This week for John and Tammy's Hometown AMCs, we want to talk about the Best Place to Clean Your Car After Your Kids Smashes Their Goldfish Crackers Everywhere! This is that car wash that comes in clutch when you haven't washed it in forever and just need to get everything in looking like you're at least a little put together. Because a clean car runs better... at least that's what our dad told us...
Jon Summers is the Motoring Historian. He was a company car thrashing technology sales rep that turned into a fairly inept sports bike rider. On his show he gets together with various co-hosts to talk about new and old cars, driving, motorbikes, motor racing, motoring travel. In this episode, Jon provides his insights on the latest vehicles in the 'Best of the Bay' road test series. He discusses and compares three standout cars: the 2025 Toyota Camry XSE, the full-size Range Rover, and the Lucid. The Camry is highlighted for its exceptional combination of performance and value, with characteristics comparable to a Lexus. The Range Rover impresses with its luxurious leather interior and commanding presence, though it is costly. The Lucid, despite being the most technologically advanced car tested and priced at double the Camry, stands out for its futuristic design and performance, making an impression on both Jon and a passerby during the review. John concludes with endorsements for the vehicles based on different consumer preferences. ==================== The Donnas - Take It Off “Camry Gonna Camry” - a bit better than you expect, in every respect: price, performance, look and feel inside and outside Full Fat Range Rover; the double whammy of the look and smell of the leather so memorable. What makes a vehicle truly family-friendly? Is it just about having enough cupholders and space for car seats, or is there something more to consider when shopping for your family's next ride? Alex Kwanton from U.S. News & World Report joins us to reveal the results of their comprehensive "Best Cars for Families 2025" research, which evaluated over 100 vehicles across nine different classes. The conversation dives deep into what features actually matter for families, from the obvious (passenger and cargo space) to the overlooked (teen driver controls, surround-view cameras, and rear seat reminders). We explore both established winners like the six-time champion Kia Telluride and newcomers like the Kia EV9, which offers three-row electric versatility at a more accessible price point than its $80,000+ competitors. Some of the findings might surprise you. Did you know the compact Hyundai Tucson offers just 0.8 inches less rear legroom than a full-size Chevrolet Tahoe? Or that the Honda Accord's backseat rivals luxury sedans costing twice as much? From practical minivans to spacious SUVs and efficient sedans, we cover the vehicles that excel at making family transportation easier, safer, and more convenient.Whether you're planning summer road trips or juggling daily school runs, this episode provides invaluable insights into which vehicles deserve your consideration. We also touch on the time-saving benefits of electric vehicles for busy parents and discuss how family needs should shape your next vehicle purchase. Oscar Piastri has his first win on the board after dominating the Chinese Grand Prix last weekend with a pole-to-flag victory. Lando Norris was second and George Russell third. But the Saturday sprint race was all about Ferrari and Lewis Hamilton, who scored his first win for the Scuderia. Not to feel alone, teammate Charles Leclerc was also rubbed our for being underweight, as was Pierre Gasly in an Alpine. Anyway, Andrew, Bruce and Melinda pull the race apart. We've got all the NASCAR, Rally and IndyCar news, and the bombshell departure of Shane Howard from the CEO's office at Supercars. Shoot us a Text. We're rolling into the big conversations at the 2025 Public Policy Day, where industry leaders and lawmakers shape the future of auto. Plus, CVS is testing a new app feature to unlock products, and Tesla inches toward unsupervised self-driving—though Elon says don't get too excited just yet. The event closes with Michael Cottone (Volvo) and John Bozzella (Alliance for Automotive Innovation). The day concludes with an exclusive Sneak Peek Reception of the Auto Show, presented by Events DC.Elon Musk recently announced that Tesla has initiated "unsupervised self-driving" at its Fremont factory. However, this development is currently limited to vehicles autonomously navigating within the factory premises.Tesla released a video showing cars driving themselves from the production line to loading docks without human intervention. This internal application covers a 1.2-mile route on private factory roads at low speeds.Musk has previously set ambitious timelines for unsupervised self-driving, including a driverless cross-country trip by 2018, which have not been met.The current implementation is a step forward but remains far from the full autonomous driving capabilities promised to consumers.Musk's latest projection targets unsupervised self-driving in California and Texas by the second quarter of 2025.CVS is piloting a new feature in its app that allows customers to unlock anti-theft cabinets themselves, aiming to enhance the shopping experience. The feature is currently being tested in three New York City stores. To use it, customers must be logged into the CVS app, connected to the store's Wi-Fi, and have Bluetooth enabled. This initiative addresses customer frustration with locked cabinets, which, while deterring theft, often inconvenience shoppers.CVS plans to expand the test to 10 to 15 additional stores, including locations on the West Coast."People really, really dislike locked cabinets," said Tilak Mandadi, executive vice president at CVS Health.Hosts: Paul J Daly and Kyle MountsierGet the Daily Push Back email at https://www.asotu.com/ JOIN the conversation on LinkedIn at: https://www.linkedin.com/company/asotu/ Read our most recent email at: https://www.asotu.com/media/push-back-email

This week, the Carmudgeons recap their recent 600-mile back-road blast, which resulted in a surprise Best Car for the Mission. Unrelated, an update on their newly-acquired V-12 cars. === This episode is sponsored by Vyper Industrial — America's #1 rated shop chair, tool carts, and creepers, proudly made here in the US. Click here to join the Hagerty Driver's Club: https://bit.ly/Join-HDC-Cammisa-Rev === Jason and Derek now both own V-12-powered cars. Jason confesses his 850 CSI purchase, which happened while he was doing research for an upcoming Revelations episode. Derek lit his on fire while learning that it needs an engine rebuild. Turns out the BMW 850CSi has the shortest gear ratios of any V-12 car ever sold — and Jason is a self-described whore for short gearing. Meanwhile, Derek bought a V12, manual Ferrari that has no compression in several cylinders. The main subject of the episode is one of Jason and Derek's many friend-group backroad trips in Northern California. As usual, it was a varied group of cars: Jason brought "Beatrice," his E30 BMW 325i sedan. Derek brought his race-prepped Mk5 Volkswagen GTI. Also present was a BMW Z3 2.8, an NA Miata, a GR Corolla, and one car that was very much not appropriate for tight mountain roads: A C126 Mercedes 560SEC. And the Mercedes was, by far, everyone's favorite. Wildly obese and far too large, with non-performance tires, the W126-chassis Mercedes should have been miserable. And what it instead demonstrated was perfect chassis balance, an indefatigable, 300-hp Euro/Japan-spec 5.5-liter engine, and a riotous time. Sometimes, it's the wrong car on the right road that's the most fun. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices
