Hoe blijven we omgaan met dit nieuws waarvan we niet weten wat het doel is van Rusland? Dan: het verrassingsbezoek van de Oekraïense president Zelenski. Na een bezoek aan Finland werd hij door het Nederlandse regeringsvliegtuig naar Schiphol gevlogen en zojuist heeft hij al een toespraak gehouden voor de Eerste en Tweede Kamer. They say that a 2 goal lead is a dangerous lead and it certainly turned out to be here, however despite letting that lead slip away along with 2 points there were some positives here in terms of impact from newly acquired players. Here we hear the first part of the reactions and whilst some call for Bilic's head, many others think this is the time to calm the ship rather than jettison yet another manager.Carl calls in whilst Jason has an altercation with another driver in the Reading car park, we ask about missing out on a midfield general on the last day of the window, Greg is stuck in the Reading car park still and fears he'll be late to take Mrs Wendover out (for once we didn't all get to vote on what they should order) and Mal is at home to celebrate Mrs W's birthday. Hoe lang kan dit nog zo doorgaan?  Verder klopt de krantenkop van De Telegraaf vandaag: ‘Paul Jansen stopt per 1 juni als hoofdredacteur van De Telegraaf en wordt correspondent in de Verenigde Staten'. We kijken ook even naar de toekomst en waar een nieuwe hoofdredacteur aan moet voldoen. Bilic: ‘Wat belangrijk is dat je koersvast blijft.' Wie is een geschikte kandidaat?  Tot slot ging het ook nog even over Dr. Phil. Na 20 jaar stopt hij ermee. Sylvester: ‘Hij is voor veel mens een uitlaatklep geweest'.

Hoe urgent is dit probleem? En staan dit soort technische verhalen te ver af van mensen? Brandsma haar mediamoment gaat over de Mariupol the people story, een documentaire die gisteren is uitgezonden. De slag om de stad hebben we heel strak gevolgd destijds. Geeft deze documentaire dan nog een ander beeld?  Uit een Europees onderzoek naar complottheorieën blijkt dat een op de vijf Nederlanders denkt dat een kleine, geheime groep mensen stiekem alle belangrijke beslissingen in de wereldpolitiek neemt. Nog eens een vijfde twijfelt: ze zijn het met zo'n stelling niet eens, maar ook niet oneens. Moeten we in de journalistiek meer laten zien hoe kennis tot stand komt?  En we hebben het ook nog over Gert-Jan Segers. Hij stopt namelijk als Kamerlid en fractievoorzitter maakte hij vandaag bekend. We laten ook zijn eerste reactie in Den Haag horen. Wat vinden de mediaforum leden van de timing van zijn vertrek?  We eindigen met het Taalteam met Eveline van Rijswijk. 

Aan tafel zitten Sjirk Kuijper, Aylin Bilic en Spraakmaker Pieter Klok Kuijpers Mediamoment is een opiniestuk van Sander van 't Sas: 'Help, de journalistiek verzuipt bij de NPO'. Hij betoogt daarin dat de journalistieke kwaliteit onder druk staat bij de publieke omroep als gevolg van de seizoens-contracten bij omroepen en dat dit zelfs de journalistieke onafhankelijkheid van binnenuit ondermijnt. Ervaart Kuijper dit bij het ND.  Het Mediamoment van Bilic gaat over Elon Musk en hoe hij Twitter leidt. Overal wordt het opgepakt, maar is dat ook terecht? Besteedt de journalistiek er te veel aandacht aan? Of is Twitter te belangrijk om te negeren? Rutte maakte gisteren de langverwachte excuses voor het slavernijverleden van Nederland. Zijn er na alle controverse in de aanloop hiernaar toe oprechte excuses gemaakt en aanvaard? De ontvangst ging van kippenvel tot staande ovaties tot kritiek. Hoe moeilijk is het om een gebalanceerd beeld van de reacties te schetsen? En was er teveel aandacht voor de criticasters? Kuijper: "Ik hoop dat zulke ontmoetingen veel meer plaatsvinden" Het vertrouwen van Nederlanders in 'het nieuws' is dit jaar gedaald, zo blijkt uit een representatieve steekproef van Motivaction. 12 procent van de mensen is 'structurele nieuwstwijfelaar' en vertrouwt dus niet, of niet helemaal, wat Nederlandse nieuwsmedia vertellen. Vorig jaar was dit nog 9 procent. Waar komt dit vandaan? Wat opvalt is dat jongeren (18-24) minder waarde hechten aan onafhankelijke journalisten.  En tot slot: veel nieuwsmedia pikten het nieuws over schaatsster Jutta Leerdam op. Zij sprak zich uit over haar menstruatieklachten. Maakt ze het zo goed bespreekbaar? Bilic vindt het maar niet terwijl Kuijper het een mooie doorbraak vindt... Kuijper: "Ik werd er haast sentimenteel van"

De krant heeft volgens de Raad voor de Journalistiek onzorgvuldig bericht over het boek 'Het verraad van Anne Frank', waarin een onderzoeksteam stelt dat de vermoedelijke verrader van de familie Frank een joodse notaris was. Na publicatie werd het onderzoek door deskundigen onderuitgehaald. Hoe kwam het dat NRC hier onjuist over berichtte?

What a strange night!! After the euphoria of Sunday away at Stoke, the Swans under Russell Martin present a very different challenge. Superbly skippered by Matt Grimes who was previously linked with us a couple of seasons ago (in fairness who HASN'T been linked with us at some stage) the Swans were everything that we weren't in the second half - imaginative, hardworking but also quick and simple and free of the stress and anxiety that seemed to the plague the Hornets. We kunnen er nog weinig over zeggen maar er zijn veel zorgen. Wat zijn de implicaties? En wat is de mening over de reactie van Von der Leyen? Bilic: "Energienetwerken als doelwit, dat is best een spannend domein" Een opmerkelijke uitspraak van André Seebregts advocaat Youssef Taghi, de neef van Ridouan Taghi. Hij was één van de meest succesvolle tv-sterren, maar is diep gevallen na zijn veroordeling vanwege seksueel geweld. Wat heeft Bilic met hem? Is zijn werk nu met terugwerkende kracht iets om niet te bekijken? Zessens Mediamoment gaat over het filmpje dat gisteren opdook waarop te zien is dat twee politie-agenten in Hengelo een ogenschijnlijk bewusteloze arrestant uit hun auto halen en op straat leggen. Is de associatie met George Floyd terecht? En waarom reageert de politie nauwelijks op deze video? Moet de media hier al over berichten ondanks dat we niet alle feiten weten? Zessen: "Volg het als journalistiek" Dan gaan we naar Rusland. Want wie zit er nu achter de aanslag op de dochter van de ultranationalistische Kremlin-ideoloog? Die vraag hield de media gisteren flink bezig. Hoe gaan journalisten naar de waarheid op zoek? En hoe volgen de Mediaforumleden dit verhaal?  Bilic: "Het is redelijk dicht bij Poetin wat hier nu gebeurt" Het ontbreekt vrouwen nog veel te vaak aan zelfvertrouwen om te gast te zijn in talkshows. En dat moet veranderen, schrijft voormalig Op1-redacteur Floor Doppen vandaag in een opiniestuk in de Volkskrant. Het moet afgelopen zijn met de zelfvertrouwenskloof, zegt ze. Is er herkenning voor die zelfvertrouwenskloof? En is er een oplossing voor handen? Bilic: "Ik ben zeer terughoudend voor avondprogramma's"

Hem viel op dat Uber gisteren uitstel kreeg van de rechter en daarom nu de cao nog niet hoeft na te leven en ook nog geen dwangsom hoeft te betalen. Arbeidswetgeving is belangrijk, maar ook niet echt het meest sexy onderwerp om over te berichten. Had de media dit onderwerp toch beter moeten volgen? En wat doet dit met het beeld dat mensen hebben van Uber?  Het mediamoment van Bilic gaat over de hitte van gisteren. Want naast de enorme branden in Londen op de heetste dag ooit in het Verenigd Koninkrijk, viel haar ook het twittergedrag van mensen op. Waarom is twitter bij uitstek het medium om bepaalde onderwerpen te politiseren? En in hoeverre moet je je daartegen afzetten? Verder gaat het over de ontmoeting die president Poetin gisteren in Teheran had met de Iraanse en Turkse leiders Raisi en Erdogan. Poetin noemt de top succesvol en zegt vooruitgang te hebben geboekt over Oekraïens graan. Hadden de media meer aandacht moeten besteden aan deze top? En er was ook nog een heel ongemakkelijk filmpje van Erdogan die Poetin zeker 50 seconden laat wachten. Wat heeft zo'n filmpje voor impact op de onderhandelingen?  Ook gaat het over de apenpokken. NU.nl berichtte eerder deze week 'Stigmatisering homomannen door apenpokken: hoe kunnen media dit voorkomen? En Roel Couthino zei onlangs tegen Nieuwsuur dat de Pride in Amsterdam dit jaar beter geannuleerd kan worden in verband met apenpokken. Werkt de grote hoeveelheid aan verschillende media de stigmatisering in de hand? En wat zouden de media moeten leren van de berichtgeving over de aidsepidemie?  Tot slot geven de leden van het Mediaforum iedere dag nog een tip om de zomer goed door te komen. Denk aan een mooie tv-serie, een spannende podcast of een goed boek. Vandaag hebben zowel Muntz als Bilic een interessant boek meegebracht.

Bilic vindt het belangrijk dat Nederlandse media hierover berichten en dat vooral ook blijven doen. Het mediamoment van Slagter gaat over" impertinente" vragen aan onze kroonprinses en dan vooral ook hoe haar vader, onze koning daar op reageerde. Tijdens de fotosessie vroeg Jeroen Snel naar haar liefdesleven. Wat vond Slagter van de reactie van de koning? Het was de week van de boeren en als we de laatste berichten moeten geloven gaan de trekkers ook vandaag weer rijden. Hoe zien we de boer? Is het de  hardwerkende agrariër of een vervuilende grootgrondbezitter? Farmers Defence Force secretaris Sieta van Keimpema zegt in De Telegraaf dat er een beeld wordt geschetst dat de boeren allemaal grootgrondbezitters zijn die geen menselijke emoties hebben. Heite: “De media zijn ontzettend belangrijk om alle kanten van dat verhaal rond de boeren te laten zien”. Hoe wordt de boer neergezet door de verschillende media? En is dat divers genoeg? Dan hebben we het over "scherp stellen". Het nieuwe NPO-beleidsplan voor de journalistiek. NRC citeert vanmorgen uit dit plan: "Om een veelkleurige, relevant en waardevolle aanbodmix te presenteren zullen omroepen op punten moeten ontdubbelen en in lacunes gaan voorzien". Slagter legt uit wat er in dit plan verder omschreven staat. Is het moeilijk voor mediaconsumenten om onderscheid te maken tussen de verschillende omroepen en genres? We besluiten het Mediaforum met het Taalteam met Frank van Pamelen.
