A chef says balance and eatability are keys to a good toasted sandwich. Mount Maunganui's Freeport with Cleaver and Co has won top prize at the Great New Zealand Toastie Takeover. This winning entry features smoked lamb pastrami, prawns, mozzarella, smoked cheddar sauce, and sweet and spicy pickles on sourdough. Chef de Partie Brooke Moore says toasties shouldn't fall apart when picked up. "Definitely a nice crisp exterior, so when you bite into it, it's nice and crisp. It can't be too rich too, adding some light pickles to balance it out is also really nice." LISTEN ABOVESee omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

While we all wait for the ethics rules to change and open up avenues of innovation such as non-lawyer ownership in law firms, there are lawyers grabbing the bull by the horns and changing how they practice despite the confines of the ethics rules. These lawyers are offering subscription legal services, virtual multi-state practices, concierge wills and trusts service through virtual portals, empowering self-represented litigants, and more. On this episode, Megan and her guest Erin Gerstenzang will highlight some of these lawyers and also dish on presenting a talk to the Tennessee Lawyers Association for Women Empowerment Conference on this very topic. We are living in a DIY world and lawyers can no longer be protective of their old ways of practicing law. Consumers are turning online for legal answers and many even go to YouTube to get help. This is a good sign for lawyers looking to fill a gap in the market by providing help to consumers who don't need full representation but instead, require help with a specific aspect of their legal matter. That's why I wanted to explore the world of limited scope representation. This conversation will shed light on the growing appeal of limited scope representation, especially for lawyers who are seeking an alternative way of practicing law. Joining me are Brooke Moore and Laura O'Bryan, co-Founders of MyVirtual.Lawyer, a virtual law firm offering limited scope representation in the areas of Family Law, Estate Planning, and Business Law. Brooke and Laura break down what limited scope representation is, how it can help your existing law firm grow (or how it can replace your existing practice all together), and what you can do to get started with LSR. This year’s ABA TECHSHOW roster has more women faculty than men. While the legal industry has previously been predominantly men, this demographic is shifting. In this episode of On The Road, host Sharon Nelson talks to Linda Klein, Heidi Alexander, Rochelle Washington, Brooke Moore, Sarah Glassmeyer, and Catherine Reach about the women in legal technology. Their discussion includes why it’s important to promote women’s roles in the legal industry and what specific characteristics women have to improve the tech field. Linda Klein is the current president of the American Bar Association. In her practice life, she is managing shareholder for the Georgia offices of Baker, Donelson, Bearman, Caldwell & Berkowitz, LLP.
