Redefining Masculinity: A Biblical Perspective on the Modern ManThis episode of Man to Man 360, hosted by Darryl Anderson, explores the concept of masculinity within a Christian context. It discusses the historical and cultural challenges men face in both religious and secular environments, emphasizing the need for a biblical understanding of masculinity characterized by courage, leadership, and faith. The host reflects on personal experiences and discusses how churches have often feminized religious practices, alienating men. Using key insights from the book 'Why Men Hate Going to Church' by David Murrow, the script defines masculinity and addresses men's ministry strategies to re-engage men with church activities. Techniques such as the 'Man Cave' and competitive elements in men's gatherings are suggested as means to foster a masculine and spiritually aligned fellowship.00:00 Introduction to Men's Ministry01:01 Challenges Faced by Men in Church02:10 Welcome to Man to Man 36003:07 Defining Masculinity04:53 Exploring 'Why Men Hate Going to Church'05:42 The Masculine Spirit vs. Feminine Spirit06:30 The Pursuit of Manhood15:03 The Man Cave Experience18:48 Masculinity in Contemporary Society25:37 Conclusion and Final ThoughtsVISIT OUR WEBSITE for Man2Man 360Show is Recorded, Edited and Produced by Darryl D Anderson of Ambassador Media GroupPLEASE SUBSCRIBE to our YouTube page as we need your help getting the word out! How did he get interested in this topic? How did people receive his book and what changed as a result of it? In our digital age, the way people consume content has radically shifted. Yet many churches still deliver monologue-style sermons designed for a reality that no longer exists.I recently interviewed David Murrow, an online preaching coach, who argues: "Preaching stopped working 20 years ago." As audiences migrated to social media and bite-sized videos, the traditional sermon format has struggled to capture attention.Murrow's fascinating proposed solution? A "hybrid preaching" model that blends shareable video segments into live services, mirroring how Jesus communicated profound truths through 38-second parables and object lessons. While acknowledging concerns about online content undermining in-person community, Murrow provides thought-provoking perspectives on adapting the timeless gospel through new mediums and formats, just as the church has done throughout history.Whether you're a pastor, church leader, or Christian wondering how to most effectively share your faith today, you won't want to miss Murrow's insights.Read Executive Summary: https://bit.ly/3VruFcUHost: Rodney CoxEmail us at information@ministryinsights.comTweet us at @Insights_IntlFollow us on LinkedInFollow us on FacebookThe podcast is a production of Ministry Insights. The Rev. Dr. Scott Stiegemeyer is Associate Professor of Theology and Bioethics at Concordia University Irvine; previously, he served as parish pastor of congregations near Pittsburgh, Pa., and Chicago, Ill. In this Kitchen Table Talk conversation, Dr. Stiegmeyer answers burning questions about gender identity and sexuality in biblical Lutheran perspective. What is gender? Is it real? Who gets to define it? How do we define gender vs. Sexuality (or is it even “versus” situation)? What does the Bible teach us about gender and sexuality? What makes our current cultural moment so panic-inducing for biblical Christians? How can Lutherans guard young people from false teaching about gender identity— and lovingly speak God's truth about the beauty of his plan for sexuality to those around them? “The male / female binary within humanity is beautiful, it's good, and it's true,” says Dr. Steigemeyer. “We should marvel at how God has created us to be and that [our marriage relationships] can be fruitful and ... self-giving.” Resources referenced in this episode include the following: Wonderfully Made: A Protestant Theology of the Body by the Rev. We all know we need to be online. David shares how pastors can create better, more engaging content, that grabs your online audiences attention.
Have you ever wondered why it seems like there are always more women than men in the church? Studies show that the average Protestant church is around 61% female and 39% male. Quite the difference, huh? During today's conversation, Jon and Caralee talk to author and video producer David Murrow about what causes men to fall away from the church and what we can do to draw them in again. Our goal at 95Network is to see churches not only grow but flourish. And to reach that goal, we need everyone's help—both men and women!Show Notes: https://www.95network.org/why-men-hate-going-to-church-w-david-murrow-episode-137/Support the show
At this point, most of us know that providing online access to sermons and Sunday services is imperative to reaching people inside and outside of the church. However, many pastors are still hesitant (or even unwilling) to go there. Today's guest, David Murrow, says that "online sermons are the church's welcome center." Currently, people "visit" churches by first finding them online, watching a few sermons, and then coming in person if they like what they've seen. With this in mind, David has recently launched a coaching program to help churches improve their online presence. He's got some great ideas and resources available for pastors who are ready to dive into the online world. I hope you take away some great ideas to try for yourself! In this episode Jon and Les talk with David Murrow about his new course that is helping pastors preach better online sermons. David has spent his career working as a successful television producer, director, and storyteller. He has a passion for helping pastors do a better job of connecting with their audiences both in person and online. David is a great example of someone in our community who is executing the information based pathway of entrepreneurialism as he takes his message and passion and has created a product and service around it. Some of the other topics we discuss in this interview are:Pastors can no longer lean on the “attention monopoly” we have had for so long. Instead, we must recognize that we are now living in the “attention economy.”Pastors need to focus on delivering sermons that are watchable, memorable, and sharable in this new attention economy. We will learn how David came up with the idea to create a course and coaching cohort around the need for helping pastors preach better sermons online.David shares his advice for any pastor who is just getting started down the information based pathway. In the backstage portion of this episode David shares his thoughts on the coming “preaching-pocalypse”. To be more specific, David asserts that the future of preaching will look very different than it does today, and any pastor who refuses to make appropriate adjustments will be left behind.David's Website: DavidMurrow.comResources:Learn how to join us Backstage.Ready to Become an EntrePastor? David Murrow's 2005 book, Why Men Hate Going to Church, was brought up in conversation with my cousin Micah yesterday, and I want to encourage you to read it. The updated and revised version of it from 2011 can be purchased from Amazon here. A good YouTube video summary of it can be found from a speaking event Murrow held at a church in Australia, and you can find that video here. The premise is simple. American churches have a major gender gap. At the time of he first published his book, less than 40% of the adults in churches were men. That means close to two-thirds of churches are made up of women - or at least were 15 years ago. Why do so many more women than men attend most churches? Because American Christianity has made men feel unwelcome. Too many churches cater to women and present a feminized gospel with a Christ who is portrayed as embodying feminine virtues to the exclusion of masculine characteristics. But this, in my view, is evidence that feminism has infected our church culture. The original curse God gave to Eve said that she would have pain in childbirth and that her desire would be to rule over her husband, but he would exercise headship over her. Proverbs tells us that it is better to dwell on the corner of a rooftop than to live with a quarrelsome woman. This being self-evident, many men unfamiliar with the proverb know it instinctively. And when they feel hen-pecked and unwelcome or excluded or marginalized for being masculine men, they opt out. But God has a better design - for the family, the church, the city, state, and nation. And blessing will follow as we embrace that design rather than rebelling against it. --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/garrett-ashley-mullet/message Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/garrett-ashley-mullet/support

To support this ministry financially, visit: https://www.oneplace.com/donate/707/29 Men have a Biblical duty to be the spiritual leaders of their families. How can they fulfill that obligation if they never step foot in a church? Today, as Family Talk continues celebrating their 10thanniversary, you will hear the conclusion of Dr. Dobsons classic interview with author and TV producer, David Murrow. David examines the ways the church has rebuffed dads and husbands, but then identifies the practical steps pastors can take to minister directly to men.
To support this ministry financially, visit: https://www.oneplace.com/donate/707/29 Social research reveals that a meager one in six men in America regularly attend church. On todays classic Family Talk broadcast, Dr. Dobson and author and TV producer David Murrow address this damaging phenomenon. David shares why he believes some men hate going to church, and explains how a lack of dads and husbands in the pews hurts the entire family unit.
Why is there such a gender gap in the western church today? If you look in the Bible, particularly in the Gospels and the book of Acts you see tons of men involved with the church. Men preaching the gospel. Men risking their lives. Men dying martyr's deaths. Yet, why, when we look at the average church today do we see more women than men? Why do we see mostly women involved with doing the work in churches? Why are so many of the ministries of the church targeting women? David Murrow, author of Why Men Hate Going to Church, and I sit down and talk about these issues, why they exist, and most importantly what to do about it. Additionally, we talk about his new book that he’s been working on that takes a deep look at our addiction to screens. In this episode, I interview David Murrow. David is the creator of Churchformen.com and is the author of "Why Men Hate Going To Church". Between making fun of skinny jeans and fake glasses... we examine the state of Praise & Worship music with regards to men and talk about a few practical things we can do as worship leaders to encourage men and boys to sing in church.
In this episode, we draw a line in the sand... There are way too many weak men in the modern Christian church, and it’s been categorized as “acceptable” for far too long. We call it out. We also describe our philosophy on strong Christian manhood. Buckle up. Let's get into it... MEET DAVID MURROW It's Sunday morning. Where are the men? Not in church. The average congregation in North America draws an adult crowd that's more than 60% female. Why do men and boys avoid church? And why do churchgoing men seem so passive and bored? David Murrow has dedicated his life to answering these questions. He's the author of the best-selling book Why Men Hate Going to Church, with more than 150,000 copies in print in 12 languages. He's helped thousands of churches around the world attract, retain and empower men. Murrow is an entertaining speaker who handles this taboo subject with humor and grace. He's a television producer and writer by trade, and brings strong visual content to his presentation. You'll never see church the same way again. Murrow lives with his wife of 33 years, Gina Medaris Murrow, in the bustling metropolis of Chugiak, Alaska. http://churchformen.com
Earlier this year we published an in-depth series about masculinity and the Christian religion — in particular, why it is that in nearly all Christian churches the world over, women outnumber men. One of our sources for that series was a book called "Why Men Hate Going to Church," and on today's show I talk with the author of that book, David Murrow. David and I talk about the significant disparity in the sex ratio of Christian churches, the factors that led to that gender gap, why fewer men in the pews typically leads to an overall decline in congregation attendance, what some churches are doing to make church more “man-friendly," why newer megachurches have been more successful at attracting men than older, smaller churches, and why one branch of Christianity -- Eastern Orthodoxy -- hasn’t suffered the same decline in male attendance that's plagued other traditional denominations. Whether you enjoyed our series on Christianity and manhood, have wondered why you find going to church so unbearable, or simply enjoy discussions on the intersection of faith, culture, and masculinity you’ll love this podcast.
06.11.2016 Wenn Männer sich zurückziehen (Veit Claesberg) In der Beschreibung zum Buch „Warum Männer nicht zum Gottesdienst gehen“ von David Murrow heißt es: „Es ist Sonntagmorgen. Wo sind die Männer? Fußball? Heimwerken und Rasen mähen? Computer? Hobbys? 1. Einleitung 2. Eine angebliche Problematik: Mann & Gemeinde 3. Unsere Situation in Wiedenest 4. Achtung: hirtendienstliche und evangelistische Aspekte 5. Die Herausforderung annehmen: Jesus folgen! Folge direkt herunterladen

First off, let's get the most important part out of the way. Yes...you'll be able to relate to this episode and enjoy it regardless of your spiritual leanings. Weirdly enough, it doesn't matter if you're a man of faith, agnostic, atheist or anywhere in between...chances are extremely likely that you can't stand going to church. In fact, you probably avoid it at all costs. For most of us, that's a foregone conclusion we don't spend much time thinking about. It is what it is. But what happens when you finally sit down and wrestle with the question of 'why'? My co-host David Murrow did exactly that, almost to the point of obsession. The end result is a stream of consciousness that is as brilliant as it is iconoclastic. David is not a preacher or clergyman of any kind. Therefore, there are no 'sacred cows' he has to protect. That means you can expect a no-holds-barred conversation that's likely to fry your circuits. He says all the things everyone else is afraid to, and it all makes perfect sense in the end. Add it all up, and you get one of the most unique episodes ever, and a whole lot of fun. Where have all the men gone? One of the main reasons men have stopped going to church altogether is the way they view Christianity and Jesus himself. Men are very particular about the type of people they follow. All of my leadership studies have shown people, men, in particular, will not follow a lesser leader. Of you have been in the workforce you have experienced this yourself. Think of a boss you have ever had that you thought was incompetent, under-qualified and an all-around idiot. Did that make it easy to get up in the morning to go to work? How long did you keep that job? Men take this a step further with Jesus. We look at him and all depends on how we view him on whether or not we get up and go to church. David Murrow says that over the years he has offered this quiz to thousands of people of all religions and backgrounds believer or not. And over 90% of the time people much like I am sure you did have chosen set B to more closely describe Jesus. Here is the fun part, it is a trick question… The list is from the book Men Are from Mars, Women Are from Venus. Set A is used to describe men and set B is used to describe women. This is how we view Jesus today. Men do not want to follow a feminine man into spiritual battle. We talked about the gender gap last week. This week I want to show you how we can fix this gap, not just in this church, but all churches. We need to get men active in the church. They need a place to serve and it is up to the church give them an opportunity to serve. Men don’t want to sit in the pews and do nothing. “Men are not led into action unless there is danger involved.” What we have now is a church that is culturally relevant but not spiritually relevant. To men, it’s like have a men’s softball league that never plays a single game. They get together every week sometimes two or three times a week and talk about playing. They go over the fundamentals they read books on it and watch videos about softball but they never play. Why would a man stay in that league for very long? He wouldn’t!!! This is a typical church today. We get together and talk about what the church should do in this world to change it and then we never actually do any of them. To the men of the world, we are all talk and no action. What can we do to bring the men back to church? We need to get back to the model of the first church. We need to get out and fish for men!!! Jesus called his first church leaders and told them he was going to make them fishers of men. Let’s look at this in scripture. The first calling. Scripture: Luke 5: 1-11. When faced with the true character of Christ Simon was changed. He followed Jesus and made a difference in the world. He followed him in a real authentic relationship. If men were to get to know Christ for themselves, they would follow him without hesitation. I am going to do my best to help us get men back into this church. I will not sleep until I have made a difference in this church. when I am done with this church I will go out into the world with the men I will equip to help change the world. The best way to do that is to go fishing. We have to fish for men right where we are. Start fishing!!!! Today the Trail Life boys are going fishing and you can bet I am going to talk to them about fishing. It is what Jesus would do so who am I to argue with perfection? I am sending you home with a decal. You can put it on your car or wall at home. you can get a picture frame and put a cool background in it and put it on the glass. there are lots of things you could do with it. I just want you to remember to fish it is the best way to a biblical church. we need fishers, not SeaWorld employees. I'm begging you FISH!!!!

Dave Murrow, Joel Fieri and Jefferson Drexler discuss strategies American churches can use to effectively engage the men and boys of their congregations. The start of a series to evaluate and understand better why our churches are seeing fewer men attend and serve. This message looks at how awkward and negative we have made our church experience for men. It poses the question, "What should we do at our church to be more effective in reaching and retaining men?" and makes a challenge to make strides to do so. Based on David Murrow's research and teachings.
There is a tendency for men to revert back to boyhood with certain activities and judgment especially when that man has a lack of vision for his life. This message is a call for men to be Godly and lead their families. It is a message that exposes a problem and challenges all men to be real men of God. Based on the research and teachings of David Murrow.
