Welcome back guys, here on ESOA Podcast. Unfortunately, once again my guest for this episode cancelled just before the end. This immediately inspired me to record a musical special for you. I decided on a Chicago House and Techno special. Alongside Detroit, Chicago is clearly an important cornerstone. Without it, techno and house would not exist in their current form. Think about the impact that tracks like Move your Body or Acid Tracks still have today. Frankie Knuckles began playing early electronic productions back in 1977 in the then newly opened, rather run-down but well-equipped Warehouse club. A sound that continued to develop into later house and techno, with great, unforgotten names such as Marshall Jefferson, Larry Heard, Adonis, Tyree Cooper, Farley "Jackmaster" Funk, Frankie Knuckles, Steve "Silk" Hurley, DJ Pierre, Phuture, Mike Dunn, K-Alexi Bad Boy Bill, "Fast" Eddie Smith, Ron Hardy and Derrick Carter made history. The sound was released on labels such as DJ International, Dance Mania, Jack Trax, Underground Records and Trax Records. Friends, let this sound inspire you for the next two and a half hours. Have fun with ESOA Podcast 072 by myself, Thomas Schubert. Thanks for tuning in.

"The more we get to know one another through our stories, the closer we come together as a community, as a nation, as a world... and as you start to dissect many operas, you're really telling the story of the delicacy and strength of the human condition." ~Dr. Estevan Rael-Gálvez We invited some of our favorite storytellers to talk to us about the role of story in opera. They each share their unique perspectives on the big question: Why are we even bothering to tell stories? I starten af 10'erne begynder drill-scenen pludselig at kaste heftigt lys over byen.

It was an honor to share sacred space (or what I like to call ceremony) with her and her mother, Maria Silva, inside the Judy Chicago Birth Stories exhibition in Pasadena, CA in September of 2018.  In this episode we go deep into quite a few places around childbirth. We talk about Jenny's 4 births and her mother, Maria's 11 births.
