Tonight's guest, Athena, lives on a very old farm, that's backed by ancient woodlands, in North Wales, in the U.K. Due to how old her farm is, there are some good things that come along with that and some bad. One of the bad things she and her family members have had to deal with is a presence of paranormal entities that have made all of their lives more interesting than what they would prefer. Another thing she's had to learn to deal with is the presence of Dogmen that make their presence known too often for Athena's liking. Unfortunately, when it comes to Dogman encounters, Athena got an early start. You see, she had her first Dogman encounter when she was only 16 years old. It happened late one night when there was a full moon out. That encounter was, by far and away, the most traumatic encounter she's had with a Dogman due, in large part, to where it happened. She was in her own bed, at the time. The one place where you should feel safer than any other. What made that encounter even more traumatic was what the Dogman did after she saw it. Heute vor 425 Jahren, am 17. Februar 1600, wurde Giordano Bruno, der das Universum für »unendlich« und religiöse Dogmen für »Eseleien« hielt, als »halsstarriger Ketzer« auf dem Scheiterhaufen verbrannt.»Mit größerer Furcht verkündet ihr vielleicht das Urteil gegen mich, als ich es entgegennehme!«: Mit diesen Worten soll Giordano Bruno auf das für ihn verhängnisvolle Urteil der »Heiligen Inquisition« am 8. Februar 1600 geantwortet haben. Neun Tage später wurde der vielgereiste, vielgerühmte, aber noch mehr gehasste Gelehrte, der durch seine fast achtjähriger Haft in den Kerken der katholischen Kirche körperlich gebrochen war, zum Campo de' Fiori in Rom geführt und auf dem Scheiterhaufen verbrannt. Das Bild des Gekreuzigten, das ihm kurz vor dem Tod hingehalten wurde, wies er mit Verachtung zurück.Was die römischen Inquisitoren damals nur erahnen konnten, hat Volker Reinhard in seiner detektivischen Arbeit zu Brunos Leben und Werk klar herausgestellt. Dabei wird deutlich, dass Brunos »kühne Parcours durch unbekannte Gedanken-Galaxien« immer mit konkreten Schlussfolgerungen verbunden waren, die darauf hinausliefen, »dass jede Art der Herrschaft gleichbedeutend ist mit der Ausbeutung des Volkes und dass die Kirche diesen Machtmissbrauch durch ihre pervertierte Lehre tatkräftig unterstützt.« Reinhards Fazit: »So tritt hinter dem kosmischen Visionär der politische Denker Giordano Bruno hervor, der sich mit den Missständen seiner Zeit kritisch auseinandersetzt und zu revolutionären Schlussfolgerungen für eine humanere Gesellschaft und einen gerechteren Staat gelangt.« Hosted on Acast. On Episode 528, he told us about the night his white American bulldog, named Dallas, gave his life to protect Cam from a Dogman that attacked him. After that show aired, Cam came back on the show to update us on new encounters he'd had with that same Dogman. On his latest show, Episode 559, he told us about the final showdown he had with that Dogman. Well, a few weeks ago, he reached back out to me to let me know about a shocking development. His grandmother had a very frightening encounter with the same Dogman that Cam had all of those encounters with when she was only 12-years-old. She kept that from Cam until about a month ago. High Protein. Diese Worte tauchen gerade überall auf. In Ernährungsempfehlungen, auf Verpackungen, in sozialen Medien. Für viele klingt das nach Muskelaufbau, Shakes und Fitnessstudio. Für andere nach der nächsten Verunsicherung. Und ganz schnell steht die Frage im Raum: Wofür eigentlich? Wie viel ist sinnvoll? Und kann zu viel Protein dem Körper auch schaden? In dieser Folge meines Podcasts DA GEHT NOCH WAS spreche ich mit Felix genau darüber. Nach der letzten Episode zur neuen Ernährungspyramide haben mich viele Fragen von euch erreicht. Grund genug, das Thema Protein jetzt in Ruhe einzuordnen. Protein ist längst kein Randthema mehr und auch kein exklusives Werkzeug für Bodybuilder. Es spielt eine zentrale Rolle für Muskeln, Knochen, Hormone und den Stoffwechsel - besonders mit zunehmendem Alter. Wir verlieren Muskelmasse oft unbemerkt, was Kraft, Stabilität, Blutzucker und Fettverbrennung beeinflusst. Genau hier wird Eiweiß relevant, vor allem für Frauen ab 40 und in den Wechseljahren. Gleichzeitig zeigt sich: Protein sättigt länger als Kohlenhydrate, stabilisiert den Blutzucker und hilft beim Abnehmen, Fett zu verlieren, ohne Muskelmasse abzubauen. Doch mehr ist nicht automatisch besser. Sehr hohe Proteinmengen können den Körper belasten, vor allem wenn die Qualität nicht stimmt oder andere Nährstoffe verdrängt werden. Tierische Proteinquellen sind gut verfügbar, bringen aber je nach Auswahl auch gesättigte Fette und Zusatzstoffe mit. Pflanzliche Proteine liefern zusätzlich Ballaststoffe und sekundäre Pflanzenstoffe und unterstützen Darm und Entzündungsbalance. Wie viel Protein brauchst du wirklich? Woran merkst du, ob du eher zu wenig oder zu viel davon isst? Und wie lässt sich Eiweiß alltagstauglich integrieren, ohne Stress, ohne Dogmen und ohne den nächsten Ernährungstrend mitzumachen? Tonight's guest, Kai Raath, was born and raised in South Africa. With that in mind, he's been in close proximity to animals that made his heart race but none of them got his heart racing the way it did when he had encounters with a Dogman he had his first encounter with, in March of 2023. That Dogman was white, all over, with a prominent mane running down its back. When tonight's guest, April, was younger, she found what she thought was an injured, jet-black dog in the woods, one day. Being the kind soul she was and is, she decided to take him home with her, so she could nurse him back to good health. Due to his jet-black coat, she named him Shadow. As time went by, she came to realize that there was something special about Shadow. He had qualities normal dogs don't have, like piercing, amber-colored eyes that seemed as if they could look right through you. Also, normal dogs don't raise up onto their back legs and walk from the living room window to the front door, so they can look out. Tonight's guest, Marshall, is an experienced Ohio Dogman investigator who was featured on Episode 626, most recently. Originally, he came on Episode 445, to talk about Dogman encounters he'd had in his main research area. Back when he came on Episode 445 to do that, he viewed the Dogmen in his research to be relatively docile. On Episode 626, however, he came back to tell us about the change in demeanor he's noticed from the Dogmen in that area. He now describes them as being dangerous. On Episode 626, he told us about several unnerving discoveries he'd made in his main research area that lead him to conclude that the Dogmen there are dangerous now. Tonight's guest, Marshall, is an experienced Ohio Dogman investigator who was featured on Episode 445, two years ago. On that show, Marshall told us about the relatively positive experiences he'd had with Dogmen in a research area he'd been doing investigations in for 30 years. On that show, he described the Dogmen in his main research area as being almost docile. Unfortunately, that's all changed. Not long ago, Marshall noticed an abrupt change in the demeanor of the Dogmen in that area. Now, he describes them as being dangerous. The area used to have a lot of visitors but Marshall has noticed that the area rarely has visitors anymore. Marshall has made several disturbing discoveries there, recently. His most disturbing discovery was finding an abandoned, destroyed tent there where the occupant, apparently, felt he was fighting for his life against something dangerous outside his tent. Wie spielen das Bekenntnis und die Freiheit im christlichen Glauben zusammen? Die reformierten Landeskirchen der Schweiz gehören zu den wenigen Kirchen, die weder in ihren Verfassungen noch in ihren Liturgien eine Verpflichtung auf ein Bekenntnis kennen. Was genau bedeutet diese Bekenntnisfreiheit? Ist sie überhaupt noch zeitgemäss? Mit diesen Fragen war Geist.Zeit am 13. September 2025 zu Gast auf dem grossen Kirchenfest der reformierten Kirche Aargau. Thorsten und Andi blenden zurück ins 19. Jahrhundert und erzählen die reformierte Freiheitsgeschichte des Glaubensbekenntnisses nach. Als sich die schweizerische Gesellschaft insgesamt demokratisierte, regte sich der Freiheitsdrang auch in der Kirche. Die staatskirchliche Bekenntnispflicht wurde aufgehoben. Autoritätskritisch befreite sich die Kirche von den Glaubensbekenntnissen, die je länger, je mehr als unzumutbar, zwingend und unterdrückend empfunden worden waren. So wichtig die Befreiung der Gläubigen von aufgezwungenen Bekenntnissen ist, kommt da nicht die Freiheit zu kurz, selbstbestimmt zu überlegen und auszudrücken, was gemeinsame Glaubensüberzeugungen sind? So fragen sich die beiden Podcaster und stellen fest, wie zeitgemäss unterschiedliche Formen des Bekennens in unserer Kultur sind. Wer bekennt, zeigt sich authentisch. Wer bekennt, zeigt sich loyal zu dem, was uns gemeinsam wichtig ist. Bekennen ist mehr als intellektuelle Zustimmung zu Dogmen. Bekennen ist Herzenssache. Ist die Zeit reif, das Bekennen als gegenwärtige Sprachform des Glaubens neu zu entdecken? Welche Initiativen gab es bereits innerhalb der reformierten Kirchen der Schweiz? Wie könnte ein Bekenntnis zum Himmel heute lauten, damit das Motto des Kirchenfestes lebendig und glaubhaft klingt: Wie im Himmel, so im Aargau?
Tonight's guest, Rodney, describes himself as being a farm boy who grew up on a farm, in Ohio. He'd hunted from the time he was knee-high to a grasshopper all the way up to 1983. After spending so much time in the woods, he thought he knew about everything out there in them. That confidence came crashing down, one night, in August of 1983, however. That was the night he had just stepped out of his house and found himself literally face to face with what looked to him like a huge, black Werewolf. When he shut the door to his house that night, turned and almost walked right into the thing, it was crouched like it was about to pounce on him. As if all that wasn't frightening enough, to Rodney's horror, it then did something that mortified him to his core. Tonight's guest, Dan Schmidt, was born and raised in Southern Minnesota. When Dan was growing up there, he had what could very easily be the most frightening Dogman encounter that's ever been shared on the show. You see, when he was 9-years-old, Dan and his cousin spent the night at his grandma and grandpa's farm, during winter break. The encounter happened the first night Dan and his cousin were there. When it happened, Dan was laying on the couch, in the living room and his cousin was laying on a make-shift bed his grandma had made, on the living room floor. Some time between 1 and 2 AM, Dan was awoken by a noise. Dan realized that it was the sound of the latch on the door to the back porch, of the house, being worked. Then, he heard that door being opened. Next, he heard slow, heavy footsteps walking across the back porch toward the back door of the house. When he heard those footsteps coming toward the back door, he looked at the back door. To his dismay, he then saw its doorknob turn and then the back door slowly open. What happened next was much more than most people would ever be able to handle. He watched a Werewolf walk into the house. 12 days ago, tonight's guest, Josh, had a Dogman encounter in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan that he's still trying to come to terms with. He was hunting deer at the time and he already knew about Dogmen. The fact that he knew about them, before he had that encounter, helped him deal with the encounter, as it played out, but he didn't leave the experience unscathed. Less than a week ago, tonight's guest, Josh, had a Dogman encounter. He was hunting deer at the time, in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, in a blind. To get to the blind Josh was sitting in, he had to walk down a narrow path that had heavy brush on either side of it. The area around the blind was choked with trees and brush that made visibility very poor except for the lanes that had been cut through the brush by his dad. Due to all that tonight's guest has been through, as a direct result of her having the most horrific kind of Dogman encounter, I'm going to keep everything about her totally anonymous. Tonight's guest, Shawn Brackenridge, is a Dogman investigator who doesn't believe in living in your fears. Having said that, even he gets unsettled when he and his research partner visit the area around the Lake Medina Dam, near Mico, Texas. Every time Shawn has visited the dam, the hairs on the back of his neck stand up. The dam is different than any other dam Shawn has seen, when you consider the lengths county officials have gone to, to keep people away from the dam. 7-foot fences surround the dam that are topped with razor wire. Shawn doesn't have to guess why the county has gone to such lengths to keep people away from the dam. He's had multiple encounters with something there that would definitely make the county want to keep people away. Locals who live near the dam don't go outside, after dark. They stay inside their homes. Shawn spoke with a man who works at a shop, in the area, who told Shawn that he won't go outside after dark there, either. Tonight's guest, Casey, used to love camping at the seasonal campground he owns, in the White Mountain National Forest, near Lincoln, New Hampshire. The campground is a beautiful place and Casey has gone camping there, every summer, for the past 10 years. It really is a shame, but Casey had an experience at his campground, a few weeks ago, that has forever tarnished the beauty he sees in the woods. It was an experience that was so frightening, so intense, he vomited right before I called him, for the first time, due to him thinking about what happened to him that evening.
