On December 18, 1975, George and Kathy Lutz moved their family into their new house on Ocean Avenue in Amityville, NY, where, just one year earlier, Ronald DeFeo Jr. had murdered all six members of his family. Twenty-eight days later, the Lutz family fled the home, leaving behind all their belongings and vowing never to return again. According to the Lutzes, their time in the house on Ocean Avenue was a nightmare of psychic attacks and demonic activity that put them in fear for their lives.The supposed experience of the Lutz family served as the basis for the iconic haunted house story, The Amityville Horror, and the countless films adapted from or inspired by the original novel. Hans Holzer was a well-known broadcaster and author in the United States, perhaps the most famous 'ghost hunter' of his day. In 1965 and 1966, he made research visits to Ireland. In Dublin, he heard some amazing stories, and went in search of ghosts in some familiar and lesser-known places.

Anthony S. Picco started on his metaphysical path in the 1960's when he stumbled upon Hans Holzer's “ghost hunting” books in the local public library. In the 1970s he took the Silva Mind Control course. By 1982 he started to read the collected books of The Seth Material, and in 1986, he hung out his shingle as a professional astrologer. Parapsychologist, mentalist, and author Loyd Auerbach speaks with Liz of WTF Just Happened?! and Darren of Seeking I. Darren is a self described "lay researcher of consciousness focused on anomalous experience and life beyond physical death." Loyd is a leading parapsychologist in the field with a masters degree in Parapsychology. He is one of the main teachers at The Rhine Education Center and he is Vice President of the Forever Family Foundation. He has been doing this research for over 42 years and has authored and co-authored many books on the remarkable things he has learned and encountered as he examines if we survive death, if there really are ghosts, and many more inexplicable anomalous phenomena. Loyd takes a scientific, healthily skeptical, and logical approach to this phenomena. In this episode Loyd answers if he always thought there was an afterlife or paranormal abilities. Being part of a parapsychology club in high school opened his mind up early to the possibility of the paranormal being real. He also read many books at a young age by the top parapsychologists of the day such as JB Rhine and JG Pratt. He was also influenced by TV shows, sci-fi and comic books. He was thrilled that at a young age he also got to meet top parapsychologists through his high school group such as Hans Holzer, Montague Ullman and Gertrude Schmeidler. Overall he pursued a career in parapsychology because he realized it was something that seemed to be a mystery that that we need to study in science. He also thinks humans have much more abilities to be psychic than we realize. In fact, all of us possess some psychic abilities, but to varying degrees of course. Skeptics vs pseudo skeptics. There is a difference. Real skeptics are curious and question everything.Pseudo skeptics dismiss everything without examination or consideration regardless of the evidence. They are not so different than true believers, in that they go in knowing the answers. Many skeptics make claims and draw conclusions on studies in the field of parapsychology, yet openly admit they never read the books or studies that they are commenting on. Loyd had some amazing experiences in his over 40 years of research. He shares two of the most remarkable things he encountered, that also were verified. One involved Lois the ghost who came to "visit" a family and formed a friendship with the family's teenage son. Loyd investigated and he was amazed at some twists and turns. There was no logical explanation for what happened. Loyd also shares the two times he went out of body and something happened that verified he really was out of body. He credits those experiences to working with a top psychic medium, Alex Tanous who the FBI and police departments secretly worked with.
