This year, we are celebrating our FIFTH year of the Wealth Woman Lawyer podcast by sharing with you the most popular episodes in 2024, starting with number three on our list of the top episodes. We hope you enjoy it as much as we have and that you are ending your year on a happy note.******In this week's episode, I delve into what is perhaps the number one challenge law firm owners face when they are attempting to transition from solo attorney to CEO of a law firm business, and that is cultivating a high-performing legal team.Once we overcome the fear of hiring that first associate attorney—which is a huge obstacle in and of itself for most solos—we often are then faced with what it REALLY means to cultivate, train, and manage a multi-person legal team including attorneys, paralegals, and legal administrators. The transition from a solo lawyer or boss of one or two staffers is drastically different from leading a legal team. And most law firm owners are not only NOT prepared for the transition, but also have no idea what's coming.Listen in as I share:15 challenges law firm owners face when attempting to hire, train, retain and grow a high-performing team (or any team). Why I think it's important you begin thinking about these challenges before you even have a big team.5 “mindset shortcuts” I use and teach my clients that help to overcome overwhelm and fear around cultivating a right-fit team. One way you can get help to grow your right-fit team faster. And much more!Links to Love:*** Is 2025 the year you want to make more money in your law firm business without being overloaded with “hard work”? Recently, I was having a conversation with another woman lawyer about marketing options for small law firms, and she shared with me that she did not like seeing herself on video, so it was hard to imagine she would create reels on Instagram or videos for TikTok.I totally understood! I do not love either seeing myself on video or hearing my recorded voice. And I know we are not alone. It comes up frequently in conversations with other women law firm owners of a certain age!In this culture where women appear to be valued for youth and beauty, it takes confidence and strong self-esteem to put yourself out there if you think you have passed some kind of imaginary expiration date.Comparison-it is on social media is not reserved just for people in their teens and 20s. Even those of us with lots of emotional management tools in our toolboxes can get caught up in comparing ourselves and our lives with what we see in our social feeds.I can tell you all day, every day, that other people are not judging you nearly as hard as you judge yourself, but if you hate being on video, you likely will not really care. So, I wanted to reassure you that there are other options for marketing your law firm besides becoming an Instagram or TikTok influencer. You'd think by now after being an attorney and business owner for almost two decades, I would know what I'm about to share with you today. But the one thing I know about life as an entrepreneur and business owner is that there are ALWAYS lessons to be learned. As Abraham Hicks says: “You will never get it done, and you can never get it wrong.”Why? Because, as human beings, we are always receiving new information and transforming how we think and behave based on that information—yes, even those of us we wouldn't think ever change are always changing.Listen in as I share the ah-ha moment I had this week. In today's episode of the Wealthy Woman Lawyer® Podcast, I want to share with you five skills I acquired that I believe made me a better business owner than I was when I started my entrepreneurial journey.I'm also going to share with you WHY I think they made me a better business owner because that's important as well. Just adopting someone else's methods or ideas on a subject without understanding why they are doing it that way will not help you. Understanding the 'why' behind business practices empowers you to make informed decisions and take control of your business.Listen in as I share…Why it's important to understand why someone does what they do (what they get out of it).Why I see opportunities all around me every day (yes, even in my inbox) and how that serves meWhy I'm grateful I went to law school and became an attorney and how it serves me as a business owner (but also, the downside)The one skill that is required to make anything happen and the advantage people who possess it have over those who do not.The skill that helps me to minimize fear and anxiety when things do not go the way I envision they will (this one has helped me to survive the inevitable ups and downs in my business)The most important skill to have if you want to make a career as an entrepreneur and business owner (and it's also been the hardest one for me to master)How to get started if you want to hone your leadership skills and be a better law firm ownerAnd much more!Links to Love:Join me in my upcoming training—it's my most popular one yet.
