Does fear of rejection hold you back from letting people see the real you? Are you tired of hiding? Gail Porter, author of Will the Real Person Please Stand Up? lived with this kind of fear during her childhood and most of her adult life. When God revealed her bondage to the power of fear, she was set free to come out of hiding and become who He'd created her to be. ______________________________________________________________________________ Look for HOPE is Here: - at www.HOPEisHere.Today - on Facebook - https://www.facebook.com/HOPEisHereToday - on Instagram - https://www.instagram.com/hopeisherelex/ - on X (Twitter) - https://www.x.com/hopeisherelex - on TikTok - https://www.tiktok.com/@hopeisherelex - on YouTube - https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCtJ47I4w6atOHr7agGpOuvA Help us bring HOPE and encouragement to others: - by texting the word GIVE to 833-713-1591 - by visiting https://www.hopeisheretoday.org/donate #Lexington #Kentucky #christianradio #JesusRadio #Jesus #WJMM #GregHorn #GregJHorn #suicideprevention #KentuckyRadio #HOPEisHere #Hope #HopeinJesus #FoodForThoughtFriday #MondayMotivation #FridayFeeling #Motivation #Inspiration #cupofHope #FYP #ForYouPage #SuicideAwareness
This month is Alopecia Awareness Month, and joining Kieran to discuss what it's like living with Alopecia is Claire Fulham, Trichologist from Trua Trichology Clinic and Gail Porter, TV Presenter, Broadcaster and Charity Ambassador.
Gail Porter found herself with a desire to help others through some of the difficult times that she herself faced. Having experienced profound loss and a sense of rejection in her own background, Gail was inspired to write, and now several books are the fruit of her own personal pain. Her latest book tells the stories of several people, and how they have found true freedom, just as Gail did.
Gail Porter is one of the most recognisable names in the country after becoming the poster child for the Britpop generation, and her subsequent star-making career as one of the most sought-after TV presenters in the UK. Gail talks candidly to me about her time as a presenter on kids' TV to the infamous incident of her nude photo being projected onto the Houses of Parliament. The discussion takes a more serious turn as they discuss her battle with mental health, including depression and being sectioned, and the terrifying invasion of privacy by the press that followed, as well as the impact it had on her life and career. KEY TAKEAWAYS Gail has been open about her struggles with mental health, including depression, and has used her experiences to raise awareness and support others. You can find solace and purpose in charity work, particularly in supporting causes related to mental health and animal welfare. If you've beaten a challenge, then the next challenge is to help others do the same. Despite facing adversity, Gail maintains a positive and resilient attitude, finding ways to make the best of difficult situations and using her platform to help others. Gail's sense of humour and authenticity have endeared her to many, and she continues to inspire and connect with people through her work and personal experiences. BEST MOMENTS "I want to get out of London for a bit – even if I just have a year of going AWOL!” “I enjoy everything – even when bad things happen” “You're not treated like a human being. April Baker CEO of the amazing charity Together CO talks to us about the great work they do in the Brighton and Hove area, creating connections to change lives to reduce social isolation and loneliness in their city and beyond. We were also lucky enough to speak with one of their Ambassadors, TV presenter and mental health advocate Gail Porter. Gail talks very openly about her own experiences with loneliness, how she became homeless and how she now supports Together Co in anyway she can. https://togetherco.org.uk/Subscribe to our YouTube channel
Our guest this week personifies both resilience and kindness. Through her own struggles, she offers hope to others. From her ambassadorship of mental health and homelessness charities, to her newly forged comedy career, this woman never stops giving. Gail Porter's anger is directed mostly towards social injustice, and she targets little of it towards those who have wronged her. We were bowled over by this woman, and think you will be too. Gail Porter is an absolute trailblazer. A proud Scot, TV Presenter, Writer, Broadcaster and now stand-up comedian, joining Are You Sitting Uncomfortably? fresh from the Edinburgh Fringe. She is perhaps best known for shows such as Fully Booked and Top of the Pops, and that infamous image on the Houses of Parliament which she reflects on this special episode recorded in front of an audience. Today Gail is a role model to many, from her BAFTA-winning documentary Being Gail Porter where she shared her mental health journey, to being an advocate for many charities and good causes. In this launch episode of series two of Are You Sitting Uncomfortably? host Gemma Greaves and Gail explore her experiences of living with anxiety, being incorrectly sectioned, and the uncomfortable truths of the TV industry. Listen and follow now to meet the incredible people who all have a story and who are all ready to sit uncomfortably.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
Gail Porter's most recent incarnation is in comedy and storytelling related to her experiences of mental ill health, homelessness and hair loss - something she likes to share in the hope it helps other people. Emma Tracey grabbed an interview with her in Edinburgh recently. Sisters, Hermon and Heroda Berhane are fashion influencers. They are also identical twins and are deaf. They had no idea that sign language or Deaf culture existed until they arrived in the UK from their original home in Africa, but they soon took it all on board. Find out more about them in our interview. You can visit them on the web here: beinghermonheroda.com This is the last of our summer interview editions. Access All returns to its usual form next week. Hey Everyone! It's Bridget Marquardt here with a brand new episode of Ghost Magnet! Todays guest is Janice Oberding. Janice Oberding as seen on History Channel, Travel Channel, Syfy Channel, Discovery+, Living TV, Fox Family; she was instrumental in getting two/four productions (Great Britain) to come to Nevada to film several episodes of the TV series Dead Famous with Gail Porter and Chris Fleming. Recently she was interviewed about Virginia City ghosts and history for the YouTube channel show Sam and Colby. The 2004 premier print issue of Ghost Magazine named Janice as one of three pioneer icons in the paranormal field, along with Hans Holzer and Peter James. She is thankful to be around to still boast about that. I know I say this every week but I am truly sooo excited to hear all of Janice's stories about so many places that are close to home for me and some that I have great interest in. All that plus Lisa Morton's Ghost Report, this week on Ghost Magnet with Bridget. #HauntedVirginiaCity #HauntedLakeTahoe #HauntedReno #Tonapah #Goldfield #Ghosts #Haunted #GirlsNextLevel
Gail needs no introduction, many of you will have seen her before, heard parts of her story. But what you may not have picked up over the years and in all those articles written and TV shows, is what a good, kind, funny women Gail is. We laughed a lot during this episode! Witty and honest, Gail talks about the death of her parents, the highs and lows of being a media personality, her love of giving back, and gives us an insight into her music taste…oh so different to mine. One of my most favourite guests, get ready to laugh with, and love, Gail Porter.

Something different to usual on this feed. I thought I'd let you know that I'm going to be posting series one of one of my other podcasts, Shame, within The James McMahon Music Podcast hub. There's eleven episodes in said series, and they take in interviews with author and broadcaster Jon Ronson, podcaster and exoneree Amanda Knox, journalist Rachel Cunliffe of The New Statesman and author Kat Rosenfield. There's also TV presenter Gail Porter, as well as lots of others, and the podcast – which originally aired on its own feed last year – concerns the negative, perhaps useless, self-eviscerating emotion that's used to control us, crush us, and keep us locked in misery.I've got a lot to say about shame, as do many of the people I know. Shame is a podcast about cancel culture, about mental health, about looking for freedom from guilt and regret, and it just seemed daft that the two podcasts lived on separate feeds. Expect a wad of episodes to follow soon – and sooner than you'd think, season two! And hey, if Shame isn't for you, you can just skip these episodes and stick with the music. There's no shame in that…Watch the Shame trailer here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eol_N71aBQA&t=10s
This episode originally aired on August 17th, 2021. ***On episode four of Shame, host James McMahon has a conversation with the British broadcaster Gail Porter. He's been watching Gail on the television since he was a teenager. He may even have had a poster of her on his wall during those formative years! And this conversation duly hangs around an incident that took place during the final months of the 20th century, when the now defunct - but once hugely popular - men's magazine FHM beamed Gail's naked rear, without her knowledge or consent, onto the walls of London's Houses Of Parliament. We also cover the alopecia that arrived in Gail's life half a decade or so later, and her subsequent homelessness and mental illness. But you know what? There's more fun and more joy for existence in the episode than the majority of episodes of Shame that have come prior. Because Gail is brilliant. A hero. It's unlikely you'll think otherwise. And if you do? She really, sincerely, truly doesn't care!Shame is a Spoook Media production. Spoook is also a record label, a promoter, a shop, a Substack - it's many things. Welcome to Proper Mental episode 73 with BAFTA winning documentary maker and TV personality Gail Porter! Gail shot to fame in the 90's through children's TV shows including Live and Kicking, Fully Booked and Top of the Pops and she has been a regular feature in the media since then. Throughout this time Gail struggled with her mental health and is now a well-known advocate and speaker. In 2020 Gail won a BAFTA for her documentary ‘Being Gail Porter' which documented her life long struggle with mental health issues whilst dealing with a life lived in the public eye. Gail and I chat about mental health in the 90's, having her phone hacked, being sectioned and not wanting a diagnosis. We also chat about the process of making her film, everything that came with that process and what it's like to win a BAFTA. Gail is one of the warmest and most kind hearted people I have met through this podcast and it was absolutely lovely to chat to her! Hello and welcome to a three in one day drop. This week we look at radio or lockdown radio if you will. How has 2020/21 effected radio from the people spinning (not sure spinning still happens) the tunes. In this the second part of a mini trilogy, we speak to Tom Bright the founder of Islington radio about how he used 2020 to pivot and create an online radio station. We also speak to Gail Porter about her role as a dj on this new radio station. It was nice to meet Tom and Gail and talk about using this time for positive reasons. Thank you to Tom and Gail for speaking to us.

In this episode I talk to BAFTA award-winning presenter and author, Gail Porter, who in her own words, did the 90s properly, we talk about life in lockdown, Piers Morgan in his Union Jack white fronts, and what it's like to be homeless in London. Just a little health warning, our conversation strays into eating disorders, disordered eating and self-harm. But mainly it's about the effervescent life of Gail Porter. She's a gorgeous human being, who I count on as a friend, having first met her at a V Festival many, many years ago. Remember those days when we could go and see live bands.Visit the Tom Watson website - https://tom-watson.com/Subscribe to my weekly musings - https://mailchi.mp/576542a8edb9/tom-watsonFollow me on Instagram - https://www.instagram.com/tomwatsonofficial/ Hosted on Acast. Gail Porter and Justin Price (aka Big Pappa) are both bloody lovely people and listener favourites, so when they came up with the idea of both coming on at the same time we couldn't say no.We probably should have and do not condone any of the madness that comes out if this episode. To think Gail lowers herself to hand out with these 3 reprobates is beyond any of us.BECOME A PATRON AND PICK YOUR OWN TOP 5HARDCORE LISTING ON TWITTER HARDCORE LISTING ON INSTACOME LEAVE US A ROTTEN 5 STAR REVIEW ON FACEBOOKSPONSORS:LOVE BEERBANG BOOM CREATIVEwww.eggfried.comSTORE:https://sosclothing.co.uk/collections/hardcore-listing-podcast See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.

We get the scoop on the incredible life of Gail Porter. From the highs of hosting prime TV shows such as Top Of The Pops and The Big Breakfast to the lows of alopecia and mental breakdown, no stone goes unturned. We go full circle as Gail shares the recent BAFTA success of the BBC Documentary, Being Gail Porter.
TV presenter Gail Porter is one of the most likeable people I've chatted to, and we speak about a lot - the 90s, fame, and the stigma of mental health. If I was the sort of person who used the phrase "all round good egg" then there would be no more apt application than Gail Porter.Support this show http://supporter.acast.com/the-owen-jones-podcast. The multi talented and quite frankly hilarious, Gail Porter, joins Dr Linda for a chat about her life, love and all that's in between. Tracing everything from the unexpected catalyst that ignited her passion for broadcasting at a young age, the Top of the Pops years, that infamous Houses of Parliament stunt through to her astounding resilience through well documented battles with mental health and Alopecia, all the way to the sheer joy of being a mum to her teenage daughter. Huge thanks to Gail for being so generous with her time and her words with us. Keep up to date with what Gail is up to on Twitter @gailporter and Instagram @iamgailporter Merry Christmas x
