Amanda Knox's every move has been scrutinized for nearly all of her adult life. The murder of Meredith Kercher and the subsequent arrest, trial, conviction, imprisonment, acquittal and release of Knox, then her retrial, second conviction, and ultimately her definitive exoneration by Italy's Supreme Court in 2015 is a story that has made headlines around the world for almost twenty years. Amanda is now 37, a wife to author and podcaster Christopher Robinson, and a mother of two children, Eureka and Echo, but still - as she puts it to ITV News' Lucy Watson - she is "forever branded the girl accused of murder."Amanda Knox speaks to Lucy Watson for ITV News' What You Need To Know.Full interview on YouTube: https://youtu.be/RlcpJ_2L3c0

Amanda Knox returns for a fascinating conversation with Bridget about her wild ride from wrongful conviction to reclaiming her life, as detailed in her new book, Free. She candidly examines how she survived prison and what life looked like on the other side, wrestling with trust (and distrust), her relationship with the media, and the realization that when you pray to God for strength He doesn't give you strength, He gives you the opportunity to be strong. They discuss what made her want to go back to Italy and sit down with the man who prosecuted her in court, the reasons behind the toxic relationship she entered after she was freed, what freedom truly means, and what she's hoping people will take from the book. Look no further for a true story of strength and resilience in the face of the unimaginable. Can you tell if someone is guilty just by looking at them? Let's delve into the infamous case of Amanda Knox, the American exchange student who was wrongfully accused of murdering her roommate in 2007. We'll talk bad cell phone forensics, media sensationalism, and cultural biases, and how they can lead to dire consequences for those who are judged not by evidence, but by how they act differently than society expects them to.ResourcesAmanda Knox websiteSentence of the Court of Assizes of Perugia in the Murder of Meredith KercherTalking to Strangers: What We Should Know about the People We Don't KnowTeacher Recorded Laughing During Apalachee School Shooting May Have Been the Bravest Person in the RoomVideo of teacher laughing during school shootingCentral Park jogger case.Send us a textDigital Disruption with Geoff Nielson Discover how technology is reshaping our lives and livelihoods.Listen on: Apple Podcasts SpotifySupport the showJoin our Patreon to listen ad-free!
Three repeat guests who collectively brought almost nothing new to the table. Amanda Knox wrote a book and wants to try stand up comedy. Aaron Rodgers continues to be a pompous asshole. And Jimmy Carr is great but the guys couldn't agree on his episode. It's beginning to feel like Joe has access to the same 200 people and can't seem to venture far outside that group. Enjoy!
In 2009, Amanda Knox was wrongly convicted of the murder of her roommate, Meredith Kercher. She should have been a footnote in a tragic story. But despite zero physical evidence linking her to the crime, she spent four years in prison. Amanda was vilified by the press and made infamous as ‘Foxy Knoxy' in the tabloids. After eight years on trial, she was finally exonerated in 2015. And yet, her release from prison was only the beginning of Amanda's search for freedom. Who was she now that the world had branded her a killer?Today, Amanda is a writer, podcaster, and advocate for criminal justice and media ethics. She joins Crime Story to discuss her new book, Free: My Search for Meaning. If you like this episode, we think you'll enjoy our conversation with Maurice Chammah.Feedback for us? It's a quick but full episode this week where we cover, Black Bag, Adolescence, Long Bright River, and Stillwater. Kevin immediately thrust Lauren into the limelight, as the she just finished Black Bag not long before recording. It's sexy(ish) spy thriller(ish) starring Michael Fassbender and Cate Blanchett. It's a hair less sexy and exciting than Lauren was expecting, but it was an overall solid film. Next up, Kevin talk about one of his favorite show in recent years, Adolescence on Netflix. It's a fascinating show from a technical standpoint, as every episode is done in a single take. The amount of work that went into just that is staggering! Add to that some amazing performances and a fantastic story, and this show should be very popular come award season. Note that the story is not a mind bender. It won't trick you with plot twists or keep you guessing. It is all about emotion and delivers in spades. Lauren takes over the rest of the show, as Kevin didn't watch much this week. So her next watch is Long Bright River on Peacock. It stars Amanda Seyfried as a police officer with a unique attachment to the impoverished women in her area. The story takes a turn as her sister goes missing, also. Lauren hasn't finished the series and isn't necessarily blown away by it, but she's interested enough to finish, so there's that... The show closes with Lauren taking us back in time to 2021 with the film Stillwater. If you're familiar with the Amanda Knox story, this film will make a lot of sense. A 20-something woman in France is arrested for and convicted of murder. Her father, a blue collar man with a checkered history in Stillwater, Oklahoma, travels to France to be by her side and help with her defense. It's a solid drama and probably Lauren's favorite pick of the week. As always, thank you for watching. If you haven't already, don't forget to Like & Subscribe. We love new viewers! Also, leave us comments and let is know how we are doing and what we can be doing better. Enjoy the episode and have a great week! Seven years after Amanda Knox was definitively acquitted of the 2007 murder of Meredith Kercher, she flew to Italy to meet the man who had led the prosecution's case against her, Giuliano Mignini. The now 37-year-old mother of two wanted to ask her former prosecutor why he had identified her as the chief suspect, pursued a murder conviction against her, and whether he felt any remorse for putting the wrong person in prison. In her new memoir, Free: My Search for Meaning, Knox details this emotional meeting, the years leading up to it, and the shadow her wrongful conviction cast over her life. The book explores the power of acceptance and forgiveness, and how to cope with life's most challenging moments. In this conversation with Róisín Ingle, Knox talks about the fear and confusion of being accused of such a serious crime, how she reclaimed her identity when she finally walked free, and why what happened to her made her the person she is today. Amanda spent a total of 4 years in an Italian jail before she was exonerated by Italy's highest court in 2015.In a wide-ranging and candid conversation, Amanda talks about the methods she used, and the hope she leaned on, in order to get through her time behind bars. Amanda knows about living inside other people’s preconceptions. When she was 22 years old, she was sentenced to 26 years in prison for a murder she didn’t commit. In 2007, on a study-abroad program in Perugia, Italy, Amanda’s roommate Meredith Kurcher was raped and murdered. The police and the tabloids pinned it on “Foxy Knoxy,” calling Amanda a sex-crazed murderer. After spending almost a decade in the labyrinth of the Italian criminal justice system, Amanda was fully exonerated. Today, she lives in her hometown of Seattle and, with her husband, has a podcast called Labyrinths about the mazes we find ourselves in. Investigative journalists Mandy Matney and Liz Farrell continue shining sunlight on the Mica Francis story. On today's episode, a former church member being sued by JP Miller turns the tables on him with a fiery counterclaim. According to court filings, THREE DAYS before Mica's death, JP asked this church member to write “Dedicated to Mica” on the website of the church's Dare2Care program, a mission that was important to Mica. Was this unfortunate timing? Or does this point to something more nefarious? The former church member also accuses JP of using his pulpit to shame and bully Mica and of retaliation after the church member and his wife decided they'd had enough of him and left the church. Also on the show, in one of the most deranged calls to 911 yet, JP tells police that protesters are yelling the 'n-word' at church members and could “pull a gun” at any minute and he describes them as blondes, wearing sweaters and no makeup. Was this JP setting the stage for the lawsuits he filed five days later? Plus, an update in the Sara Lynn Colucci case and Christa Bauer case. This episode gets deeper into these very twisted stories... Let's dive in...
