Chris Meaney (@chrismeaney) shares his WR & RB Fantasy Football Waiver Wire Rankings with Joe Metz (@JMetz34) on Mean Streets. At the time of recording, Meaney and Metz were unsure how long Raheem Mostert would be sidelined and it sounds like he'll miss eight weeks. They both think Elijah Mitchell should be a priority in your waiver wire process, even though Kyle Shanahan has a history of using multiple backs. Meaney and Metz also touch on Tony Jones, Kenneth Gainwell, Mark Ingram and Carlos Hyde. They also dive deep into the wide receiver waiver wire pool with players like Sterling Shepard, Tim Patrick, Christian Kirk, Terrace Marshall and K.J. Osborn. Michael F. Florio returns to the show, joining Marcas Grant for a brand new edition of the NFL Fantasy Football Podcast. To start, MG and Florio react to the latest preseason news: the season-ending injury to Jacksonville Jaguars running back Travis Etienne and what it means for James Robinson and Carlos Hyde. The hosts also give their thoughts on Matt Nagy's commitment to quarterback Andy Dalton over Justin Fields and Saquon Barkley's return to team drills for the New York Giants. Next, they play a game of “Real or Mirage,” analyzing the New England Patriots quarterback situation, Ja'Marr Chase's standing in the wide receiver pecking order for the Cincinnati Bengals with Auden Tate potentially taking snaps, the probability of Taylor Heinicke taking over as Washington Football Team's starting quarterback, and Carson Wentz's status as Week 1 approaches. Then, the duo discusses the changing running back landscape, noting if they are higher or lower now on certain players than they were a couple months ago, specifically Jonathan Taylor, Austin Ekeler, Najee Harris, Myles Gaskin, Darrell Henderson, David Montgomery, and D'Andre Swift. Still, Urban Meyer's comments on the situation have been nothing short of puzzling, routinely referring to Etienne as "slash" due to the potential for him to play an awful lot of wide receiver. This is a skill Etienne possesses; just realize we don't have much evidence of him working in the slot or out wide from the Clemson days. Ian concludes the podcast with Etienne's specific rank and thoughts on James Robinson and Carlos Hyde. And then there were two…Two teams remain in contention for The Vince Lombardi Trophy, and we are a week and a half away from completing a season that I thought never had a chance to finish. After watching the early issues MLB had, I had little hope that season or any shortened season would finish. Not only did all those shortened seasons conclude with a champion, but the NFL is about to complete an entire season with zero cancelled games. Sure there were delays and postponements, but the fact that no games were cancelled blows my mind. A truly remarkable feat.Is there a chance that a Patriots or Chiefs’ player contracts COVID prior to Super Bowl LV? Of course there is. It may even be probable, but the NFL has shown us that they will play on (even without a quarterback on the roster). This leaves little doubt in my mind that we will be watching football on February 7, 2021.Today we are wrapping up the NFC West. We have already discussed the Cardinals, Rams and 49ers so we will be ending the month with the Seattle Seahawks. Like the 49ers, the Seahawks have an above average number of “noteworthy” free agents this year. In all, I recorded seven players that we need to keep our eyes on over the off season. Those players are:Greg OlsenJacob HollisterCarlos HydePhillip DorsettJosh GordonDavid MooreChris CarsonI won’t be talking about all seven of these players in this article, but I do promise to update you all when/if they sign a new contract. For today though, I’m going to speculate about Carlos Hyde, David Moore and (the man you came here to hear about) Chris Carson.

The Seahawks blew out the Jets, but it's the trend line for the Hawks that has Brock & Salk wondering who deserves credit for the turnaround? Is it right to be critical of Jamal Adams despite him setting records for sacks in a season? Will Rashaad Penny overtake Carlos Hyde as the number 2 back as soon as he returns? Why do NFL teams huddle 3 yards from the line of scrimmage when there are no fans in stadiums right now? Wow, there's a lot of questions to answer! Wonder who thinks they'll have the answer to each one of them... See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

The fantasy semifinals are upon us! We're joined by Sigmund Bloom of Footballguys.com to break down the week's top waiver pickups. Is a soft Dallas defense enough of a reason for fantasy managers to trust Jeff Wilson (8:03) even though he's stuck in a timeshare with Raheem Mostert? Has James Washington (26:32) surpassed Chase Claypool (30:16) in the pecking order, why is Jalen Hurts (36:59) worth snatching off waivers even if you have better options, and is the Washington DST (47:25) actually a sneaky good option against Seattle? The trio ends the episode with a round of Drop or Keep (49:44) and we examine whether it's time to cut Michael Pittman (51:07), the Bills' RBs (52:40), and Tyler Lockett (55:49) among many others. Carson Wentz was even more brutal than the box score indicated, and it begs the question: what exactly needs to happen for Jalen Hurts to get a real chance? Russell Wilson wasn't cooking quite like usual, but he still had more than enough magic to enable D.K. Metcalf to a huge night. The Carlos Hyde and Chris Carson backfield split wasn't great (notice who was listed first). Ian finishes off the podcast with thoughts on notable waiver wire options such as Devontae Booker, Keke Coutee, Cam Akers, Kirk Cousins, Royce Freeman and much more.

The Seattle Seahawks are now 7-3 and coming off a 28-21 victory over the Arizona Cardinals. For the second time this season, we watched a Seahawks defense shut out an opponent in the first quarter of a football game. It was their best defensive performance in terms of points allowed in the 2020 season. What did it take to help turn things around for the defense? By accounts from the team in press conferences this week, they simply held a meeting where players talked about what their jobs were in particular situations. The defense also got an assist from a Seahawks offense that held the ball for a majority of the game. It kept the Arizona Cardinals offense off the field. Carlos Hyde gave Seattle a dynamic on offense that we haven't seen in previous weeks. We also take a look at some of the moments that both kept the Cardinals in the game, and helped the Seahawks expand their lead late in the game. The Seahawks move into a four-game stretch of the season where anything other than going undefeated will be a huge disappointment. The next four teams on the schedule (Eagles, Giants, Jets, Football Team) have combined to win a total of two games outside of their own division. With that in mind, the Seahawks need to have some statement wins and rack up stats, especially if Russell Wilson is going to be back in the conversation for MVP. It's not just for personal awards, it's to get the team prepared for a Week 16 rematch with the Rams. In the second half of the show we take a look back at the previous five weeks and why 2-3 feels like a disappointing result despite some of the issues Seattle faced with injuries. We get into the pick'em winners from the past two weeks. In the 'Do Better' segment we talk about how North Korea may or may not be militarizing dolphins and what DeAndre Hopkins was crying about after a Cardinals loss to the Dolphins. Better at life honors go to an unknown prankster and to a former Seahawks player who embraced the spirit of giving for Thanksgiving. Russell Wilson didn't put up his usual massive numbers, but he played extremely smart throughout the game and could've had a bigger performance if D.K. Metcalf hadn't dropped an easy TD. Carlos Hyde was the undisputed bell-cow back and deserves continued RB2 treatment as long as Chris Carson remains sidelined. Kyler Murray was surprisingly shut down as a rusher, and his passing production oddly didn't enable either Christian Kirk or DeAndre Hopkins to big performances. Ian finishes things up by touching on a number of injuries including: Alvin Kamara, Teddy Bridgewater, Clyde Edwards-Helaire, Sammy Watkins, Davante Adams, D'Andre Swift and much more.

Justin Jefferson (21:55), Bradon Aiyuk (23:14) and Alshon Jeffery (24:24) are the favorites for most to pick up, but Yates has different thoughts that you won't want to miss. Stick around if you need to stream a QB (42:38) or a D/ST (53:03) and see who we're willing to move on from in our "Drop or Keep" segment (56:35). 304: Seahawks first game showcases new dynamics on offense and defense

Anyone questioning if Pete Carroll could drastically shift the dynamics of the offense and defense from last season to this season got their concerns answered in the Seahawks Week 1 game against the Atlanta Falcons. Their 38-25 victory featured an aggressiveness on offense rarely seen in previous years. No give up plays on 2nd and long, going for it all on fourth down while the Seahawks had the lead, and Russell Wilson looking as though he was in complete command of the offense. Defensively, Carroll used Jamal Adams to generate pressure in a way we haven't seen him use that position in the past. We saw nickel and dime defenses. With those exciting changes, there remain areas of significant concern. With the Seahawks leading by three scores and a relatively immobile quarterback in Matt Ryan, Seattle's defensive line still wasn't able to get into the backfield with any regularity. Late in the game we didn't see punishing runs by Chris Carson and Carlos Hyde to help put the game away. Atlanta had early success running the football and in the second half they completely abandoned the idea testing Seattle's defensive tackles. Against the Patriots, the Seahawks front seven will be tested defensively. New England ran the ball early against the Dolphins and then opened up a passing game in the second half that allowed them to move the ball very effectively against Miami. The Patriots strength on defense is in their secondary, but containing Russell Wilson has never been something New England has had much success with. Let's see if the trend of what we saw on offense against the Falcons continues in Week 2. In the second half of the show take a look down at the 2019 NFC Champions in the cellar of the NFC West. We discuss the new club that Russell Wilson belongs to and another player who will be joining that club in the near future. A Pro Football Focus power rating and states Adam recently traveled through need to do better. Better at life honors go to the 'Let Russ Cookers' and to literally everyone not named Skip Bayless.
