Aztech Forgotten Gods is a mess. There are glimpses of quality there--the movement is fun and some of the art is alright--but it's all sandwiched between two thick pieces of janky, ugly, buggy, and surprisingly talky bread. I wanted to enjoy Aztech Forgotten Gods so much, but when it looks worse than Jak & Daxter, is boring to play 90% of the time, and features objectives that involve nothing but talking to characters, only to follow said objectives with more objectives of talking to the same character, it makes it hard to feel anything other than disappointment. Some things could be fixed in future patches, but too much of the core design is bad and, because of that, there's no way I could ever recommend giving Aztech Forgotten Gods any of your time.

Triangle Strategy Impressions This week on the NXpress Nintendo Podcast, Cameron Daxon, Marc Kaliroff, and Campbell Gill share their thoughts on some of the biggest recent Switch releases and look ahead to the inevitable Game of the Year. Cameron and Marc kick things off by sharing their early impressions of Triangle Strategy, the latest brilliantly named HD-2D experience from Square Enix. The question soon arises: is Triangle Strategy poised to be the long-awaited spiritual successor to Final Fantasy Tactics, or is it more like the Silmarillion of the strategy genre? Its extraordinarily slow pace and exposition-heavy dialogue might make the hosts' eyelids heavy, but they hold out hope for it to pick up the tension later in the campaign. The show takes a detour to a therapy session as Campbell airs his grievances about the extraordinarily disappointing action game, Aztech Forgotten Gods. This game might have demonstrated so much potential back in its early announcement trailers, but the finished product squanders all its ambition through a dreary open world, rough combat system, and an excruciatingly heavy-handed narrative. And that's not mentioning how hideous it is on Switch–take a look at the screenshot at the bottom of this post to see the horrors for yourself, although we take no responsibility for any trauma that may ensue. With great indie announcements like Aztech: Forgotten Gods and a Dead by Daylight collaboration with Resident Evil! Also, Jesse finally after many years plays Asura's Wrath! What did he think? On this episode of Video Games 2 the MAX hosts Sean Garmer and Marc Morrison discuss the games they are playing such as Marc finally trying out Yakuza: Like a Dragon and Taiko No Tatsujin, although he got some bad news about his drums. Sean also played Another Eden a mobile JRPG that was put on Steam and how he’s so glad his PC has a touch screen. The NPD numbers from March 2021 are also out too, Sony being the fastest-selling console ever, Monster Hunter Rise and Outriders selling well, and more. They also discuss the games they are excited about from the Nintendo Indie World Showcase. Sean is happy about seeing more from Last Stop, There is No Game: Wrong Dimension hitting the Switch, more on Cris Tales, and the big announcement of Oxenfree 2. While Marc liked Never Yield and Aztech Forgotten Gods. Marc is also a bit befuddled by Konami’s latest indie title Getsufumaden and this leads to a discussion on a rumor flying around that Microsoft may have purchased the rights to Konami franchises. If it is even real, what could be the result of this? Plus, a big rumor started suddenly that was quickly and thankfully squashed by the company itself regarding Square-Enix having interested suitors, although the company has no interest in selling at all. The guys talk about what this would mean and how it would not be good for gaming.
