A little about Cheryl B in her own words: I lived years in recovery as a dry drunk, thinking sobriety was my goal and battled with my thinking. Being sober did not mean I was working a 12 Step Program. In the grip of a progressive illness, it got worse, never better, until I finally handed my life over to a Power greater than myself. Today she speaks on the topic of God is Everything or God is Nothing.Reco12 Afro-Euro Timezone is a Reco12 Resource in and for the Afro-Euro time zone hosted by Karen A. Don't all of your issues seem to be exacerbated by the holiday season? We're spending increased amounts of time with people and/or family who may have wounded us or still do. We may feel pressured and obligated by Great Expectations for how things "should" be. Perhaps we labor under the financial burden such expectations add; the sometimes extreme changes in environment, sleep, and schedules at work and with travel that can cause burnout; the many occasions for over-stimulation for us or our kids; the sheer amounts and types of food; stifling grief while feeling forced to put on the happy face; sibling rivalries; inferiority complexes; self-medication and addiction triggers; seasonal depression and lack of sunlight; questions and insinuations from others about "where you are" in life. If all of that feels overwhelming to you, perhaps you can see why the holiday season causes your inner child to feel distressed and begin "acting out" in order to get your attention? And why all the guilt for simply wanting to hibernate until the whole season is over, or needing to limit exposure to the entire bit? What if the guilt is driven by a trauma bond? Here are six Ps for navigating the holidays and making them more peaceful and happy: Predict, Prepare, Plan, Priorities, Peace, Pivot. Here's the Anxiety Checklist referred to in the episode. Abusive behavior does not always involve tangible violence. Distinctions must be made between physical violence/abuse—traditionally, the most researched and detectable form—and emotional, or psychological, abuse. Emotional abuse is any nonphysical behavior or attitude that is designed to control, subdue, punish, or isolate another person through the use of humiliation or fear (Engel, 2002). . . . Emotional abuse can include verbal assault, dominance, control, isolation, ridicule, or the use of intimate knowledge for degradation (Follingstad, Coyne, & Gambone, 2005). It targets the emotional and psychological well-being of the victim, and it is often a precursor to physical abuse. . . . Some types of physical behavior can be considered emotional abuse in that they represent physical violence (Marshall, 1996). Examples include: throwing objects, kicking a wall, shaking a finger or fist at the victim, driving recklessly while the victim is in the car, or threatening to destroy objects the victim values. Property damage is a form of emotional abuse considered “symbolic violence” (Engel, 2002) that results in serious psychological, social, and economic costs. Harm inflicted on victim's pets can be emotionally abusive, causing suffering in both humans and animals (Faver & Strand, 2007). Link to study, above. In episode 12 I'll be virtually traveling from my Safety Harbor, Florida studio due north to Michigan and into the painting studio of Cheryl B. Widener. Cheryl is both a passionate artist and vocalist who has devoted much of her creative energy towards greater self-awareness and spiritualism that is often depicted in her paintings and drawings. An ardent Plein-air painter and figure artist, her work is widely displayed in both public and private collections. • A note from Cheryl after the show- "I had a great time talking with you! The video of my collaboration, “Dancers to Paintings”, I talked about can be found here: https://www.widenerfineart.com/blog/163944/announcing-a-new-collaboration-between-cheryl-widener-and-shanons-dance-academy It is in my blog post on the website my husband and I share. https://www.widenerfineart.com/ Those who visit our site find alternating portfolios of our work and are quick to notice the differences AND areas of similarities in our work! My beginnings were more feral and intuitive while Tim's were classical. We've been a great and strong influence to each others work! Again, Caroline, thank you for making room for me in your series and ALL of your contributions to our International Online Art Collective!!!! ❤️

With this being a finale, we both expected and hoped for the biggest and most delicious plate of nachos that we have been served so far, and we were not disappointed! Join Chris and Darrell (Debris Division partners) as we share what the Nachos had to say about “Celestial Body” - the stellar and absolutely phenomenal bombshell of a season finale of Debris! We heard from a few new Nachos but also heard from many of our regulars, and that list includes Cory, Matty, Brian the Christmas Guy from New Hampsha, Bastien, Geoff (xforce11), Anne, Barb, Cheryl B, Patty from Canadia, Sarge, John (TheSilverVox), TVasTherapy, Bradley, Elyse, Jeremiah, Emily (The Soggy Nacho), Brian (Zeppelin Driver), David, and Kome! We also heard from a few of you via our social media outlets like Twitter and Facebook, and you all had such exciting and insightful things to say about this finale, with many of you excited by John Noble’s appearance (as we were) and speculating about questions such as who Particle Man (first name Particle, last name Man) might be and what the heck we were looking at in that shocking closing scene. Be sure to keep in touch and stay connected with us because even though the first season of Debris is over, we do still have a bonus episode planned for you in the near future! Read More... As we discussed in our review and breakdown episode, “A Message from Ground Control” left us with more questions than it did answers, which we didn’t expect from a penultimate episode, but we are, as always, so grateful to have Nachos to bring such deliciousness to the plate and help us make a little more sense of this puzzling episode of Debris! We hear from Adam, Emily (Soggy Nacho), Julie, Barb, Cheryl B, Kome, Elyse, Bradley, John (TheSilverVox), Brian (Zeppelin Driver), and Patty from Canadia (who helps us understand the complex science in this episode)! Our Nachos cover topics like the intentions of the debris and whether or not it actually does come in peace, how Bryan and Finola seem to have switched roles as far as their sense of hope is concerned, whether or not characters like Maddox and George can be trusted, what they expect from and hope for the upcoming season finale, and so much more! We really hope that you will join the conversation next week and offer your input on the upcoming season finale which will surely be exciting and climactic! Read More... Our plate of Nachos this week was, as usual, delicious, and it was also very full! Consisting of Nachos like Brian (The Christmas Guy from New Hampsha), Cory, Cheryl B, Jacob (Keto Nacho), Vera, Barb, Barn Owl, Bradley, Robert, Emily (Soggy Nacho), John (TheSilverVox), Brian (Zeppelin Driver), Geoff (xforce11), Kome, Patty from Canadia, as well as many other Nachos via social media like Twitter and Facebook, our listeners discuss whether or not they were satisfied with how this story was resolved (if it indeed was resolved) and whether or not they believe that we are seeing our Finola and Bryan at the end of the episode. Opinions about the ending seem to be varied, and this may in fact be one of the most polarizing episodes of Debris yet! First Draft Episode #216: Mallory Kass (a.k.a. Kass Morgan) Kass Morgan, New York Times bestselling author of The 100 and Light Years (a.k.a. Mallory Kass, senior editor at Scholastic). Supernova, the sequel to Light Years, is out now! Links and Topics Mentioned In This Episode Kass’s father wrote for Seinfeld Paula Abdul (her iconic Forever Your Girl is a great starting point) and Janet Jackson (oh my god, where to begin? Rhythm Nation is a must, and The Velvet Rope is everything— also apparently she wrote a book! True You: A Journey to Finding and Loving Yourself) were two pop stars Mallory was totally unaware of when she moved from Brooklyn to Los Angeles at age 11 Once she figured out that she was not destined to be an academic, Kass moved to New York and started an internship at Scholastic with Arthur Levine, who edited a little book series called Harry Potter (when she started at the publisher, Levine was working on Deathly Hallows in secret) Kass’s bosses at Scholastic, Rachel Griffiths and David Levithan (New York Times bestselling author of Every Day and Boy Meets Boy), were instrumental in making her feel comfortable pursuing writing as well as editing Cheryl B. Klein, associate editor at Scholastic and Kass’s co-worker, encouraged Kass to talk to Alloy Entertainment, a book packaging firm known for projects such as Gossip Girl by Cecily von Ziegesar and Vampire Diaries by L. J. Smith. Alloy contacted Kass to work on a new project, The 100! I loved Zenon: Girl of the 21st Century, which features a space school, and so did Kass! Looking for Alaska by John Green (which is about to be a Hulu show) is the type of boarding school narrative that we’re more accustomed to reading — Kass threw the boarding school into space! My humblebrag about moderating a panel on worldbuilding which featured N.K. Jemisin (and also Marie Lu, Marissa Meyer, and Joe Hill!) at BookCon. I want to hear from you! https://www.youtube.com/user/WrightStateU They just kept coming. Car after truck rolled into the warehouse of the Dayton Foodbank to pick up meat, eggs, vegetables, fruit and juice. And 15 Wright State University employees swarmed each vehicle, loading it up for the needy and grateful residents. It was all part of a July 19 university wide, service day opportunity for employees, who took a half day off work to help the community without having to use leave time. All 75 volunteer slots for the first We Serve U Day were filled. “The importance of service to the community is part of our university's mission and is ingrained in our culture,” President Cheryl B. Schrader said in an email announcing We Serve U Day. “Time and again, you have stepped up to help your neighbors and those in need.” More at https://webapp2.wright.edu/web1/newsroom/2019/07/22/wright-state-employees-distribute-food-collect-donations-as-part-of-we-serve-u-day/

https://www.youtube.com/user/WrightStateU Wright State University gave a warm official embrace to new Provost Susan Edwards with a welcoming reception in which she was described as a passionate educator with a growth mindset. Faculty, staff, students and community members gathered in the atrium of the Student Union on Sept. 18 to hear and meet Edwards, provost and executive vice president of academic affairs. Edwards, former vice provost for faculty affairs at Appalachian State University, assumed her post at Wright State on July 30, succeeding Thomas Sudkamp, who served as provost since 2015. “She has hit the ground running,” President Cheryl B. Schrader told the gathering. “She brings such an energy and passion to her vocation. …Dr. Edwards has clearly left a positive impression on us in a short amount of time.” Edwards said Wright State and the Dayton community have been one of the most welcoming she has ever experienced. “I look forward to working with everybody as we move the campus towards its new future,” she said. “It’s exciting times. Difficult times are always exciting times in that they provide opportunity for growth. And it’s time for us now to take this opportunity to move Wright State into its next iteration and its next future.” More at http://webapp2.wright.edu/web1/newsroom/2018/09/19/wright-state-officially-welcomes-new-provost-susan-edwards-with-reception

It was a full house in the Wright State University Student Union Atrium on March 6, as students, faculty, staff and community members gathered to witness university history. Cheryl B. Schrader, chancellor of Missouri University of Science and Technology, was appointed the first female president of Wright State. Trustee Grace Ramos captured the significance of the moment when she said she was “pleased to have a role in breaking the glass ceiling at Wright State University.” “I am both honored and humbled to be the seventh president in the history of Wright State University,” said Schrader. “And I do have to let you all in on a little secret — seven is my lucky number.” Here’s a look at the historic day for Wright State and Schrader.
Cheryl B. Schrader, chancellor of Missouri University of Science and Technology, was named the next president of Wright State University and will become the first woman to lead the school in its 50-year history. Schrader emerged from a nine-month national search and a diverse pool of 61 candidates to win selection by the Wright State Board of Trustees to become the university’s seventh president. She was publicly introduced as Wright State’s next president March 6 after the board approved her election during a meeting in the Student Union Atrium. She will succeed President David R. Hopkins when he retires June 30, 2017. “This is the right time to be at Wright State,” said Schrader. “The university has built up its potential over the past decade and is poised to move to the next level. And that’s where I would like to be.”
