, we were expecting a "Mirror" version of Iris. But instead of just making this evil-Iris, we got more subtle behavior changes (aside from her all the sudden knowing how to cook). Every one of the things Iris does this episode that could tip Barry off that something was wrong could easily be explained with a legit reason. It was a great way to show that Iris has grown and that Barry needs to realize that his wife isn't some damsel in distress and more than capable of taking care of herself (Of course...that's ignoring that she got herself in trouble and the real her is now trapped in a mirror but anyway...) We also talk about how great Amunet is and how we want her to lead the rogues and we have a couple of theories on why Nash saw another Wells briefly.  Kriss and Dpalm record the Mailbag at the end of every month. DeVoe infiltrates the A.R.G.U.S. facility holding Fallout by impersonating John Diggle and kills most of the security, except for a few hostages; overcharging and killing Fallout to be a nuclear battery for the satellites. Caitlin and Cisco ask Barry to train them in Flashtime so that they can save the hostages and Barry can follow DeVoe through the breach before it closes. In the last stages of pregnancy, Cecile's telepathy causes her to take on the personality and thoughts of anyone nearby. Harry and Iris track Marlize to London, and use the last extrapolator to get there. Caitlin and Cisco are able to rescue the hostages. Searching her mind for Killer Frost, Catlin has Cisco vibe her into a repressed memory of a childhood accident; Killer Frost was already part of Caitlin decades before the particle accelerator had created any metas. Barry manages to follow DeVoe through the breach and destroys one of the satellites with Amunet's bomb. DeVoe takes control of S.T.A.R. Labs and uses its satellite to replace the one destroyed. He initiates the Enlightenment protocol in the time vault.

"Harry and the Harrisons" hope they can work as a team to help discover DeVoe's plan. Since the original Council of Wells kicked Harry out because of his dwindling intelligence, they will need to gather the Wells of different Earths. The result is...disappointing. At least to Harry. Meanwhile, Caitlin works on more solutions to reconnect to Killer Frost, and when Joe suggests looking at it from a different point of view, she thinks that teaming up with Amunet Black might do the trick. They tell our heroes it could work, but Caitlin really wants Amunet's gene splicer. However, she's not where they expect her, and her lackey Norvock has stolen much of her metal shards (and the splicer) to sell to the highest bidder. After finding Amunet, she reluctantly (ad suspiciously) agrees to help out, if they'll get her the metal shards. But this cheeky villain isn't the most honest one they've encountered and she quickly betrays them. Though she didn't kill anyone and she gave them a weapon that could potentially stop his satellites. The new Council of Wells helps Harry see with his heart instead of his head. It may be the key they're looking for, and Iris might just let the whole city know what DeVoe has been up to all year. Cisco assembles a Council of Harrisons to try and come up with a way of stopping Harry's intelligence loss. Team Flash reluctantly go to Amunet for help, encountering her successor Norvok in the process, though Barry insists Amunet must not kill. The team is eventually given a bomb made from Amunet's metal which will be capable of destroying one of DeVoe's satellites, and Harry manages to work out that DeVoe's plan might be changing because Marlize is no longer with him. Iris posts an article revealing DeVoe's plan and the residents of Central City begin reporting DeVoe sightings, which Iris believes will hamper his ability to remain undetected.

In times of trouble, "True Colors" come shining through. Warden Wolf makes a deal to sell his collection of bus-metas to Amunet Black. This throws a temporary and metaphorical wrench in Devoe's mysterious plan, but he is more than confident that he will come up with a solution. Once Cecile reads Wolf's mind and discovers where Barry truly is, the team works with Ralph and his newly discovered power of shapeshifting into other's likeness, in order to save Barry before the final deal is made. But Barry is on top of it and manages to break out of Wolf's power-inhibiting cell with the others metas and escape in the sewers of the prison. The group consists of some pretty dastardly villains; except for maybe Becky. She decides to turn over a new, lucky leaf once they get out. But Wolf catches Barry just before they get away, leaving Becky to save him from the warden, Amunet, and the vindictive prisoners after they discover he's the Flash. None of it really matters though when Devoe himself shows up. Jay and Josh hope to win a new car from Frosty Oprah on this week's episode of Scarlet Velocity: A Flash Podcast!

Barry and the imprisoned bus metas (Ramsey Deacon, Becky Sharpe, Mina Chaytan, and Sylbert Rundine) are prepared to be sold to Amunet, therefore they plan to escape. Ralph encounters a former client, which prompts him to discover a new ability of being able to shapeshift. However, he has not yet fully mastered this ability when trying to foil Amunet's deal with Wolfe. Barry helps the metas to escape, but are cornered by Wolfe and Amunet. DeVoe/Dominic shows up, once again using his chair to extract the metas' abilities, before transferring his mind into Sharpe's body. The Thinker then kills Wolfe, but Amunet flees before she suffers the same fate. Ralph uses his shapeshifting ability to turn into the original DeVoe, claiming that he was unconscious at Barry's loft but not dead, clearing Barry's name. Despite this success, Team Flash realizes that DeVoe is only stealing powers from metahumans that were on the bus when Barry unleashed the dark matter wave, which means he is targeting Ralph as well. Back at the DeVoes' house, their marriage begins to deteriorate, and the Thinker drugs his wife with the Weeper's love tears to maintain her devotion towards him and they dance.

Cecile develops telepathic abilities as a result of her pregnancy, combined with dormant dark matter in her cells, which Caitlin assures her should be temporary. In prison, Barry learns that Ratchet is innocent of a robbery-homicide that was actually committed by Sylbert Rundine fifteen years prior. Barry asks the team to look into the case. Rundine turns out to be a bus meta with the ability to shrink and enlarge objects, and he shrinks Cisco and Ralph while escaping. Harry's attempted cure backfires, and Caitlin determines that if they are not re-enlarged within a certain period of time, their bodies will explode. The team confronts Rundine at a warehouse, where Harry tricks him into re-enlarging Ralph and Cisco. Rundine is arrested, but refuses to confess to the earlier crime. Barry gathers that even if Ratchet went free, he would be as unhappy in the city as he is in prison; he wishes to live in a secluded Chinese village called Jiaju, but fears he will never get there. After Joe assures him that he will always do his best, Barry uses his speed to take Ratchet to Jiaju, where he can live out his dream. After discovering Barry is the Flash, the warden locks Barry in the prison's metahuman wing, intending to sell him to Amunet. Help make this show happen! Iris claims they have to look for both of them, despite Wells’ claim that they have insufficient time and resources and that they can only afford to search for one. Barry is held in DeVoe’s lair. Caitlin is forced by Amunet to perform surgery on a metahuman named Dominic Lanse, who can read minds. They try to escape, but Amunet blocks their exit. Caitlin manages to briefly incapacitate Amunet, and she and Dominic flee the building they are being held in. Once outside, they are rescued by Cisco and Ralph, as Iris has chosen to focus on finding Caitlin. Barry manages to escape from DeVoe. Team Flash celebrate Christmas at the West house and Dominic joins them. Barry gets a security alert from his apartment. When he arrives, he receives a phone call from Dominic, who reveals that Amunet re-kidnapped Dominic and DeVoe has transferred his mind into Dominic’s body.
