From a personal perspective, in a world where technology has opened up endless opportunities for self-expression and connection, podcasting has emerged as a powerful uncensored platform for people to share their voices, ideas, and stories. For me, podcasting has become more than just a hobby or a means of entertainment; it has been a transformative experience that has allowed me to create, collaborate, and be a part of something bigger than I ever imagined. One of the most magical aspects of podcasting is the opportunity to collaborate with people from all walks of life. I have had the privilege of interviewing fascinating individuals, experts in their fields, and everyday people with extraordinary stories to tell. Relationships are the highest form of currency in my world. In this episode, my friend and previous podcast guest Jason Greystone returns, as we share our mutual love for podcasting and how it has enriched both our lives in so many unexpected ways. In this episode, we delve into the importance of freeing Julian Assange and the powerful documentary film that sheds light on his story. We explore the psychological torture that Assange has endured and emphasise the urgent need for public awareness and activism. The film 'Trust Fall' features renowned celebrity advocates such as Roger Waters, MIA, Susan Sarandon, and Tom Morello, who lend their voices to the cause. This week I'm on a mission with Kym Staton, the director of the documentary film 'Trust Fall'. In our interview, we delve into the challenges faced during the making of the film and the significance of press freedom. We discuss the need for urgent global action to protect truth and transparency, highlighting the critical role that Assange's case plays in safeguarding journalism and free speech. Julian's courage in bringing to light US war crimes has seen him spend five years in a maximum security prison with a far worse punishment awaiting him if he gets extradited to the US. Every journalist or content creator needs to get behind this. Freedom of speech is under attack! A journey both personal and political, Matt Embry's is an award-winning documentary filmmaker on a mission to get some answers to a medical mystery. If no one knows the causes or cures for multiple sclerosis, then why are so many MS charities touting drugs (with considerable side effects) that don't work in the long term? And why does the FDA drag its feet on approving promising non-pharmaceutical cures? And why won't the powers that be in the MS establishment listen to the director himself, diagnosed with the disease over two decades ago, and who through only strict diet and exercise, remains healthy and surprisingly asymptomatic? These are the questions that Matt Embry has dedicated his life to finding out, the obvious answers lie buried in the bottom line of Big Pharma — a risky diagnosis to make. This interview is fascinating not only for anyone with an autoimmune disease, but for all of those who believe in living a life without limitations. The mindset, courage, and resilience that Matt has shown is inspiring millions of people across the world. Repeatedly faced with hardship and adversity, Matt speaks candidly about his rock bottom, the mental health challenges he's faced and overcome, and how finding spirituality saved his life. In this week's episode, I'm joined by Matt Pink, also known as The Better Life Guy. Matt is the bestselling author of the book called 'Better Me Better You'. He is a speaker, coach, and sober influencer, making a significant impact in the sober community through sharing his creative, funny, and direct approach to choosing sobriety. Like many of us, Matt Pink was immersed in the "work hard, play hard" lifestyle, prioritising ambition and partying over his own mental health. We talk candidly about how his relationship with alcohol deteriorated after the tragic death of his young son and how this led to him losing everything. The comeback started for him after a chance spiritual encounter. Initially sceptical, a meeting with a stranger (ironically in the pub!) led to Matt completely turning his life around. In this episode, it's not all about sobriety as we delve into other areas of wellness, self-development, and how hitting rock bottom can be the catalyst needed to find your true passion. This week I continue my incredible conversation with one of humanity's great survivors - Lurata Lyon. In this shocking second part, Lurata recounts her escape from Kosovo, the brutal interrogation she endured, and the psychological and physical abuse she suffered. She reflects on the strength she found in her memories of her family and the power of choosing to be a survivor. We also explore Loretta's journey to the UK as a political asylum seeker and the support she received from her uncle and the government. This powerful episode highlights the importance of resilience and the ability to find hope in the face of unimaginable adversity. KEY TAKEAWAYS Lurata experienced extreme trauma and abuse during a period of conflict in Kosovo. Despite the horrific experiences, Lurata found the strength and resilience to survive and endure. Lurata now stresses the importance of choice in how one reacts to and overcomes difficult circumstances. The value of family and the power of love and support in times of adversity cannot be emphasised enough. The power of your loved ones can get you through the worst tribulations. Lurata now encourages others to own their experiences and use them to create positive change in their lives BEST MOMENTS "I had to go back home because I had to leave Kosovo. It was dangerous. And these people, I don't know how soon after my interview they got arrested, but they were still at large." "I was lucky not to have been executed on the spot. So in a way, I was like, don't worry, they're being nice." "I was so exhausted, emotionally I was exhausted and I was just sitting there with the two soldiers speaking to them." "I said, Dad, what took you so long? I didn't know what to say, to be honest. That's the first thing I said." Prepare for a powerful, and shocking story this time as I am joined by Lurata Lyon to discuss her incredible story of survival and resilience. Lurata shares her experiences of being kidnapped and abused during a war in former Yugoslavia, and how she managed to escape certain death. Despite the trauma she endured, Lurata's story is one of inspiration and empowerment. She emphasises the importance of forgiveness and using pain as a catalyst for personal growth. Lurata's journey is a testament to the strength of the human spirit and serves as a reminder to draw strength from our own experiences. KEY TAKEAWAYS Lurata went through a traumatic experience but has healed and wants to inspire others to find strength and learn from their own pain. She now focusses on the importance of forgiveness, not only for others but also for oneself. Having faced negativity and trolling on the internet you'd expect Lurata to feel like giving up, but she remains true to herself and encourages others to be open-minded and do their own research before making assumptions. Lurata's childhood was filled with love and happiness, but she experienced the horrors of war and had to escape for her own safety. Survival was a result of a combination of luck, the bravery of her uncle, and the intervention of two American police officers who provided her with shelter and support. BEST MOMENTS I didn't want anyone to know who I was, what I was, what I've been through. So 20 years of silence." "I was so young and I was so innocent. I was just a teenager. The fact that we survived, nobody questions why we didn't get killed." "I just I need to go to the Red Cross because you know I explained the situation and they said no she can't go to the Red Cross we we can give her shelter in our apartment for now." "They were my family, they were everything for me. I mean, we see Superman on movies and we think that's how heroes should be, wearing a cape or Spider-Man and this and that. This week I am joined once more by the one and only Daniel Priestley, to discuss the impact of AI technology and blockchain on various industries. They reflect on the rapid advancements in AI technology, particularly the emergence of generative AI and its potential to transform businesses and professions. Daniel shares insights on how AI is revolutionising fields such as law, medicine, and even entrepreneurship. They emphasise the importance of AI awareness for careers advisors and highlight the need for individuals to adapt and integrate AI into their lives. The conversation also delves into the power of AI in influencing consumer behaviour and enhancing productivity for creators, looking at the significance of sweating the small stuff at different stages of the entrepreneurial journey and the importance of adapting to the changing landscape of technology. KEY TAKEAWAYS The advancement of AI technology, particularly in the form of generative AI, has the potential to significantly impact various industries and professions. AI has two superpowers: the ability to get people to consume more than they intended and the ability to help people create more than they could on their own. The future of AI will bring about a two-speed economy, with superstar creators who can leverage AI to create at an unprecedented scale and consumers who may be overwhelmed by AI-driven consumption. The key to success in the AI-driven future is to adapt and integrate AI into one's business or career, as it has the potential to revolutionise various aspects of society. The world is on the brink of a major transformation, and while it may be daunting, embracing and surfing the waves of change can lead to exciting opportunities and growth. BEST MOMENTS "AI has two superpowers. Superpower number one is the ability to get you to consume more than you thought you wanted to consume." "The most important thing is that if you're doing it, do it for the right reasons." "The trick is testing a few different offers to see what is it they want that's different to the content, that's valuable." "The brain loves things of will I, won't I? The brain loves to get excited about things that may or may not happen." "The bottom billion people on the economic ladder are probably going to have a massive uplift. Get ready for an epic episode as I dive into a captivating conversation with the extraordinary Steven Bartlett, renowned for his role in Dragon's Den and The Diary Of A CEO. Join me on a journey through Steven's life, from overcoming a tough childhood to achieving entrepreneurial triumph and hosting an impactful podcast. Together, we explore the keys to success, navigating belief systems, and the relentless pursuit of happiness. We delve into the power of curiosity, the transformative value of meaningful struggle, and the paramount importance of maintaining unwavering trust with our audience. Don't miss this superstar episode packed with wisdom and inspiration! KEY TAKEAWAYS Beliefs are formed based on evidence and can be changed by accumulating new evidence. Happiness is often determined by the fulfilment of expectations, and managing expectations is crucial for maintaining happiness. Success and wealth do not guarantee happiness, and the pursuit of material possessions can lead to dissatisfaction. Building meaningful relationships and surrounding oneself with trusted friends and family is more important than acquiring wealth or fame. Sweating the small stuff and paying attention to details can contribute to success and excellence in various areas of life. BEST MOMENTS "The most compelling beliefs in the world are those that come from your own senses." "Expectations are the controllable element of all of our happiness." "You're letting people down. But the person I don't want to let down is the tens of millions that tune in." "I don't have new friends. This week I'm rejoined with one of our favourite guests, former Special Forces soldier and TV personality, Ollie Ollerton, who gets more candid than ever before about the SBS, and its not what you think….. KEY TAKEAWAYS We should always back spirituality with science, especially in a world where scepticism is prevalent. Strict upbringings can shape discipline and resilience, but we must never let discipline go too far. Those with a rebellious nature will find conflict in a military career. In order to progress and grow, you need to recognise personal growth and develop your mindset You can achieve self-discovery and personal development through focussing on spirituality and visualisation techniques. We need to challenge societal programming and take control of one's own thoughts and actions in order to live a fulfilling and empowered life BEST MOMENTS "I was so lost as a kid. And I say a kid, I was still a kid when I was in the military. But I was so lost. I look back now and I just think that I'd love to have that opportunity again." "I think it's a bit dangerous when Alex Hormozi says, you know, I get up in bed, I look at my phone for an hour, I do this and the other. He is what I call a unconscious competent." "We are the program product of World War I and II. Your parents were programmed through those years. Absolute lack, rationing, all that kind of thing. That program has been passed on to you and to me." "You imagine our first steps on this planet. We're never going to remember all the nice fruits that we ate. We're always going to remember the one bad berry that made us ill and could have killed us. So that is why we're addicted to the things that could go wrong." Gail Porter is one of the most recognisable names in the country after becoming the poster child for the Britpop generation, and her subsequent star-making career as one of the most sought-after TV presenters in the UK. Gail talks candidly to me about her time as a presenter on kids' TV to the infamous incident of her nude photo being projected onto the Houses of Parliament. This week I am joined by serial entrepreneur Daniel Priestley, for a rocket-fuelled journey through his life and entrepreneurial journey, in which he shares the story of his first business at the age of 10 to becoming a key person of influence in the business world. He discusses the importance of manufacturing demand and building a personal brand to attract opportunities, and also highlights the impact of his experiences in slums and his humanitarian goals, emphasising the need for businesses to make a positive impact in the world. KEY TAKEAWAYS Building a personal brand as a key person of influence is essential for success in business. It allows you to manufacture demand for your products or services and attract opportunities. Manufacturing demand is often overlooked in traditional education and business training. While many focus on creating value, it is equally important to learn how to generate demand for what you offer. Being a key person of influence involves more than just gaining attention. It requires having a well-thought-out business, a great product or service, and utilising your personal brand to form partnerships and run effective campaigns. The power of being a key person of influence lies in the ability to curate opportunities and have demand exceed supply. This leads to profitability and success in business. BEST MOMENTS "Once you become a key person of influence, you're just an opportunity magnet at that point. And it's very hard to fail." "Most of the richest people on the planet, they break all the rules in business school. But the one rule they never break is that they always have demand exceeding supply." "A key person of influence is someone who is using their personal brand power their business. They've got a well thought through business, they've got a great product, they've got a great service." "If I want to jump on a plane, there are planes available. Just the idea of I went to school and some taxpayer paid for my schooling. I grew up in a system where taxes get paid and if you want to go to school, you're in a nice school." This week, I'm joined by Jordan Reynolds, a professional boxer with an impressive record of seven wins in seven fights. We explore his journey from a troubled youth to finding solace and belonging in the boxing gym. He candidly discusses the challenges he faced, both inside and outside the ring, and how he used discipline and determination to overcome them. We delve into the world of boxing, examining the differences between amateur and professional fights, various boxing styles of different nations, and the importance of mindset and resilience in the sport. Jordan also opens up about his difficult upbringing, the trauma he experienced, and his desire to create a loving and supportive family environment. The discussion focuses on personal growth, spiritual practices, and why it's vital to give back to the community. TAKEAWAYS Jordan recognised his potential in boxing early on, even with limited experience. His determination and grit were evident in his amateur fights, where he faced opponents with far more experience and still performed well. You should always take your career seriously from the start. Jordan focussed on his diet, nutrition, and overall fitness, and was influenced by the professional boxers he trained with and aimed to emulate their dedication and commitment to their craft. You'll always encounter scepticism and negativity from some people who feel threatened by your ambition and drive. However, with a strong support system, you'll always overcome the doubters. In addition to his boxing career, Jordan has embraced various practices and experiences to enhance his personal growth and well-being. This week, I'm on a mission with the inspirational Dean Forbes. Dean, a successful entrepreneur and businessman, candidly shares his journey from experiencing homelessness twice to achieving billion-dollar exits in business. We discuss the lessons from Dean's upbringing and how the strength and resilience of his mother, who provided a loving and stable childhood despite challenging circumstances, helped shape the man he is today. The path to success hasn't been easy—from being dropped as a professional footballer to working in a call centre. Dean walks us through his journey, giving a rare insight into the behind-the-scenes challenges. Dean opens up about the lessons he learned regarding money, the challenges of managing wealth, and the profound and often negative impact it has had on his relationships. An incredible episode laced with golden nuggets for all those destined for more. KEY TAKEAWAYS Dean's mother played a crucial role in providing a stable and loving environment for him and his brothers, despite their economic hardships. Her unwavering belief in their potential and emphasis on education set the foundation for their success. Self awareness allows us to pivot and explore other opportunities that align better with our skills and interests. Rather than focusing on long-term, lofty goals, Dean's approach has been to focus on the next step or the next room. This allows for regular positive reinforcement and a sense of accomplishment along the way. While achieving financial success can be life-changing, it also comes with its own set of challenges. Dean experienced the need to navigate tax implications, manage relationships with friends and family, and find a balance between enjoying the fruits of his labour and maintaining financial responsibility BEST MOMENTS "I turned into an idiot. If it was highly desirable and very expensive and somebody had mentioned it at some point in life, I wanted to buy it!" "So I went to where my mom was living. I took out the paperwork. I explained to her what had happened. And I was explaining to her the amount of money involved. And she was hysterical. She's crying. We're hugging, we're having this amazing moment." " I see people, fortunate, you know, in my situation, fearful of that and motivated out of fear” "People have said to me that I've changed, I don't think I have, but I always say sometimes to those people, well, I don't know, you never used to ask me for a quarter of a million pounds!" A Royal Marine with 24 years of service, Lee navigated three operational tours in Afghanistan unscathed. Now, fast forward to a roadside in Surrey where Lee's life takes an abrupt turn. A crash, an engine block, and the loss of his right leg – a stark reminder that life's curveballs don't discriminate. But this isn't just a tale of tragedy; it's a saga of resilience. A medically induced coma, weeks in the hospital, and a grueling rehabilitation journey follow, painting a vivid canvas of pain, recovery, and an uncertain future. Amidst the struggle, Lee's spirit refuses to be broken. Nominated for the Pride of Britain award in 2014, he sets sail on a new horizon in 2015. Joining the Row2Recovery team, Lee embarks on a monumental row across the Atlantic – 3,000 miles, four veterans, and only three legs between them. The outcome? Welcome back to The On a Mission Podcast, where we are thrilled to be rejoined by Lisa Johnson, The Queen of Passive Income, returning for round two. In the pursuit of financial freedom, Lisa stands as a beacon of authenticity amidst a landscape often clouded by scams and deceit. An award-winning business strategist, she guides individuals in crafting passive and semi-passive income streams, turning business dreams into reality. Lisa's journey from £30,000 in debt to multi seven-figure profits in under four years is a testament to her expertise. In this episode, Lisa cuts through the usual fluff, offering a candid perspective on the coaching industry. She actively works towards reform, aiming to eliminate unqualified individuals exploiting those seeking a better life. With recent legal victories affirming her stance against slander and bullying, Lisa brings a refreshing honesty to the conversation. But this episode goes beyond financial success. We explore all aspects of life and success from spirituality, health, balance, and societal challenges like the lost ability to respectfully disagree without animosity. We also discuss a pivotal moment in Lisa's life when she made a surprising decision regarding an invitation to Necker Island with Richard Branson and why life isn't always as it seems on social media. It's real, it's raw and it's definitely unfiltered. You're not going to want to miss this one! KEY TAKEAWAYS It's crucial to prioritise your own values and well-being over conforming to societal expectations of success. Lisa recognises that true success for her is spending quality time with loved ones and engaging in activities that bring her joy. Just because someone can charge exorbitant amounts for their services, it doesn't mean they should. Lisa advocates for fair pricing that allows accessibility to all individuals, regardless of their financial situation. Lisa conducted an experiment to prove that sales tactics and manipulation are not necessary for successful launches. She stripped away fear of missing out (FOMO) marketing, trauma tactics, and other manipulative strategies and still achieved a successful launch, demonstrating that authenticity and transparency can be effective in selling products or services. If using a bonus to entice customers, Lisa encourages the practice of offering a money-back guarantee within a certain timeframe to provide an exit option for those who may have made impulsive decisions based on FOMO. BEST MOMENTS "I believe the online space will kill itself if we're not careful, because there's so many dodgy things going on." "Just because you're good at marketing and being an influencer online doesn't mean that you can just sell fluff and air." "I wanted to prove to people that you can make a lot of money and not use any of these tactics." "The best times in my life aren't when I'm on a stage or saying how amazing it is that I have a Sunday Times bestseller. They're when I'm with my mates and when I'm with my family, just doing really normal things." This week, we are on a mission with Taylor James for some real, frank, and honest discussions about the importance of open conversations surrounding mental health. We get brutally honest about our own experiences with mental health and the unspoken challenges people face when they reach out for support to no avail. The societal pressure we face to appear "put together" is real. In this week's episode, we discuss how to avoid the very real danger of comparing ourselves to others and the constant need for validation that we've been programmed to chase. Taylor's story is laced with tragedy, resilience, and inspiration. Now an award-winning podcaster, he uses his platform as a much-needed force for positivity. KEY TAKEAWAYS It's essential to have a support network that truly listens and validates your feelings. Taylor highlights the importance of finding the right people to talk to, as not everyone will provide the support needed. Sometimes, seeking help from professionals or helplines like Samaritans can be more beneficial. Comparing oneself to others and seeking validation from external sources can be detrimental to mental health. Taylor encourages individuals to focus on their own journey and give themselves what they need, rather than trying to impress or conform to societal expectations. Unsolicited advice can be unhelpful and even harmful. Sometimes, simply having someone listen without judgment can make a significant difference. Transparency and honesty about mental health struggles can be challenging, especially when one is seen as an advocate for positive mental health. BEST MOMENTS "I'm so tired of this kind of generation of thinking, like we have to impress people. I'm going to do what I need to do that makes me feel better." "I don't need to be told what to do. I just need to be told that in some shape or form I'm gonna be okay and what I'm feeling right now isn't going to last forever." "If you've not had any experience of mental health or been as far as to have those extreme dark thoughts, perhaps you might not have thought about it in that way." "I just don't want to be part of that. I think it's almost a bit of a toxic culture" VALUABLE RESOURCES On A Mission - https://omny.fm/shows/on-a-mission Taylor James - h https://uk.linkedin.com/in/taylorpattinson?trk=public_post_feed-actor-name ABOUT THE HOST Not so long ago, life was barely recognisable for Ellie McKay, raising three children under five, battling post-natal depression, facing redundancy and walking into the job centre to claim benefits with a double pram, no confidence, and wracked with insecurities. She was a part of the Primrose Hill set, married to Jude Law, and friends with Kate Moss. The action-packed life of actress/producer/fashion designer Sadie Frost from the heady days of the nineties through 30 years in the entertainment industry, navigating media scandals, phone hacking, and a highly publicised divorce. On this week's episode of the On a Mission podcast, Sadie shares the lessons she's learned from 30 years in the entertainment industry and how she has built the strength and emotional resilience to pursue a life that's true to who she really is. Now, 30 years after her first starring role in Hollywood blockbuster Francis Ford Coppola's vampire classic, she is back on the big screen, taking the world by storm as a director and filmmaker. But it's been an incredible journey of self-discovery getting to this point. KEY TAKEAWAYS Sadie had a diverse upbringing, growing up in a hippie environment and being exposed to alternative practices such as yoga, meditation, and holistic healing from a young age. It was Sadie's raw ambition and drive to succeed in the entertainment industry which led to a scholarship at Italia Conti and a career in acting and modelling. Sadie definitely experienced the negative effects of fame and media scrutiny, including phone hacking and sensationalised stories, which impacted her mental health and relationships. We as a society of fame-watchers, must do better. Always focus on the importance of kindness, understanding, and support for those struggling with mental health issues, as well as the need to challenge societal norms and stereotypes. Sadie's journey towards wellness and self-care includes practices such as meditation, breathwork, grounding, and the companionship of a pet, which have helped her navigate challenges and find peace of mind. BEST MOMENTS "People just need to be thoughtful of how someone else is feeling and support people that are struggling." "I think the press like to kind of manufacture, they like to kind of create a kind of persona about people and things. Something would be written and it would be manipulated and changed." "I did get stronger, but I do resent the fact that I lost that time sometimes with the children and I couldn't have the normal things that you want to do with your kids." - Interviewee "You could very easily get a picture of someone blinking and say they're drunk!" This week's guest, Kirk Miller, has been featured on the cover of Men's Fitness more times than any other man in the UK. He has been at the top of the fitness model game for over a decade and is a world-renowned fitness expert. However, behind the scenes, his life hasn't always been as it appeared. In a society that often places importance on external measures of success, Kirk found himself caught up in the pursuit of validation and achievements. This conversation delves much deeper than just physical fitness and serves as a powerful reminder that our self-worth should not be tied to what we do or how we look. Kirk experienced this firsthand when his promising football career came crashing down, bringing with it a life as he knew it! Through moments of honest introspection, Kirk discusses the impact that his misplaced priorities had on his self-confidence, the impact of turning to destructive behaviours as a way of masking the pain, and what it really took for him to start living a life with purpose. KEY TAKEAWAYS Building confidence comes from keeping promises to yourself and following through on what you say you will do. This builds trust and reliability within yourself. Upbringing and background can shape our beliefs and perspectives on travel, commitment, and success. It's important to challenge and evolve these beliefs to reach our full potential. External appearances can be deceiving. Just because someone looks successful or happy on the outside doesn't mean they are internally fulfilled. True happiness and fulfilment come from living with purpose and aligning our actions with our values. Negative emotions and feelings of being off-track can be cues for change. Instead of viewing them as negative, we can see them as opportunities for growth and self-reflection. They can indicate that we need to re-evaluate our actions, relationships, and alignment with our highest values. BEST MOMENTS "Nothing builds confidence more than keeping your promises to yourself." "If you're not happy with what you do, who you are, the relationships you're in, that will show up at some point." "Everyone's got their flaws. No one's got their shit together." "When you're experiencing a negative emotion longer than you want to, that's a cue that something needs to change." The mind-blowing and often hilarious story of a young lad from Widnes and his transition from the stocks trade to the drugs trade, rubbing shoulders with Mexican cartels, the mafia, and neo-Nazis within one of the most challenging prisons in the United States? This is the journey that Shaun Attwood ended up on as he rose to become an ecstasy kingpin with a substantial drug trafficking empire in Arizona. Shaun shares stories of how he went from being a reportable trader to wild parties, encounters with some of the world's most dangerous individuals, and the challenges he faced along the way. Facing a sentence of up to 200 years, Shaun was locked up alongside some of the most intimidating inmates imaginable. Somehow, through strategic alliances, quick thinking, and his distinctive English accent, Shaun emerged on the other side with a remarkable story to share, and it's one you won't want to miss. KEY TAKEAWAYS Shaun has had experiences with guests who were initially low energy during the podcast but became more animated and shared interesting stories once the recording stopped. This is why it's so vital to establish a comfortable and relaxed environment for guests to open up and share their experiences. Even individuals who may be perceived as fearless or tough can still feel vulnerable and anxious in certain situations. The lure of fast money and excitement can lead individuals down a dangerous path. Shaun's own story is a textbook example of how following the allure of cash can take us to the darkest places on earth. We need to remember the risks associated with getting involved in illegal activities. There are always dangers when associating with dangerous individuals and engaging in criminal behaviour. They can lead to experiences that scar our psyches forever. There is definitely a negative side to being in the public eye and it's crucial to remain resilient and focused on one's goals despite facing adversity BEST MOMENTS "I nearly got shot. They're the local crack dealers. I'm letting them stay in mine. I'm staying at theirs over the street." "I've done TED talks and one of them is like what facing 200 years taught me about happiness and I've learned that happiness is in your heart." "I've had pushback from various reasons. The first lot of pushback were death threats." - "He accused my guy of stolen valour because this guy was an ex-Vietnam vet and a biker." We are joined once more by the fabulous Billy Farrell to discuss the importance of being authentic and real in business. As always, we have an unfiltered and honest conversation about the realities of entrepreneurship without any of the fluff as Billy shares that just a few months ago, one of his businesses was struggling to make payroll before they turned it round at the eleventh hour. This transformation serves as a testament to the importance of authenticity and being real in business. Billy emphasises the need to have honest conversations about the realities of entrepreneurship, without sugarcoating or hiding the struggles that come with it. The discussion also touches upon Billy's recent diagnosis of neurodivergence and how this newfound understanding of his unique way of thinking has contributed to his self-awareness, acceptance, and personal growth. This revelation has allowed him to embrace his differences and use them as strengths in his entrepreneurial journey. We delve into the topic of mental health and how it can be affected when faced with challenging situations. Billy shares his own experiences of dealing with difficult times and emphasises the importance of harnessing the pain and learning from life's challenges. Ultimately we are all looking to find peace amidst the chaos! KEY TAKEAWAYS Embracing your uniqueness: Billy discusses how he has always felt different and never fit in with social groups. However, he has learned to embrace his uniqueness and see it as a strength rather than a weakness. There is great value in understanding the importance of accepting conditions as part of who you are, rather than using them as excuses or crutches. Billy highlights the importance of going through challenges and coming out the other side stronger and more resilient. He believes that facing and overcoming difficulties builds a thicker skin and prepares individuals for bigger opportunities and risks in the future. Past victories and future aspirations are important, but the present moment is where true peace and happiness can be found. BEST MOMENTS "So I've not had to stamp a label of bipolar" "I'm all for learning more about myself, not so that I can have anything as a crutch, but so that I can go, cool, do you know what? If this is me, then I'm going to learn everything I can about this." "It's about being more you. It's about actually not fighting against the things that actually make you feel safe and allow you to thrive." "The more life lessons you go through, the more challenges you go through, as much as we don't necessarily enjoy them. You develop a thicker skin. Some people can become bitter, resentful, hateful and get, you know, just pissed off at the world and life. But there's another way of doing it." This week, I am on a mission with Dale Pinnock, a world-class nutrition expert. Dale, who is a best-selling author and celebrity chef, joins me to discuss his eventful life and his journey into the world of nutrition. From TV presenting to singing with the Backstreet Boys, Dale has some incredible stories to share. During our conversation, Dale opens up about the highs and lows he has experienced, as well as the challenges he has faced. He candidly shares how he navigated through the dark times and provides valuable insights into the conflicting information in the health and wellness industry. Together, we explore the foundations for sustainable change. Dale's passion is truly contagious! You can't help but be inspired by his genuine love for nutrition and helping others. KEY TAKEAWAYSStart with small, incremental changes: Instead of trying to overhaul your entire diet and lifestyle all at once, focus on making one small change at a time. Focus on whole foods: Regardless of the specific dietary approach you choose, the key is to prioritise whole foods. This means incorporating fruits, vegetables, nuts, seeds, whole grains, healthy proteins, and healthy fats into your diet. Avoid ultra-processed foods as much as possible.Find a balance between simplicity and understanding: When it comes to educating yourself about nutrition and health, it's important to find a middle ground between oversimplification and overwhelming complexity. Seek out information that is clear and actionable, but still provides a comprehensive understanding of the topic.Getting children involved in the process of preparing meals can help them develop a positive relationship with healthy food. When kids have an emotional attachment to the food they help prepare, they are more likely to try and enjoy it. BEST MOMENT"One treat meal a week is going to do absolutely bugger all negative to your health. If it's three meals a day, seven days a week, that's a very, very different situation." "Kids only regard as a treat what we tell them is a treat. Now they think a treat is, oh, let's cook together as a family and make this southern fried chicken. And they absolutely love it." "It's a funny thing though, isn't it, as parents that we truly believe that we are doing everything we can for our kids and so many of us, like I say myself included, just to reiterate that point, this isn't me preaching, it's people." This week we are “On a Mission” with global innovator and thought leader, Mo Gawdat for an eye opening conversation about the impact of artificial intelligence (AI) on humanity. As someone who has experienced the development of AI first-hand as the former Chief Business Officer of Google X, Mo shares his insights on the potential dangers and benefits of AI technology. He discusses the fundamental differences between Eastern and Western values, highlighting the need for a balance between individualism and collective action. We discuss the urgency of addressing the ethical and societal implications of AI, warning that the rapid advancements could pose significant threat to humanity. KEY TAKEAWAYS The core values of the West are freedom and a focus on the individual, while the core values of the East are respect and a focus on the collective. The development of artificial intelligence (AI) has the potential to be both a threat and a benefit to humanity, depending on how it is controlled and used. AI technology is advancing at a rapid pace, surpassing expectations in terms of speed, intelligence, and ingenuity. The widespread use of AI has the potential to disrupt various aspects of society, including jobs, income, truth, and human connection. The definition of what it means to be human and the question of whether AI possesses a soul or life of its own are complex and debated topics. BEST MOMENTS "The core values of the West are freedom and a focus on the individual." "Humanity didn't survive the dangerous years because of any intelligence of any single one of us. We survived because we could actually be together as a tribe." "We're going through the most defining moment in human history… We rate wisdom by the one who dispenses it and our love and hate to them." "AI is now on track to develop. It's inevitable. It's going to be part of our life. It's already part of our life." "AI could be a dystopia that really destroys humanity as we know it. Or it could be a utopia that really creates an amazing dream life for all of us." In a truly eye-opening conversation that may well change the way you see the world forever, I welcome guest David “Avocado” Wolfe, a renowned health expert and advocate for natural medicine. David shares his experiences of traveling the world during the pandemic and his passion for educating people about the problems of Western medicine. He discusses his early awakening to the corrupt nature of the medical industry. David also delves into the teachings of Rudolf Steiner and the importance of nutrition in medicine. The conversation touches on topics such as the suppression of alternative medicine, the power of nature, and the need for discernment in navigating conspiracy theories. KEY TAKEAWAYS We should encourage individuals to connect with nature and find fulfilment in activities such as growing their own food, foraging for wild food, and spending time in natural environments. Nature provides a sense of peace and authenticity that is lacking in modern society. It's important to have an open mind and entertain different possibilities. David encourages critical thinking and discernment when evaluating information, including conspiracy theories. He believes that being open to different perspectives allows for personal growth and learning. Not everyone will be receptive to alternative viewpoints or information. Focus on personal growth and sharing knowledge through platforms that allow for open discussion and free expression, such as Telegram. We need to find joy and happiness in challenging situations. Maintaining a positive mindset and not getting caught up in negativity is crucial, especially in times of uncertainty and chaos. Individuals should focus on the things within their control and to find fulfilment in their own lives BEST MOMENTS "I've known the problems with the vaccine since I was seven years old." "This COVID thing is one of those things. It's a tragedy, and out of it arises a better path, a new way of looking at things." "I'm not a believer, for example, that Paul McCartney died, and it's really Billy Shears who's been in that seat since 1966." "People are waking up step by step, and it's never an overnight thing. But it's happening, and that's a very promising thing." KEY TAKEAWAYS Changing your mindset and believing in your ability to achieve your goals is crucial. Law of attraction: There is a vital importance of visualising and acting as if you have already achieved your goals in order to attract them into your life. You need to step out of your comfort zone and take risks in order to achieve your desired level of success. Embrace fear as a sign of growth and push through it. Believe in your ability to achieve success and to be open to receiving abundance in all areas of life. BEST MOMENTS "I think some people, they always want to attribute crypto to my success, to say that crypto was my success, which it is, but it started before crypto." He had to unlearn everything he had been taught as a child in order to break free from the matrix and truly understand how wealth is created. This episode is real, raw, and uncensored. You don't want to miss it! KEY TAKEAWAYS Earn your right to risk: Before diving into high-risk investments or ventures, it's important to establish a solid financial foundation. Find fulfilment in what you do: Success and financial freedom are not solely dependent on the amount of money you earn. It's crucial to find enjoyment and fulfilment in your work or chosen endeavours. By pursuing something you genuinely enjoy, you are more likely to stay motivated and dedicated to your goals. Be mindful of your money mindset: Limiting beliefs and negative associations with money can hinder your financial growth. I'm always free to not do what someone wants me to do. I'm always free to choose how I spend my time." "Money is time because if you think about money in terms of how much time it can buy you, then you're looking at it from a perspective of, okay, well, if the crap hit the fan tomorrow, I can actually live for this long based on my current lifestyle." "Earn your right to risk. I think a lot of people go into desperation and they try and do the quick get rid of the bitcoins and the thing. And the problem is…" "Money is survival. In this episode of the On The Mission podcast, I sit down with Simon Leslie to discuss his incredible journey from being a shy door-to-door insurance salesperson to co-founding the largest travel media company in the world. We delve into the challenges and successes he experienced along the way, including overcoming three bankruptcies and the mindset and resilience required to build back a multimillion pound empire. Simon shares his belief in the power of luck and the importance of courage, resilience, and surrounding oneself with the right people. We also explores how Simon navigated the catastrophic challenges of the pandemic and the lengths he went to keep his team motivated, and the shift in his mindset towards giving and helping others which has completely transformed the way he does both business and life. Now looking to transfer his business success onto the football pitch, Simon shares the motivation behind his more recent venture, buying Eastbourne football club and how he plans to disrupt the way that league football is played from a grassroots level. Could Eastbourne become the next Wrexham success story? KEY TAKEAWAYSEmbrace luck: Simon believes in the power of luck and considers it an important factor in success. He even wears lucky pants every day and attributes his fortunate experiences to his belief in luck. Overcoming shyness: Simon admits to being a shy person in his younger years, but he found his courage and confidence through personal experiences and support from others. He now aims to give courage to others and believes in the importance of supporting and encouraging people. Seizing opportunities: Simon emphasises the importance of being aware and available when opportunities present themselves. He believes that every downside has an upside and that being open to possibilities can lead to unexpected success. BEST MOMENTS"I just think I'm lucky. And I think luck is such an important part of everything we do." "There is something about these threads that we have in us. That deep down, I think we're born with and their qualities." "You've got to make conscious decisions. And if you make a decision knowing that I can live with the upside, I can handle the downside, and make enough of those, you'll start making enough good decisions." This week, we are joined by Narcissism and trauma healing expert Rebecca P Fox. A Psychotherapist and accomplished author making waves with her viral content around this complex subject. We delve deep as Rebecca shares her own traumatic journey with brutal honesty, which has led her to where she is today. Moving forward from childhood trauma with a narcissistic mother, the unresolved trauma inevitably led to more toxic and highly abusive relationships. This is why Rebecca wants to prevent others from experiencing the same. Narcissism is increasingly prevalent in today's power-hungry society. Rebecca explains why we need to build on our emotional intelligence to ensure we are always in control. She is on a mission to help people who have experienced trauma regain their power, but also to help us identify the red flags and avoid potentially toxic relationships from the start. A fascinating insight into a hugely important subject. KEY TAKEAWAYS I was very different to how I am now, I was a high-functioning stress addict with zero self-esteem and confidence, it was like my whole identity was stripped away. All of us suffer some kind of level of childhood trauma and it's the trauma that is the cause of our symptomatology, emerging as anxiety, poor sleep, depression and stress. When you can understand the root cause, the emotions and your mental capacity you can eradicate a lot of your issues. If a child isn't nurtured it creates a high degree of trauma and there is the potential for personality disorder further down the line. We all have narcissist traits to some degree but a narcissist is someone who has a complete lack of empathy for anyone else. When you offer to help a friend or family member you become a saviour and a threat to a narcissist, a narcissist doesn't want this and will try to remove the individual from their location and network to isolate them. All you can do is listen, listen and ask if they are okay, letting them know you are there if they want to talk, sound boarding is very powerful. BEST MOMENTS ‘The process was a lot of tears and a lot of pain but it completely transformed me' ‘For a victim understanding what is happening to them is very difficult and articulating it can be even harder' ‘Talk to the right people and understand what is happening to you so that you can understand how to heal' VALUABLE RESOURCES On A Mission - https://omny.fm/shows/on-a-mission Rebecca P Fox - https://www.rebeccapfox.com/ Rebecca P Fox Instagram - https://www.instagram.com/rebecca.p.fox/?hl=en-gb Athletic Greens - http://athleticgreens.com/onamission Mexi Kit - https://mexi-kit.com/ - code: MISSION ABOUT THE HOST Not so long ago, life was barely recognisable for Ellie McKay, raising three children under five, battling post-natal depression, facing redundancy and walking into the job centre to claim benefits with a double pram, no confidence, and wracked with insecurities.Fast forward to today, and life looks very different. After having survived a near-death medical procedure, and overcoming addiction to opioids and alcohol, author Philly J Lay decided to take back control of her health and wellbeing, by investigating the side of health treatment that many of us rarely even consider. Since then, Philly has passionately spoken out about the darker side of medical control that humanity seems to be suffering beneath. This awakening is what brings Philly here today, as she sits down with me for a revealing, insightful, and sometimes shocking conversation about the nutritional discoveries she has made, including the medicinal properties of food, the hidden side of processed foods, and how the powers on high are feeding us lies and propaganda in order to keep us under control. KEY TAKEAWAYS If we simply listen to the information being broadcast by the powers on high, then we can never get the full picture of health optimisation. We are being lied to in order to wrestle away control of our freedoms. Processed foods in supermarkets are filled with additives designed to force addiction-forming behaviour. Unless we take back control and prepare our own, natural meals, then we become slaves to the food industry. Refined sugar is more addictive than cocaine, and it is in most processed foods. We may think that we are eliminating the problem by swapping out for sweeteners, but our bodies cannot fully process them, and so we store them as fat. We live in a world that is built upon the use of chemicals and toxins designed to "help" us to produce more. But these substances have had an alarming effect on the long term health of the populace, and we have to fight back against their use. BEST MOMENTS 'There is so much more information to come out - certainly about health' 'Nobody is questioning why our health has gone to shit' 'The more you eat this stuff, the more you want it' 'Nothing else could have saved my life that day apart from the love of my children' VALUABLE RESOURCES On A Mission - https://omny.fm/shows/on-a-mission Philly J Lay - https://phillyjlay.com Athletic Greens - http://athleticgreens.com/onamission Mexi Kit - https://mexi-kit.com/ - code: MISSION ABOUT THE HOST Not so long ago, life was barely recognisable for Ellie McKay, raising three children under five, battling post-natal depression, facing redundancy and walking into the job centre to claim benefits with a double pram, no confidence, and wracked with insecurities. Life lessons from the extremes
Toni Gargan is a Double World Record-holding Public Speaker, Mentor, Entrepreneur, and Professional Property Investor. Aside from building a mighty property portfolio, she's also a full-time mentor for property investors and specialises in helping others by training and mentoring through public speaking. Toni is a long-time friend of the show, and makes a return to put the world to rights as we film live in Dubai in what feels more like a fireside chat. We talk candidly about the challenges faced since we recorded our first podcast in the middle of the Covid-19 lockdown and the implications that had on our various businesses. We have a real chat about the obstacles we face as entrepreneurs and how having the right mindset is essential to achieving success. Together, we delve into the untold stories of the implications the pandemic had on business owners, sharing our personal experiences and shedding light on the challenges we faced since recording our first podcast during the Covid-19 lockdown. We get real and raw as we delve into the challenges of navigating the rollercoaster of life and the indispensable role of the right mindset in achieving success. KEY TAKEAWAYS Public speaking terrifies many, but it's a skill worth persevering with, as the rewards can stretch into every facet of life, helping you to improve your communication skills, and making you a better leader. You have to put in the work if you want to build a public speaking empire, but as far as costs go, the only initial outlay is putting your fears to rest and getting started! The entire world has been shaped by stories, and continues to be so. Public speaking, and sharing your voice with the world is an art that takes the concept of the story and applies it to your moment on stage or in front of others. We are universally connected by stories. If the image of the world that we see is one of perfection, such as the world we see through the Instagram lens, you can feel inadequate. You have to learn to see through the BS, and remember that life can kick us all when we're down. This week's episode was recorded live from Dubai with my fabulous co-host Toni Gargan where we had the pleasure of speaking to Master Sri Akarshana, also known as the Yogi with a Lamborghini. Master Sri Akarshana's wisdom has inspired over 35 million people worldwide. Despite being the son of a gang leader, he defied the odds and became a highly successful entrepreneur, achieving financial freedom at the young age of 25. However, he felt deeply depressed and unfulfilled, realising that material possessions alone couldn't bring him true happiness. This realisation led him to discover a passion for helping others. Letting go of his luxurious lifestyle, Master Sri Akarshana embarked on a journey of self-discovery and service. He was chosen to become a disciple of the Himalayan Spiritual Master Grandmaster Akshar, a role that came with a rigorous and little-known training process which isn't for the faint hearted. In our conversation, Master Sri shares his insights on various topics, including the Law of Attraction, manifestation, and practical ways to enhance one's spiritual journey. He also discusses the strategies he has developed to overcome negativity and limiting beliefs. One of the biggest challenges in the spiritual community is finding a balance between spirituality and financial abundance. Master Sri Akarshana delves into the common scarcity mindset that holds many spiritual individuals back from accumulating wealth and accessing their full potential. Don't miss this episode, as it breaks down stereotypes and misconceptions surrounding spirituality and offers a fresh perspective on what it truly means to be spiritual. KEY TAKEAWAYS There is a conscious mind, a subconscious mind, and a super-conscious mind, responsible for the energy beyond what we are as a physical being. If there is no darkness, then the impact of light will not matter. When we face challenges in life, it forces us to overcome and provide positivity where there once was negativity. We can't save everyone in the world. We can only ever do our best and help those we can. Doing our best is enough. We should learn to embrace silence and companionship. We waste so much time conducting civilities that are worthless. If we make every word mean something, and every conversation count, it'll make life so much more rich. Giving is living. Financial goals are naturally bred into us by society, but the true mission and purpose in life is to give back, and to understand what real happiness is. BEST MOMENTS 'What a lot of people don't talk about is the superconscious' 'There has to be darkness for light to prevail' 'Everything is what it is and we do our best' 'You learn so much from perspective' VALUABLE RESOURCES On A Mission - https://omny.fm/shows/on-a-mission Master Sri YouTube - https://www.youtube.com/c/mastersriakarshana Master Sri Instagram - https://www.instagram.com/master_sri_akarshana/?hl=en Master Sri Akarshana - https://mastersriakarshana.com Toni Gargan - https://sociatap.com/tonigargan/ Athletic Greens - http://athleticgreens.com/onamission ABOUT THE HOST Not so long ago, life was barely recognisable for Ellie McKay, raising three children under five, battling post-natal depression, facing redundancy and walking into the job centre to claim benefits with a double pram, no confidence, and wracked with insecurities. This week, the tables are turned as I find myself on the other side of the questions. We originally recorded for the ‘Inspired By' podcast with the fabulous Chloe Bisson, but the feedback has been so good we decided to share it here too. In this special episode, I dive deep into my personal journey of transformation. From being on job seekers allowance to now having a top-ranking podcast, my life took a very different turn. But it wasn't an easy path. I had to go to war with myself and rewrite the old script that was holding me back. Join me as I share the story of how I turned setbacks and hardships into fuel to motivate me. Discover the strategies I used to build up my resilience and overcome the challenges that came my way. Through empowering conversations with the incredible guests on my show, On A Mission, I found my true purpose and mission in life. One of the key lessons I learned on this journey is the importance of communication and conversation. They hold the keys to understanding how the world works and can unlock doors to new opportunities. I'll delve into why these skills are crucial for personal growth and success. This episode is not just about my story, but about empowering you to rewrite your own script and overcome any obstacles that stand in your way. It's a reminder that with determination and a willingness to challenge ourselves, we can create a life of purpose and fulfillment. Tune in to this thought-provoking episode that will leave you inspired and ready to take on any challenge that comes your way. Don't miss out on the valuable insights and strategies that can help you transform your own life. KEY TAKEAWAYS Talking to people is one of the most difficult jobs you can do, but it definitely builds character, and it certainly provides you with a rich insight into human beings, how they work, and subsequently how the world itself operates. It's very easy to remain insular and not edge out into the world to experience the sometimes adverse conditions out there. But the biggest rewards in life are the ones we find when we step outside of our comfort zone and into that unfamiliar territory. Never assume that because you're from humble beginnings, that your past is some kind of curse. You learn far more by bringing yourself up and through challenge than you ever could by having success handed to you. When you push through pain, there's no going back to normality. When you've experienced hardship, it's unwise to ever lose the sense of strength and resilience you had to find in order to overcome it. Keep that fire burning, as it'll serve you for the rest of your life. BEST MOMENTS 'At the age of 40 I'm finally getting paid to talk' 'We make mistakes, we drop the ball and pick it up again' 'You have highs, you have lows, you have setbacks. You're up here one minute and you're down there the next. But now it's time for the biggest one of all, Zuby is now live on the On a Mission podcast and trust me, you don't want to miss it
In this episode of the On a Mission podcast, we sit down with Barton Scott, the founder of Upgraded Formulas, a company that is revolutionising the way we think about our health, sleep and energy. As a former chemical engineer, Barton knows a thing or two about the importance of minerals and nutrients in our bodies. He experienced a marked decline in his energy levels and saw an emerging pattern of fatigue and brain fog. This led him to devote his life to finding a revolutionary way to become a better human being. Barton believes that the key to optimal health lies in the careful engineering of minerals. He explains that our bodies need a wide range of minerals to function properly, and that many of us are deficient in these essential nutrients. By carefully selecting and combining the right minerals, Barton has created a range of products that can help us all to feel better, sleep better and have more energy. But Barton's approach goes beyond just taking supplements. He believes that we need to take a more experimental and brave approach to our health. He argues that the accepted medical wisdom might be changed entirely if we were willing to try new things and take risks. By eating a nutrient and mineral-rich diet, we can give our bodies the tools they need to function at their best. In this fascinating conversation, Barton shares his insights into the importance of minerals, the benefits of a nutrient-rich diet, and why we need to be more experimental in our approach to health. If you're looking for ways to improve your health, sleep and energy, then this is an episode you won't want to miss. KEY TAKEAWAYS Blocking blue light helps to give our brains focus by filtering out certain wavelengths of the light spectrum that cause noise in the brain, lessening confusion, headaches, and aiding recall. When we reduce the number of calories we eat, we're not just restricting our energy levels, but also the levels of nutrients, macros and minerals that we consume, which is the whole point of why we eat in the first place. Nutrients are the overall category of things we need to nourish our body. Vitamins and minerals are two different categories within that overarching branch of nutrition. Your health is the fundamental keystone to life and should be treated as the foremost concern in all things. When you have real control over your health, you feel less inclined to be led by the more propagandistic branch of society that loves to dictate. BEST MOMENTS 'Minerals activate vitamins and enzyme pathways - they give the body a lot of shortcuts' 'The diagnoses that we have fancy names for are really just a way for doctors to compartmentalise' 'I applied chemical engineering to nutrition and suddenly saw all these things that can't be true' 'What we're doing when we take control of our health is that we're taking more control back of every other aspect' VALUABLE RESOURCES On A Mission - https://omny.fm/shows/on-a-mission Barton Scott LinkedIn - https://www.linkedin.com/in/1bartonscott/ Upgraded Formulas - https://www.upgradedformulas.com/pages/our-story Athletic Greens - http://athleticgreens.com/onamission ABOUT THE HOST Not so long ago, life was barely recognisable for Ellie McKay, raising three children under five, battling post-natal depression, facing redundancy and walking into the job centre to claim benefits with a double pram, no confidence, and wracked with insecurities. In this episode, we welcome, special guest Chloe Bisson, an enterprising individual who is embarking on her own podcast called Inspired By. We explore the significance of authenticity and embracing one's true self, while also highlighting the value of casual conversations. Prepare to be enthralled by Chloe's personal journey in launching her podcast and discover the driving force behind her inspiration. KEY TAKEAWAYS Asking the right questions is important. Authenticity is relatable and powerful. Being brave means getting scared. Career success doesn't equal happiness. Rebuilding identity after loss. BEST MOMENTS "It's okay saying that. And I think too many people say, oh, fuck what people think. But you know what? If we're all being really honest with ourselves, the vast majority of us do want to be liked." "We're all equal in this life. And the way that you speak to people that are at the bottom of the corporate ladder, not the top of it, is very telling." "When you attach your identity to one thing and you then achieve what you've perceived to be the pinnacle of success. Only to find the said of it being the Holy grail, you're left feeling empty and unfulfilled." "I've gained so much more than I've actually lost." "It's the X factor, isn't it? It's not necessarily the top actors or actresses that are in Hollywood at the moment. In the same way, it's probably not always the best podcasters. It's usually the best marketers, the best people connecting, building relationships, getting in front of the right people that understand how to play the game of life, not just in that industry." Dariush Soudi is a global entrepreneur, venture capitalist/investor, renowned speaker, philanthropist, and specialist in helping others to find the greatness within themselves, and how to unleash your inner gladiator. Dariush joins me to talk about the incredible rags to riches to rags to riches tale of his life, his personal philosophy on living well and why you should always treat each day as a gift, and the sometimes-shocking stories of the fights he's had, and the empowering ways in which he's turned pain into power. KEY TAKEAWAYS You can't ever take life for granted. We often feel too safe in our existence, but we should treat each day as if it's our last, and live life to the fullest at each opportunity. As human beings, we are the only creatures on the planet to have the powers of thought and choice. Our choice should not be to accept the status quo and to want more. There's something rather tragic about the fact that those who come to the world with an open heart are the ones who are hurt the most. We should embrace those who lead with their feelings, and not their fists. Common sense should tell anyone that you take guidance from those who are walking the path that you want to walk. If someone is ahead of you by two steps then follow that person. BEST MOMENTS 'I'm aware of every second of every day, because you can't take anything for granted' 'When you have those lows, if you do the right thing, the very highs will come' 'I'm always thinking there's more to life than this - this is not it - this is not it' 'People will judge you by the lifestyle you show' VALUABLE RESOURCES On A Mission - https://omny.fm/shows/on-a-mission Dariush Soudi - https://dariushsoudi.com Athletic Greens - http://athleticgreens.com/onamission ABOUT THE HOST Not so long ago, life was barely recognisable for Ellie McKay, raising three children under five, battling post-natal depression, facing redundancy and walking into the job centre to claim benefits with a double pram, no confidence, and wracked with insecurities. This week's episode is a HUGE eye-opener. Dr Aseem Malhotra is one of Britain's most influential cardiologists and a world-renowned expert in the prevention of heart disease. He is a pioneer of the lifestyle medicine movement in the UK and in 2018 was ranked by software company Onalytica as the number one doctor in the world influencing obesity thinking. Dr Malhotra is also an international best-selling author and more recently an advocate against the use of other highly controversial vaccines having tragically lost his father during the pandemic. From appearing on Good Morning Britain assuring viewers “traditional vaccines are the safest”, to seeing the evidence and alarming links between mRNA vaccines and heart disease, he now passionately advocates for the guidance to be changed. In this hard-hitting episode, we talk about evidence-based medicine and highlight the World governments and Pharmaceutical companies who repeatedly prioritise their interests over public health Dr Malhotra has been going against the conventional narrative for over a decade as he highlights the overprescription of pharmaceutical drugs and the fraudulent way that medical trials are conducted which has not been without repercussions. A fascinating insight into modern medicine and the murky world of Big Pharma
This week I speak to a trailblazer in women's football, Lioness legend Karen Carney, MBE. Karen reflects on her phenomenal career as the third most capped England player of all time, representing Great Britain at the 2012 London Olympics, moving into punditry and the impact abuse from online trolls has affected her mental health. As an elite sportsperson, who competed at a high level from a young age, retirement left Karen with a huge void and a feeling of losing her identity. Away from the pitch is where she fought her and won her most fierce battles and it's those that she believes have helped to strengthen her over the years. KEY TAKEAWAYS The secret to life is to keep moving. Stop focussing on the past and look ahead to what's coming. That's the only way to meet challenge and discover new opportunities. Sports professionals are just that. They must never be defined by their gender. We need to strip back the definitions to a purely human standing, and regard all sexes with the respect that they are due. When you achieve victory in anything, you have to take a moment to celebrate your win. Don't feel too pressured to move on until you've properly experienced the joy in the moment. The most important lesson we can live by is to enjoy the elements that make us different from others. Never see our differences as something to hide. It's what makes us unique that's truly special in this world. BEST MOMENTS 'My mission is for everyone to see it as football, not just men's and women's football' 'I'm only ever going to be myself, that's all I can be' 'I'm a pundit, I'm a former player. I'm not a former female player - I don't want to be a female pundit' 'Life's fast and evolving. You can't stand still and admire what you've previously done. Former Royal Marines Commando and MMA World Champion Martin ‘50 Cal' Stapleton returns for a second bout of real uncensored chat. Nothing is off limits as we go deep into why so many well-intentioned people fail when it comes to bettering themselves, how to get out of victim mentality and why we need to stop letting society define our definition of success. KEY TAKEAWAYS No one ever got to be a champion at anything by not putting in the hard yards. The fight itself is only a tiny part of the journey - there's a vast and comprehensive journey behind that brief moment. You have to choose goals that are appropriate to your mindset and capabilities. Long terms goals are great, but if the going gets tough, you can fall by the wayside. It's far better to set smaller, incremental goals and hit them often. People don't choose martial arts because they want a fight. They want to better themselves, get fit and emulate the kind of community spirit, camaraderie and mindset that results when we apply ourselves to a discipline. People who do well in life are those who recognise there are doubts and fears in life, and do something about it. Those who fail normalise those fears and hide from them. BEST MOMENTS 'I believe everybody should do martial arts' 'Fights are won and lost in the weeks, months, and years beforehand' 'It's got to be built on solid foundations - in a solid belief in yourself' 'If I can just get them out of victim mode, then I feel like I've done my job' VALUABLE RESOURCES On A Mission - https://omny.fm/shows/on-a-mission Martin Stapleton Instagram - https://www.instagram.com/stapes_50cal SBG Rochdale - https://www.sbgrochdale.com Athletic Greens - http://athleticgreens.com/onamission ABOUT THE HOST Not so long ago, life was barely recognisable for Ellie McKay, raising three children under five, battling post-natal depression, facing redundancy and walking into the job centre to claim benefits with a double pram, no confidence, and wracked with insecurities. Everyone deserves a dignified life
AJ Roberts' story is a prime example of how one decision can drastically alter the path of your life. At the age of just 19, he was given an ultimatum - go to jail or join the army. Thankfully, AJ chose the latter, and credits this single diversion as a true salvation in his life. Since leaving the military in 2018, AJ has put the considerable knowledge he's gained through serving in such places as Afghanistan and Sierra Leone, into not just founding a global wellbeing empire, but also investigating the darker side of the world around us, and daring to ask the uncomfortable questions around the propaganda and false narratives we're sold. In this episode, AJ returns to the show to talk about not just how he has learned to defy the lies but the best way of communicating this to people who have fallen behind in terms of consciousness, how propaganda works and how we can defy it, and the terrifying way in which the broken education system is turning an entire generation into a fearful one. KEY TAKEAWAYS When tumultuous events take place, our natural reaction is to fact find and in general, we accept the information we're given by the powers above. It's not until we begin to question this narrative that we gain a new level of consciousness. The sad fact is that we've been slowly conditioned to live inside a heightened state of anxiety without actually realising it. The powers on high have drip-fed a constant slew of terror to the populace, and are now reaping the benefits of the worldview they have created. Figures in the world are elevated through propaganda, to give us all someone to look up to and admire. While we are looking upwards at these figures, our pockets are being picked by clever marketing. The education system is fundamentally broken in that we are now turning out an entire generation of young people who enter the world with no confidence and too much fear. The only way to fix it is to talk directly to the children and understand how they wish to be taught so as to best prepare them for the future. BEST MOMENTS 'Being an observer has allowed me to see the amazing journeys of people' 'I learned how powerful the human body and mind really is' 'It's very difficult to be the change that you want to see in the world, when you're depressed and anxious yourself' 'The more we raise our awareness, the more we're able to discern what's BS and what's not' VALUABLE RESOURCES On A Mission - https://omny.fm/shows/on-a-mission AJ Roberts Twitter - https://twitter.com/ajroberts_uk?lang=en AJ Roberts Facebook - https://www.facebook.com/mrajroberts/ AJ Roberts - https://www.mrajroberts.com AJ Roberts Speaking Dates - http://www.mrajroberts.com/tour AJ Roberts 5 Day Course - http://www.mrajroberts.com/book-online Athletic Greens - http://athleticgreens.com/onamission ABOUT THE HOST Not so long ago, life was barely recognisable for Ellie McKay, raising three children under five, battling post-natal depression, facing redundancy and walking into the job centre to claim benefits with a double pram, no confidence, and wracked with insecurities. This week on the On a Mission podcast, I'm joined by Jess Cunningham businesswoman, and television personality best known for competing in the 2016 series of The Apprentice. Jess is a fierce, strong business mind and a powerhouse in the world of entrepreneurship, but it hasn't always been as easy as Jess makes it look. She's experienced life-changing highs, as well as faced earth-shattering lows, including tragedies that would have derailed many. In this frank episode, Jess lays out the details of her sometimes-harrowing story, talks about the highs and lows of reality television, why we should vehemently question the narratives we're being sold around health and wellbeing, and how she's overcome the blackest moments in life to build an impregnable resilience that has taken her to the top of the game. KEY TAKEAWAYS Sometimes connections take place in life that some refer to as serendipity or coincidence. But the real reason that greatness attracts greatness, is that their energies are aligned. The pains we carry as children often carries through to adulthood in ways we cannot express. They can manifest in physical ways, rather than emotional scars. When they surface, it's imperative that we listen to what our body is trying to tell us. We get our images of success from the media, which is a distorted viewpoint from the start. We need to look inside for the real image of what we want success to look like. Most medical professionals are being taught from a big pharma perspective, and therefore are not open to the fact that wellbeing begins in the mind, and that what fits as a solution for one person may not fit for the populace. We need to question the system and smash the current way of thinking about health. BEST MOMENTS 'My validation was stolen from me as a child' 'Your subconscious will only give you what you're ready to receive' 'You have to feel your emotions to release them' 'The truth always comes out, because you cannot hide the truth' VALUABLE RESOURCES On A Mission - https://omny.fm/shows/on-a-mission Jess Cunningham Instagram - https://www.instagram.com/theprodigalfox/?hl=en Athletic Greens - http://athleticgreens.com/onamission ABOUT THE HOST Not so long ago, life was barely recognisable for Ellie McKay, raising three children under five, battling post-natal depression, facing redundancy and walking into the job centre to claim benefits with a double pram, no confidence, and wracked with insecurities. Dean Kelly is a seasoned multipreneur and investor who has successfully built, grown and exited several businesses, selling his first education company almost two decades ago at 30 years old for an eight-figure sum, to then also become the youngest CEO on the U.K. stock market. Today Dean is still an active hands-on entrepreneur with a portfolio that owns several recruitment agencies, a SaaS platform, a business consultancy, the world's largest network of recruitment CEOs that have a combined turnover of $3.5bn and a property portfolio spanning from Europe to the UAE. On a Mission welcomes Dean back for a second time to talk about his career journey, his informed thoughts on education and the schooling system as well as revealing his first-hand experience of the corruption within the current political system leading him to cut all ties with number 10. Having worked alongside the infamous former health secretary Matt Hancock, Dean gives his opinion on the pandemic, the likes of Rishi Sunak and Trump and talks about who really controls the world! KEY TAKEAWAYS Dean's involvement with many Tory members meant he saw from the inside how much the public was lied to during the pandemic and the corruption on the inside. This in part is the reason he is longer a member. There is a staggering amount of evidence of the corruption in our political system in the UK, particularly around the NHS and covid, you just have to start looking. In the West, university and the school system are given a lot of credit but it's not an indicator of true intelligence. The education system is not fit for purpose, it doesn't teach people the skills needed for life. When Dean first began leading people and taking over businesses, he still suffered from a form of imposter syndrome. It took some time for him to no longer feel like he was ‘blagging it'. Taking a step back sometimes and making things simple can enable you to see a situation for what it really is and give you clarity. Dean's diverse experience in business means that he has a breadth of knowledge and always gets asked a lot of questions, his passion can sometimes take over and he has to remind himself to reign conversations and his opinions in. Working in recruitment, Dean is always seeing the changes in the economy quickly, when people are hiring and in which sectors is very telling. Dean believes you need people like Trump, to break the narrative and have people in power who can't be controlled, whether you agree with their politics or not. To be part of the front bench in parliament, Dean believes you have to be ‘corruptible' or you wouldn't be allowed to get there. Politics needs to start appealing to different people from different backgrounds, this is the only way it will become balanced and truly be for the people. BEST MOMENTS 'The Tory party parties can get a little bit mad' ‘You soon realise, that you're just being lied to' ‘They're not the conservative party, they're liberal elites' ‘The biggest con perpetrated on the West is universities' ‘Don't confuse a good education for intelligence' ‘I think they are trying to push a recession on us at the moment' VALUABLE RESOURCES On A Mission - https://omny.fm/shows/on-a-mission Athletic Greens - http://athleticgreens.com/onamission Dean Kelly LinkedIn https://www.linkedin.com/in/deankellyuk Athletic Greens - http://athleticgreens.com/onamission ABOUT THE HOST Not so long ago, life was barely recognisable for Ellie McKay, raising three children under five, battling post-natal depression, facing redundancy and walking into the job centre to claim benefits with a double pram, no confidence, and wracked with insecurities. At the age of 28, professional footballer Fraser Franks was abruptly forced into retirement from professional football and found himself spiralling into depression, which swiftly led to a prolonged period of alcohol addiction. Through sheer willpower and determination, Fraser pulled himself back from the brink of self-destruction and has since gone on to become a vocal champion when it comes to helping others to beat their alcohol issues. Fraser talks frankly about what it means to go from the top to the bottom, how he has learned to frame his past and why our careers must never truly define who we are as a person, the sometimes shocking moments from his time as an alcoholic, and why he resolved to pull himself back from the edge in order to carve out a happier, healthier life. Another incredibly raw episode of the On a Mission podcast. KEY TAKEAWAYS When we are young, we seem to set our entire life's path according to the career we aspire to. When we have the benefit of experience and maturity, we see that career paths never truly define who we are as a person. There's no such thing as failure when it comes to anything. There are only lessons that we can use to make us stronger and more resilient. Alcohol makes us far more confident, and can allow us to explore a more free-thinking side of ourselves. But if that isn't who we truly are, then we tend to rely upon it to help us in social situations, leading to a spiralling effect, where we can't exist in the world unless we drink. Rather than face the judgment of those who love us, alcohol users hide their addictions, forcing them to become shadowy versions of the person they once were. this can lead to shame, and a loss of self-worth. BEST MOMENTS 'There was no separation of the player and the person' 'Personality is not permanent - good or bad' 'I developed a real confidence with alcohol, but no confidence without it' 'I became defensive because I knew I was drinking more than I wanted to' 'I didn't like the person that I was becoming' VALUABLE RESOURCES On A Mission - https://omny.fm/shows/on-a-mission Fraser Franks Instagram - https://www.instagram.com/fraserfranks/?hl=en Fraser Franks Twitter - https://www.twitter.com/@Fraserfranks Athletic Greens - http://athleticgreens.com/onamission ABOUT THE HOST Not so long ago, life was barely recognisable for Ellie McKay, raising three children under five, battling post-natal depression, facing redundancy and walking into the job centre to claim benefits with a double pram, no confidence, and wracked with insecurities.
