On the show today, Greta Gerwig has cast the lead actress in her highly anticipated new movie franchise, and we have some very extreme thoughts about it. Plus, the world watched as former Dance Moms' star turned musician and social media personality JoJo Siwa fell in love with Australian advocate, actor, and podcast host Kath Ebbs. Then JoJo entered the Celebrity Big Brother UK house and everything changed. Now we have to talk through the fallout from this event, from JoJo’s alleged new relationship with fellow Big Brother star Chris Hughes, to Kath’s now deleted video announcing the break-up, the stories that have come to light from their friends and co-stars now that they are out of the house and what will happen next.

Dr. Mounir Neamatalla is the founder of Environment Quality International, EQI, which he founded in 1981. EQI started out as the first environment-focused advisory in Egypt and went on to become a pioneer in the world of micro-finance. Then in 1996, Dr. Mounir's visit to the remote oasis of Siwa led to the launch of the pathbreaking Siwa Sustainable Development Initiative. My conversation with Dr. Mounir was special for a number of reasons—he is a family friend, I've long-admired his philosophy on life and how he sees the world, and he has all the characteristics of what is fast becoming a bygone era. He is a romantic, a dreamer, a deep thinker, choosing the slower measured approach over today's fast and frenetic pace. He has been on my podcast wish list since the show's inception but he kept resisting my requests to come on and share his story...until now. Learn more about your ad choices. This week on Name 3 Songs… ⚡ Fangirl Nonsense: Dua Lipa is maybe a boring pop star? Chappell Roan owned Coachella. Barry Keoghan is spotted being a supportive boyfriend to Sabrina Carpenter. ⚡ Orville Peck and Willie Nelson teamed up for a gay cowboy anthem. Orville Peck is one of the few openly gay country singers. Willie Nelson is a grandfather of the genre. The two teamed up for a cover of “Cowboys Are Frequently Secretly Fond of Each Other” – making a statement that country is for the LGBTQIA+ community despite what the country industry tries to make people believe. ⚡ Jojo Siwa faces backlash from netizens after claiming she wanted to make a new genre – “gay pop.” This is coupled with the release of her new song “Karma” and the accompanying music video that sees Siwa leaning into the sexual pop star trope for the first time in her career. We discuss how the 20 year-old dancer-turned-singer is using sexual imagery to distance herself from her child star image and how this decision compares to Disney stars like Miley Cyrus, Selena Gomez and Demi Lovato. JoJo Siwa's Gay Pop Debacle: In this segment, we dive into the latest buzz in the music world as JoJo Siwa walks back her bold claim of "inventing" gay pop after receiving some well-deserved side-eye from queer pop pioneers. We discuss her aspirations to be the "CMO of Gay Pop" and the long history of LGBTQ representation in pop music that came before her, from icons like David Bowie and Elton John to modern trailblazers like Lil Nas X and Troye Sivan. Siwa's comments sparked a conversation about the importance of acknowledging the contributions of those who paved the way and the ongoing fight for visibility and acceptance in the music industry. We also touch on the reaction from other artists, including Tegan and Sara's silent "Really, ma'am?" and the imagined "board meeting" with Charli XCX, Lady Gaga, and the ultimate President of Gay Pop, Cher. The Life and Legacy of O.J. Simpson: Next, we reflect on the complicated life and legacy of O.J. Simpson following his passing at age 76. From his meteoric rise as a football star and actor to his stunning fall from grace after the murder trial that captivated the nation, we examine how the case exposed deep divisions in America and forever changed how Simpson was viewed in the public eye. We delve into the details of the trial, the infamous slow-speed chase, and the controversies that surrounded the case. Simpson's later robbery conviction and prison sentence added yet another chapter to his tumultuous story, and we discuss the public's fascination with his life and the lasting impact of his legacy. We also touch on the reactions from the families of Nicole Brown Simpson and Ron Goldman, and the ongoing debate over celebrity justice and race in America. Drake's Rap Beefs and Subliminal Disses: The rap world is heating up as Drake faces an onslaught of subliminal disses from former friends and collaborators on Future and Metro Boomin's new album. We break down the potential jabs from The Weeknd and A$AP Rocky, unpacking the long history and behind-the-scenes drama between them and Drake. Could this be revenge for past slights, like Drake allegedly trying to sign The Weeknd to OVO or rumors of Drake's involvement with Rocky's current partner Rihanna? We speculate on the meaning behind the cryptic lyrics and the possibility of new feuds bubbling up in the rap scene. We also discuss Drake's own recent releases and the ongoing debate over his dominance in the genre, as well as the trend of using music to air out personal grievances and settle scores in the public eye. Gypsy Rose Blanchard's Latest Chapter: Finally, we catch up on the latest with Gypsy Rose Blanchard, who has filed for divorce and a restraining order against her husband Ryan Anderson just months after leaving prison. We discuss her journey since the murder of her mother Dee Dee, her time behind bars, and her attempts to move forward and rediscover herself. We delve into the details of her marriage to Anderson, whom she met while in prison, and the recent breakdown of their relationship. As Gypsy Rose navigates her new life on the outside, we examine the challenges she faces in building a future for herself and the ongoing fascination with her story. We also touch on the wider issues of abuse, mental health, and the criminal justice system that her case brought to light, and the lessons that can be learned from her experience. ************************************************************* ✅GEL BLASTERS - 10% OFF YOUR ORDER https://wawdpod.com/blaster ************************************************************* ✅BLUECHEW - FIRST ORDER FREE Only $5 Shipping https://wawdpod.com/blue ************************************************************* ✅DUDEROBE - PROMO CODE: WAWD 20% OFF https://duderobe.com - promo code: WAWD ************************************************************* ✅THE PERFECT GIFT FOR ANY OCCASION!! PART TWO. In Canada, there is a stretch of highway between the cities of Prince Rupert and Prince George that covers 725 km (or 450 miles). For over 50 years, this dark, isolated road has swallowed up women and girls in the night from 1969 to present. Because of the despair that has happened along this corridor, it is now known as the Highway of Tears. In this three-part series, we will be exploring this area and the devastating stories found alongside it. If you have any information for any of these cases, please call the E-PANA Tip Line at 1.877.543.4822.Content Warning: Sexual assault Reservation Dogs episode mentioned: Reservation Dogs: Season 3, Episode 3Tea of the Day: Tribal Tea Co. In today's episode of Destination Morocco podcast, Azdean, Hiba and Sam expand on the historical canvas and cultural fabric formed by the Amazigh, or Berber, tribes across North Africa. Our focus is an overview of some of the more prominent tribes and communities, who have had a long and lasting impact on the region. Long before modern political borders, invaders and settlers, and contemporary languages and culture, these Amazigh peoples were laying down cultural roots still seen today. Our list includes:the Riffians of Northern Morocco and the Rif Mountains, the Kabyles of Northern Algeria, the Tuareg: a more nomadic people but with predominantly in Mali, the Chleuh of southern Morocco and the High Atlas Mountains (Agadir, Tafraout, Ouarazazate areas), the Zayanist of a different area of southern Morocco (the Anti-Atlas Mountains), the Mzabites of central Algeria, and the Siwa of western Egypt, who have far more in common with their Amazigh cousins than with the Arabs of contemporary Egypt. In Part 1 of our series, we gave an overview of the Amazigh culture and identity, and its history and influence dating back thousands of years. In Part 2, we explore the distinct identities, customs and dialects within the Amazigh world, since they are far from a homogeneous community, which makes sense covering such a large area. While listening to their story, it is important to erase for a moment those borders, lines, names and flags that are more familiar. Underneath are the Amazigh, and when you visit Morocco, or indeed continue further across North Africa, you will know who these groups are and how they all fit together. Our series, "The Amazigh Chronicles," will continue after this as additional bonus episodes for those who enjoy diving in deeper to cultural history from a modern day perspective, brought to you by native Moroccans themselves. Keep an eye out for further episodes in our podcast feed. Our general theme in early 2024 is learning about cultural identities in Morocco and North Africa, and in turn opportunities for you as a traveller to understand and experience this in person. Our upcoming episodes in February, including our Live Q&A, will continue along these lines with lots of practical information and advice to help you really get to know Morocco and its people.
