Dr. Guillermo Contreras // #FitnessAthleteFriday // www.ptonice.com In today's episode of the PT on ICE Daily Show, ICE Fitness Athlete Division faculty member Guillermo Contreras explores the concept of AMRAP sets (As Many Reps As Possible) and their significance in strength training and rehabilitation. Guillermo begins with the importance of strength improvement for clients in various settings, including athletes and post-operative patients. He emphasizes that nearly 90% of patients aim to enhance their strength as part of their recovery or fitness goals. Guillermo delves into the science behind muscle hypertrophy, highlighting that effective muscle growth can occur even at lower percentages of one-rep max, starting at around 30%. Guillermo lays the groundwork for understanding how AMRAP sets can be utilized to achieve strength and hypertrophy goals effectively. Today’s guest on the Millionaire Secrets podcast is Jason Khalipa. Jason is a CrossFit world champion and owner of the fitness chain of gyms, NC Fit. He’s also the author of the book As Many Reps As Possible - a great selling book on Amazon. On top of these achievements, Jason is also a father, having a baby daughter with his high school sweetheart. Unfortunately, Jason’s daughter developed leukemia - and this has understandably had a big impact on other areas of his life. The NC Fit chain he owns today is a reincarnation of a chain of gyms that he started straight out of college at only 22. With 20 locations across the globe, including corporate wellness centers in Asia, Jason is a busy man. Let’s not forget his training efforts to be an elite-level athlete too! So how has he achieved all of this, using the same 24 hours in a day that we all get? That’s what we dig into in today’s episode. There’s more… So we really dive deep into both the practical mechanics and the psychology of how Jason is able to compartmentalize his day - and his life. Jason was being pulled in 3 directions at one point: world champion training, building a fitness empire & being a good family man. Something had to give. When his daughter was diagnosed with leukemia, he made a shift in his life. World champion CrossFit training had to be the thing that made way. Testing times with his daughter in hospital helped Jason strengthen his resolve and double down on the things that really mattered to him in life. We go on an interesting tangent, talking about preparing for the worst case scenario. For the gym rats among you, we also discuss some optimal workouts and exercises at the top of the show. A great all-around podcast today and something for everyone! Listen to the Podcast below to enjoy the full interview with Jason Khalipa: Check Out More of Jason’s Content Here

The Elite Advisor Blueprint®: A Podcast for Financial Advisors
On today’s podcast, I’m talking to Jason Khalipa - Jason was crowned the Fittest Man on Earth in 2008 and is regarded as one of the most accomplished athletes in CrossFit Games history. He’s the Founder of NCFIT, which is a global company with thousands of participants worldwide, aimed at making fitness effective, fun, and accessible. He’s also the author of "As Many Reps as Possible" where he reveals simple principles to take control of your life and harness your true potential. Jason and I first crossed paths last year at Jayson Gaignard’s Mastermind Talks event and after a few morning workouts with him, it not only became clear how he became an elite CrossFit athlete, but also how he’s taken that and applied it to becoming an incredible coach and entrepreneur. I’m honored to have him on the show and share with you all just how much financial services and fitness have in common and how to incorporate the mindset of a world-class athlete into your own business! Here are just a few highlights of what we get into: How you can take your clients from financially unfit to fit - and why having a proprietary process is absolutely vital to building and scaling a successful practice. How to hold your team accountable - and how Jason reacted when a mentor told him he had a hobby, but not a business - this is a critical lesson for every financial advisor to hear. The story of his daughter’s battle with leukemia and why scaling his business gave him the power to take a vital step back during a critical moment in his life. We are kicking off this season with one of the best and most beloved CrossFit Games athletes of all time. Jason Khalipa has competed in the CrossFit Games on 8 separate occasions - as an individual for 7 consecutive years, and wrapping up an 8th year as a team competitor. Throughout his CrossFit Games career, Jason has only placed outside the Top 10 once, has won every Regional competition he has participated in, and he won the Spirit of the Games award in 2009. Not only has Jason held all podium positions at the world championships, but he was also named to Team USA 3 times. Jason opened his gym in 2008 after winning 1st place in his first CrossFit Games appearance and 11 years later has expanded to over 20 locations. Jason and his wife Ashley live in Los Gatos with their 2 children Kaden and Ava. Ava’s 2016 leukemia diagnosis has led them into a life of philanthropy with the intention of supporting other families faced with the same adversity. For more info on Jason, check out his website and podcast here, follow him on Instagram, and definitely learn more about the Khalipa’s non-profit, Ava’s Kitchen. I was stoked recently to sit down with Jason Khalipa, 2008 CrossFit Games champion, founder of NCFIT, and author of The AMRAP Mentality and a new book, As Many Reps As Possible. Throughout his 8-year CrossFit Games career, Jason has only placed outside the Top 10 once, has won every regional competition he has participated in, and won the Spirit of the Games award in 2009. Now obviously Jason is the epitome of Mental Toughness, but how he got there is perhaps a different path than most. As an elite CrossFit Games athlete, Jason had to develop both physical and mental toughness at an unbelievable level to be able to compete in – and win – what is considered one of the most grueling physical contests in the world. So what is his advice? You will have to listen to find out!
Jason is a former CrossFit Games world champion and the author the incredible new book As Many Reps As Possible. Jason is also one of the most accomplished athletes in CrossFit Games history. In 2008, he was crowned the Fittest Man on Earth and has earned other top finishes across the board. In today’s episode, we talked about everything from winning the Crossfit Games in 2008 and how he ate/trained for his physical peak in 2014 to the AMRAP mentality the perspective changes he had after his daughters battle with leukemia (they celebrated 1 year out of treatment last week). I hope you enjoy today's podcast with one of Crossfit’s most decorated athletes and someone I’ve been dying to have on the podcast since I launched it in 2016. Those of you in the CrossFit world have heard the acronym AMRAP. It stands for As Many Reps As Possible. So, for example in a workout, you could be given 10 minutes to complete as many reps as possible of 10 air squats, 10 double-unders (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-tF3hUsPZAI), and 10 push-ups. You set the clock, go, and see how much you can push yourself to get things done. Today on the podcast, we dive into the AMRAP Mentality by Jason Khalipa by discussing his newly released book, As Many Reps As Possible (https://www.amazon.com/As-Many-Reps-as-Possible-ebook/dp/B07MHSQ8XP/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1549565369&sr=8-1&keywords=amrap+mentality+jason+khalipa). Using the framework of an AMRAP, Jason has sought to extract as much as possible from the time he has in each day, and he encourages his readers to do the same. We discuss the AMRAP framework, specifically covering: Discovering and clearly knowing your why Focusing only on what you can control Working Hard Effectively shifting gears After action reviews Join us for the discussion and see how you can apply the AMRAP Mentality in and out of the gym.
We continue our focus on health this month by talking about Exercise. This is a great episode, especially if you set goals for yourself in 2019 to “be more healthy.” We talk about : Why the goal “I want to get in shape” won't get you anywhere Focusing on moving your body, not what you look like How to make exercise attractive How to find a support group/accountability partner for your fitness goals Breaking down big lofty goals (like running a race) into tiny achievable habits Using the power of the Ideal Week and non-negotiables to stick to you goals Our next book is As Many Reps As Possible by Jason Khalipa (https://www.amazon.com/As-Many-Reps-as-Possible-ebook/dp/B07MHSQ8XP/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1549565369&sr=8-1&keywords=amrap+mentality+jason+khalipa).
In today’s episode Carl sits down with Jason Khalipa - The CrossFit Games champion and the Founder and Owner of NCFit. Jason shares how he started his athletic career by riding BMX and later transitioning into Football where he found Strength & Conditioning and a love for Fitness as he worked the front desk at a local gym. It was through fitness where he started practicing CrossFit which led Jason to taking the tile of the Fittest Man On Earth by winning the 2008 CrossFit Games. While pursuing his career as a professional athlete, Jason decided to simultaneously take his job in the fitness industry to the next level by opening his own gym. A gym that has now grown to over 20 locations around the world. As Jason juggled being a professional athlete and operating a rapidly growing business, a wrench was thrown into his life when his daughter was suddenly diagnosed with Leukemia. It was at this moment when Fitness helped him navigate this scary period of time in his life, which he did through what he has now coined the AMRAP Mentality - A mindset in which one remains focused, shuts out the noise, commits to hard work, and ads a touch of competitive energy to achieve the desired results. In Jason’s case, the results he was looking for were to remain solution conscious, create a safe environment for his daughter to heal, while making sure that he stayed connected to his family and on top of helping his business thrive. Jason has now written a book with the title As Many Reps As Possible and subtitled “ Succeeding in competition, business, and life by making the most of every single minute”, where Jason talks about how you too can develop the AMRAP Mentality which has allowed him to find freedom and success in his life. Jason's book is now available on Amazon and where a portion of the proceeds will be donated to support children and their families battling pediatric cancer. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/carlpaoli/message Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/carlpaoli/support

This month on the podcast, we will be focusing on Health - both physical fitness and nutrition. So we're starting the month off by focusing on nutrition, and since we both just read James Clear's Atomic Habits, we thought diving in and discussing habits for nutrition was the perfect next step. This is a great episode, especially if you set goals for yourself in 2019 to “be more healthy”. We talk about : Clarifying your goal so that it's actionable How to habit stack a new healthy eating goal How to design your environment to set yourself up for success Why you should start with a tiny change Ramping up your Successes Meal Planning Where and how to get support (from your partner or elsewhere) We've been getting some super great questions about the #familyhqcalendar, so we took a few moments to do a little Q&A about our family hub, and also why the Family HQ supports us as a family in our nutrition goals. Our next book is As Many Reps As Possible by Jason Khalipa (https://www.amazon.com/As-Many-Reps-as-Possible-ebook/dp/B07MHSQ8XP/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1549565369&sr=8-1&keywords=amrap+mentality+jason+khalipa). Jason Khalipa (@JasonKhalipa) is a CrossFit Games world champion, the founder of NCFIT, and author of As Many Reps As Possible. What We Discuss with Jason Khalipa: You don't have to start out with "The Right Stuff" to accomplish great things. Is your confidence earned or perceived?
