Tonight's guest, Sammy Richardson, has been spending time in the woods for about as long as he can remember. He describes himself as being a true woodsman. On the night of May 14th, 2024, Sammy decided he'd try his hand at night fishing for catfish just 500 yards from his home, in Lewis County, West Virginia. He had been fishing at that spot before, without incident, many times. That night would be different, however. That night, something happened that will forever change the way he looks at the woods. Tonight's guest, Nathan, got an early start when it comes to cryptid encounters. He had his first experience in 1972, when he was only two years old. That was when he saw a group of Dogmen that he describes as clearly being supernatural in origin. Fast forward to present day and he has had multiple cryptid-related experiences. Es folgte ein ebenfalls elektrischer Kleinwagen. Denn warum sollten Autos immer größer werden? Günther Schuh ist ständig unterwegs, mit seinem Lehrstuhl an der RWTH Aachen und weit darüber hinaus. Er sagt: Vergessen ist keine Schwäche, sondern eine Kulturtechnik. Wer Neues denken will, muss den Tisch leer räumen können. Günther nennt das nüchtern „systematisches Vergessen“ – nicht, weil Wissen wertlos wäre, sondern weil Festplatten billiger werden und Aufmerksamkeit nicht. Tonight's guest, Athena, lives on a very old farm, that's backed by ancient woodlands, in North Wales, in the U.K. Due to how old her farm is, there are some good things that come along with that and some bad. One of the bad things she and her family members have had to deal with is a presence of paranormal entities that have made all of their lives more interesting than what they would prefer. Another thing she's had to learn to deal with is the presence of Dogmen that make their presence known too often for Athena's liking. Unfortunately, when it comes to Dogman encounters, Athena got an early start. You see, she had her first Dogman encounter when she was only 16 years old. It happened late one night when there was a full moon out. That encounter was, by far and away, the most traumatic encounter she's had with a Dogman due, in large part, to where it happened. She was in her own bed, at the time. The one place where you should feel safer than any other. What made that encounter even more traumatic was what the Dogman did after she saw it. In this episode, we share a listener's account that's been buried for over forty years. Sarah from Bowling Green, Kentucky reached out to us after listening to the show, and what she had to say stopped us in our tracks. In the fall of 1982, Sarah was just eight years old when her family — mom, dad, older brother, and their German Shepherd, Bear — packed up and headed deep into Land Between the Lakes for a weekend camping trip.What started as a perfect Friday night around the campfire turned into something none of them were prepared for.By Friday night, strange howls unlike anything the family had ever heard began echoing through the woods from multiple directions. Something large was circling their camp on two legs. Bear, their loyal protector, charged into the darkness after whatever was out there and never came back. Against her mother's wishes, Sarah's father made the decision to stay one more night.That decision nearly cost them everything. On Saturday night, the creatures came in close. Multiple massive, upright beings — standing over seven feet tall with canine features, glowing amber eyes, and an intelligence that no ordinary animal possesses — stepped to the edge of the firelight and began closing in on the family. Just when it seemed like there was no way out, a deafening vocalization erupted from a nearby ridge. Something Sarah now believes was strikingly similar to the famous Ohio Howl Sasquatch recording from the 1990s. Whatever made that sound sent the creatures running, and the family was able to pack up and escape in the middle of the night.Sarah's story touches on the long and disturbing history of encounters at Land Between the Lakes, the lasting trauma these experiences leave on families, and the possibility that something else — something even more powerful than the creatures that terrorized them — may have stepped in to save their lives.This is a raw, emotional, deeply personal account from a woman who's done keeping quiet. Das Bild des Gekreuzigten, das ihm kurz vor dem Tod hingehalten wurde, wies er mit Verachtung zurück.Was die römischen Inquisitoren damals nur erahnen konnten, hat Volker Reinhard in seiner detektivischen Arbeit zu Brunos Leben und Werk klar herausgestellt. When tonight's guest, April, was younger, she found what she thought was an injured, jet-black dog in the woods, one day. Being the kind soul she was and is, she decided to take him home with her, so she could nurse him back to good health. Due to his jet-black coat, she named him Shadow. As time went by, she came to realize that there was something special about Shadow. He had qualities normal dogs don't have, like piercing, amber-colored eyes that seemed as if they could look right through you. Also, normal dogs don't raise up onto their back legs and walk from the living room window to the front door, so they can look out. Originally, he came on Episode 445, to talk about Dogman encounters he'd had in his main research area. Back when he came on Episode 445 to do that, he viewed the Dogmen in his research to be relatively docile. On Episode 626, however, he came back to tell us about the change in demeanor he's noticed from the Dogmen in that area. He now describes them as being dangerous. On that show, he described the Dogmen in his main research area as being almost docile. Unfortunately, that's all changed. Not long ago, Marshall noticed an abrupt change in the demeanor of the Dogmen in that area. Now, he describes them as being dangerous. The area used to have a lot of visitors but Marshall has noticed that the area rarely has visitors anymore. Marshall has made several disturbing discoveries there, recently. His most disturbing discovery was finding an abandoned, destroyed tent there where the occupant, apparently, felt he was fighting for his life against something dangerous outside his tent. After spending so much time in the woods, he thought he knew about everything out there in them. That confidence came crashing down, one night, in August of 1983, however. That was the night he had just stepped out of his house and found himself literally face to face with what looked to him like a huge, black Werewolf. When he shut the door to his house that night, turned and almost walked right into the thing, it was crouched like it was about to pounce on him. Crystal is the friend Dan told us about who experienced having a Dogman coming into her home too, when she was a little girl. Tonight's guest, Dan Schmidt, was born and raised in Southern Minnesota. When Dan was growing up there, he had what could very easily be the most frightening Dogman encounter that's ever been shared on the show. You see, when he was 9-years-old, Dan and his cousin spent the night at his grandma and grandpa's farm, during winter break. The encounter happened the first night Dan and his cousin were there. When it happened, Dan was laying on the couch, in the living room and his cousin was laying on a make-shift bed his grandma had made, on the living room floor. Some time between 1 and 2 AM, Dan was awoken by a noise. Dan realized that it was the sound of the latch on the door to the back porch, of the house, being worked. Then, he heard that door being opened. Next, he heard slow, heavy footsteps walking across the back porch toward the back door of the house. When he heard those footsteps coming toward the back door, he looked at the back door. To his dismay, he then saw its doorknob turn and then the back door slowly open. What happened next was much more than most people would ever be able to handle. He watched a Werewolf walk into the house. 12 days ago, tonight's guest, Josh, had a Dogman encounter in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan that he's still trying to come to terms with. He was hunting deer at the time and he already knew about Dogmen. The fact that he knew about them, before he had that encounter, helped him deal with the encounter, as it played out, but he didn't leave the experience unscathed. Due to all that tonight's guest has been through, as a direct result of her having the most horrific kind of Dogman encounter, I'm going to keep everything about her totally anonymous. Tonight's guest, Shawn Brackenridge, is a Dogman investigator who doesn't believe in living in your fears. Having said that, even he gets unsettled when he and his research partner visit the area around the Lake Medina Dam, near Mico, Texas. Every time Shawn has visited the dam, the hairs on the back of his neck stand up. The dam is different than any other dam Shawn has seen, when you consider the lengths county officials have gone to, to keep people away from the dam. 7-foot fences surround the dam that are topped with razor wire. Shawn doesn't have to guess why the county has gone to such lengths to keep people away from the dam. He's had multiple encounters with something there that would definitely make the county want to keep people away. Locals who live near the dam don't go outside, after dark. They stay inside their homes. Shawn spoke with a man who works at a shop, in the area, who told Shawn that he won't go outside after dark there, either. Tonight's guest, Casey, used to love camping at the seasonal campground he owns, in the White Mountain National Forest, near Lincoln, New Hampshire. The campground is a beautiful place and Casey has gone camping there, every summer, for the past 10 years.
