Host Pat Fitzmaurice (@Fitz_FF) opens the show by discussing last week’s cancelation of Bobby Sylvester and why he won’t unfollow Bobby on Twitter. Then, Shawn Siegele of RotoViz jumps in to talk about his Chiefs winning the Super Bowl and to assess the fantasy value of Clyde Edwards-Helaire and Mecole Hardman. As the architect of the much-debated Zero RB strategy, Shawn lists a few of his favorite Zero RB targets for 2020. Shawn and Pat shift gears for a few minutes to talk tennis, since Shawn was a Division 2 college tennis player. Shawn talks about why he’s high on DeAndre Hopkins for 2020, even though this wouldn’t seem to be a great year to be a team changer. Shawn also explains his enthusiasm for D.J. Chark and Tyler Boyd, why he and some notable RotoViz alumni are bullish on Jaguars rookie Laviska Shenault, and why Zach Ertz and T.J. Hockenson are two of his favorite TE targets. Nick Guarisco (@FantasyLawGuy) unapologetically expresses his harsh opinion on Bobby Sylvester and whether he deserved to be fired by FantasyPros.com. A strong message is delivered to those who defend or even attempt to normalize his actions. Nick is disgusted by the state of society but is proud of the Fantasy Football Community of Experts for taking a stand and empowering women in this industry. Derrius Guice’s release and Washington’s backfield is broken down. Should we be reaching for popular sleeper, Antonio Gibson? A ton of training camp news is covered, including bits about David Montgomery, Christian Kirk, Jonathan Taylor, Mark Ingram, Matt Breida, Jerick McKinnon and A.J. Green. Nick takes on two Insta Questions: Where would he take Lamar Jackson and Pat Mahomes in drafts, and how does he feel about stacking or combining players from the same teams in season-long leagues? Lastly, the “Fantasy Nugget” of today’s show concerns David Johnson. To support the Fantasy Law Guy Podcast, please SUBSCRIBE and give this podcast a 5-STAR RATING on your preferred podcast provider. After a wild week of NFL action, host Pat Fitzmaurice (@Fitz_FF) opens the show by bringing in producer Colm Kelly (@OvertimeIreland) so that the two Packers fans can discuss the bizarre 29-29 tie with the Vikings in Week 2. They also look at the long-term outlook for Jimmy Graham and analyze the Green Bay RB situation. Pat is then joined by Bobby Sylvester (@bobbyfantasypro) of FantasyPros.com, who throws a splash of cold water on Patrick Mahomes mania and offers a few thoughts on Sammy Watkins’ fantasy value. Pat and Bobby also discuss Alex Smith’s season-long outlook after a disappointing game against the Colts, and the value of Adrian Peterson. Bobby talks about his podcast partnership with Mike Tagliere, criticism of FantasyPros.com, how he managed to run a sub-4.7-second time in the 40-yard dash after losing a bet to Tagliere (hint: it has something to do with jorts), and his career as a high school athlete. Pat and Bobby then circle back to fantasy football, touching on Saquon Barkley, the Minnesota receivers, Keelan Cole, Matt Breida, Quincy Enunwa and more. We're back with our early season review of rankings at each position and in this episode, host Bobby Sylvester is joined by Jamie Calandro of Fantasy Team Advice to tackle starting pitchers. They go tier-by-tier beginning with Clayton Kershaw (6:53), who is in a league of his own, followed by guys further down the list in Rick Porcello and Michael Fulmer (21:04). There is no shortage of players covered, and you'll also get Bobby and Jamie's analysis on who they expect to perform, and who they expect to fall flat.
Who doesn't love to talk about fantasy baseball prospects? In this episode, Bobby Sylvester is joined by Mike Rosenbaum of MLB Pipeline to discuss all up and comers for the season. Starting with a few impact bats, they're looking at the fantasy value of Andrew Benintendi (2:03), Dansby Swanson (3:06), Yoan Moncada (6:13), Yulieski Gurriel (7:07), Aaron Judge (10:40), Manuel Margot (11:58), Ozzie Albies (12:18) and a couple power hitters in Dan Vogelbach (13:35) and Peter O'Brien (15:03). There are plenty more names including the likes of Franklin Barreto (15:31) and Austin Meadows (17:00) before switching over to the pitching prospects. It wouldn't be a discussion if the future aces weren't talked about - Alex Reyes (25:00), Tyler Glasnow (26:52), Jose De Leon (28:49) and Lucas Giolito (30:02). Like the hitters, there are no shortage of pitchers that are covered with Brent Honeywell leading the conversation (35:14), followed by Robert Stephenson (36:18), and Josh Hader (37:51). Be sure to listen all the way through as Bobby and Mike discuss a few names that are a ways off, but could develop into top 5 prospects down the line.
We're here with our first ever playoff podcast and Justin MacMahan of Daily Fantasy Insider joins host, Bobby Sylvester to break down the four matchups this weekend. Not all the matchups are pretty, and in some cases, they're downright ugly, but we're covering all the big names starting with the G-Men visiting Green Bay (3:56) as the two talk about Paul Perkins (5:07), Aaron Rodgers (7:46), Eli Manning (8:23), Odell Beckham (9:59), Jordy Nelson (11:28), Ty Montgomery (14:17) as well as a few smaller names in Aaron Ripkowski (5:51), Sterling Shepard (13:15) and Geronimo Allison (13:39). Then it's arguably the worst playoff matchup of the season with the Raiders and Texans facing off (15:05). While there aren't many appealing plays, hear what Bobby and Justin have to say about Latavius Murray (18:26), Lamar Miller (19:22), DeAndre Hopkins (21:00) and the two Raiders receivers (21:13). The Lions will head to Seattle in a great matchup and you'll want to hear about why Doug Baldwin (24:17), Golden Tate (27:56), and Anquan Boldin (28:19) could all be solid plays. To close the show, the Steelers should rack up points against the Dolphins (32:51) and it'd be foolish to not have any Steelers in your lineup, namely Antonio Brown (34:04) and Le'Veon Bell (34:44).
The Week 17 DFS show features Doug Norrie of DSFR.com and host, Bobby Sylvester. The pair starts with quarterbacks (2:46) and are both big believers in Aaron Rodgers and Russell Wilson this week. Then they move on to running backs (14:46) where they discuss the controversial Pittsburgh backfield situation and whether it makes sense to fade David Johnson. When they chat about wide receivers (30:18) Jordy Nelson is an easy piece to agree on and both Doug and Bobby have cheap wide receivers they are excited about. They close out the show by talking about tight ends (41:05), defense (43:34) and stacks for the main slate (45:22)
Joe Dolan of FantasyGuru.com joins host Bobby Sylvester to hand out fantasy awards for season-long leagues position by position. The pair discusses quarterbacks at 5:09, running backs at 10:48, wide receivers at 14:24, tight ends at 20:55 and finally defenses at 23:47 before handing out league-wide awards (25:03) including the best quarterback to target for the season and the most disappointing fantasy player.
