Alternate realities galore! In this exciting episode of The Prime Subjective, Chris Newcomer, Mike Henley and Karie Coleman-Hinners discuss two brand new episodes of Star Trek: Prodigy, S2E13 - "A Tribble Called Quest" and S2E14 - "Cracked Mirror." Then, we venture over to Star Trek: Voyager to discuss that time Commander Chakotay also had to deal with a ship split into multiple bizarre alternate realities, S7E10, "Shattered." Enjoy! From the Main Stage of Trek Long Island 2 #treklongisland we are overjoyed to share our interview with Ethan Phillips, Neelix from Voyager and Lolita Fatjo producer of #StarTrekFirstContact and #StarTrekVoyager as well as the upcoming #documentary! Neelix was a primarily Talaxian (also one-eighth Mylean) hybrid who lived in the 24th century. He joined the USS Voyager when it was pulled into the Delta Quadrant by the Caretaker's array in 2371. While Voyager made a seven-year journey through the Delta Quadrant, he served as the ship's chef, morale officer, trade negotiator, "ambassador to the Delta Quadrant" and navigator, in addition to forming close personal friendships with many crew members and becoming a valuable member of the stranded Starfleet crew. Commander Chakotay, who was in charge of personnel on the ship, called him "Without a doubt ... the most versatile member of our crew". #StarTrekVoyager #startrekprodigy #startrekfistcontact #startrek #space #voyager #starfleet #documentary #film #tuvix
When we last left our heroes there were aliens in WW2 because why not, right? Sure. Fine. So we're picking up that thread and it turns out to be a bunch of Temporal Cold War nonsense in "Storm Front", parts 1 and 2. On the plus side it's also the end of that idiot saga. Also this week: a questionable montage, Machine Gun Reed, and Commander Chakotay! Now hear this. Now hear this. On this week's episode of Kirking Off Nate catches Dean doodling obscene things on his iPad, because let's face it - this episode is a bit of a snoozer - but fear not there is still plenty to discuss. B'Elanna's Civil War eyebrows may have obscured her vision when it came to programming a safe word for her weapon of mass destruction. Now, the evil robot missile is on a collision course with a planet full of lizard people, and Janeway is thinking they may have to put the Voyager, with only her and Tukov left onboard, between the errant weapon and the helpless planet. The lads assume that a collective sigh of relief would come over the crew who are tired of flying home, and just looking to settle down, and be done with this ridiculous never-ending journey. Besides, if and when they finally get to Earth, they will be old and rotting on the bridge, and listening to silly parables from Commander Chakotay. In the most controversial movie of all times; Basic Instinct from 1991 , Michael Douglas dines on "Chicken and potatoes a la Roger Murtaugh" during his journey through a rainy Los Angeles to Kim Basingers lavish hillside villa. Chicken and potatoes a la Roger Murtaugh is mentioned twice in various Star Trek series. First in the 1995 episode, "Family Business", of Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, where Captain Sisko is cooking the dish after some successful negotiations. And a second time in the 1999 episode, "Course: Oblivion", of Star Trek: Voyager, in which instance Captain Janeway is preparing it for her weekly dinner with Commander Chakotay. Initiations, Season 2, Episode 2 - Podcaster and comic con host Moisés Chiullán joins Jean to talk about Star Trek’s first Native American main character and a great first officer, Chakotay. We also chose to focus on the episode “Initiations,” in which Chakotay is ensnared in a Kazon rite of passage, to pay tribute to Aron Eisenberg, best known for portraying Nog on Deep Space Nine for seven seasons. Eisenberg passed away this fall at the age of 50. As Robert Beltran noted, “We both had a good time. Aron’s a lot of fun to work with. He’s got a wide range and he can do a lot of things.” RIP, Aron. Host Jean MacDonald with Moisés Chiullan.

Doomed Voyager Relationships - Part 2. In this episode of To The Journey, hosts Zachary Fruhling and Suzanne Williamson continue their two-part discussion on doomed relationships in Star Trek: Voyager. In Part 2, Zachary and Suzanne explore the failed relationship attempts of B'Elanna Torres, Seven of Nine, Commander Chakotay, and Captain Janeway, from B'Elanna's old academy flame on the U.S.S. Equinox (who still wants his sweater back) to Captain Janeway's oddly specific holographic facial hair requirements. We Need to Talk about Chakotay. Unquestionably the character of Commander Chakotay was underutilized in Star Trek: Voyager. But beyond merely being underutilized, some Star Trek fans have developed a form of loathing for Commander Chakotay, partly because of his nonplussed demeanor and partly because of his amalgam of stereotypes about Native American beliefs and spirituality. In this episode of To The Journey, hosts Zachary Fruhling, Kay Shaw, and Suzanne Williamson come racing to Commander Chakotay's defense with a discussion of what they love about, and what was done right with Voyager's intrepid first officer. "Pathfinder" Commentary. Fans of Star Trek: The Next Generation were treated to not just one, but two, Next Generation cast members reprising their roles in the sixth-season episode of Star Trek: Voyager, "Pathfinder": Dwight Schultz as the nervous but endearing Lieutenant Reginald Barclay, and Marina Sirtis as Counselor Deanna Troi. In this episode of To The Journey, hosts Zachary Fruhling and Kay Shaw sit down together for a "Pathfinder" audio commentary while fellow To The Journey host Suzanne Williamson is temporarily lost in some holographic fantasy along with Lieutenant Barclay and Commander Chakotay (who, coincidentally, forgoes a Starfleet uniform in favor of his Maquis leather, both in Lieutenant Barclay's holographic fantasy, and in Suzanne's). Coda. It's safe to say that Voyager fans generally have strong feelings about the third-season episode "Coda." Janeway/Chakotay shippers tend to embrace this episode for its tender and impassioned portrayal of the special bond between Commander Chakotay and Captain Janeway. And although "Coda" suffers from the Voyager reset-button effect (after an impressive number of Janeway death scenes!), "Coda" reveals the depth of affection that the Voyager crew share for their beloved captain. From old-fashioned resuscitation techniques to the contrasting portrayals of tenderness and suspense, hosts Suzanne Williamson, Zachary Fruhling, and Kay Shaw bare their souls about all things "Coda." Commander Chakotay. You love him or you hate him, but it’s hard to feel lukewarm. Everybody has an opinion on the XO of the Voyager, and Tristan, Lorrie, and Char are no different. This week they delve deep into what the writers did well and what they missed out on. Can Chakotay handle an episode all on his own or does he end up like a beloved doctor from another series?
