Construction continues on the Community Mental Health Authority of Clinton, Eaton, and Ingham Counties' (CMHA-CEI) Crisis Care Center—a project grounded in compassion and designed to expand access to fundamental mental health support, bringing warmth and hope as 2025 draws to a close and the community's shared vision for a brighter 2026 approaches. The center's progress shines vividly, reflecting the community's ongoing investment in healing, connection and care for all. As the season of togetherness returns, it can also bring quiet reminders of loneliness or unspoken struggles. For some, the contrast between festive expectations and personal reality can intensify emotional and mental health challenges. When school is on break and routines are disrupted, families often lose access to the daily support systems they rely on, making timely, accessible behavioral health care even more essential. In those moments, CMHA-CEI's existing crisis services for all ages offer immediate, around-the-clock support and will continue to be accessible during a difficult season for resources. She is an Assistant Professor of Clinical Medicine at Northwestern University Medical school and in 2021 was appointed as medical director of the new Northwestern Bronzeville Outpatient Care Center (open Fall 2025). She is board certified in Internal Medicine and a fellow of the American College of Physicians. Since 2000, she has successfully served as a staff member at Northwestern Memorial Hospital and has been recognized for her contributions throughout her tenure at Northwestern. This handbook is key to your bottom line, your reputation and ultimately, your business. They give the following writing tips:Use a consistent font and formatting throughout. Review carefully for correct spelling and grammar. Write in plain language that is easy to understand. Do you serve families who speak languages other than English? If so, invest in getting your policies translated and remember this step every time you update them.  Make your documents easy to navigate with page numbers and a table of contents. Ensure they include all state-required policies and reflect every aspect of your programming. Include a "last updated" date so readers know the information is current. They also walk through how to organize a handbook and how to avoid the biggest mistakes they see when directors and owners create handbooks.Want to learn more about the work Kelly and Paula are doing? Willamette Springs Memory Care, a senior living facility in Corvallis, was under 'enhanced supervision' by the state, but continued to operate. As reported in Willamette Week, within the past two years the facility has been cited with upwards of 50 instances of abuse. In September, the Oregon Department of Human Services considered removing the facility's license. However, last month the facility passed its latest inspection, removing admission restrictions and regulatory oversight. Lucas Manfield covers health care for WW.
