SummaryOn this episode of The Most Accurate Podcast, Nick Whalen joins Greg to weigh in on the key storylines entering the 2020 NFL Combine. They begin by discussing news around a few prominent veterans and the impending free agent quarterback carousel, then dive into the combine and 2020 rookie class. Nick outlines the most important aspects of the combine relative to his film based analysis before digging in deeper to the nuances of that process of grinding tape. How much of a difference does one year of age make? How much value should fantasy owners assign to pass-catching ability from running backs? How important are special teams contributions? How does one stay objective in the face of the variability of schemes, supporting casts, strengths of schedule, etc. in the college game? How can we sniff out and avoid "combine warriors?" Tune in for a glimpse into the mind of Mr. Whalen, and stick around for his top-12 rookie rankings leading into next week's underwear olympics. Today we’re going to take a look inside the Indianapolis Colts training camp thus far through 9 practices. We’ll dig in to the standouts and disappointments from both sides of the ball up to this point, who resides on the bubble and who is either on the 53 right now — by my estimation — or who is off the roster. We’ll take a look at the Colts initial depth chart and discuss who deserves their vote of confidence and who may be getting a message sent to them from the coaching staff. Some names that you may not have heard quite yet are Steve Ishmael, K.J. Brent, Zach Pascal, Robert Jackson. Here you're going to find out why you'll want to begin to pay attention to them. Some other names you've definitely heard before are Ryan Grant, Kenny Moore, Christine Michael, Tarell Basham, Quincy Wilson, Brad Kaaya and Jabaal Sheard. We're going to talk about them too, and it won't be for the same reasons. We also go through the Colts latest news (from the past several days) and discuss how two situations in particular are putting one position in limbo for the next few weeks and maybe longer. We also talk about the significance of Malik Hooker and Clayton Geathers coming back, and what their road to a full practice and then a game will look like. Learn more about your ad choices. The running backs and tight ends for the Indianapolis Colts couldn’t be looked at more differently heading into the 2018 NFL season. The backfield looks to be almost completely composed of pieces with very little NFL experience while the tight ends have some established leadership from multiple veteran presences at the position, and have a nice mix of skill sets as well. Many are excited about both positions, recognizing that if the potential can be realized from both units, the offense could be quite a show this year. Jack Doyle and Eric Ebron will hold the most prominent roles among the tight ends, but Erik Swoope and Darrell Daniels have had some experience and adding Ross Travis to the mix makes for a very interesting training camp to see how the skill sets will mesh together. Nyheim Hines and Jordan Wilkins are adding a lot of intrigue to the Colts backfield which is currently believed to be led by second-year firecracker Marlon Mack. We don’t know yet about the future of Robert Turbin, but Christine Michael and Josh Ferguson will be in the mix this year as well. Any fan has to love the big-play ability with this group, but there are many aspects of the position that will require some real improvement in order for this year’s compilation to succeed. Nick Ferguson, Former NFL Safety, joins hosts Kordell Stewart and Brian Webber to discuss the defensive improvement this year in Atlanta, how important Christine Michael is to the Packers team and the upcoming playoff matchup between the Steelers and the Patriots.
The boys thank the football gods and Andy Reid's terrible game management that we don't have a Super Bowl 1 rematch (1:10). Then finally close the book on all Christine Michael talk (5:01).
Evan tells Josh why this week is not a positive matchup for TY Hilton, What player he's is starting everywhere this week, a potential opportunity for Christine Michael, and how Antonio Gates could be a fun pick this week. Pat explains why Kirk Cousins is QB 1 for this week, Dez Bryant's rebound week and Carson Wentz vs. the Ravens defense.
The boys are reunited and it feels so good. After back-to-back weeks off, the bromance is rekindled, although not without some tense moments. After checking their seasons records, Chris jumps into medias obsession over calling teams out for "missing" on a player, the Browns, and not believing in curses, except for the Browns (4:48). Kris shares his numerous Ryan Leaf experience, awkward (10:46). Chris talks about his two favorite things in life right now, Hawaii and Marcus Mariota's mustache (16:22). Chris is finally ready to accept a listeners challenge of not dropping any F-bombs during the show (19:57). It's finally pick time!!! Oh, wait not yet, because Chris has to gone a Geno Smith rant and comes to hate Kris for it (35:30). Then he attacks Kris again over Christine Michael for no reason and loses (47:04) Chris is just holding grudges, but somehow makes it through the rest of the picks.
If there were any questions about the health of Russell Wilson going into the matchup against the Eagles, there is no doubt about his health now as we watched him catch the first touchdown pass of his career on a throw from Doug Baldwin. With another effort of 100+ yards, Baldwin now finds himself among the top Seahawks receivers of all time. The guys talk about why Baldwin deserves to make his first Pro Bowl as one of the top receivers in the NFL. Adam and Brandan also get into the Seahawks latest injury issues and discuss whether the team let Christine Michael go too soon. Before the preview with the Bucs, the guys take a trip to Prisco's World. Apparently the sickness is beginning to spread and the population of Planet Prisco is growing, and a former Rams quarterback is parroting Pete's words when it comes to Russell Wilson. Anthony Nachreiner of Nach on Sports joins the show to talk about the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He and other Bucs fans are riding high after back-to-back wins and he lets us know what to expect with the Bucs defense that has issues in the secondary. Anthony says it could be a big day for Jimmy Graham, but also says the Seahawks may have to be concerned about the Bucs tight end as well. The guys close out the final part of the show with a discussion with the president of the Tornado Alley Sea Hawkers who is championing an effort for the Sea Hawkers clubs to join Cliff Avril in helping to build a house in Haiti. The current goal is to raise enough for one home on behalf of the club and they're halfway to the $6,500 goal. More information is up on their Facebook event page. Do better nods go to the Eagles for not even practicing correctly, and Adam goes after a phenomenon that has been sweeping social media. The father of an NFL linebacker for the Packers gets Brandan's choice for Better at Life while Adam has some positive things to say about one of his arch nemeses. iTunes | Google Play Music | Stitcher | TuneIn | Facebook | Twitter | RSS Or listen via our free Amazon app, Android app, or iOS app Call or text: 253-235-9041 Email: gohawks@seahawkerspodcast.com Support the show Get in the Flock! We've reached the halfway point of the 2016 fantasy football regular season. And for every player who has met or exceeded expectations, there's been one who disappointed. If you drafted Atlanta Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan, you're no doubt pleased that he's fantasy's top-ranked passer through six games this year. But if you pulled the trigger several rounds earlier on Russell Wilson of the Seattle Seahawks, you've been left scratching your head -- wondering why he can't even crack the top 20. At running back, David Johnson of the Arizona Cardinals and Ezekiel Elliott of the Dallas Cowboys have lived up to their first-round billing. DeMarco Murray of the Tennessee Titans and LeSean McCoy of the Buffalo Bills have been values. Christine Michael of the Seattle Sehawks has been a steal. And Eddie Lacy of the Green Bay Packers has been a hot mess. Among the wide receivers, Both Julio Jones of the Atlanta Falcons and Odell Beckham of the New York Giants experienced mini-slumps to start the year. They've broken out of theirs -- just in time for Antonio Brown of the Pittsburgh Steelers to lose his starting quarterback. It's been a crazy year, and things are only going to get wilder from here. Seahawks fans finally get what they've been expecting to see from this year's team as Seattle jumps out to a 37-3 lead against the San Francisco 49ers. Two late touchdowns by the Niners brings the final score to 37-18, but there wasn't a point in the game where the Seahawks weren't in control. From the third play of the game where Christine Michael bolted into the end zone from 41 yards out to the final touchdown catch by Doug Baldwin from the backup quarterback, the outcome of the game was never in question. The guys talk about the injury to Russell Wilson and how they feel about the idea of having him play in the game against the Jets. Does it make sense to have him sit out and be ready for the 12-game stretch of regular season opponents after the bye week? With the Jets coming off a performance where they turned over the ball eight times, it's possible Seattle can go to the east coast and pick up a win with Trevone Boykin. With Thomas Rawls out for a few more weeks the Seahawks go out and sign C.J. Spiller after he was cut from the New Orleans Saints. We'll be talking more about Spiller along with Luke Wilson's changing role in this week's bonus show. Brandan gets political in both his do better and better at life nods, while Adam shares of piece of his mind with Peyton Manning's forehead and explains why a top defensive player in the NFL is better at life. Topics include the potential return of Jamaal Charles gumming up the works in Kansas City, why bidders in the 2016 Fantasy Football Players Championship Main Event spent crazy FAAB cash on a guy who was on the street last week and if there are any startable options in the Miami and Carolina backfields in Week 3. Plus your calls, emails and tweets and more all answered on The High Stakes Fantasy Football Hour! 5p7d7rwv

With the first week of the NFL season upon us, we're covering the DFS slate for Week 1 of with Doug Norrie (@DougNorrie) of Daily Fantasy Sports Rankings. We begin with general strategy, and Doug gives us some common mistakes made by novice daily fantasy players (1:39), if taking players in later games is a viable strategy (3:26), the difference between the scoring systems on FanDuel and DraftKings and how you should approach building a lineup on each site (7:00), the difference between "cash" and "GPP" style games (9:57), the concept of "stacking" when building a lineup (12:42), and if you should feel comfortable leaving money on the table after you've built your roster (15:12). Moving on, Bobby and Doug discuss quarterbacks beginning with Dak Prescott and Carson Wentz, both of whom have been priced very low for Week 1 (18:36), which quarterback will finish with the most points at his position (22:52) and a mid-range play at quarterback that could surprise with strong first week's performance (24:09). The convo moves on to running backs, where Bobby and Doug discuss Spencer Ware and Christine Michael and their low Week 1 prices (29:16), which tailbacks could finish with the most points at their position (34:33), and if mid-tier players like Ryan Matthews and LeGarrette Blount are worth a look (36:01). Next we examine wide receivers and give our top high priced plays for the week (38:09), receivers we like in the middle tier (43:21), some bargains that could pay off (45:47) and who we think could finish with the most points at the position (48:55). We finish with tight ends where we discuss whether Rob Gronkowski or Jordan Reed are mandatory plays (51:52), who we like outside those two (53:00), and some tight ends we think could have a big day for GPP lineups.
John Halpin previews every Week 1 game with Michael Beller (SI.com). Players include Spencer Ware, Jamaal Charles, Kelvin Benjamin, Demaryius Thomas, Jameis Winston, Mike Evans, DeMarco Murray, Derrick Henry, Ryan Mathews, Gary Barnidge, Carson Wentz, Matt Forte, Coby Fleener, Melvin Gordon, Kamar Aiken, Jeremy Langford, Alshon Jeffery, Brock Osweiler, DeAndre Hopkins, Trevor Siemian, T.J. Yeldon, Christine Michael, Thomas Rawls, Dak Prescott, Dez Bryant, James White, Rob Gronkowski, Martellus Bennett, Markus Wheaton, Jesse James, Vance McDonald, Lance Kendricks, Colin Kaepernick.
Raymond Summerlin (@RMSummerlin) of Rotoworld joins the pod to discuss his Week 1 rankings versus the expert consensus. We begin with quarterbacks Raymond has ranked lower (2:44) and higher (6:39) than the consensus. Moving on, Raymond and Bobby discuss running backs they have ranked lower (10:35) and higher (14:40) compared to the ECR. Bobby and Raymond discuss Derek Henry's value heading into this season (19:32) before moving on to wide receivers they have lower (21:36) and higher (23:30) than the ECR. We answer some listener mailbag questions that involve Week 1 Star/Sit conundrums like whether you should start Mattthew Stafford or Tyrod Taylor (26:37), who is the best flex option between James White, Arian Foster and Michael Thomas (29:02), if fantasy owners should adjust their rosters based on weather (31:13), waiver wire tight ends worth adding (32:13), how to manage your last bench spot (35:03), and if Bobby's "double streaming defense" strategy is viable this season (38:25). Moving on, we have a new segment called "start/sit" where we pick two players from a group of four that we would prefer to start over the others. Starting with quarterbacks, we debate Derek Carr, Phillip Rivers, Jameis Winston and Blake Bortles (41:56). Running backs include Ameer Abdullah, Matt Jones, Christine Michael and Justin Forsett (45:52), and we finish with a wide receiver group of Will Fuller, Vincent Jackson, Kelvin Benjamin and Stefon Diggs (48:32). We finish by giving our predictions for who could finish with the most fantasy points at their position for Week 1 (51:31).
It's the first loss of the season as the Seahawks fall 18-11 to the Vikings. Despite a late interception that allowed the go ahead touchdown for the Vikings, Trevone Boykin had another exciting outing and once again nearly brought the team back at the end of the game. Adam and Brandan talk about what they saw with the first team offense as Christine Michael continues to impress. Russell Wilson had an impressive dime that he dropped right to Tyler Lockett. Not so impressive was the Seahawks pass rush or the ability to cover tight ends. It's another trip to Prisco's World this week as Pete continues to throw around the "good, not great" quote when speaking about Russell Wilson. But who are some of the other names that Prisco has attached that phrase to? It sounds like Wilson might be in some impressive company when you look at other players Prisco has dropped into that category. Sam Smith of the Military Sea Hawkers joins the show to talk about the game. For members of the military chapter, Sam writes a weekly recap of the game to help folks serving overseas feel more connected to the team. He talks about his thoughts on this latest game as well as his expectation for the Seahawks in 2016. **Note: There are some audio quality issues in the later parts of the show. We had a different set up while Adam is on the road and hopefully we can get the audio problems fixed for the next show. Lastly, the guys read your emails before getting into a Do Better and Better at Life. Is it possible for Adam to admit he's wrong twice in one show? Bleacher Report seems to be testing a new style of headline writing that Adam is not a fan of and Brandan takes Ryan Lochte to task for not knowing how to lie to his mom. Adam shares the praises of Pro Football Focus for their marks on our "undersized" center while Brandan has found even more reasons to hope that Troymaine Pope finds a spot on this Seahawks team. The Seahawks made their final trip to the east coast for the regular season and as the playoff picture begins to take shape, it looks like they'll be heading back that way to start the postseason. Seattle gets another blowout victory defeating the Ravens 35-6. But it comes with a cost as rookie Thomas Rawls goes down to injury and is out for the rest of the season. The guys take a look at the running back situation. Fortunately Marshawn Lynch is set to return, maybe in time for the playoffs to start. Until then Bryce Brown will see some action after jumping on and off the roster and now Christine Michael is also returning to the team. But is there much concern about the running game with Russell Wilson playing the way he is and playing at a level never seen before in NFL history. The guys open up the mailbag in the second half of the show and have a conversation around momentum, a tour fans have to see if they're coming in from out of town for a game, and a review from Italy. Do better nods go to the NFL for changing how officials will review potential penalties in the postseason and the infamous Pete Prisco. Better at life honors go to the Browns organization for a personnel decision and a sideline reporter for reaching a big milestone. iTunes | Stitcher | TuneIn | Facebook | Twitter | RSS Call or text: 253-235-9041Email: gohawks@seahawkerspodcast.comVisit Patreon.com if you'd like to help support the show and get bonus contentDownload our free Amazon app, Android app, or iOS app Find Sea Hawkers clubs around the world at SeaHawkers.orgMusic from the show by The 12 Train, download each track at ReverbNation
Seattle is back to .500 with a 29-13 win over the San Francisco 49ers. Russell Wilson had a near perfect day and was perfect against the blitz, Thomas Rawls racked up more yards from scrimmage than Christine Michael had rushing yards in his entire Seahawks career, and Tyler Lockett catches two touchdown passes on the day to help the team toward victory. Adam and Brandan talk about the key plays in the game against the 49ers. Next up is a challenging matchup with the 6-4 Steelers. Big Ben will make his first visit to Seattle as the LOB faces off against a receiving corps and quarterback that rival the NFC West leading Cardinals. With Marshawn Lynch out for the coming weeks, Seahawks fans will get to see a lot more of the Rawling Ball and if he continues to show the talent to pick up where Lynch left off. Though it's a bit early to talk playoffs, the guys take a look at the question of who Seahawks fans should cheer for in the Minnesota Vikings matchup with the Atlanta Falcons, as that game has big implications for where the Seahawks could end up in the playoff picture. In the final part of the show, do better nods go out to the 49ers coaching staff and a string of celebrity quarterback reports that shows the incredibly lazy nature of sports journalism. Better at life honors go to a comedian on HBO for his take on a fantasy sports issue and a wide receiver for the Rams who is in stable condition and recovering from a gunshot wounds to the head that were reportedly non-life threatening. iTunes | Stitcher | TuneIn | Facebook | Twitter | RSS Call or text: 253-235-9041Email: gohawks@seahawkerspodcast.comVisit Patreon.com if you'd like to help support the show and get bonus contentDownload our free Amazon app, Android app, or iOS app Find Sea Hawkers clubs around the world at SeaHawkers.orgMusic from the show by The 12 Train, download each track at ReverbNation
