Welcome to #2 of our 40th Anniversary Deep Dive Album Spotlight. Last time we focused on Motley Crue's "Theatre of Pain", an album that epitomized 'Hair Metal'. This time we're going to the opposite end of the spectrum.   NY thrashers Anthrax' second effort "Spreading The Disease" was an important album. Not just for the band, but the Metal underground in general. Along with some of their Big 4 brethren's key releases, the album introduced a more mainstream audience to the  awesomeness that is Thrash Metal. It's also an old fave of ours that still gets turntable time. Society System Decontrol (SSD) self-released several landmark hardcore punk records in the early 80s. Out of print for over 4 decades, SSD has only recently reissued their two masterpieces "The Kids Will Have Their Say" and "Get It Away" on vinyl. I found myself in Chicago for Riot Fest in 2012, I somehow jumped into a cab with Springa from SSDecontrol aka SSD and Tony Brummel, the owner of Victory Records and headed to a punk rock bar called The Exit. This interview with Springa happened in front of The Exit. We talked about who he is, the straight edge movement, his new band Springa Sonic Droogs & the documentary ALL AGES on Boston Hardcore.
