John writes "We owned a home in New Jersey, about three miles northeast of Chestnut, roughly a half hour from Hacklebarney State Park. The house sat on the west side of the Black River Wildlife Management Area and had only been built about three and a half years earlier. I had just returned after enlisting in the United States Navy. Someone dropped me off at the house around 4:30 that afternoon. We had two dogs a Golden Retriever and a little black dog. I let them outside, and the little black dog wandered off into the woods. It was a beautiful day around 75 degrees with a light breeze. I decided I'd take a walk through the woods myself. I headed southeast from the house and walked about 700 or 800 yards before stopping and turning back toward the house. That's when I heard the most god awful sound off to my right. It was incredibly loud, and at the time I had no idea what I was hearing. Later, after hearing other people describe it, I realized it sounded like what many call the 'samurai chatter.' I looked up and saw a berry bush about four feet tall, roughly 40 to 45 yards away. Standing on the other side of it was a massive figure. He looked to be about 6'8″ or 6'10", covered in reddish hair from head to toe. His build reminded me of a fit basketball player wearing shoulder pads, broad and muscular, and imposing. He was facing me, and we just stood there staring at each other. After a few seconds, I couldn't take it anymore, I turned and ran all the way back to the house. Heuer würde der bedeutende deutsche Komponist Hans Werner Henze seinen 100. Geburtstag feiern. Stilistisch zwischen Avantgarde und Postmoderne schuf er ein riesiges Œuvre mit seiner ganz eigenen Tonsprache. Die Sinnlichkeit und die reiche Klangfarbenfantasie seiner Musik lassen kaum jemanden kalt. Mehr als 40 Bühnenwerke hat er komponiert, zehn Sinfonien, Kammermusik und Solistisches wie auch Filmmusik. In seinen Sinfonien widerspiegelt sich unter anderem sein politisches Engagement und das Weltgeschehen im 20. Jahrhundert. Seine 7. Sinfonie bezeichnete er als «diejenige, die dem Modell der klassischen Sinfonie am nächsten kommt». Sie ist viersätzig, beginnt mit einem wilden Tanz, der langsame Satz ist ein berührendes, tiefschürfendes Lied (inklusive Düsternis), das Scherzo ist eine Hommage an den romantischen Dichter Friedrich Hölderlin und die Qualen, die der Poet in der grausamen Autenriethschen Nervenklinik durchleiden musste. Im Finale vertont Henze schliesslich Hölderlins vielinterpretiertes Gedicht «Hälfte des Lebens». Als Henze-Premiere in der Diskothek auf SRF 2 Kultur hören wir dieses eindrückliche Werk des polyglotten, mondänen und «genialen Musik-Verführers», der sich nicht durch den Fortschrittszwang der Avantgarde und deren Dogmen einengen liess. Tonight's guest, Brett Ford, had two encounters with what some people would call Bearwolves, while he and his family were visiting Newfoundland, last summer. The encounters happened in fairly quick succession, on the same night, which makes Brett think they were connected somehow. The two Bearwolves/Dogmen he saw were definitely different creatures, as they looked different from one another. The first one he saw, near Cornerbrook, Newfoundland, had more of an athletic build. The second one he saw was clearly more muscular and had a much more imposing presence to it. What happened the night he had those encounters? In the summer of 2000, on a beautiful, sunny day, tonight's guest, Randy, was driving home down a country road when he saw something that fits the description of being a Werewolf much more so than that of a Dogman. Werewolves don't exist, though. Or do they? Tonight's guest, Rick, had his Dogman encounter one night, in 1990, around dusk. He was sitting in church with his wife, at the time, when he realized he had heard the sermon the pastor was just starting to give. When he realized he had already heard it, he told his wife that he was going to take a ride in his 85 Chevy pickup truck to kill some time. Not long after he had left the church, he turned down a secluded road that hadn't been used in a very long time. It was around 8 PM, so it was dusky/dark outside. To help him see better, he turned the overhead lights on, on his truck's rollbar. Seconds after he did that, he saw a huge creature, that wasn't supposed to exist, start climbing down the trunk of a tree that was about 50 yards from the side of the road. As the monstrosity was climbing down the trunk, Rick could hear its claws tearing the bark. At that point, Rick was rapidly approaching the part of the road that was closest to where the creature was. Curiosity got the best of him, so he stopped his truck and got out. Tonight's guest, Kevin Bennage, had his Dogman encounter in the shadow of the Bighorn Mountains of Wyoming, about 2 miles from home. His encounter left him shaken to the core. Eric used to live in a haunted house and one of the most frightening experiences he's had happened when he was in the shower one night. When he had that experience, he was standing in the shower when all of a sudden, he saw what he thinks was a demon come into the bathroom with him. When he saw that happen, it frightened him so much, he jumped out of the shower, threw his pants on, and ran out of the house. Of course, that experience really shook him up, but it still isn't the most frightening experience he's had. That title belongs to the time he walked right up to 3 Dogmen, before he realized what they were. He came to regret doing that. Tonight's guest, Athena, lives on a very old farm, that's backed by ancient woodlands, in North Wales, in the U.K. Due to how old her farm is, there are some good things that come along with that and some bad. One of the bad things she and her family members have had to deal with is a presence of paranormal entities that have made all of their lives more interesting than what they would prefer. Another thing she's had to learn to deal with is the presence of Dogmen that make their presence known too often for Athena's liking. Unfortunately, when it comes to Dogman encounters, Athena got an early start. You see, she had her first Dogman encounter when she was only 16 years old. It happened late one night when there was a full moon out. That encounter was, by far and away, the most traumatic encounter she's had with a Dogman due, in large part, to where it happened. She was in her own bed, at the time. The one place where you should feel safer than any other. What made that encounter even more traumatic was what the Dogman did after she saw it. Tonight's guest, Cam, was featured on Episodes 528, 542, & 559. On Episode 528, he told us about the night his white American bulldog, named Dallas, gave his life to protect Cam from a Dogman that attacked him. After that show aired, Cam came back on the show to update us on new encounters he'd had with that same Dogman. On his latest show, Episode 559, he told us about the final showdown he had with that Dogman. Well, a few weeks ago, he reached back out to me to let me know about a shocking development.
